[Q] Rooting a pantech breakout - General Questions and Answers

I need a nuub way to root a pantech breakout running 2.3.3 gingerbread.

not rootable
sorry to inform you but the breakout is 100% unrootable

It's not impossible.... it's just no one has worked on it yet. There is some promising results with the zergroot/DoomLord root kit. No one has officially posted they've broken their Pantech Breakout with it yet.
Anyone willing to try it and post back???

I'm now running a pantech breakout rooted. It's beautiful having all the clutter and crap apps gone ^.^

What apps did you remove? Did you use Titanium or Root Explorer? I used root explorer and removed the obvious ones, but i wanted to make sure i didn't miss anything.

doesnt work anymore
stops with this error:
[-] Hellions with BLUE flames !
(and then after that, will not let the device connect anymore

Stopped working after the update. Checkout the Pantech Forum on Android Forums for a different root method. There is also a rooted ROM available there too

Thats a shame as you can get them for fairly cheap on craigslist

If anyone is trying still...
I just used the all in one root from android forums and it seems to not work at first. Even with fastboot drivers installed it kept hanging in fastboot for me. You have to use "fastboot continue" then it boots again normal...
Even at that unless you know to run a check root app you may think its pointless but its rooted if the script completed and tells you success.

Device not found problem
I'm trying to root my Pantech Breakout, and I'm running into a problem where the rooting program can't find my device. For example, in SuperOneClick, it will kill the ADB server, try and start it again, and give the message "daemon not running, starting it now on port 5...". It says "daemon started successfully", but that's as far as it gets. I've tried reinstalling drivers and restarting, with no success.

Pantech Breakout is root able using King Root simply download the one for your computer and then plug in your phone the software will do the rest. The application that goes on your phone will not root your device. Does anyone know how to add Verizon backup assistant back onto the phone. I was deleting all the original bloatware from Verizon but after i did a factory reset it said i needed backup assistant. Help please anyone??????? Any questions about King Root just ask.

I've had sone sucess with badiu root. However after I root I can't get supersu to allow root access to apps. And when I reboot my phone into recovery mode and scroll down to where it says rooted, it says it has been rooted but I still can't get any access to delete all the bloatware.... HELP

sorry to inform you but the breakout is 100% rootable with Baidu Easy Root from 1mobile market. Not the crap new version from the Baidu webpage. Rooted my Breakout in less than 5minutes where everythingvincluding kingroot & towelroot failed miserabley. U obviously didn't check your facts because your posting fiction dude. That's because the breakout firmware is too old and not comparable with supersu.....u have to use the older superuser instead. Install and run the superuser update fixer along with it & boom-------Moneyshot!!! Lol once again

Added note #2:
To install Recovery with no hassle, download either the twrp or cwm version & flash with the Nexus Root Toolkit. Faster and less hassle with more working options than the suggested "one click root & Recovery tool for pantech breakout" that was apparently designed for the device. The pantech tool kit is dodgey, unreliable, moody and finicky in comparison. Nexus toolkit is no questions asked install

Rooting problem - Solved!

I used the Moboboro and SuperOneClick method. Everything went smoothly, SOC went through its routine and told me my device was now rooted. The superuser app appeared in my drawer and updated itself. I figured everything was good. Wrong. Rootchecker and busybox are both telling me the device (UG802) is not actually rooted. Any ideas what I can do?
Thanks
Unfortunately I have exactly the same problem when I attempt to root ug 802. Will appreciate any help!
I'm going thru the same thing. I guess there is a Chinese tool that works but I'm not up for trying.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2139454
I read the ug802 comes prerooted ?? I have been able to load apks thru astro without issue but also got non rooted message using busybox.
Root doesn't appear to matter as there isn't a ROM based off the JB firmware it comes with AFAIK

Depends on which UG802 version you have. On that forum there's a warning that the ROM is not for use on the latest version of the UG802, it kills the wi-fi.
Getting my ug802 into recovery is about impossible. Mine has no reset button and I'm not up for opening the case. Somebody has to have a way to do this easy.

