Hi all,
I am rather new moving from a HD2 to a sensation now... May I just ask if it is normal for Sense 3.5 ROMs to give you a low in-call volume... on top of that, there is this robotic/metallic sound when i hear my friend speak to me...
I didn't stay on stock long enough so I cannot remember if the stock had this issue...
What are the chances of this being a hardware issue?
Hi all,
Please take some time to read this cuz I reverted back to stock and all, but it proved that it wasn't a hardware issue. I was and am using Insertcoin sense v3.3.7 and it has low in call volume. No one able to replicate this?

Hi,
Quick question, and I have searched!
Been trying out a couple of Dream roms (cyanogen 3.6.8.1 mainly) and people are telling me they can barely hear me during calls.
I'm using the internal mic, I can hear them fine so i don't think the solution is the meltus mods as they're for the speaker volume right?
What do I need to change to increase the volume of calls?
It's not the hardware as if I reflash my ION rom people can hear me fine???

Yes, there's one file that you have to replace in the update.zip:
http://www.mediafire.com/?0zzzi5kykjz
It's in system/etc...
Thank you so much Back to cyanogen 3.6.8.1 (or 3.9) for me now
in the thread from the Fatal1ty rom you can read on the first sit, that he has replaced the Audiopara4.csv with the one from the Rogers-Rom.
this step was the first i have done , after i recognised the mic vokumen is low.
I decided to put this in the developer forum because i really feel like this is a problem with the roms/tweaks and needs to be looked into.
If the moderators thing otherwise i am sorry then.
I have been getting complaints with friends over the fact that i come in muffed. When i plug in the headphones that came with the phone to talk they say there is a big increase in clarity. They say when i am muffled they really need to focus to understand what i am saying. I decided to try a few different roms and surprisingly the quality has been different. I have used the same radio in every rom test as follows:
Radio : 10.56.9035.00P_10.14.9035.01_M (This should be the newest TMO OTA radio)
Roms:
Android Revolution HD 3.0.1 (Initial Rom i had. Very Muffled. No dual core patch.)
Android Revolution HD 3.0.3 (Upgraded to this one wondering if it will be fixed. Same muffledness. Had dual core patch)

Stock TMOUS 2.3.3 - rooted/de-odexed(This had almost no muffleness, was the clearest of them)

Stock TMOUS 2.3.4 - rooted/de-odexed (This was almost as good Stock 2.3.3. Very hard to tell the dif)

Superlite *v1.3* by HTCCLAY (Very bad muffling again)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229073
InsertCoin Sense Android 2.3.4 Stable 2.3.0 (Medium Amount of muffleness)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198684
http://insertcoinrom.blogspot.com/search/label/pyramid
In all cases the headphones preformed the same amount. They were pretty clear and really helped the muffleness except in the case of insertcoin. The headphones also seemed to have a slight amount of muffleness to them, the difference between headphones and mic was slight.
I have seen other posts about this issue but no clear explaination or dirrection in trying to fix them. I hope this jump starts stuff.
It seems the more modified roms are the ones experiencing the issue... but obviously this isnt the most comprehensive testing.
I did these test over the course of 3 hours with my brother. He stayed in his room in the house and i stepped outside on the sidewalk in the same place every time. Wifi calling was NOT used.

i tried ARHD and IC2.3.0 - no muffled voice from my end. in fact, it was crystal clear. IMO if you've plugged in your earpiece and it sounds ok on the other end, then there's a high chance its the set's microphone thats faulty.
i suggest switching back to stock rom (S-on etc) and see how it goes. if its still muffled, its time to go for warranty
Have moved this to the General forum (for the time being at least).
You'll need to find out if other Sensation users have the same problem. I haven't had anyone tell me they have trouble hearing me with any custom ROMs.

Well i have tried the stock roms and its been reported to sound alot better.
It would be nice if we had that multiboot thing going on our phones lol
And i didnt try S-On again because i heard it runs the risk of bricking....
I have the same problem except if I was to call someone, my voice to them would sound like garbage. Obviously its noticeable as well cause they will tell me they can't hear me and it sounds like crap.
For me,
Roms that have this:
Android Revolution
Senseless
Roms that don't:
Virtuous(currently on)
i had those "garbage" sounds on almost every phone i owned accept for the Nokia 5210 and below Its telco problem not the phone.
phones with garbage sound (that i have owned) : BB9800, iPhone2/3/4, Desire, E72
@yajinni - have you tried switching phone with your brother ? let him use the "muffled" phone instead. it 'could' be the way you hold it

Its worth a try i guess but if it does do that its retarded. I use android because i hate apple but i get the same issues as them? lol
Will test with more roms and will try Virtuous when i get the chance. Are you using 1.3?
Hey all,
I love the rom scene, but unfortunately with the Infuse 4G I always have to go back to stock due to a volume issue.
With any rom I've used the volume on my speakerphone is cut probably in half. I love to use this phone to listen to podcasts and whatnot on the speakerphone so I always end up reverting back to the stock rogers infuse rom.
Does anyone else have this issue and is there a workaround?
Thanks!

Albee320 has a mod floating around some where
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447833
Hi friends, I read a few threads about people complaining about poor microphone quality in phone calls. Well, even I am having the same issue, don't know if this is because of custom roms or what.
Also I noticed that, sensation has a two extra mics around camera, one near speaker and other two at bottom. But these extra mics seems to only work while recording videos. I have done some comparisons and Well sense/stock HTC camera records videos with excellent audio quality but when I'm on cm7 or miui the audio quality in video seems pretty average. Similarly when I was in cm7 Rom i never had people complaining about low microphone output. But on sense roms I have every caller asking me to speak more louder. So the point is, is there any mod or any dev can mod the sensation microphone to boost microphone gain? Maybe a fix for this in sense rom.
People, I would like to know your experiences too if you noticed the differences in other roms.

I have a similar problem. I tried a lot of ROMs on Android 4.0.3 and all-in microphone is very quiet! So far as I am suffering and I hope there will soon fix it.

Same problem with my device. The phone is good for everything else except phone calls. I have complains to speak louder, also network coverage sucks. I've changed a lot of roms and kernels, but it's all the same. Maybe the phone is meant to as it should on 4G networks, I'm currently using on 2G GSM network.
If someone comes up with a solution, please PM. Thanks
Hello, been having trouble with low volume on the normal call speaker. I did a search and found nothing. It seems noticeably worse since the recent upgrade. Anyone see a similar issue, upgrade related or not?
volume
My phone has done the opposite after a recent update. other people can't hear me as well. Hope it's a quick fix.
I'm having no issues. Might have nothing to do with the upgrade. If it were many would be posting. You might try a different ROM.
what Rom are you using?? in my experience, volume problems coming from the kernel, so before flash another ROM, try to flash another kernel... whith cm7 I recommend lord kernel 8.6 CFS

Thanks all for the responses. I think this is definitely upgrade related. My volume was low before, but bearable. I think this is my reason to stop screwing around and root this thing. I will try a new kernal with a stripped stock ROM first and go from there. If that doesn't do it then I'll try another. There are a few I've found now that say they increase the available call volume. I think Clkwrk is one of them in fact.
