My Barcode Scanner app has stopped taking me to the Android Market when I scan QR codes for apps. Instead it opens the Android web browser and takes me to the app page on AppBrain.com.
Any ideas on how to get this back to the standard behavior of opening the market and not the browser?
Thanks...
Paul
Scratch that
Never mind, false alarm. The QR codes I was using were specificall designed to take me to the internet and not the market. silly me.

I've of course been seeng the square barcodes (don't know what they are called). I don't see any method in Market to click scan bar code.
How do you use those to get to yoru apps in Market?
Download a barcode reader app......
take a picture using camera get a app called barcode scanner thats how you use
I'd recommend getting the google goggles app. You just take a picture of the barcode and it scans in seconds. You can also use it to scan product barcodes and compare prices, or scan DVD/CD cases.
Ok I am wondering is there an app or android web browser add-on that will let you scan QR codes that are on the site ur on. Because I have noticed sites that many sites I go on to on my phone lately have QR codes linking to something or another.

If the QR code isn't linked or doesn't have a link to the software, it's bad design but nothing you can do on your end besides contact them and tell them to link the QRCode so you can click it.

I think he means that the image of the QR code is also a link.
such as
Code:
<img src="qrcode.jpg"/>
OP is asking if there is a application that will read QR images directly through the browser from the image, not a hyperlink to the page. (I don't know of any apps that do that currently.)
Hi,
You can do this from the Android browser using its "Share" feature with an app named QR Droid. I think it's as close as possible to a browser add-on.
Look for "la.droid.qr" in the Market and install it. After that:
- In the Browser, long-click the image and select "Save image"
- After downloaded, open image from notification bar
- Select Menu > Share > "Decode with QR Droid"
I hope this helps
decode codes from image files data installer barcodes and so on for free so many im about to hit something
I enjoy Google Goggles.
cool thank you ill give it a try
QR Droid has more functionality, as it lets you open images from gallery as well.

Google Goggles does this as well. It also has a setting to analyze photos taken with your camera app, without even opening the Goggles app. Its pretty sweet.
burks is right. Goggles has more to it than QR Droid. From what i've seen, the only thing Goggles doesn't have that QR does is the ability to create your own QR codes. Other than that, Goggles has everything else and more.
So when I click the ads by mistake on some apps, it opens an message to select which browser I will use to open the advertisement link. Then I thought that if there is a browser app that doesn't to anything then if I make that browser app as a default for opening the advertisement, the advertisements wouldn't be any bother to me.
Of course, such browser would be a harm to google advertisements, so i could't find such on the google play store. And so I wondered if there is such browser app developed in xda forums, but could't find such app here with my poor googling skills
Or is it technically impossible to make such browser application? I mean, are there some requirements for an application to be recognized as a browser, so that an browser application that doesn't do anything cannot exist?
If there IS such application, please tell me! :good: thank you
Is it worth developing an android app for my locksmith business?? need suggestions.
You can turn any website into an Android app in seconds using Hermit what is essentially a browser, much like Chrome or Firefox. Its job is to take any website you point it to and turn the website into an app that resides on your home screen. Requires Android 5+.
