Ok Sprint Visual voice mail doesn't work sorry. Don't complain about it it doesnt work on any GB roms right now. If you need to check VM go to the dial pad and hold down the #1 button and it will connect you to VoiceMail the real way.
Next my roms are ment to be bare roms meaning nothing but the Android OS. maybe so apps hear and there but I try not to. Meaning mail.apk moxiermail.apk and many others are not going in this rom it saves 3MB And thats what I like sorry. Download it and install it but I wont include it in my roms.
Ok well I mainly post over at SDX since I used to be a moment guy but I think its time to also post here for my roms.
Been deving for only the year I focus on making Bare stock roms. I also update all the apps to the latest date so no going to maket and finding out you need to download 10 apps only being on the rom for 10min. I also to help with speed by pngopt, zipalign, anything else I can do to it.
This is Based off Evervolv-AOSP|GRH55/Android 2.3.1 to me its the best one so far. This is just to show everyone how nice GB is but that it can be a daily ROM right now. Just a few things have been changed apps and libs that aren't needed have been taken out all up to date apps. And launcher pro to make the phone glide.

RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15. 00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.exe - Swype gave licensing to HTC/Sprint to add it in. Meaning swype can be added to any Evo rom. Do not trying taking this swype out and making it work on another phone cause it wont work it will only work on this rom.

Fool proof way to flashing - This will wipe your phone starting this build and up by formating system, data, cache granted i only have a few evos to test but I know my builds work. This will insure you flash this rom correctly.
Your phone will be cleaned as if you walked into the sprint stock and picked this up from them you will lose everything so back up if you need to. SMS BACKUP+ does great to back you text messages. Ti Backup can back up your apps.

GPS-wifi are a hit or miss. CM7 kernel that is included with this rom right now is the only one that works with my test phones. I did try the latest CM7 kernel but nothing.
ronnienyc would like to tell people that have HW 004 Camera does not work at all.
HOW TO
This rom wipes BOOT, CACHE, DATA, SYSTEM to make sure you get a clean install. Back up your apps if you want.
This rom will also format everything already you are warned but by it doing this you will not have any issues if so then wow its working on 5 evos 001, 002, 003, 004, 004. Camera, GPS, wifi are a hit and miss.

Any way.. the wifey has a moment.. i installed a custom ROM and kernel on it and it worked great for a while then it just started fallin apart. Random bootloops.. battery drain within 2-4 hours. Shes even blasphemed by saying shes going back to the pixi..(nooooo!!!!)
I noticed the ROM you have your moment.. so shot to the thread and saw a JIT version and nonJIT version.. which would you recommend?
also which kernel should i install on the moment? i saw you have ixanes so maybe i will roll with that...
I know this is a EVO forum and trust she wishes she would have just waited and got the EVO.. which i did and am so happy.. But anything to keep her from yelling at me about how much she hates her phone and that i should have never touched her phone and blah blah blah...

Jit is there for the speed getting 9+ mflops etc. non jit uses the arm11 source.
both roms use inxans's kernel. But to me use this Ti-X 1.3.X its not the newest but its the most stable I'm going back to the DE03 rom because it had no issues. She will love you again when you do this. Join the forum over there and we will help you out.

LauncherPro is the only launcher on this rom you will need to go into market and download a new one.

I think he's asking how come there's no stock gb Rom? Also the biggest issues ive noticed with other gb roms is gps issues is that fixed on here

GPS is working fine for me too. Accurate to 30 meters.

Does the hdmi and camcorder not work on this? Seems that every Rom with GB doesn't have those working. That's the only reason I haven't tried a GB Rom. I don't care much for 4g since its not in my area.

I do have a rooted EVO 4G with S-OFF, but running FROYO and stock Sprint ROM (sw version 3.29), which honestly is a somewhat unstable and laggy. I would like to upgrade my ROM to Gingerbread and with the latest software updates (SWYPE), and I have a couple of questions that probably people looking around these threads might have as well:
-Does the camcorder and 4G work with this ROM?
-Do I need a custom kernel, or can I just proceed with clearing cache through recovery menu, then flashing the new ROM?

