I am in need of help and will pay anyone to help that lives close to Toronto, Ontario Canada.
I traded a phone to a guy for a Desire S and its unlocked, Rooted, Running a custom rom, its overclocked, and it has something called "clock orange" or something installed.
I just want it running stock Android, and he was supposed to return it to stock before we traded and did not.
I am afraid of bricking the phone, and would just like to pay someone to do this for me please.

^Is that what you need? Sorry I don't know anything about this. The guy said my phone was from Europe and would not work have data ever, but I inputted Rogers APN settings and got all the Data and MMS working just fine so...I have no clue.

Oh and dumb question...how do I get to recovery : / I've owned this phone (my favorite phone ever!) for like 10 hours lol

hold power button.menu will appear.choose restart then recovery.
link work here.
To recovery:
Press and hold volume down then power. You should now be able to see an option which is "recovery".
Use volume rocker to get to "recovery" then press power to select.
I strongly suggest to look at the general's section as it has a lot of threads for you to know about your phone. Including the above instruction.

There a lot of roms that are available on the android development sections.
But like what you said, you want official roms right and maybe warrabties and all that. Your best option is to RUU your phone to the latest, or the base version it came with it. (kindly look on the general's section for my post "Possible fix for the eMMc problem)

Thanks guys! Yeah I love this phone, always wanted an HTC but Rogers selection has been small. I've gone through so many phones this year alone and this...THIS one is the one I am keeping, its beautiful. Love it.
I started with a samsung Captivate, bought out right an Xperia Arc, traded for a Nexus S, traded for an iphone 4, traded for another Arc, traded for a BB Torch, traded for a Desire Z (or g2 in states), then finally traded for the Desire S.
I have always loved the look of the desire line, all the way back to the first Desire. I am very happy to have got the Desire S as I feel its the best Desire, with the HD coming in second.

first off, if I am braking any rules by posting this here then pls direct me to the correct forum (very sorry if its in wrong place)
anyhow, I just got a new contract with a Samsung Galaxy S2 on virgin mobile (UK) & am hoping to root it so I can "maybe" install a new rom etc but the main reason I want root is because of the bloat that came with the phone. I don't really want to damage the phone, so I wont try until I know I am confidant in doing it without killing my baby.
can anybody either tell me how search works here because I cant find any info, or failing that tell/show me the easiest safest way to gain root on my baby.
if I root will virgin be able to tell if I ever need to send it in for repairs. I've heard of yellow triangles & flash counters & USB jigs & am very, very confuzed. pls help

if I root using this method can Samsung find out if I have to send it back, or is my warranty null & viod if I root?. thanks
I believe any method of rooting will void your warranty, so its best to return it to stock before sending it back to Samsung.
So again ill ask, is there any way for sum one to connect to my pc & root it for me pls? I don't want ics flashing, I just want root.

It's not that difficult, invest some time and you can do it yourself.
There are even youtube videos guiding people how to root their device.
If you have trouble or questions about a specific step ask here.
I wouldn't recommend giving a random person access to your computer via teamview...
Its usually:
- Find out what ROM version you currently have
- Look for the right kernel with root matching your ROM
- Get usb drivers for your computer
- Reboot your device in download mode
- Use Odin or Heimdall to flash the new kernel

OK so I found the insecure & secure kernel for my fone (XWKI4) & I'm pretty sure cf-root is the way to go to gain root, but now I'm confused about the custom can in cf-root, I've read that in ics USB storage don't work, video record don't work etc so my question is this, should I root it at all as ics official will be out very soon & that has everything working except flash so should i wait? The 1 thing that's pushing me towards say CM9 ICS is the lack of touchwiz UI, if i choose a custom rom I get the full ICS UI experience which is what I'm after, but as this phone is very expensive I really don't like the idea of voiding my warranty 2 weeks into a 12 month contract. Suggestions welcome (& yes I've spent 6 days reading ALL sections & posts.)

you got it wrong man , you don't need the secure and insecure kernel anymore , look for the superonclick method. all you have to do is download a couple of stuff , plug your phone and click.

everything works on ICS , it depends on the ROM you choose. so far the only incomplete ROM is the Cyanogenmod 9. but i'm currently on Resurrection ICS Remix v1.0 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854 )
and it runs great. it's blazing fast and super stable and everything works great. including camera and sd storage.

