It can translate some text but it is not detecting anything (Books, DVDs, Barcodes...) as seen in that promovideo with Belfiore (Video).
Btw, it seems this Mango Beta2 is different from the one MS used at Mix11 etc, because some features are missing.
I think Mango is cool but not THAT suuuper big milestone from a customers point of view. As a developer it's a lot better (APIs).
yeah i managed to get it to translate some stuff which is damn impressive!
But boo for not being able to detect anything else yet!
My guess is someone hasn't flicked the switch yet to turn it all on haha, prob still doing work on it!

I'm not having any issues with it not finding a barcode, or looking up specific things. Seem to be working fine for me.
Whether Bing vision is able to find things or lookup anything may be region specific.

Nope, it can't. The only thing about Bing Vision working flawlessly fine is text scanning.
I can't seem to get mine to work AT ALL either!!
Bing Vision for me picks up QR codes really well, but on the limited barcodes I have tried it on it has not found matches.
Sounds like it's very region specific. In the US, it's working flawlessly for me. It picks up bar codes, QR codes, it can even determine movies and music just by looking at the cover (and it's surprisingly accurate). My phone is only picking up about 20% of the text I throw at it, but it's probably because the Trophy doesn't have the best camera.
I live in indonesia and all these are useless hahaha... even local scout gives me nothing.... oh well, at least I can search my contact by company name now which is very important to me
Yep seems to be region specific. From settings /region+language change "Browser & Search Language" to English(United States) and Bing Vision works. If set to English (United Kindom) it does not.
It is working great for me! (USA) I show it a book and it finds it for me. I don't even have to scan the barcode.
Bing Visio
I cant scan any book in germany all other things works^^
If you have a Senation already....
Just wondering if a Call Recorder app will work with the Sensation..?? I currently use the SPB Recorder on my Winmo TP2 to record and play back calls and it is a lifesaver with client calls (my memory is bad!)
Really would like to know before getting a Sensation as this is a very useful feature to me. Sorry if this has been covered, but would appreciate any specific info for call recording (not off the speaker). Appreciate it if anyone has the knowledge or wants to try it out....
Cheers to all.
I tried out "2-way Call Recorder Free" and it did record both sides of the conversation. Speakerphone was off too, so it's apparently working correctly.
Many thx lezouave
That is really good to know...!
Appreciated

How did you get it to work? Whenever I hit the 'rec' button on the little popup, it turned on the speakerphone to record.

Actually, really want the auto record function. To have to press an additional button seems redundant when/if ALL calls can be recorded...
Cheers

I know.. I still wouldn't mind it if it actually worked though!
Still on this...
Just curious, can this be changed when this bugger gets Rooted or S-Off or whatever the heck is done with the locks come off this thing..?
Still really (really) want this function.
Cheers

Thx for that.
Curious though, does it record well and 'without' the loudspeaker on?
In other words, does it record both sides of the call without an issue - there are other reports saying it needs to turn the loadspeaker on to work.
Please be kind enough to give some more details for all who are interested.
Cheers
both apps do not work for me...
the total recall made my phone go crazy..wouldnt record anything, couldnt hang up, then once I hung up the phone still thought I was on a call and the screen kept going on/off everytime I moved it...not good.
The other one (2 way call recorder) worked, but forced speaker phone. also, not good.
Any other options? I have a feeling Sense and the HTC dialer is part of the issue here..

I think this is what u may want
Androrec call recorder
It records both sides of the conversation, without having to put it on speaker, AND it starts recordings automatically.
All I have to do is periodically go into my SD card and wipe off non-essentials to save space.
And, before I get asked, I have no idea if I have S-off phone or not. I have no idea how to check, but guess have no need to, because my sensation does everything I want it to...
Thank you, I will try it.
AndroRec didn't work for me on the Sensation... could barely hear the other side.
Looks like Sensation is one of those phones that doesn't work well with the recording apps.
Yeah...it works without loudspkr turned on...and for both way...