What a great phone.

Coming from Captivate, the inspire Is like the best phone I have ever used. So smooth and snappy. Everything just works, especially GPS. Even stock rom with all the att bloatware was great.
Can't explain the performance. the specs are pretty similar btw the two phones. my captivate could slow down even with the best roms.

+1 I love my Inspire so much. I'm staying strictly full original with mine. This machine is just a pure gorgeous pleasure to use. There's something to say about grabbing ahold of cold metal. It just feels significant. The same goes for the lowly HTC Freestyle, which I looked at in the store. It also is made from metal.

I too am a big fan of the phone. This was the big winner in my Atrix vs Inspire shootout. There's a thread about it.
One of my main issues was the battery life. That was a real sticking point for me on the Inspire. However, after switching to Leedroid's rom with SetCPU on the default (smartass) setting, I'm currently at 45 hours with 4 hours of awake time, and 30% of my battery left... It's ridiculous.

I'm on revolution 3.3. I wonder if set cpu works also. I'm getting full day of average use without an issue right now with stock.

I think that depends on if they used an OC kernel. LeeDroid explains explicitly that he developed several presets for SetCPU for different situations.

I love this phone!! Seriously, the best phone I've owned to date and exactly what I was looking for. Super fast and very responsive.. not one single complaint here(other then speaker volume, but I'll live )

I had some concerns about the speaker volume also. But they've alleviated because all stock Inspires do it. It's something to do with an automatic control where the volume is initially low and then progressively gets louder as any sound remains going. I can live with it also, since I know it's a common thing and not a fault in my specific unit.
Beyond this, I would say this is the utmost flagship model for Android. There's something to be said about the cold feel of metal which these are made of. It just seems significant. I wish the other companies would get in on the metal uni-body design.

Odd, I love my Inspire, but the one problem I do have is the GPS. I can rarely get locks, regardless of radio or ROM. Have found no fix for this unfortunately

Yeah... I've used 3 different roms, aside from stock, and my GPS has worked perfectly with each.

Sorry to hear! I've messed around with the GPS since I've had it and I haven't had any big issues with it. What impresses me even more is that even with GPS disabled and network location on, it shows a spot within 5-15ft from me!! Almost dead on exact without GPS on lol, I love this phone!!!!

GPS has been hit or miss on depending on rom. MIUI, shoshkai (sp?), dillagif 0.1 only (sp?), and now cognition 1.0.1. All of the others haven't worked so well in terms of GPS.

So I've had approximate 5 Captivates since last July and thinking about getting AT&T to let me switch phones since I've had so many problems.. Tech support said, and I quote "Yeah we've had a lot of problems with these phones, and I'm hoping the S2 can save face for Samsung" - NICE!
Fellow Captivate owners - Is the Inspire the one to go with over the Atrix?
From what it looks like, the pros over the Captivate are:
1. GPS works
2. LED Flash (thought I wasn't going to need this until the phone became my main camera)
The "cons"
1. Not AMOLED, but still a nice display
Anything else? Looks like you can still use custom ROM's on the Inspire..
How is stock battery life on the Inspire (without all the fancy shmancy things running (live wallpaper/facebook widgets, etc) ) ?

I ask this question because I'm running gummy Fe 2.0 with the EP1Q and I'm wondering if i switch back to ee4 radio if ill notice a difference at all

I'm running gummy 2.0 with the EP1Q radio. No problems whatsoever.
The rom is independent from the modem from what I understand and I have been getting better service with this radio.

I just downloaded the EPQ1 radios yesterday as i was having some troubles with the 4g dropping and have had great signal so far. I will keep an eye on it and report back in a week. Of the phone calls I've made today, all were crystal clear and good volume so fingers are crossed that my problems are solved.

For me, there wasn't much of a difference

It was better at holding the 4g signal but nothing else has been too noticeable. Still better then ee4, that **** switches between 3g/4g every 10 minutes.

I have never hit speeds like this on EE4, ever. Not to mention 4G is more consistent with much less searching

well my issue is that i've been experiencing data drop out like crazy sometimes and ive read of other people experiencing the same issue. i think i'll just reflash the EP1Q radio and see if that helps

For me, EP1Q modem has less data dropouts (4G->3G-1X) for me. Also, if it changes, the transition is fast.

