Sent from my G2x.

It's a known issue with the latest commits Don used for EaglesBlood 2.4.
The latest nightlies have fixed the issue, now we just have to wait until Don incorporates them.

Switching to Cyanogen Mod

Hi guys I'm currenting running BAMF 2.0 and I'm having a lot of problems with charging and USB mounting and so I was wondering if I should switch to CM7. What problems have you guys been having with CM7? Also what kernel and radio should I flash when I run it? Thanks!

You need to use a Froyo radio (like the one in my signature). Also CM7 does have it's own issues: see the CM7 thread for more. I'm using leanKernel2.5.2+tun and it works great. Make sure to flash the kernel in recovery and not in ROM manager or Kernel Manager -- it can cause issues. Some of the charging issues I've seen with the GB Sense Leak seem to have something to do with the kernel, or so I've read in the leanKernel thread. May want to check that out before you switch.
Good luck!
I've been using CM7 as my daily driver since the newest build came out and have had very few problems. The most annoying issue is that in order to get 4g you have to turn 3g on first, then switch to 4g and it will connect, but won't show you how many bars you have. Aside from that everything is working pretty flawlessly for me. I think that it is way better than any of the sense based roms and it's definitely cool to have an AOSP rom since I upgraded from the OG DROID.
I wouldn't say I've been having zero problems, I don't have the updated baseband above (care to point me where I can find that/noob instructions?) but overall I have mixed feelings with the update - most of them are stock-android issues I think. The radios are a mess, I lose 3g regularly and have to restart, gps problems, and bluetooth is a complete disaster (as it was on sense). Other than that, I've had issues with exchange, issues with my contacts (may have been a backup problem), issues with some widgets. Generally it is MUCH faster than sense on bootup, but some games are laggy with nothing else running.
Also: Netflix!
Really looking forward to future updates, once the kinks are worked out I will be pretty happy. Very glad I'm off sense and all that VZ crap is gone.

[Q] Any stable GB ROMs?

I have read a lot of threads and i get the impression that the GB ROMs are not and will not be fully stable until an OTA comes out, which as we know from VZs track record could be never. In any case, I am currently unrooted and running the leaked MR2 RUU. I absolutely LOVE it as it has rebooted on me once in a week or two. Being that some update will come out next week from VZ, I feel forced to root my phone. If I do, and want to keep this same level of stability it seems my only option is the froyo Eaton ROM based on MR2. Ideally I'd like to run GB, but with the instability and being that all of them have some known issue that isn't fixed, Froyo seems to be my only option atm. What would you all suggest? Thanks!
I have tried a lot of them. I have been stuck on the Thunderstick rom.
I have had no problems what so ever, but your mileage may vary. I am also on the mr2 radio, mr2.5 didn't play nice for me.
I have also been following what is going on at the3ry rom that would be the one I would jump to if I wasn't so happy were I am.
Just make the jump try them out and find what works best for you.
Try Das Bamf 2.1. It may have a bug or two but the thing is damn stable. I use it as my daily ROM. What issues were you hearing of?
Na man, try Gibgeritis muthafucka.

Thank you all, appreciate your responses. The problems I have been seeing range from wifi problems, to poor battery life, to reception problems with 4G, and interface/layout issues.
That sounds like the bugs CM has been having. AFAIK all the sense based GB ROMs are basically stable right now
You will have to decide (try) yourself. I am using Das BAMF sense 3 RC3. I have had no problems with it for the three days I've had it. WiFi works great, GPS great, I'll keep testing, but so far no problems.
I'm still on Bamf 2.0.v 5.. I haven't had any reboots or werid things ever. I'm new to rooting, I've only ever tried their time... From all the froyo up. Never had anything bothersome. Get about 29 hours with under clocking and juice defender

sense based GB ROMs dont have any of these problems (tried most, stuck on Gingervitis 3D v1.0 beta) and even CM7 when matched up with the right kernel (trial and error) is easily liveable as a daily driver. If you can live with the factory bugs rooted roms should be no problem. I dont get where the idea factory roms are issue free. Half the reason I installed froyo roms were to fix apps, GPS and other issues the factory software had built in. I havent had a random reboot yet since the developers got the kernels more stable or any other major issue and the rom is still a beta.
Das bamf 3.0 rc3 has been very stable for me everything works great and with rc4 around the corner its only going to get better

