Found these batteries on Amazon.
1500mAh - http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0051N1MTY/ref=redir_mdp_mobile
1600mAh - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0052QSTYQ/ref=redir_mdp_mobile
Seem cheap and based on the reviews, they seem to work really well!
See the Sensation 1900mAh - http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/B0053EZJMC/ref=aw_d_cr_electronics
^Check out the reviews there! They seem to be very good for the sensation!
These batteries are dirt cheap, and seem to work well for other devices!
Anyone own one of these?
Can you give your reviews?
Cheers
Sorry links for 1500 and 1600 are mixed up!

I know you'll be wondering where did I dig up this topic
Well... during the last week I've noticed a drop in my battery life with normal daily use (the phone lasts around 14 hours), if I play a bit more with it (check xda, twitter, facebook and send 5-6 emails) my ds barelly makes it for 10 hours...
I've got my DS last May or June and I had it untill a couple of weeks ago running stock (2.3.5 OTA) and I'm on CoreDroid.
What's your review of these batteries?
As I saw they're no longer available and I just ordered a 1800mAh Mugen for 44$.
It's the 1st time that I'll use a 3rd party battery on a smartphone and I'm a bit anxious. Is there anything that I should be worried? Has anyone had experience with mugen batteries? I've read that they are good but I would like to someone's experience from here )
Thanks!

Plus I feel duty-bound to mention that the latest build of CoreDroid is causing some very odd battery drain on some peoples phones. It's not consistent though (some DS users do have it, some don't. Same with DHD and sensastion and mytouch) which is making tracking down the issue take longer than normal.
My use has also gone from 24 hours to 12 because of this.
Please try restoring to an earlier build. You may be one of the people with the drain. Wouldn't want you buying a new battery thinking your current one needs replacing!

Thanks for the info, I did some reading in the G2 forum mostly and I think I'm glad that I got the Mugen battery, can't wait for it to be delivered (around 10-15 days to Greece using free delivery option).

Thanks for the extra hint wnp_79, but I'm not running the latest version, I'm on v2.0. The truth is that there have been days that its stock battery lasts longer, e.g. yesterday I took it of the charger at 8am and at 00:30 I was still at 49% (usually I'm at 7-10% by that time). I did not use my DS that much during the day though.
I have already ordered the mugen 1800mAh since I think that my battery has lost its power
Nevertheless do you still suggest that I try an older version of CoreDroid? Or to upgrade to the latest version?
Thanks in advance for your answer!

Just wrapping up testing on a new release so probably best waiting for that. I think 2.0 was unaffected too. Can't be certain when it started as its been random. A RIL issue we think now. Your battery usage sounds ok.

I think my DS OEM battery is dying or something, i got the device second-hand and the battery would last like 5 hours on normal use, 10 if i only use it minimally, the battery would stay @100% for a while then keeps dropping quickly oAo you can actually look at the marker and see it drop right there ono.
plus, it takes about 8 hours to charge, the charge is pretty good from 0-40% then it only charges like 72mAh from 45-90% then the rest is good, then only lasts for 5.
i looked up the anker's battery and looks good n cheap o.o they don't ship to here so i made my uncle buy it and send it via USP, i'll post a review once it arrives (on endymion 3.4 now ouo)
I look forward to the review!

Well using the Hyperion batteries i'm getting about 1-2 days, they took a while to reach their whole potential (about like 4 weeks?) but they're not bad, and i have 1 for backup so all good.
1 day 5 hours 30 minutes of moderate usage and i just hit the 50% mark. :3
Could you compare that to the OEM batterie?
Because I'm also getting one day and 50% by using my phone "normally". Well depending on the Rom i use..
And there are some risk of boom cheap battaries?

you need to upgrade to CM7. i was getting about a day and a half. right now i'm at almost 7 hrs and its just under a quarter of the way down.
This is on xboarders ota update zip, I was running cm7 prior to this, but I'm trying to sell/trade this to get an iPhone 4 so I flashed this over cm7, my battery life wasn't that much of a difference on cm7, stock, faux, eaglesblood, bionx or using the uc /ov faux kernel, its really android in general they have yet to release a phone that I'm satisfied with as far as battery use, if i still have android when ice cream sandwich /cm8 comes out and I still have this issue I'm going to the iPhone.

Okay. Assumptions just from looking at the graph....
Phone was awake with the screen on for about 2 hours straight? Is that normal usage for you? Screen on for 2 hours may take about half your battery depending on what you're doing while it's on.

And this will probably continue to happen as I've heard the level of synchronization that Android does is a lot higher than that of the iPhone and there is a lot of data transfer in the background associated with any widgets and apps are running in the background among other things. Never used an iPhone so I don't have any personal experience. Just what I've heard.

i dont think youre going to get much more battery life that that on any phone with the screen on 3-4 hours will drain your battery, if thats your regular ussage might be smarter to invest in a netbook or laptop.. even those will only give you a couple hours battery lol i dont think manufacturers make phone with users who keep them on 100% in mind =/
specially since youre on 4g too, 4g drains the battery alot faster than wifi, screen on 2hours + 4g 3-4 hours of life on a charge isnt something to get all emotional about
also investing 20$ on ebay for a 3500mah battery or 2 of them, its what people who want to use their phones like that do
might squeeze more life out of the phone if you tone the brightness down to the lowest you can without straining your vision? D:

Hmm honestly I was actually unhappier with the iphone 4 battery life than I was with any of my androids (with the exception of the Milestone). Wouldn't even last me 3/4 of the day. I finally ended up getting the Mophie Juice Pack and then it became reasonable.
Yeah I was gonna buy the extended battery but, if I'm going to get rid of this phone I'm not gonna waste any more money on it.

