I think I've had it. My first sense experience was on an HD2. Not all that great. Coming from a nexus s, then iPhone 4, I love this phone. I love everything about it. After using sense I don't think ill ever use Android again without it. It just feels as if something is missing. With that said this is what made me decide not to get an Atrix. However after the past few days using the inspire, countless task managers tweaking settings, turning off background data, the longest battery lift I got was 11 hours and I barley used the thing! Please someone point me in the actual directon of an extended battery that actually works or I think I might have to sell this thing.

Stop using a task manager, they just make battery life worse. Turn off auto-brightness and set it to around 35-40%. Go into settings>Accounts and Sync and uncheck what you don't need like Stocks, News, etc. Turn off mobile data, wifi and gps unless you need it. Also don't fill up 7 homescreens with useless widgets. Try to keep it to about 3 screens with a small number of widgets.
HTC Sync was my big battery hog. Removed the account, and it started sipping the battery.

I've done all these things guys. I'm just frustrated. The phone should last a day. When the thing is under 10% I look at battery use and display is always at the top but its always about an hour. Your really telling me I can only use my phone for an hour a day? I just can't believe HTC would drop the ball on this one. I'm going to look on eBay for a portable usb battery charger. Their about 10$ and it did the job with my iPhone 4

I would heavily suggest running CM7. It seems even better on battery than the way I had Sense configured.
BTW, You can't just disable HTC Sync account, removing it is what fixed my battery drain. Android System(which includes HTC Sync) was using at least a third of my battery life.
If I root and run CM won't I loose all the HTC sense and all those goodies?

Yes, however the speed and battery life is amazing. I will not be going back to Froyo, that is for damn sure. There isn't anything Sense really does that I can't get in the market or make it do myself.
well the battery life of most smartphones arent that good

+1 After removing the HTC Sync account from my phone, after being off the charger for about 11 hours, I was only at 76%. That's with Twitter refreshes every 30 minutes.
You could try the Revolution Rom. You keep Sense, but apparently there are a lot of battery tweaks.
I have owned almost every highend HTC phone and the battery is never the strong point. I guess I have become use to it over the last couple of yrs. I usually have the charge it throughout the day to keep things rolling.
Is it the HTC Sync account or the HTC Sense account that is reccomrnded to be disabled?

Sense and Sync are both under the HTC account. I just removed the entire account. Even with it disabled it seemed like it was still trying to connect, so I removed it just to be safe.
does the lag fix method for A9191 works for the Inspire 4G?
i heard this help improve the battery life for A9191
http://blog.developers.ie/bleo/archive/2011/02/12/htc-desire-hd---lag-fix.aspx
My new Inspire is getting better battery life than my old Aria did (only slightly; my Inspire is down to 60% by noon whereas the Aria would be under 50% both with moderate to heavy usage).
read this thread for help with your battery life.
rooting and installing custom roms is a sure fire way to increase your battery life.
It seems I read that the Inspire has a 1200 mah battery, is this correct? If so, then I am really really confused, as my aria has the same battery, but the screen is waaaaaay smaller. Granted, I can go a full day easily with a lot of usage on my aria, but I can't imagine trying to squeeze more than a few hours out of the aria battery in hungrier hardware. Someone pls tell me if I am mistaken, I was going to get this phone next month, but if the battery is the same as the Aria I think I will just have to wait on something else.

1230mAh, to be precise. The reason it is at least equivalent or better is more advanced, more efficient hardware such as processor and other chipsets. IT makes a drastic difference.
which ROM do you think is best for htc sensation?
I DIDNT CRACK/FLASH MY PHONE SO PLEASE POST ANY LINK TO PROCEED
i want these apps to work without force closing:
camera like HTC AMAZE
phone calls
HTC SENSE 3.5 (i dont want it like SENSE 3.0, it will restarts every time i uninstall any app)
GTALK WITH VIDEO CALLS
WITH MORE BATTERY LIFE
Bluetooth with audio output
For what you're after I'd have a look at the InsertCoin ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198684
you could also try the RCmix

What does crack/flash mean. It's S-OFF'ed right?
I would recommend Bulletproof. ARHD eats batteries, and when I was on InsertCoin it was slow and camera FC'ed.
Bulletproof if you want a Sense experience. That ROM is very solid and under appreciated. I like to bounce between Bulletproof and CyanogenMod.
Sent from my CyanogenModded HTC Sensation 4g.
I have to say its Bulletproof for me at the minute, battery life is brilliant compared to any of the others I have tried.
Ok so, I hope this doesn't in terms become a thread jack but, I had recently installed Andorid Revolution HD by Mike and it had it's ups and downs for me, but I wanted something else. My friend had recommended that I try out cyanogenmod, which I did, just flashed it last night. Now the major difference I've noticed is, no HTC sense and very empty, which I liked because it gave me a sense of room to customize my phone more.
The only problem I'm having is, when I had the Revolution installed my battery was much more signficantly better than it is right now. I've done battery calibration and I've had it drop down to at least 25% and then I went to full charge last night. Today I used the phone to drop it down to 38% and then I went to full charge and this is all without any phone calls. Just text messages and Facebook, anyone know what I can do to improve battery life?