Hopped around to Various ROMs and have pretty much tried them all. My best ROM would be Gingeritis. Knowing that each phone will have it's own personality/just as the owner's do, I recommend to try them all and find what works best for you.
I have tried several of the GB roms, my issues have been more problems with the looks than the performance. I tried a few that had the clear button on the left, and one that had the transparent pull down and that just drove me nuts. I want just a plain on Sense 2.1 rom with GB. I don't need all the bells and whistles and graphics. Plain Sense and GB so I can use Netflix. Does anyone know of a plain ole Sense rom that is Gingerbread?

+1 I have enjoyed the ROM. Only issue I ever had was after modding my sense ring, I got a lot of reboots. Idk. Probably something I did.

bamf sense 3.0 rc4!!! so stable for me :]
Bamf 3.0 RC4 has been stable for me so far.
i'm on bamf 2.1 now, and my biggest complaint is that it does not provide voicemail notifications. I must restart the phone to see any voicemail notification. Do the other GB roms have this issue as well?

[Q] What ROMS would yall recommend??

Currently I am running the G2x Weapon ROM with the Faux kernel and i was looking to change up. Besides CM7 and maybe MIUI what ROMS would everybody either recommend or prefer??
Well this thread will get closed pretty fast as Rom choice is a matter of opinion.
In my experiences:
Weapon is the most stable with everything running the equivalent of stock with a few extras. I haven't tried EaglesBlood in a while or several others.
CM7 is CM7. MIUI is MIUI.
Whitehaux, the creator of Weapon, also ports MIUI. MIUI was my daily driver for a while and it works great but lacks WiFi Calling. The last MIUI build is wonky so I flipped back to CM7... and it is surprisingly working very well, but I'm having an issue with my Market downloading certain things.
Just depends on what you want. I would start with Eaglesblood and a few others. Then try Weapon. Then play with MIUI and CM7 and see which one you prefer to live with.
Stock and Stable or Wild and Crazy?
[EDIT]
Didn't see you were on Weapon already. I have to have toggles in my drop down menu. Going to a rom with no toggles is torture, but there is a sweet looking rom over where MIUI is that looks pretty slick. It lacks toggles though, so I won't flash it.
Weapon, MIUI, and CM7 are my 3 choices.
Yeah Weapon is really good. Hey Player, what turned you off MIUI?
CM7
/10char
The 10.21 build gave me hella problems. Restarts and random bootloops. I kept having to flash it over itself... then eventually my wifi errored out and when I tried turning it off... it would instantly reset. I flashed several miui versions and kernels but required a wipe to clear.
At that point I needed my phone so I flashed CM7 and just stuck with it.
All in all, miui was ported but no one really focuses on it to make things work. It gets updated to the latest weekly but nothing more. Slowly things broke and weren't fixed. The newer the rom the worse it got IMO.
However I flashed the same 10.21 version and same kernel from my SD to my friends and he said he hasn't had any issues. So I don't know. Maybe its my phone. CM7 isn't MIUI but I have an ICS theme which makes me happy.
There is a new dev solely focusing on MIUI for the G2x and fixing the bugs. So maybe ill switch back on day.

