This is a question i need to ask because there is no one is telling is KPM need KPH 1st..please answer this question..
-sorry for making new thread..this just to make a newbie user to be more clear on how to flash KPM firmware-
no, you only need kpe first; if you're using kph, you must've already flashed kpe
that said, you can flash from kph to kpm, but some of the more experienced people here suggest you reflash kpe, then directly flash kpm
there's a tutorial - search for it

Tanx..i have found the tutorial..haha..
if you are on xxkph then you can directly flash to xxkpm
Ya pandarox is rite. In more simpler way i will say like this. You have two options.
1. If u are already on stock kph then blindly u just flash single file of kpm as pda file. No need of kpe. [because it is presumed that u have already flashed kpe files to flash kph at that time]
2. But if you are on any FROYO version then first flash 4 files of kpe & then flash only single file of kpm as pda file.
*Cough* under my sig.

hello all , im a new owner of i9003 galaxy S. Recently decided to upgrade my firmware ( had 2.2.1 as default one ). Used Odin . Upgraded to 2.3.6 ( KPQ ) with no problems. Noticed one strange thing , when trying to turn off wifi , it will keep "turning off" state forever , and u cant turn it on after that . Tried 2.3.4/2.3.5 firmwares but they all seem to have this problem.Flashed back to 2.2.1 - no problem , everything seems perfect .
How u flashed???? First flash xxkpe then flash xxkpq. Then delete dalvik cache from recovery mode.
first flashed to KPM
then KPN
Then KPQ.
Overall tried almost all recent firmwares.
O.S. Can you tell me the exact steps to delete that file plz ?
What is your Froyo version ?
Before flashing xxkpe have you selected the latona .pit file and selected repartition in Odin?
Follow the xxkpe flashing instructions to the letter, then proceed to flash xxkpq over that (just select it's .tar file as the pda in Odin).

Ye , followed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133787 instruction very carefully , still get that "turning off" problem.
the problem is
2.2.1 - Poor performance compared to 2.3.5/6 - if not that id stay on it
So, i flashed Bam's kernel and ran into some problems, sometimes the phone get's stuck and the screen doesn't come back on when someone is calling you, the screen is black and you just hear the ringtone, you'll have to remove the battery..
This doesn't happen alot but is very annoying.
So i searched around, and seems like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1451218 is better..
Any confirmation?
What are the steps of installing both his kernel and rom?
I didn't find anything about installing in his thread.
Currently running stock JPKPH and latest Bam kernel v13.
Thanks!
First download XXKPE and XXKPQ here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647
then follow the guide here on how to flash XXKPQ
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14933114
Once your firmware is XXKPQ
download CF-ROOT here for xxkpq
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351056
then flash via odin select PDA then browse cf root
after rooting download the kernel and the rom in the link you've given,
go to CWM recovery and install zip (browse the vurrutROM) once installed flash the kernel through odin same step (PDA in odin).
Hope it helped.

Just a question, which one is more stable, Using the stock rom and bam's custom kernel, Or Vurruts rom and his kernel?
And if following the steps CORRECTLY can anything bad happen just because of badluck? i mean if you do it right, the result is 100% success?

Ive personally never tried both BAM's and vurrut rom . Maybe you can go to the thread and check on the feedback.
and if you follow the instructions properly nothing's gonna happen and yes if its done right its 101% success. Make sure you take a backup before proceeding with anything (Who knows it might not be you lucky day ) . Just kiddin bro ... Go ahead ..
Currently using XXKPQ + UC Kernel V15.
Before I flashed to another firmware, all is stable, no big issue, stable.
So, when the XXLE4 value pack released, I tried flash to it but then I faced random reboot issue after flashing the custom kernel, doesn't matter BCK or UC kernel. I tried ignore this and continue flash the cleanvaluepack V2, then my csc became unknown. Doesn't know what happen.
So, I give up and restore back XXKPQ using nand backup that I backup earlier before flash.
After few days or weeks, I saw DDLF2 has some good comment and feedback. So I decided to tried it.
Same thing happen after I flash custom kernel(tried both BCK V14 and UCK V15).
The only kernel without issue is the default kernel which made by ganeshbiyer(only add in ROOT).
So I began to wonder whether it is caused by custom kernel not quite compatible with the new firmware.
Then I decided to do a fresh flash from XXKPE to XXKPQ.
After flashing UCK V15, same problem happen again!
Tried factory reset, wipe data/cache/dalvik cache but no use.
The only way is to restore using nand backup and problem is solved.
So, what is happen to my phone? Doesn't like to be flash?