Thx to all for the info.
Seems we have a mixed bag of success - can't figure why something will work on one and not the other..?
I am yet to dive into a Sensation, but this function is something that is vital to me.

Anyone else care to cast some light..?
I bought Choice Dialer for my Sensation about a year ago and it worked great for what I needed it to do. But it doesn't work with ICS and the developer has stated he has no intentions of ever supporting ICS.
Have others found any voice assistants out there that work with ICS and perform two things:
1) bluetooth activation - tap the BT headset to make it spring into action
2) voice confirmation - if I tell it to "call Dave at home" it will respond with "Call Dave at home?" and wait for my response.
Thanks for any suggestions.
vlingo i believe does them and more mate

+1. No other app on my Sensation on ICS has EVER listened via a bluetooth headset, except for the ripped SVoice. Works great.

You're right, it does seem to listen to voice commands given over bluetooth. That's a good start. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to do hands free confirmation. When I set it to never auto-call it simply displays the person's number expecting me to manually touch it to complete the call. I don't trust the "Call if confident" setting.
Here's what I would like to see happen:
me: (tap the headset)
phone: May I help you?
me: call Bob at work
phone: call Mom at work?
me: no
phone: Try again
me: call Bob at work
phone: call Bob at work?
me: yes
phone: Ok, calling
phone: (calls Bob at work)
See? Totally hands free even when a name was interpretted incorrectly at first. That's what Choice Dialer gave me and so my search continues for a replacement.
I picked up a HTC One XL for my parents to replace an aging 5 year old Nokia candy bar that could autoanswer after a couple of rings while you drive (2009 honda accord factory bluetooth) There seems to be no autoanswer option in the standard factory firmware, HTC Taiwan have confirmed this. Does the Cyanogen 10.1 or 10.2 mod enable this as an option? Or does the One XL remain a psuedo dumb phone? Cheers Monty
There are apps on the Play Store that can accomplish that.

Thanks for the reply, but no they don't, I have installed 10 different ones that promise the world and deliver nothing as far as enabling a function that HTC has left off.
do any of the moderators have any ideas?
Hi all, does anyone, Moderators have any idea if CM10.1 or 10.2 enables\supports the BT handsfree in car "autoanswer" function for the HTC One XL?
This is so disappointing for a smart phone.
Please don't tell me there are apps that do this because I cannot find any after an exhaustive search, HTC confirmed by email its NOT part of the current software on the phone. HELPPPPPPPPPP.
I doubt anyone is using an autoanswer mode. It certainly is a fringe feature few would use.
I just use a bt headset in the car. Easier to push a button in my ear than accidentally auto-answer the phone for relatives I don't want to talk to lol. Can't say I would see a real use for that... just my opinion though.

Hello,
I was looking for the keyboard (which is called HTC IME, I suppose) for non HTC devices. I know someone has ported Sense 3.5's keyboard before so I think it's doable.
I've tried my best in searching the forum and internet but I couldn't find anything. HTC released the app, yes, but only for HTC devices.
Is there anywhere for someone to guide me to install the least sense's keyboard, if it's impossible is there any keyboard that looks alike it?
Thanks.
It's on Google Play

Thank you for your response, although I could install it, I get the error this app is incompatible with you device when I hit the keyboard settings in the settings tab. So I guess this was for only HTC. Thanks though! =)
Up up?
Seems it's not possible. It's only compatible with HTC devices, so you're out of luck.

would it be really hard to port it? I mean it's just a keyboard.
Not sure to be honest. Most HTC software relies on the HTC framework, which is very difficult to port, and just not worth it. Otherwise you'd see Sense ports on a lot of non-HTC devices.
bummer, thanks for trying and responding though. =)
Even though I couldn't find any original sense keyboard, I found one that looks just like it, and maybe, even better. So for anyone who'll come by to this post searching for what I've searched so far, here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/themed-swiftkey-keyboard-v4-t2780250
