OK...I'm having a little trouble hoping a dev can help...using apk manager to modify and edit my apk I filled the steps to the letter...decompile...compression....compile..zip....sign...ect ...ect ...but when I try to install the apk to test it it says "error" "there is a problem parsing the package" ..I'm a newbie at this but I'm working hard at it and I learn quick but this is getting kinda frustrating. Do you have the logcat of what the Package Manager said?
That error is usually caused when the download isn't complete, I.e. the file is not proper...
That said, if you were sideloading the app, and you believe that you have the complete file (.apk), then you can uninstall the original app, and place the new app in system/app, give appropriate permissions and reboot...
You need root acces for the abobe, and the method in general is referred to as the root explorer method...

So I need to give it root access and then try to install the apk again but in the system app section? And to add there is this app on there called "video player" it basically functions like the Google YouTube app but not as good. But sometimes when I go to see the not-yet-installed YouTube apk on my SD card it has the "video player" icon. I don't have any problem with sideloading any other apk on there so could that be the problem?

I can't understand what you're trying to say!
Refer the guide mentioned in my sig vv
And see the step: installing apks through root explorer
(The rest of the stuff isn't related to your device)

For some reason some app doesnt work for me too, so i get problem parsing package . I used to have parsing package problem with flash player on my atrix4g then after some time i installed it and it worked good im not sure if its coz they fixed anything thro updates or it just coz i made some changes into my device i still can't download google books on it but my friend who has the same device and android version can. what im trying to say is you could try older versions of the app or if you really need it you can install custom rom , btw i can't install youtube either on my atrix i still work with an old version that came with the stock .

Generic youtube app provided by manufacturer causing OFFICIAL one to never install. *simplified*
How old is the atrix? Sounds strange if you cant even install google books. Maybe that could be a problem with the phone, not just older software.

hi,guys.. i know all of you wanna create or mod an android apps and wanna use it or share.
i think newb like me already tried to change the image files from res folder of apk but the problem is edited apk files just dont install,it always say application not installed, the problem is the apk isn't signed, you have to sign it.. most of newb dont know how to sign apk. so here is an android app "ZIP SIGNER" it can sign your apk file. in this app just input your edited apk and chose output location and press Sign, and your apk will be signed. and you will be able to install your edited apk...... so try it.
here is the link www.4shared.com/android/rIOfv0YR/zip_signer.html
press the THANK button is my post was helpfull
if anyone looking for the market link, here is the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kellinwood.zipsigner2&hl=en
4shared link is saying dat its not valid and market link says that its not compatible with your version..

Please someone needs to do this for me, I have tried everything. Literally every script, program, adb command. Nothing has worked. I either end with a apk that cant be installed, or i get an error in my progress.
I am trying to change ES File Explorer icon to the cm10 one and name it to it aswell.
The zip contains the ES app, icon to use, and I want the app to be called File Manager.
If anyone can do this it would be much appreciated. I thought this was going to be easy but ive been trying for over an hour and a half now.

Has anyone managed to get freedom ( the app) to work on lollipop or has a legit copy of the apk they could send me? I've tried getting it multiple times it I either has a problem were it can't install or it installs and just force closes every app I try using it on! If you have one please do me a favor and send me a legit link to it thanks in advance!! (Media fire, Dropbox, mega, something along those lines)