I can also vouch for EP1Q, the data stream is definitely more stable in general, though I haven't really noticed any considerable speed improvements.

I only had the signal totally drop out on me once on EP1Q this past weekend but it quickly came back. Then again, they have said that they sent one of those roving techs to check my area and they have admitted my area needs a tower but they need to get approval from the higher-ups to install one.
Apparently Verizon has been doing a lot of work in my area according to some press release in which they are expanding 4G coverage in my area. They say that by Sept. 15th I should be seeing 4G in more places across my city. All I can say is that I'm happy to see that.
Oh, and I'm glad I have unlimited data since I've noticed that doing any kind of streaming anything, especially NetFlix can eat through data like nothing I've ever seen. That and Slacker Radio can cause you to eat data.

I thought the GB leak modems weren't accurate with speed tests? Or was that just the leak itself. Also....

Yeah the GB modems just didn't play well with the speedtest app itself.
However, going to the speakeasy speedtest site via your browser produces accurate results.

What is the baseband name for ep1q modems? I flahsed the q modems but my baseband version stayed the same. Either the flash didn't take or I already had them. Im on gummy2.0

I thought about it, but my system runs perfectly and after looking at what 2.0 gives you I don't really see anything I care about.
I could care less about 7 different lock screens, I did the tweak to totally eliminate the lock screen. I tried the imoseon kernel briefly, but I kinda prefer the more saturated colors and ended up swapping back.
I think over clocking is a waste of time after trying it for a while, so unless I am missing something I don't really see what I would gain from the 2.0 swap although I am certainly open to suggestions??

I'm not sure how it could be any more stable than my system. Mine runs weeks at a time without a single freezeup or reboot if I want.
When you say it is "more polished", are you just talking about visual tweaks??
I must have changed ROMs 50 times when I had a TouchPro 2 and every time it was a noticeable improvement so I'm not opposed to switching for a good reason. My system now runs so well however, I don't really see any compelling reason to update just because a new version is out.

While there is no need to convince you as people can choose to run whatever version of whatever rom they want, I find it curious that you would choose to not update. It seems to me that the type of people that generally visit these forums and mess with their devices are the same type of people that generally want things when they are updated.

The updated kernel provides additional stability fixes and fluidity to the UI.
TSM parts is a very handy tool to have.
the update to the base theme gives the phone a more professional feel to it. (i.e. polish) the dialer is vastly better than the pervious.
Again, if you choose not to update, so be it. I could not care less one way or the other. You seem like an intelligent person, so you would know best what works for you.
To get this thread back on topic....
I am running the ep1q radios but as I mentioned earlier, I cant seem to find how to determine what version you are actually running. My Baseband version did not change when i updated the radios. I would like to say I am getting better performance.. but its hard to know if its the radios, or something else.
Any chance that one of you knows how to determine the radio that is installed?

Actually, I'm usually as you say the kind of person that immediately updates everything as soon as possible. My system runs so well however, I just wasn't sure it was worth going through the PITA of setting up the whole system again.
Now, after reading your post however I may have to rethink that. If the system really will run better/more efficiently etc. I guess you have me getting the itch to update again.... ;-)
It seems like I have been working a million hours a week lately (I'm an IT Administrator among other things) but if/when I ever get some spare time I guess I will just get to it and update."....

NS4G: Who has reverted from an ICS ROM back to GB?

Just curious: who here has tried several different ICS ROM/Kernel combos and gone back to GB?
I've tried just about every ICS ROM out there, with a substantial amount of the Kernels, but it's the little things that are starting to bug me, such as my phone freezing up overnight and making me miss my alarm in the morning.

I will never revert to gb. I've been using ics roms since the sdk builds came out and I think the OS has come a long way since then.
Lately, my phone has been running flawlessly with AOKP Milestone 2 4.0.3 with Steve Garon's kernel. Performance has actually exceeded that of any gb aosp rom I've used. Super-smooth, quick, and efficient, zero lag and my OEM battery lasts more than 30hrs.