Yep, when you reset you loose everything on the Storage. So back up your pics, music, etc... Whatever it is you have stored that you dont want to loose.
EDIT: Thought your name looked familiar. The good ole Evo 3D. I still love that phone!

were you able to edit out the "AT&T" logo in the framework? I noticed in the screenshots, you left in the annoying 4G logo (which i guess is fine assuming you are connected to 4G)
My Future hopes someone mods that framwork to show H when connected to HSPA+ and L when connected to LTE (right above the signal bars)
Does tethering work 'out of the box' on this ROM?
Can you include the extended power menu/3-dot removal/button remap mod to this ROM please?
Also, if you could it would be nice to have the LTE toggle that is included in the Rogers and Asia roms

Supposedly it is simply a matter of replacing two files in the system/framework folder. There is a thread containing the files in the development section the updated files for the latest update are on the last Page

Trying now.
Suggestion: Remove AT&T boot animation and the automatic attwifi network for the wifi settings.
I loaded it up, but the tethering does not work. It still says contact AT&T or 611 to enable tethering.
EDIT: I followed the instructions from another post to modify the telephony database and now tethering works. I'm not sure if that can be baked into the ROM though.

For real!!! I maxed it out had firerats repartition so i had about 360mb internal and over clocked it to max which was 768mhz or something like that.. it was a mess lol

Ahhhh i remember my HeroC days. That was my first android as well. Was a trooper when you didnt use sense. Sense was so wrong for that device. I also always had it on performance maxed out too. Was so much fun. That thing took a beating. My baby threw it in the toilet 3 times before it finally crapped out. Lucky for me we had the best buy waranty for it and got a free shift out of it. But i think i should have taken then nexus instead. Ohh well this phone is still bad @$$!

Lol your so right about the sense thing... i powered it on so many times the power buttons is chipped lol i post a rom later. Also evwryone should try this rom!! The dev is working with me and we are making it better =] the dev is working on this project daily too!! So be happy lol =]

I ran nothing but Sense . Flashed so many Roms the Power button stopped working. Also had the Best Buy Insurance at the time. Got my moneys worth out of that :laugh: . Also ended up Bricking one .

I almost did, messed up the partitions and then I used a ruu to put it back.. Also a update on this Rom should either be released 7/10/12 or 7/11/12 ( depending on time zones lol)
Just a little heads up guys, I took down the update because of it failing when trying to flash it in Clockwork Mod. Rom is still up and stable.

I think I might put some tweaks in it just to see what I can do with some things >_< maybe I could get it a lil slimmer.. This Rom has internal memory of around 360mb =)
As the name implies, stock rooted Odex or De-Odex 2.29.707.2 with Sense 4.1.

this will be my first custom rom so ..
i have unlocked bootloader, unlocked sim , rooted and touch recovery..
i should just download the file , keep it in the root folder and flash through recovery ?

For your first custom ROM, I'd pick something a bit more modified than this. This is just a stock ROM.
Pick another such as a Team Nocturnal one, CleanROM, King Cobra etc. They have the extended quick settings, advanced power menu etc....mods that improve user experience ten fold.

Does anyone have a problem with Facebook? Keeps force closing when I open the application. I also noticed that when setting up the accounts, Facebook for HTC Sense is gone.

Being stuck on 2.20 with no root is really starting to suck! This would be a great base. I assume one would need to keep the 2.20 (1.85) build prop to keep all the ATT stuff since this is German. I'm getting desperate for root like a crack head licking the floor for crumbs lmao.

Could be bad file. Delete the facebook_client apk from the /system/app directory and then install it from the market. I remember having this problem on my ROMS and that is what I had to do. It doesnt de-odex right.

Turge had to produce a 1.4.1 patch for his ROM to fix some FCs and also a Social-Network-Friendstream patch - so a few little gotchas with the ROM I guess. You could probably look at his patches to get a sense of the fixes.
I can't connect to the 4G att network here, don't have wi-fi to try out. Back to CR 4.5 again!

hey scott, i think you forgot to remove facebook_client.odex...
and that was the problem..
What "under the hood" differences / updates are in this compared to the other 2.xx builds?

Wont happen for a long long time i would need to look into kernel and everything to get a better understanding of how it all works 1st xx

any bugs from the elelinux rom should be the only bugs because its being based off of it, but other than that, it should run smooth

yes that's right any bug's elelinux rom has this has. But some might not be here anyway since i compiled a Rom not long ago but would not compile all the way so i used some files here and there. But 80% is elelinux anyway