[Q] HellFire Sandwich vs EAGLESBLOOD ICS AOSP

Which rom is more stable atm? I know hellfire sandwich is based on cm9 source from arcee, who released his APLHA code.......apparently that alpha source code of his had fair amount of bugs (Although I am not sure how many of it is fixed/worked around in HFS, can someone compile a list of know issues for hellfire sandwich for me if that isnt too much work? )
According to EBICS, they had the rom built from aosp, isnt that supposed to be cleaner with less issues? On top of that, nvidia just released the tegra sdk i believe.....should we expect some major performance improvement/bug fixes in the near future for both of the rom?
what do you guys think?
First, nobodies going to give a list of what does and doesnt work, just read the last 5-10 pages of the thread, and the first post and youll get an idea of what does and does not work.
Second, HFS is simply a tweaked version of arcee's CM9 (with bugfixes and other things in there as well). EB-ICS is AOSP, that means it's source code is a HEAVILY modified version of stock android 4.0.4. (this does not include the things like RIL and other things that they borrowed from CM9 to get the rom working) EB-ICS may also have many of their own mods that bring alot of the customization and functionality of CM9 back, but it will not have most of the CM9 settings your used to.
Its honestly just up to opinion at this point. i cant tell you which is more stable, youll most likely have to try them out for yourself.
also, NVIDIA DID NOT RELEASE THE SOURCE CODE YET!
that was just a version for a tegra development kit, and we cannot use any part of it for our phones, because the chips are different.
Hope that helps
AWWWWWW!!!!
And thank you for your help
EaglesBlood felt like it was faster to me. I went from HFS 1.4 to the CM9 based EB to EB AOSP to HFS 1.6. I probably like EB more, but HFS has some tweaks that make it a slightly more enjoyable experience.
They're both great, though. As soon as a new build of EB is released, I'll go back to that and probably just hop back and forth between ROMs between builds.
+1 for Eaglesblood
I'm using Eaglesblood AOSP 5.5 and it is definitely more stable on my G2x than HFS 1.9 was. Hellfire Sandwich was not very responsive, and crashed and rebooted a lot (although at the time I had the old baseband). I would go with Eaglesblood hands down.
In my experience on my G2x, Eaglesblood ICS performs like ****. Hellfire Sandwich works great. EB always makes the phone unresponsive for a few minutes after I turn wireless on. I assume it's something to do with all the apps updating and syncing at once, but I never have this problem with HF. I have to reboot the phone at least once every 48 hours or the alarm clock stops working. I'll sit there and watch it pass the time it is supposed to go off and it doesn't (This has resulted in me missing an early morning class - NOT happy). Various apps crash more often on EB, and sometimes it seems as if the whole OS crashes, when the app disappears and the launcher is also gone.
My own personal experience, Hellfire anything over EGB anything. Whether ICS or GB.

From my personal experiences, I would have to suggest Temasek's GB ROM (build 135.1) for your GB Pleasures, and TonyP's ParanoidAndriod JB Flavored ICS Build 11, or Genesis ICS 8/1/12 Build. Both rock the ICS world.
I can't use any ICS build currently, as I depend on WiFi calling to be mostly stable for me, and I have found that only in the GB Roms at this time.

What ICS ROM do you like best???

I know this has been done many time let try to help each other along with the kind developers. The ones I know about are Eagles Blood, Genesis, Hellfire Sandwich, and Owain's UNOFFICIAL BUILD.
If you know of more list them. If you like one VS the other list it and explain why and compared to what. List what you do not like about each one as well. Lists of likes and dislikes.
If one Rom has one thing working and another Rom dose not maybe this could help the developers.
thanks
How about you try them out for yourself and see which one works best for you?

I have tried all 4. The point is to get ideas flowing. What problems you have on one VS the other. What you like on one VS the other. facts VS Opinion.
I personally like Owain's UNOFFICIAL BUILD, he consistently updates taking in everyone's comments. I've tried Eagles Blood, and Hellfire Sandwich and I feel I have the most freedom with Owain's. I don't believe Eagles Blood has updated their ICS Rom since March and Hellfire Sandwich you can't edit the lock screen apps
If I was incorrect with anything sorry I might have just not seen it when I had them on my phone
I personally like resurrection remix rom.