I agree with this. I am having great battery life with Faux's kernel.
I came to the droid after having th iPhone since day 1 of release. I traded my iPhone4 for my G2x and could not be happier. While the Iphone has a bit better screen you will end up in the Iron Fist of Apple. Yes, you can jailbreak and all that fun stuff much like you can with the droid OS. But Apple spends a ton of money trying to stay ahead of the dev teams and one day the may get it right.
If you want full control over what YOUR phone can or cannot do I recommend staying away from the Apple products.

If normal usage for you is that the screen is on for 95% of the time, then to make it through a day, you would need a phone that is capable of 15.2 hours of screen awake time. (Assuming 8 hours if sleep)
I don't know of any smartphone that is or ever will be capable of that.
Your usage is not typical consumer use and I can guarantee you that a company will not invest the money to satisfy your bizarre phone using habits.
You really should consider using a desktop PC if you plan on staring at the screen for that many hours.

question.... are you a heavy user? I don't get anywhere NEAR that long with battery. 6 or 7 hours is standard for me with heavy to obsessive use.
Dude, if you play Angry Birds for 3 hours straight it's going to kill your battery. Getting an iPhone isn't going to change that.
Looks like you use your phone as much as me, OP. There are some basic things you can do to improve battery life to some degree, but you wont get much better than that with the stock battery. I wish battery efficiency was advancing as quickly as phone technology. Lol ... If I use my phone primarily as a phone then it lasts a normal day no problem. But I use ALL of my phones features, and I use them constantly, so I opted to get this:
I can go 2 days of my normal heavy usage with absolutely no worries I'm going to run out of battery power. And its a great conversation starter lol.
G2X CM7
DO NOT USE IF YOU HAVE AN EXTENDED BATTERY!!!
Will cause worse battery life than you had as this is for stock battery
I came up with an idea last night.
To try using a batterystats.bin file from someone that gets up to 15 hours of battery life...so me and jcmaddox1 did the best calibration we could and we are going to upload out batterystats file asap
I am going to make a flashable zip as soon as I can but for now, you will have to do it manually.
1.go to Data/system
2.delete your batterystats.bin while your phone is on the charger(VERY IMPORTANT)
3.copy your downloaded battery stats to the same directory(make sure the permissions are set correctly [rw---])
4.reboot!
Also...it is not a risky thing to do but if you are somewhat satisfied with you battery now...it is a good idea to save current battstats to sdcard
Please test and report if it works or not and if you got better battery life with these files
when you report back please include
Results, the rom you are using,a summery of what you did while testing (eg how much time on internet and calls and how many text and so on)
And a screenshot of the battery history would be appreciated
Proof of concept photo...

i honestly don't think this will make much of a difference. i feel like radio/ril combo, as well as apps that have abnormal wakelocks are MUCH bigger determinants of battery life. i've spent the past 2-3 weeks being hyperaware of everything going on with regard to battery life. i've been able to often times flat-line my battery usage curve for hours if i'm not using the phone and often times also in between usage.
but either way, i'm interested to see the results. using my nokia for the time being so i won't be partaking in this but will be watching it closely

The .bin file is a log of YOUR own battery's depletion, and outputs the battery depletion in percentage, and depletion varies greatly depending on type of Rom, kernel etc. Using someone else's stats is going to do any good. In contrast its going to affect the battery health, giving false readings. The best way is to use battery calibration app, and calibrate after each Rom flash. Once again the .bin file will not boost your battery, and will give false readings if inserted from another rom .
Just flash a new rom and wipe the stats. That's it.

I meant by charging and discharging as it you won't have to calibrate it, these batter stats were from heavy use so it won't give false readings unless your phones battery its self is messed up
--Sent from my Inspire 4G being fat with its Ice Cream Sandwich --
But the point remains, the stats are from another phone, with a different rom and kernel, inserted into your phone which has a different battery level also, trust me, it's a theory that will not work.
Just wipe stats at 100% after a new rom flash. That's all there is to it.
Hi everybody
I've flashed the latest version of several 421 ROM for our NEXUS S (mine is 9020T)
Now I'm using the one of slukk
The strange (worse) thing is that with all the ROM used the battery life is very very short.
I usually use the kernel bundled with the rom too, but I've also flashed the latest marmite (thank You Bedalus).
But the result is always the same..
Now my battery die after one day ov few use, while ith 412 rom it die after one day and half..
why
Give it time. 4.1 started with threads just like this. Keep in mind that 4.2 is a port for all the ns devices, it will take some time to get everything straightened out and hopefully optimized

