Hi guys.
Just after downloading and installing the new update for my Desire S, it now seems to be bricked...
It installed succesfully, rebooted, and it was stuck at the bootscreen.
Then I pulled out the battery, booted again and still stuck at the bootscreen.
I can get into "hboot" (holding volume down+power) but when I select "recovery" in that menu, it shows a red explanation mark.
How can I fix my phone?!
Thanks!
try to reinstall recovery image then go to recovery and flash any backup.
until u can go to bootloader thats good

1. Download this http://www.4shared.com/get/JeuI2H2s/...YIMG-3200.html
2. Rename to PG88IMG.zip and put on sd-card
3. boot with vol-down pressed
4. wait.. press vol-down (yes) to install
5. reboot with vol-down pressed
6. select recovery and press enter.
7. wait
8. use recovery
does that help?
@Adidas108: thanks again! yeah I think for the next months I stay with stock need to relax a bit after this

Although I don't know how people having this problem can get the PG88IMG.zip on the sd-card, just a tip; I used a sd-card reader.
UPDATE: Yeah, it worked! thank you man!
good for u man
never pull out battery.better use volume up+down+power button to restart phone.
cheers
Glad to hear you sorted it. An I'm glad I stumbled across this because I am guilty of doing numerous battery pulls x x glad I know about this reset technique now. Thanks again guys. Also I would recommend Endymion Rom sense 3.5. No problems as of yeaterday and really smooth. I even have around 250mb free ram most of the time. Happy flashing.

Hello all
just did the ICS w/root flash upgrade to my xoom cause it was wheezing, on it's last leg. funny thing after using the modded cwm factory reset/ wipe this that everything.
then used cwm to install the upgrade. installed root explorer. and to my surprise all my old data/dir's are still on the sd card
WTF this is gonna be a problem? or not?
thanks
Calm down, why is your question so angry? LOL
You are now rooted - so even a factory data reset from CWM will not erase your internal SDcard Data. It is not a problem, you can manually erase your un needed data from Root Explorer if need be. Is all good, no worries.
endless loop
Thanks for your reply. this xooms been giving me fits for a 3 days now.
started having to reinstall a few new games. then TB started messing up
did a factory reset and lost use of the home button.
so i tried to install tiamat, on reboot all i get is a little white revolving kinda circle on the bottom right of screen.
tried installing wingray that worked. til i powered the xoom down. on reboot it gets stuck in the pulsating ics screen. only way to get it to boot is too reflash and then it boots
so everytime i power down it gets stuck in loop.
can anybody help with this? is it hardware?
thank you

Sounds like it might be the software. What system image did you use to root? Did you flash the GAPPs as well, when you flashed the ROM? Unroot, go back to stock. Start from scratch Re-Root then flash the Wingray ROM and the GAPPS from here : This is a pretty solid ROM Let us know.

Thanks
just found the way to flash back to 3.01,
now it boots everytime i turn it back on. geez that ics was a nightmare, wonder why?
first thing it did was start downloading updates
what version is the easiest to root?
holy crap, it's only updated like 6 times now, its now working on ics

I really does not matter which version you are on before root, because you are going
to push a dif image on there anyway. Great you are back to stock and have a clean
slate to work with!
1. Downloading the rooting-update zip file.
Download the zip file from here - http://goo.gl/Om9aP
Now place this on your external sdcard. - Sorry this is a requirement at the moment, like I said this is a bit rushed.
2. Flashing recovery
1. Download this Recovery image. http://bit.ly/iLRAIV (place this image in you SDK PlatformTools Folder, or which ever folder that contains your adb.exe)
2. If your device is locked, now is a good time to unlock it.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot
3. Flash recovery
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery-Tiamat-R4c-100611-1150-cwm.img
Once you have verification on your device that this has been flashed, reboot your device by holding volume up + power.
Then 3 seconds after you see the Motorola logo, hit volume down. You should now see "Android Recovery" in the top left corner. Hit volume up to boot into recovery.
4. Flashing the Xoom-Universal-Root.zip file.
If you're in clockwork mod recovery you can continue (This recovery image will say it is clockwork mod) . If you're not looking at clockwork mod, then you need to repeat step 3 again.
In cwm, go into "install zip from sdcard" -> "Choose zip from sdcard", then select the Xoom-Universal-Root.zip file you downloaded.
Note: use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select
Reboot your device and then welcome to your rooted device!
the xoom came along way today, from semi brick to ics with cwm. but the universal root tool did not work root explorer/cwm cannot get su.
dang sure learned alot today
i found the update.zip in that script from xxlordxx and did all that but it did not work

