I was poking around my phone, and I saw that my Contacts haven't synced since January 27. There's an icon, and an explanation that says "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly."
Obviously, it's not back shortly seen as it's been almost two months since it's functioned. I kind of had figured there was an issue because some changes that I made didn't make it back to my gmail, but i hadn't looked into it until now.
Has anybody else had a similar issue? Do you have any suggestions on how to fix it?
I've tried my Nandroid back-up, but that doesn't fix anything (which was expected). I'd rather not do a wipe, but I'll do it if I need to. Thoughts?
I have JF-RC33, HardSPL, Apps not on SD (yet)
Update: Reapplied JF update.zip, no improvement.
I searched around, it seems to be a known issue, but with no real solution. The only thing that is known is that it's probably a data issue (corrupted somehow).
Ive experienced the same thing, i think its a google thing.
I had the same problem after switching from the US version to the UK version.
The only way I ever got it to sync again was to reflash the US version again. Might just be a coincidence, though.
I figured it out. I played around with it a lot, and finally figured it out.
The issue comes from some less than robust programming on Google's part. Sync stops working when some data gets modified both in the Gmail Contacts program and the G1, before a sync takes place. From the moment this screw-up occurs, Sync stops working.
The way I fixed it was kind of weird. I actually ran Koush's Facebook Contacts sync. What I think it did was force the update from the Google server's side. I think google wins in the sync battle, so it forced it to my phone, ending the disconnect.
I'll do some more testing when I have time.
I have been having this issue since oh I say about CM6 Nightlies 8/26-8/27 when the "Market Issue" crept up. And let me say I know that had nothing to do with this ROM per-say. I am using CM6 now on 9-1 nightly...Perhaps someone has\had the same problem.
No matter what I do using AppBrain or just the Market app I keep getting these dam force close on trying to download these 3 updates. 1. Handcent SMS and 2.Droid Battery and 3.Clockwork ROM manager. All of these apps I have removed and re-installed and then tried the market again...Still shows they all 3 need to be updated. Obviously when I am re-installing I am installing the last version I have prior to the updates that both sites say I need. Should I go into manage apps and wack all the updates for all 3 of these apps? Or is there a fix for the market itself? I have removed AppBrain and re-installed but that did not fix the issue either.
Now I have not been wiping anything on these nightlies I might add..And I have never had ANY issues other than the ones mentioned here. I have noticed the GPS issues as a lot of others have. But on 9/1 has ZERO GPS issues and locked in a matter of seconds. Also, I only can get ANY data via WiFi...<---A whole OTHER issue. But I know the fix for that. I just need to have my phone added with my Provider...Which is MetroPCS blah blah. I can get SMS and the Net of course now that there is a nice Proxy Setting which I hope that remains in the final build.
Anywho...Market issues anyone? Is there a way to wack the market.apk and re-install it? I have cleaned cache on just about everything I could think of..Re-set defaults etc on the 3 apps in question. Suggestions?
What I need is
Handcent SMS Version 3.2.9...Again I am NOT able to get to the market and I can't get on WiFi at the moment...
After further investigation ALL I need is Handcent SMS 3.2.9 I have the other versions I have NO idea why it keeps saying that I need to update the other two I have the latest of Gauge Battery Widget and ClockworkROM Manager. Hmmm interesting...

This is a recent and known google problem, not a rom problem. Google's servers have been overloaded, sot his is why the market is not preforming well.
i'm having a similar issue for quite a while now. probably over a month but i've just been dealing with it.
i think it started when i put cy mod 6 on my hero after a complete wipe.
i can not install any apps. from appbrain/market it will go through the dowload process and begin installation. but the installation is always unsuccessful. for almost every app. i've tried restoring from myback up, titanium back up, app saver. nothing works.
i was just about to completely wipe my phone & sd card but thought i'd take a look here first.
any help would be greatly appreciated. =)
While trying to figure out why I wasn't getting my push notifications I noticed that there are a lot of people having this same problem. It doesn't seem to affect just one brand or model of phone. Nor does it seem to be a specific carrier or firmware version. I finally figured out the problem and decided to post this here rather than in the forum for my device. My particular device is a Verizon GS4, rooted, stock firmware, version MK2.
Originally, I had thought it was only Facebook and eBay that I wasn't getting notifications from. It turned out I wasn't getting any of them except text messages and email.
If you are having the same problem, this is why. The problem is that one of your apps is blocking the notifications. For me, it was Yahoo instant messenger. After a whole day searching and trying every solution I could find, I finally just started uninstalling apps that get push notifications. Once I uninstalled YIM I knew instantly that I had found the cause because I got about 20 push notifications, they were all the ones which I hadn't received. It really wasn't until then that I realized just how many apps I wasn't getting notifications from.
The app that's causing you to not receive your notifications may or may not be YIM. It more than likely will be an app which you downloaded and installed, as opposed to one preinstalled on the phone.
My suggestion would be to go through your apps and uninstall, one at a time, any apps you've installed which receive push notifications. More than likely, you will instantly get some notifications when you find the one causing the problem. Once you find the faulty app, you should be able to reinstall it without a problem. If you reinstall it and the problem returns, you will at least know where to begin looking for a solution.
If your problem is only with a specific app, then you may need to check your settings for that particular app. With, for example, the Facebook app, if you uncheck the messages box in settings, you will only get push notifications during certain times. So that may be your problem if its just Facebook. Or similar if its a different app.
I hope this actually helps someone. Any questions, I'm subscribed and I will respond right away.

I'm sure this has already been posted but.... for some reason my Facebook notifications are not showing up at all. I literally have to click on the app to view them. The notifications won't be sent to my main menu and it's annoying the crap out of me. I've tried numerous things to try and fix the issue and everything has failed thus far. So now I turn to the forum of maybe someone who has the same issue and fixed it... not even my mobile phone carrier retailer had an answer to fix it... I have the latest Facebook update as well. I never encountered problems until the most recent updates.
any help is gladly appreciated :good:
clear app data usually solves this for any app

I had the same weird problem. I want to say I narrowed it down to being logged in to your facebook on the same device's browser. That is what I came up with. The only way I found to fix it was to do a complete factory reset.
Facebook is a poorly coded app. Sometimes it's just on their end. Clearing data + cache should fix it... But if it doesn't you may need to play the waiting game or use a 3rd party client for Facebook.
I can't find a solution to the issue I am having. It happens with all Gaming apps and if I click on a link in Facebook it will close out. The app will close out with no error message. Not sure how to fix it. If traced it down to the initial Google updates after activating phone. If you factory reset the device and stop the auto updates. It will work just fine. If you install the 30 something random google / bloatware apps. The issue comes back. ive also tried flashing the factory firmware a couple times and that didnt work. The S8+ is an ATT phone if that helps.
If anyone can enlighten me, with a fix for this issue that would be grand.
I've search google up and down and cannot find even a mention of this issue.