Depending on what you're looking for, battery is OK to meh. I get about 4 hrs of screen on time out of a charge, but standby is still very good even with streaming music. What kind of battery life are you looking to get?
4.2.1

You are lucky your's lasts one day. Mine will last anywhere from 6 hours to 13 hours. Most of my battery seems to get eaten by "Mediaserver". I listen to satellite radio on the way into work. I listen to streaming Google Music on the way home. I don't use it all that much while at work. It's really frustrating.
I don't normally post stuff like this but lately I've been really concerned about my dramatic change in battery life. I used to be able to go through an entire work day with about 70% left to spare after my 8 hours, normally I would hit the hay with about 50%-60% left. As I type this in currently at 25%
I have barely used this phone at all today. Most of my usage came from Google Services and Android System.
Those are both passive.
In using Revelation 1.0.3, one of my favorite ROMs. I used to use Virtuous Inquisition, but it stopped updating.
Should I give a new ROM a try? I used to use Viper S 5.0.0, and had similar results.
Is my Anker battery dying out? Do I need a new one? I only bought this one 5 months ago.

Are you sure it's a genuine Anker battery and not a fake ebay rip-off. That's all I can think off.
Nope. It's name brand.
I have an 18 month warranty, maybe I should just use that?

i will recommend to use vipers sense5 after a full wipe before claiming warranty
I used ViperS 5.0.0 before. I loved most of it, but not to huge on Sense 5. Doesn't feel right to me.
Anyway, for a while on that rom, things were okay, but they only got worse. It seems that my battery lasts longer on Revelation 1.0.3.
I'm even considering using ARHD 7.3 or Virtuous Inquisition. Going back to basics might solve my issues.
So I have the G2 and I have a buddy of mine offering to trade it for a 32GB N5. While I know that its basically the same phone I am more encouraged to simply because I feel that the N5 is more future proof.
Am I wrong for this ? Or should I keep it
Trade trade trade! Definitely the nexus will always have Dev support.

Stick with the G2 im sure itll stay up to date with custom roms, also it has a more vibrant display, better camera, and better battery so i personally dont see why you would trade, flash an aosp rom and youll have close to a nexus experience

Well yes and no...I was hoping for someone that came from a G2 to give me their true scope on it.

Then I'd stay with the g2. People will tell you the nexus 5 battery is fine and will last the full day. But in my experience, it is like 4-5 hours then you have to carry a charger to top up the battery. I'm using my old blackberry for work which is more reliable in my opinion. Yes, the nexus 5 is snappy, but lacks a decent battery. It's like 1/3rd less battery than the g2 last I checked. Good luck

Haha, fair enough. It was my backhanded way of saying I'd take the Nexus. It is true though, the battery is fine but not outstanding. I don't go anywhere without a usb cable.

I feel like the nexus 5 is a cheap variation of the g2...god damn that battery. …

If you use any phone as a computer you will be disappointed with the battery life. In my experience the n5 battery is just about as good as the s4.

Check out this thread, a lot of Nexus users are reporting good battery life. So good or even great battery life on this phone is possible,if you use battery friendly rom, kernel, know its setups, and also Greenify can save a lot of battery also.

If you don't mind about smaller screen,go for it!
The G2 may have slightly better battery life. Slightly.
Just gotta know how to setup for battery life.
Here's my N5 life. Note the averages at the bottom. An average since February 25th....not just a few days.

But still. Those knocking the battery on the N5 haven't set it up to get the most out of it.

Personally I chose the N5 over the G2, and do not regret it at all. I know the battery is smaller and the G2 supposedly takes better pics, but in decent lighting the N5 can take pics just as well. It was the design factor and overall construction that made me choose the N5. Seriously, the LG and Samsung phones look soooooo generic in my opinion. I totally value battery life, external memory and great displays, but I would still choose the N5 purely because of design (even though the difference is minimal). That train of thought can be compared to why people still love and use the iphone 5, even with the smaller screen, the IOS is just really user intuitive and smooth, and even though the Android has caught up significantly, I am still waiting for the large screen iphone 6 to come out, but until then my N5 will be my main and only phone!

Oh yeah and to all those saying they have bad battery life, they must be doing a hell of a lot and all the time too, because I get BETTER battery life on my N5 than on my 3000mah Sony Xperia Z1 (but then the Z1 has had bad reviews in terms of battery life).
When I go to sleep on a full charge and wake up the next morning, I usually lose about 3%, and with regular use at work, I can go through the whole day (including listening to music to/and from work, around 1.5 hours total). When I get back home and check my battery, I still have between 30~50% left (depending on how heavy I used it)
I am running a custom rom with stock kernel, with Novalauncher, and 3 pages all with widgets, on FULL screen brightness all day long. I play Candycrush type games, browse the web, check facebook, send text messages, and just generally use it quite a lot.
Just FYI
Get the N5. I went from an S3 to the N5 16gb and love it.

Hey, I used to use a stock ROM, with only root. But right now I'm trying out the Xenon HD and franco kernel, I'll try to see if I can feel any difference in the battery dept. and update this thread after a couple of days.
Why don't you swap your phone for lets say a week and if you can't get along with the battery you swap back?