I too have been on ICS since the SDK dropped, and I really love it. However, I do understand your frustration. I run into bugs and stutters here and there on pretty much every ROM I've tried.
I did revert back to GB (Oxygen 2.3) for a couple days when I was getting annoyed with a few persistent bugs, but swiftly changed back in favor of ICS beauty.
GB seems far more responsive in a lot of places, which i envy. But these ROMs are all still in their early stages and are only going to get better. The official NS4G update hasn't even been released yet.

I did revert back to GB (Oxygen 2.3) for a couple days when I was getting annoyed with a few persistent bugs, but swiftly changed back in favor of ICS beauty.
GB seems far more responsive in a lot of places, which i envy. But these ROMs are all still in their early stages and are only going to get better. The official NS4G update hasn't even been released yet.

This. I too revert back to cm7 when I run into a bug or I get fed up with the mini stutters here and there. But once I'm back on cm7, I find myself downloading and flashing new builds of ics. Its beautiful and for the first time it feels like I'm using a new, awesome and complete OS. Gingerbread looks so plain and tacky to me now. Even with themes lol.

I'm never going back to gingerbread, ICS is just so stunning, it contains all these high quality animations and graphics. I think you just haven't tried the right rom. Try AOSP+ by android user and flash Eugenes ICUP kernel and tell me what you think. it will sure drop you jaw cuz its so fast.

Why would anyone revert back to an older version of a software is beyond me. ICS is young compared to GB so of course bugs exist, bit there aren't any bugs that make the phone or any feature unusable

I can completely understand if someone needs rock solid functionality or compatibility with older apps. Luckily, my phone is not critical to my life or job, so I can afford to experiment and run bleeding edge software.
Someone who relies on their phone for work or safety is justified for running a proven, stable os. ICS is improving rapidly, but it is good enough for me and many others as-is.

Have you tried AOKP or vhgomez's 2.5.1 with a Eugene icup or Steve Garon kernel? My phone is smooth and quick with either combination. In fact, scrolling, browsing, and switching apps using the Recent Apps feature feels much better than with aosp or NSCollab 2.3.7

I haven't tried those two in particular, no. But unless they're a massive leap forward from AOSP there's no chance at all. ICS seems to occupy more RAM as well.

That's a good point. I have yet to find out how these people post such ridiculous battery times with ICS. I don't recall "Android OS" ever eating up so much of my battery on GB.

I went back to GB but came back to ICS, I love ICS but went back because of random reboots and mainly battery life. Now I am on AOSP+ 2.3 with speedy 5 kernal and i found out that after i turned Skype off,that battery life is great, so i think some of the problems are related to software compatibility issues that shouldn't take that much of time to be solved. In general, i think ICS is smoother specially when it comes to the built in browser, plus the native support for my native language ( I liked this sentence ) . Hope Google will solve all the issues with the next update.

Android OS battery consumption is just a bug and does not accurately reflect actual power usage, per Google engineer Dianne Hackborn. Ram usage is just fine as well as ics manages memory very well. I typically have only 50mb of free ram, but experience zero lag or slowdowns.
As far as battery life, I NEVER reached 30hrs with a gb rom, but I exceed that with 4+ hrs of screen on time with Steve Garon's kernel:

Agreed with the above. ICS is Android in its best flavour so far. The UI elements are so much more polished and I just love the little touches. Its also faster than gingerbread and honeycomb ever were. And they weren't exactly slow to begin with.
I've had no stability issues so far after just over a month I'm happy to report.
Running stock rom rooted with stock voodoo kernel.

I had problems too, I went with CM9 patch 1 or whatever and didn't uses a kernel and this is working great for me. When things get stable I'll use adifferent kernel

I don't have the option to run the stock ROM, because there is not yet one for the NS4G. However, this is what I am most eager to try, so I hope it comes available soon.