FC = force close. An unexpected/abnormal termination of the application.

Underclock your cpu there is no need for 1.5 really
Use juice defender to manage your connections, (turns them off and on when screen off and on)
Try different kernels
Keep screen brightness down
I find all roms don't report battery stats totally accurate, more so in cm7 builds,
Bare in mind sense 3.5 is in beta
And...
CM7 is still in alpha
If you want perfect builds you'll be waiting a little while
I find insertcoin the one with least errors
But I've not tried bulletproof I will do tho tonight

You just flashed it, expect your battery to be really bad for the first four cycles or so. Fully charge and discharge at least three times. Once it stabilizes, your best bet is to exercise battery conservation practices, like Juice Defender mentioned earlier.

I've run ARHD for several version, I switched to InsertCoin and really like it. Runs a little hot on my phone with bricked kernel. Truthfully I'm waiting for an official release of cyanogen mod. Any ideas when that will be?
Oh alright, I'll give Juice Defender and Bulletproof a try as well. Yeah I do understand that CM7 is still in the alpha stage.
In terms of "best roms for sensation," what makes CM7 so much more popular? Or all the available roms out there like InsertCoin, Revolution, Bulletproof are just as popular but it depends on the user preference?

So guys, are you hapy with your HTC Sensation? After seeing the performance, lag and battery issues, and also phone heat ups, are you happy with the phone?
Please feel free to comment!
Thanks
No. Look at the problems it got. The power button issue, which HTC KNOWS, but simply haven't fixed yet. And then there is the screen "failure", dust can come under it, and spoil the joy of having the phone. And there is also the home screen issue, when it sometimes doesn't work. Not only that, but the lack of support been given is just incredible. I have reported the issue in online chat with an HTC employee. And she simply said that I could reset the phone, delete all third-party apps. I mean WTF? If you know the problem, at least inform the workers, so they know such things. But apparently, HTC is shooting devices out! HTC sensation, then it exploded! XE,XL Rhyme, explorer, rezound. And the worst part is! They haven't fixed the audio issue, which comes when you record a video. Even in the new rezound. I am gonna trade it for a S2, if I can. Properly not. But I will give it a try.

The only thing that upset me was the squeky battery door besides that what a classic phone.....I jumped to the amaze for build quality purposes and I have zero regrets. Go HTC
My phone does great. No dust and certainly no issue. Battery life is great after I got 1.5 bricked kernel.

I loose phone signal sometimes here at home
Wifi death grip
I 'currently' don't have any dust issues and I'm pleased about that, although I keep checking.
Im very happy with my sensation, havent had any problems like dust or something else...
my battery life is 2 days with moderate use. But my phone signal isnt so brilliant

WOW, what are you running ? (ROM, Kernel, UC/UC/OC, ....)
I am extremely happy with it now thanx to the devs on this forum to make my life easier lol. Only thing that sucks is the battery, but i just purchased anker 1900 battery so it gave my phone extra life and using rom ARHD with Bricked Kernel 1.5r beta 2. Now for the terrible part the fron facing camera that sucks mad ass, but i dont use it anyways cause i have an itouch4g
I'm using Sensation around 3 months, I switched from the old Nokia 3510i and I don't have any single problem with it. Only issue was poor battery life.
But now Bricked 1.5 kernel with latest MIUI rom extended my battery lifetime significantly.

All in all, Very Happy with the Phone!!!

well ... it depends on what did you bought it for i guess. Iam well satisfied as for functionality but there are few but's.
1. The image and video quality taken with the camera is very poor (my HD Mini did better)
2. Battery life is horrible on 4G networks
3. Sense UI keeps restarting often, to prevent it you have to manually clear Sense cache
4. Network and wifi signal keeps goin up and down like on a rolercoaster
5. The HTC audio enhancement (HTC SRS) in HD movies is awful
thats the only negative things i found, all in all, its not that bad, could be worse.
I use good phones (MDA compact III-> Nokia E90-> Xperia X1-> Sensation), but this one... dream! Battery-nightmare.
Cheers
My sensation is running great.
I haven't had a single problem. Haven't had any dust, or power button issues etc.
I'm running Scott and Jon's latest MIUI with show-P's latest AOSP kernel. Running like a dream. Excellent battery life. I also got an anker battery.
I was a bit hesitant before I got this phone TBH, because of the issues I heard people talking about. But I haven't experienced any of them.
I would definitely recommend this phone to my friends.