Hi there,
I've also experienced this before so you have to know that only stock kernel will allowed you to have a successful ported XXLE4.
Try reflash again XXKPE > XXKPQ --->> straight away update firmware without root + change kernel.
Hopefully it ll solve your prob.
Cheers

When I flash to other firmware, I always do a fresh flash from XXKPE(with latona) twice and then the firmware which I want to upgrade.
i see, well if you said you flash UC v15 to your KPQ, i guess it wont work as it was developed for CM9.
For BCK , have you used the latest 1? BCK .....14.tar .
HAve you tried with universal as well?
i flashed using universal previously before going to flash liteDDLF2, no problem at all.

I flash UC V15 for GB version, not the CM9A8 version. It work fine before I reflash the phone.
For BCK, I only tried the universal v14 fixed.
May be I will try again someday when I got time.
Is it ok if I use latona twice before flashing XXKPE?
Doesn't know why but there is once when I use latona once and flash XXKPE, my internal SD data still there.
It is not formatted so I wonder if the latona didn't clear all the data inside completely...

I am on CM9A13 and want to go to this ROM. Making a new thread as otherwise I am spamming the DEV thread and there was no thread for this ROM in General section.
I had asked some questions and got following replies.

You should probably read a detailed tutorial before flashing, as I think you´ve never flashed before... and also, you can search within the forum, so that you don´t spam this thread, that´s a developers thread.
1) Is XXKPE a must or XXKPQ will also do?
KPE
2) Where do I get the pit file?
Comes with KPE.
You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647
3) DDLF2 is zip file so how do I flash, as zip or extract the tar.md5 file and through ODIN
Extract the zip and flash it via Odin in PDA
4) Which ODIN version to use?
I´m using 1.85
6) CF-root not required? I assume the kernel takes care of that.
To be able to install the rom you need a CWM. Cf-Root, Bam´s, etc. I´m using Bam´s 14.
Thanks for helping
5) Where is EXT4 install file?
You have to download it.
Instructions, you need to enter CWM.
- do a full backup with nandroid;
- install the attached script (DO NOT REBOOT AFTER THIS STEP);
- restore backup.

Now my (more) questions are :
1) Why flash KPE only first, any reason for that?
2) Is DDLF2 better or XWLF2 or ddkp3 (suggested by shriomman)
3) After say DDLF2 flash, can I flash BAM15fix kernel or is it must to install BAM14?
4) Is CF-Root install necessary as a separate step or when I flash BAM kernel, it will be installed too?
5) Which EXT4 script should I install? Shoould I do this step after flashing BAM kernel or after that?
6) Can I use the latest ODIN 3.04?
The main reason for flashing this ROM is that I am going on a vacation and need a good battery life which CM9 is just not giving.

KPE, because you have to put the pit, pda, apboot, modem. Everything from the beginning.
2) Is DDLF2 better or XWLF2 or ddkp3 (suggested by shriomman)
Don´t know
3) After say DDLF2 flash, can I flash BAM15fix kernel or is it must to install BAM14?
You can flash any CWM
4) Is CF-Root install necessary as a separate step or when I flash BAM kernel, it will be installed too?
No. You have to flash a Kernel, only one. BAM, Cr-Root, Vurrut
5) Which EXT4 script should I install?
I think anyone, but I´m not sure.
Shoould I do this step after flashing BAM kernel or after that?
After, because first you need to do a nandroid backup with CWM.
6) Can I use the latest ODIN 3.04?
Not sure about the compatibility with i9003.
Hey all I just flashed the CM10 A4 but I am not satisfied with it. Do decided to get back to DDLF2 but with few EXT4, deodex and MODS.
I am here describing the steps to get the best I9003 with best value pack DDLF2.
Kind request to expert to read the steps and tell me the right process to get it flashed. Thanks in advance
Steps:
1) Flash the XXKPE twice with all the files
2) Flash XXKPH (read somewhere that it it good to remove bugs)
3) Flash DDLF2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741370&highlight=how+to+deodex) it says to flash BAM kernal, but I was using the CF-ROOT
4) Flash CF-ROOT for DDLF2 (or the BAM v14fix followed by v15) ( I read in a MOD that the BLN works good with BAM) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355675&highlight=deodex+ddlf2
5) Root (if not already rooted by flashing)
6) Convert to ext4 with the script
7) Flash the deodex DDLF2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323661&highlight=deodex
8) Flash unwanted app script http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323661&highlight=deodex
9) Flash the MODS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751694&highlight=deodex+ddlf2
