QR Droid has more functionality, as it lets you open images from gallery as well.

Google Goggles does this as well. It also has a setting to analyze photos taken with your camera app, without even opening the Goggles app. Its pretty sweet.
burks is right. Goggles has more to it than QR Droid. From what i've seen, the only thing Goggles doesn't have that QR does is the ability to create your own QR codes. Other than that, Goggles has everything else and more.

This extention is amazing!
got a link to the extension?

requires android 2.2... bummer
yeah this is cool.... but from a security standpoint, this is definitely opening up our phones to a greater possibility of worm annihilation... as these clouds develop more and more, there is also going to be a need for more and more security. I wonder if you could create a linux box, and create a cloud on it, and allow it to be the firewall by which all other clouds must pass through?
It does Require 2.2 and it is great!
However for security, it requires a google account on both ends (browser and phone), not sure how 'wormy' it would be.
you know here is a quick tip, you can do this already....most websites have a "share" option, even google maps, what you can do as a workaround is to just share the page to yourself! like if I look something up in google maps on my computer i just send the info to myself via email which i can then open from my phone i do it all the time...its super easy. in google maps there is a little link in the top right of the map that sais "send" just send it to yourself...
theres also an extension that generates a QR code to the link of the page youre on.
its handy

I've of course been seeng the square barcodes (don't know what they are called). I don't see any method in Market to click scan bar code.
How do you use those to get to yoru apps in Market?
Download a barcode reader app......
take a picture using camera get a app called barcode scanner thats how you use
I'd recommend getting the google goggles app. You just take a picture of the barcode and it scans in seconds. You can also use it to scan product barcodes and compare prices, or scan DVD/CD cases.
Ok I am wondering is there an app or android web browser add-on that will let you scan QR codes that are on the site ur on. Because I have noticed sites that many sites I go on to on my phone lately have QR codes linking to something or another.

If the QR code isn't linked or doesn't have a link to the software, it's bad design but nothing you can do on your end besides contact them and tell them to link the QRCode so you can click it.

I think he means that the image of the QR code is also a link.
such as
Code:
<img src="qrcode.jpg"/>
OP is asking if there is a application that will read QR images directly through the browser from the image, not a hyperlink to the page. (I don't know of any apps that do that currently.)
Hi,
You can do this from the Android browser using its "Share" feature with an app named QR Droid. I think it's as close as possible to a browser add-on.
Look for "la.droid.qr" in the Market and install it. After that:
- In the Browser, long-click the image and select "Save image"
- After downloaded, open image from notification bar
- Select Menu > Share > "Decode with QR Droid"
I hope this helps
My Barcode Scanner app has stopped taking me to the Android Market when I scan QR codes for apps. Instead it opens the Android web browser and takes me to the app page on AppBrain.com.
Any ideas on how to get this back to the standard behavior of opening the market and not the browser?
Thanks...
Paul
Scratch that
Never mind, false alarm. The QR codes I was using were specificall designed to take me to the internet and not the market. silly me.
mod, feel free to delete this thread.
I've tried 5 different QR scanner apps with different QR codes.
None of them get a lock and can decode it.
Doesn't it work on the Moto G or am I missing something?
I'm running 4.4.2 stock with Faux 009m kernel. Nothing special apart from that.

1 install and open google goggles from play store
2 click on the white circle
3 Settings
4 Search from camera > Yes
5 decide between only wifi or wifi/mobile data
6 done
7 you wont need to open "goggles" anymore,so you can remove the shortcut(not the app) and use your default camerra app
if you take a photo with google goggles app it will recognise the QR code
but with these settings you can open your motorola camera or maybe(?) any other and it will scan in background
really amazing, it also recognise contacts form, pictures, brands, books, movies and a lot of other things
SET > TEST > FORGET
for me it takes 4 seconds to recognise a QR code, ok since it's a background process and not the google goggles camera
tell me if this works for you, because it's really simple and should see no problem [except no internet connection]
