Hello, You aren't allowed to post you email apparently and it has been removed.
Making this forum the only way for us to help you.
First of all you should ensure wether you have a MileStone (EU) or Droid (US)
You can tell by looking at your phone and checking if it says Verizon.
If it does, I can't help you any further and you should ask for help in the Droid forums. If it doesn't, I'm close to sure we can help you out
So now that you know which phone you have, you've probably done half of the work already. I can't really tell what your problem is, but I guess you have these 2 issues:
1, You have no GPS-Application. You can buy, or get one for the phone. I'm talking about softwares like Navigon and iGo, which aren't free though, but allow you to navigate without internet (for if you don't have an internet contract.)
If you don't want to pay any money and own an internet subscribtion in your contract, you can just use Google Maps to navigate! Update it through the android market and you're good to go!
2, Now for the second issue:
Unfortunately we don't have any chance of getting custom roms! Only the Motorola Droid Does! There is a way through nandroid backups, but seen the fact that you are just new to the whole thing, I'd recommend you to explore the forums and later on install MotoFrenzy, or the official update to Froyo from motorola, which they will, according to them, release by the end of 2010
Hope I helped!
Greetings, Mike

Wrong thread.. This belongs to General.
And to answer your question - not that I know of. You might try searching google for companies that unlock it, or you can just try calling tmobile and telling them that you are going out of the country for a while, and they will unlock it for you (if you are persistent)
thanks for the soo fast reply
sorry for the wrong forum post...
I already know that i can get the unlock code from t-mobile, ebay or the unlocking companies ...
I just saw so many phones that can be unlocked through apps and i thought this might be the same case for G2x
thanks again
I see people take this phone rooting and flashing way to serious you knew ahead of time that it was locked and htc said they will unlock it eventually , get a job and quite crying .

Did you really just make this thread?
Can this be deleted and can we all just act like this didnt just happen?
Thanks.
Yea we do
Noob. Paying good money for a phone. No one has the right to restrict us from anything. we would like to optimise the software, tweak it, overclock it and strip it from bloatware.
Like I said to Htc. I paid for the phone, whether I break it, piss on it, root it, **** on it. Have sex with it, drive over it, bake it. It's my f*ckin phone to do what I like with. Do I want root.

whattttttttttttt do u realize this is XDA ? why would you post something like this in a forum dedicated to take our devices as far as they can go , and like they posted it here before me, we payed for this device we have the right to do what ever we want with them and if we want to root it is because we know the benefits of rooting a phone do some reading and u will see how its a good thing to root your device...........

Come on guys, dont feed the troll. Its just what he wants you to do.
I'm no developer nor expert on rooting, flashing (well, not the phone kind lol) or programming, but i do understand why i'm looking forward to the unlocked bootloader on Sensation! I'm still delaying my upgrade so i can get this dual-core beast and give thanks that these guys can help me to get the best from a £500 phone! Only adding my £0.02, but not sure this was a wise thread to start. (scratching head)

Hey, you guys! I've been stalking these forums for a long time and now I have a problem where I will need your help. Now, before I get slammed for it, I've searched these and other forums for what I need, I've Googled for hours and hours on end, I've emailed people, and I still can't find a fix to my problem. OK, enough complaining, here is my problem: I bought a Nexus S 4G a few months ago for only $120. I planned on getting it flashed to MetroPCS through their MetroFlash program. I went to their corporate store, and they said they couldn't flash my phone for legal reasons, but they directed me to a man who could flash my phone. I go to him, and he wants $150 to flash it, I say hell no and decide to do it myself. I'm regretting my decision now because ( A.) CDMA Workshop is hard as hell to learn ( B.) There is almost no support out there for this phone.
Anyways, I want to know, has anyone been successful in flashing their NS4G to MetroPCS at home? If you have, please enlighten me! I've been brain-****ting myself to make this work. Right now I'm stuck at the part where I write the ESN. I can read ESN, but when I try to write it, it says "Failed.. ESN has not been changed." I can read/write everything else, except for ESN. I have unlocked it through the SPC and the Internal Security Password. Another issue I'm having is that when I try to read the memory, it gives me an error message saying, "Process is stopped. Phone does not answer" "Process is stopped at: 0000:1000"
This process is too hard, and I call on the great minds of XDA to help me out! Please, all and any information will help! I will love you forever! Thank you in advance!
Edit: I'm using CDMA Workshop 3.8 Trial Version by the way!
Edit: I forgot to mention, everything in this thread is hypothetical and for educational purposes only.
For legal reasons xda forbids on esn hacks. I don't know where you would get help on this but post it if you find something.
Did you search youtube?
Why do you need to change the ESN? That's illegal anyway.
You can follow the Cricket instructions over at howardforums.

Yes I did, and I messaged several youtubers, but sadly no one wants to help me without charging me, which sort of defeats the purpose of doing it myself.