Eaglesblood's AOSP pre-release is downloadable since about 5 hours ago. There's supposed to be another release today/tomorrow.
For the pre-release (my observations - do not generalize!!!):
*NO WiFi
*Lock screen seems to be off its normal position - it has the unlock/dial/messages/camera, but the camera is somewhere under the screen (?!?!) and I didn't even know it's there until someone pointed it out.
*Battery life seems pretty bad FOR ME. I had about 90% when I flashed the ROM last night. I only installed APEX launcher, Google maps, Dolphin HD, and updated ROM Manager and did a bit of browsing and messed around with some settings - not more than 30 mins. I also set the alarm to ring in about 5 hours. Surprise, surprise: the phone was dead when I woke up because its battery had dies - hopefully the release coming today/tomorrow will fix that.
*Stock browser doesn't work for me. It shows some all black or all white screen and sometimes just quits. That's why I installed Dolphin that fixes the problems.
*Google maps sometimes turns all grey. It's still there I can zoom in and out and use all the functions but I can't see them. I have to restart it - sometimes multiple time to get it back to work.
THE LAST TWO BULLETS have been common for me in all ICS ROMs I've used (EGB AOSP, Hellfire Sandwich, Genesis) and these are the main reason ICS is cannot remain my daily driver. I keep going back to Miui.

the rom is for samsung s2 i taught the thread is about lg g2x?
I've been using HFS for my daily. It's pretty stable and quick, and it just works. (for me anyway).
Owain's seems really innovative, but it just had too many issues for the time being. I may come back to that one on a later date when more things get ironed out.
In the meantime, I'm awaiting the release of HSF.8

Okay for me it's like i've tested every ics rom for g2x out there except genesis.
hellfire: it's a good rom but has some data drop issues didn't try it with harsh kernel yet may be on 1.8 coming soon.
eagleblood: 4.0.4 using it right now not bad smooth but few issues camera is 5m pix the gps is awful keeps on droping signal not battery percent option. data is perfect thou no drop ,
cm9 euroskank: this was the best rom i had up until they started updating it every update had issues no data at all no sound on the latest best was 1.3
right now i'm going to try hang v63 cz hopefully it's better i love the harsh kernel thanks the team that build it.
I've been running EB AOSP since the beginning, I love it.. All the ics problem I haven't really noticed.. The rom is super fast and snappy.. I don't take pics with the stock camera so the 5mp doesn't bother me.. I picked up fxcamera when it was 50 cents on the market.. Just no video recording.. But that's with all ics roms.. I've tried the others here on xda and they all seem very laggy to me.. I don't know why.. And too I'm like the stock feel of EB ics with apex launcher I'm happy

i like hfs but my mms or web doesnt work its not the rom fault really its my provider outdated apn settings -_-(simple mobile)its so smooth fell in love with the first use
I've tried them all out myself. I used hfs for the longest because of how stable it was. Had to do the occasional reboot, but nothing major. I started using Genesis with harsh kernel a couple of days ago, and must say I am really impressed. I've had a couple of random reboots that wasn't normal with hfs, but I'm digging everything else. I just wish someone would fix the major camera issue! I'm a little ROM happy as I work for TMobile and am always trying to keep on the up and up. Hell, I'll try anything as long as it doesn't fry my beloved G2x!

I'm totally happy with the Genesis ROM with harsh kernel, i try hellfire but like the way i can set my phone with Genesis with aroma... wait to see wat hell's doing with it's .8 version with aroma
I flashed from stock GB 2.3.4 (after downgrading my BB) yesterday with EB 4.0.4 (5/20 nightly) and have been surprised with it.
I'm having some issues with the sim , can't read my number or VM number and a strange issue with mobile data after a service dead spot (like on the subway) but a reboot corrects that....
All and all a good ics experience

I have running Hellfire Sandwich 1.7 (dirty) since it was released to the public and it is a extremely good rom and its also very smooth and fast... Its even faster when it is combined with the Harsh Kernel P999

I personally love AOKP. It's probably the smoothest and most stock 4.0.4 rom i've ever used. It has big support and a nice website with everything you need. It also has a simple rom control and theme manager in the settings and that's it. No other cluttered crap. I love the continuing updates and support. I haven't experienced one force close or overheat yet with this one. It's a keeper. [:
I don't like ANY of the ICS ROM's that are out currently. Until LG/nVidia releases the drivers for the tegra2 and G2X, I won't be pleased with what's out there.