It depends on your taste. I sent you the link to that ROM because it is STABLE and you can flash it just to make sure that your system is working correctly. It's best to try a few diff ROMs and see which one best suits your needs!---------- Post added at 12:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:32 PM ----------

Sure, no problem.
I've looked through the searches but I couldnt really find the answer.
I've rooted and unlocked my HOX but I can't boot into bootloader through volume donw + power.
I have CleanROM 4.0 flashed and the 4.1 version just came out. It says to use TWRP so I will.
How do I go about removing CWM that I installed through the one-click tutorial?
I want to put TWRP after that.
Thanks a lot XDA.

Make sure fastboot I the power settings is u checked then you can boot into bootloader with the button combo. And the easiest way to install twrp would be to use Goo Manager from the market, it will install it for you.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it.
I still can't boot into bootloader with both fastboot checked and unchecked. However I did install TWRP through Goomanager. By doing that does it mean CWM is gone?
It freaks my out that I can't use my H-boot. :crying:

You can use your bootloader, you need to make sure fastboot is unchecked, and when you hold power + vol down make sure you let go of power and keep vol down til in bootloader, and yes cwn is gone you can only have one recovery.
Just keep trying you will get it.

Assuming you still have CleanROM installed... try this:
1. Boot into the Android OS as usual
2. Press and hold the power key; this will bring up the "Phone Options" dialog
3. Select "Restart"; this will bring up a second "Phone Options" dialog
4. Choose "Recovery"
The phone will reboot into recovery. No need to press and hold volume down or anything like that. See attached screenshots.

I was just going to say, use the Advanced Power Menu way, which is what I do almost every time to get into Recovery.
If you do the power+vol down way, make sure the phone is fully powered off (with fast boot unchecked in power settings). Hold down vol down, then depress the power button for a few seconds, release power, but keep holding vol down until you get into Hboot.
Might just be (hopefully) pilot error. If neither method works, you have some other issue.

Sideload or push a custom rom to flash in recovery or flash the stock rom in fastboot and you`ll be fine.
OK, but i stuck in that moment of loading a system when you see google's logo and i cant' go out from that.

Press power for about 10 seconds and it should shut down, after that press volume down and power and you`ll get into the bootloader.

Oke, glad it worked mate
Got my new Oneplus One and rooted it. (CM Version 11.0 xnph25r?). But, when I press Vol Down + Power, it just bootloops into a never ending TWRP logo screen. When I press Vol Up + Power I get a picture of a small Penguin! If I press the Power button by itself it boots normally. So basically my phone works, but I seem unable to boot into recovery mode (which scares the heck out of me). Can anyone venture a guess as to what is going on?
Thanks!

Use fastboot flash another recovery, or redownload another TWRP recovery. Personally I use PhilZ Touch.
I also flashed philz recovery and it is working great, if you can't manually install recovery there are plenty of oneplus toolkits on these forums that just need fastboot.

Thanks. I'll try that and rport back tomorrow!
Yes use a toolkit from here and install philz recovery. All should be good

I wiped everything - including the OS-- and can only get the "penguin" when holding Vol UP + Power.
Anyone want to buy a nice looking paperweight?
I truly feel sorry for you, so no fastboot at all? And did you try different Oneplus One toolkits?

pouring myself a large drink now!
Maybe you can talk with a Oneplus Rep and tell them you received a phone that would never boot up? I just read on a XDA forum that if you hold you power button for 30 seconds 5 times it will reset a certain chip. It actually worked for a couple people. I would give it a try if I was you.

Hey no worries, I was in same situation as u. I fixed mine. I will write instructions for u later. I'm at work rite now.

The penguin IS the fastboot. So this is what u do (having properly installed ADB and have android SDK):
First in android SDK folder go to platform tools where fastboot.exe is located. Download the proper TWRP recovery and name it "recovery.img" and place it in this folder. Also In here hold shift and right click on a clear area, from the menu choose "open CMD here". Now turn off ur phone and after hold power+volm UP to boot into fastboot mode. Connect phone to PC and in CMD type "oem unlock" then type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img". This should flash the twrp recovery. Now turn off phone and hold volume DOWN +power to boot into twrp. U can flash w.e ROM u want in this recovery now.

did you try to wipe/cache or do a factory reset then reboot. Question - Is this your first time ever rooting any android device? do you know how to use adb? since you can simply push the Su zip file over to your device from recovery