I need it to transfer the ESN from my MetroPCS dumbphone to my Sprint Nexus S 4G. I'm trying to get the NS4G to work on Metro. Also, can you please link me to or help me find those instructions? The search function over there is weak and I can't find anyone who has information on flashing a NS4G. Thank you so much for guiding me in the right direction though!

I agree, the basic process is universal but right now I can't find help for my issue, and even in forums for phones other than the NS4G, I can't find anyone experiencing the same problem. I could use any and all the information I can get right now, because the NS4G doesn't have any readily available simple tutorials for it to be flashed to MetroPCS. There are tutorials for Boost, Cricket, and PagePlus, and I have tried following those, but run into problems with those as well. I'm at a dead end and need help
You don't suppose to change your ESN. You call your carrier and Activate the ESN on your carrier, all you really need to do is load Metro PCS prl.

My friend has an EVO flashed to MetroPCS. I thought it was neat. There is also a thread where someone went to craigslist to find a person to flash an Epic 4g. You may find something there. Keep us updated, please. And if you figure it out for yourself, more power to ya
i'm looking to do the same thing but not to MetroPCS... i have another carrier i would like to flash to but it's a new carrier and there's NO INFO online for flashing to them... and they're online so i can't go to their store to flash this... what info would i need to get this ball rolling??
Just pay to have it done by someone who knows what they're doing. I got my NS4G flashed for $40 including 1st month of service.

Lol I had a forum member help me out with this almost step by step to the point where he helped me get everything working except data,, but I had to eventually go to a guy from Craigslist to get data working. I wish I could give him credit but he wants to remain anonymous. You know who you are! Anyways, I feel terrible for not keeping you guys updated I'd like to make it up to you guys by helping you guys flash your phones or anything related to phone flashing:thumbup:

Hi, so jimbridgman and I have been working on the Boot Loader unlock stuff, and may have an idea. It seems to easy to be true but is worth a shot.
Now, this means we need someone to test it. Here is what we are asking for:
1. at least 1 person to test, we will not need more than 1 person for this initially, but if it fails we will likely need more so feel free to volunteer anyways and we can renegotiate the terms for a later test
2. you must have access to a computer with fastboot and be familiar with how to use it.
3. You must be familiar with how to get yourself out of a general softbrick, such as a bootloop.
4. You will be paid 20% or $150 of the bootloader unlock bounty (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1837363), whichever is lower if and only if this method of unlocking succeeds.
5. If this fails, which it most likely will, You will almost definitely be HARD BRICKED. That means you now own an expensive paper weight. That said you will likely be able to get a replacement through AT&T if you are with them so make sure you know your options.
6. You must be on ICS or Be willing and know how to upgrade to it.
7. Your phone must be a U.S. AT&T model

You must also fully understand that we do not take responsibility for what happens to your phone and we are well aware that it will likely brick. you CANNOT hold us or anyone else responsible if you are unable to restore or get a replacement.
That said we will do our best to help you unbrick if possible, but it likely will not be.
Please reply here if you are interested and Jim or I will PM you with more info. feel free to ask any questions you have here as well.
I'm in. PM me in you need to, I have nothing to lose, and (hopefully) everything to gain! :good:
Thanks lkrasner!
So this will test to see if we are even able to use that BL we found, just so that everyone has an inkling of what we are doing.
If your still looking for volunteers Im in
I have fastboot on both windows and ubuntu
I have recovered from many soft bricks
I am willing to sacrafice my phone if I need to
I've got to do a bit of charging - didn't realize I let my phone power off with no juice, so I'll report back in about an hour or so... Sorry.
Edit: I will PM Jim and lkrasner my results. Stay tuned guys.

I'm in when y'all are done with tweaking. Building a Linux server for my daughter's school. It's going too good I have to have some excitement over the weekend.
...
Can you tell us what you tried or a simplified run down?
mind sharing the details & result?
Without getting too involved in details, basically the awesome developers here made up a flashable .zip using the NS Bootloader. Flashed fine, no brick, but as Jim mentioned above, still locked. Also, as mentioned by Jim, he and the other guys are still tweaking things, so please... EVERYONE... stay patient and don't start getting all worked up just yet. I'll leave the rest of the updates to him, lkrasner, alteredlikeness, and/or cogeary.
And guys, please don't explode this thread with asking for updates, when they come, you will be informed as soon as they are discovered. Just stay calm, patient, and keep fingers and toes crossed...
Thanks for letting us know what's going on. I'm just an info junkie. Its all for the bigger picture. Plus when I talk about it with people like my pops who's been using Linux and embedded systems since the beginning I can give a little run down. Who knows maybe a fresh idea might pop out. Again thanks for the update and all the work.

Once you have flashed have you tried doing the fastboot commands to attempt to retrieve the device id and unlock keys that are needed for the Moto unlock bootloader site? Maybe the NS Bootloader is locked but has the ability to be unlocked via this site. Just a thought.

I was thinking the same thing.
I am no expert, but that seems highly unlikely. considering that moto doesn't support unlocking our device, and it is their web site you need to get the codes from.