Rooted Sensation & T-Mobile WiFi Calling

I have a rooted Sensation 4G with T-Mobile. I haven't yet installed a custom ROM. I'm still running the stock Android 2.3.4 and HTC Sense 3.0.
One reason is that I use the T-Mobile WiFi calling app extensively. It works seamlessly, popping up and taking over anytime I have access to a WiFi network.
I'd like to upgrade to a custom ICS ROM, but am concerned that I will lose the T-Mobile app in the process, and I read that there is no good replacement yet that works well with ICS.
Is that true? Does anyone use this or have a good alternative? What are other possible solutions?
Also, T-Mobile/HTC are going to push out the ICS update soon to the Sensation. I'm assuming they will have a working solution for this. What happens if I download that official update onto my rooted phone, that also has an unlocked bootloader? Will it unroot, and relock the phone? or will it cause problems?
Any advice would be appreciated!

If you really depend on wifi calling the then I would wait for the oficial OTA. Wifi calling is still a hit and miss with custom ICS roms. Otherwise the roms are great.

I had this same issue. I couldn't get WiFi calling to work with any ics rom (when I asked a question on xda about it, I was basically told hwa and dual core support was more important than a lower monthly bill and being able to make reliable phone calls while at home. I'm not on an unlimited plan). If you want a custom Rom that works pretty good, arhd gingerbread is pretty good and I use WiFi calling on it all the time. I can usually use it for 4 or 5 days before I need to restart it. (thats not battery life, by the way) Ics roms at the moment don't seem to be really optimized for USA sensation users. Not really the developers fault because as far as I know, we have no recognized USA sensation Rom developers so it's not really a priority for them. I could be wrong about that though. Not sure about the bootloader relocking (i don't think so but don't quote me on that) but you will lose root. The US ics update will be here "soon" and I am going to wait for a flashable, pre rooted stock rom to come out.
This is just my opinion and experience.

I guess its hit and miss but I am a Tmobile customer and I'm rooted WITH a custom ROM and my Wi-Fi calling WORKS! I guess I got lucky somehow. I'm running Android 4.0.3 and VIRTUOUS Inquisition 4.0.2. .it seems everything is working as it should be. I don't know if this is the case for all Virtuous 4.0.2 users. All I can say is it works FOR ME..I'm very happy about that too. Also hotspots, tethering works too.I don't know about other users, but its all been functioning for me.

I have used two ICS custom ROMs ARHD and RMS DX4. On both my WiFi calling worked just as it always has. RMS DX4 was a beta ROM, yet on both v1.0.0 and v1.0.1 WiFi calling gave me no troubles.
Now at harru, you really should refrain from starting two threads on pretty much the same thing in one day.

It works for me as well but it drops calls. Doesn't matter how good of a reception I have of wifi it'll still drop. I also have horrible service at home, but its fine once I force it on 2G and turn wifi on.

This. It works like a charm for me with HyperNonSense. I've never had a single problem with it.
But other people can't get it to work at all. I'm certainly not doing anything special. So it seems like it's luck of the draw

Yeah at least on ICS I have no luck with WiFi calling, I can make one call & then it just force closes, installed 3.0 and it works flawless, I'm just waiting for the ics update to drop then hopefully we'll get it cooked in a rom

I'm working with a stock install of ARHD with Faux's kernel. At first, I thought wifi calling worked great. I did a test call for a few seconds right away, and it was fine. But as I found out later on, it would show wifi calling, but calls wouldn't come in. Placing an outgoing call fails to connect, and then it drops to cell for half a minute, before it "reconnects" to wifi calling. And then it'd fail again.
Another thing I noticed with wifi calling was I would lose time at the rate of roughly a minute an hour. I noticed this when texting. Since the stock presentation in ARHD is to use carrier timestamps, I could be engaged in SMS conversation, and see my outgoing texts get put before prior incoming texts, because my clock would be slow. I could toggle wifi off and back on (go back to cell and trigger time syncing) and catch up again. Afterwards, I'd again lose a minute or so an hour until I did it again.

I don't know if it helps a whole lot, but I just rooted my T-Mobile G2x and loaded the Hellfire ROM giving me Android 4.0 and the wifi calling works with no snags, it also took my Quadrant score from the usual 1600+ to anywhere between 2400-2800. It showed as being faster than a Galaxy Tab 10.1, I Love it!!!