can anybody recommend any roms or mods that will help my sensation gain excellent battery life? ive tried multiple roms on gb and ics and still have had no luck. more recently ive tried ordroid, android revolution, and aokp build 37. with multiple kernels and the xxxpachaxxx-take-batterylife mod and still no luck. i can average about 9-10 hours with moderate usage but i really am looking for about a full 24 hours. is this even possible? ive had multiple phones in the past and there were a few i was able to gain excellent battery life on. for example mytouch4g on a few miui and cm7 roms could get me almost 36 or more hours, now i did keep data off when i wasnt using it, but im doing the same for my sensation and still no luck. is there anyone out there who has any recommendations or answers for me. i realize that not every chip is created equal but this is my second sensation, did i just answer my own question??? thanks in advance
hi,
Did you try ORDroid rom? I think is the best rom in terms of battery life/performance.....
I'm sorry if this an offence to anybody but with my experience it is not. Try hypernonsense for battery.
Also I've seen a mod in the dev section somewhere which brings about good battery but a large sacrifice is required, if you chose the power saving option that is. It only ever has one core running I believe at 1.5ghz ( the processors' true power ).

Check out one of my last posts.there's a link to a very useful battery guide. It helped restore my battery "life".
Also, newer phones use more power. Extended batts. Help this but eventually it will take new tech.nuclear powered phones would last a while.
I'm using a 1900mAH anker battery combined with virtuous inquisition 4.02 gives 24 hours easily. In fact my record was still on 62% after 24 hours
No other ROM comes close. You have to upgrade the battery though as well, which is dirt cheap for the anker.
Definitely up grade your battery ! I use Anker. It's much better than stock! When you switch from rom to rom, go into recovery with 100% full battery and plugged into charger, wipe battery stats from recovery then unplug charger. This will help with the battery life. Hope this helps you. As for Roms I'm currently using ordroid but the best battery life I ever got was from virtuous inquisition, likely because its a SENCELESS rom, I missed sence so I changed over to Ordroid. I wanted to give sence 4 a try. It's a give and take depending on what you want. If you don't care for sence and only care for battery life V.I. is the way to go. Hope I helped you

I have to agree that with OrDroid my battery got drained a lot faster so I switched back to arhd Rom.
I have been on VI as well and it looks slick, mega fast and the best battery life of them all only I found a few bugs and switched back to arhd.
Still I'm used to sense now and ARHD is just the nicest Rom out there for me atm but that's just my opinion

I am running Elegancia ICS Sense 3.6 TMOUS_Edition_3.0.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663665) using the Bricked v1.1 kernel and am getting about 26 hours with light use and 18 hours with moderate use. In this day and age of power-hungry smartphones, I find this to be quite good!
U may use Faux's kernel on IntelligentDemond gavenor, it has good performence and long battery life.
UPDATE: My phone is the TMO Sensation 4G, unlocked, rooted, S-OFF using Juoponutbear wire trick, Android Revolution 7.3 ROM, 4EXT Recovery.
I have been using the Android Revolution 7.3 ROM since it came out but I see a lot of devs have pushed the Sensation even further since then. Also, it's time to completely reset the phone again (too much stuff installed and uninstalled) so I figured WTH, I'll check out ROMs again too.
So here's what I'd like:
1. Good working camera. I do vids and lots of high rez shots.
2. Voice dialing via bluetooth. Did anyone ever solve this without a third party app? It got introduced when TMO did their ICS "upgrade" which, IMHO, was worse than what they had.
3. Good battery life.
4. HTC Sense. I use it for HTC Sync only. It does the job even if it's buggy. Show me a good alternative for syncing my Outlook 2003 contacts and calendar and I'd dump Sense & Sync in a heartbeat.
5. Good audio.
6. Minimal bloatware. I install enough crap on my own.
7. I don't need a lot of fancy customizations and it would be nice if the phone was a tad faster.
8. There are lots of GAPPS I never use but I do use Maps, Play, I never use G Music, G Video, G+, etc. My email of choice is K9.
9. I'm OK changing 4EXT to something else if it's not a total ***** to do.
OK hope that's specific and friendly enough! What say you oh wise XDA peoples?
Oh and should Heartbleed be a consideration? Like I think the latest Viper ROM uses a vulnerable version. How does that affect things?

Yes I have an Anker battery. If I don't make any calls and just leave the phone alone (no screen), I can go for well over 2 days even with the phone grabbing email every 15 minutes. But if I start doing anything that needs the screen, probably a max of 24 hour. If it accesses the GPS then the battery drains quickly. I suspect if I turned off the K9 email updates, battery life would be much better.
May I just say that I'm getting terrific battery life with ARHD. It's been about a day and a half, and I haven't charged this thing. I've kept the screen dimmed, and the WiFi on. I'm at 33% battery. Glad I switched. Also, I have been reading that the InsertCoin Rom is a good ROM to check out if u like customization.