FWIW, opening the case is a piece of cake. It's just held on with tabs. Slide a flat head screwdriver above the HDMI port and gently work it back and forth. It will crack open and then you can just work your way around. Why do you need to open the case?
According to what I've read you can run a jumper wire across to pin terminals and force the ug802 into recovery mode. This seems to be what those that have tried and failed to root have resorted to to get their device out of boot loop.
I've modded a few androids but this one is tough

It is for the MK808, but it worked for me. You need an account to see the download link for the file, but you can just google the file name and find the download link that way.
Thanks for the update... I'm going to give this a shot tonite. I'm thinking I don't have the right drivers or something

I'd like to add that I got stuck until I realized that after each reboot I had to back into settings and under ubs click connect to PC. Once I did that it rooted right away. Now we just need some new ROMs to try!!
Hi, im using this rom and just need to install. Already came with SU. No need to root
Since I use that one I never root again
Install an uninstaller root apk, and desinstall all apk you dont need it

How To Root Alcatel One Touch Evolve 5020T

Couldn't find any threads of a successful root method for this device so I figured I'd try a few and found one that works flawlessly.
Instructions:
1. Search Google for "[APP][ROOT] Android 4.1.2 Rooting Universal Method" and click on the first result (this is my first thread so I can't post links, sorry for the inconvenience).
Follow this rooting method and verify root access with Root Checker once finished.
2. Next, go to the PlayStore and download the SuperUser and Titanium Backup apps.
3. Open the new SuperUser app (you'll notice that the installed SuperUser app isn't in English). Click "Allow" on the pop-up, then proceed to update the binary (this switches the link from the Asian SuperUser app to The English one)
4. Then, go into Titanium Backup and delete the previously installed SuperUser app (1.-something, it's picture of a shield).
5. Now you have a rooted Alcatel One Touch Evolve 5020T. Enjoy!!!

I'm only familiar with the ROMs and CWM for the Sidekick 4G (because it was running Froyo). I'm keeping the stock ROM on the Alcatel for now. Jelly Bean is such a big improvement from Froyo and Gingerbread, I have no issues with it so far. As far as compatibility I'd wait a bit for someone to develop a working ROM for this phone since the soft keys and the Android menus were customized a bit by Alcatel, but if you feel like being a pioneer, go ahead. :good:

Can I suggest people just use the Kingo app to root? It appears to be the exact same program, but in English and doesn't put a Chinese SU app on your phone. I noticed slowdowns and odd behavior when using the method in the OP but have not noticed the same when using Kingo. I would link to a thread, but I don't want to hijack this one.

Go to Alcatels website and download one touch upgrade software. Just Google it.
I did the same thing and thought i borked my phone. Just follow the instructions to "upgrade" the software
and it will reflash the phones firmware.
I you can get a boot splash your phone can be brought back.

I tried Kango initially, as it has worked on other Alcatels for me. But not on the 5020T, at least for me. The Asian root worked fine, and I thought it to be somewhat interesting.

and you need that setting as well for pdanet to download drivers for your phone.
also, make sure your device is on charge only mode when connected to pc.

I tried rooting from a win 7 virtual machine running inside solydk. It wouldn't work. I reloaded my laptop because I need to maintain a copy of windows to adjust the emc on one of my Harleys. So 100GB partition for windows and the remainder of the TB for linux. Ran all updates on the laptop and installed busybox on the the tablet. installed kingo and rooted the pro 10. Not alot you can do once rooted except clean up some bloat and over clock the cpu a bit. Nothing for custom roms out there. I'm trying to find away to flash linux on it and do away with droid.
Did anyone try to put a custom recovery on it? We need to back up the system, root apps can render system unbootable not even after a reset unless u have a backup
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
No custom recovery here. Mine got into a little random locking up. I had to use the reset button to shut it down. So I factory reset it and am head to walmart to exchange it for another guinea pig to play with. I hope the one they set aside has the USB dock and keyboard and not the bluetooth one.
Lol, but that's what i was afraid of, i already returned my 1st because of the crappy usb placement on the dock, it broke or I broke it I don't know

My mom just got this tablet and its sweet but a lil too vanilla. Has anyone managed to shag an sbf or fxz? We need to worry about flashing stock before we get into root and custom recoveries IMO. I haven't looked too deep into anything but does rca even allow for unlocking bootloaders? Or do we need to look into SS or bootstrap? I'll be willing to help with development but personally I think a recovery to stock is the most important first step..
On a side note, I'm used to locked bootloader devices so I'm unfamiliar with Odin and unlocking things I always use safestrap or bootstrap.
Glad to know that there's at least a root method for this tablet because it does after all have nice specs.

I actually like it better than the one I bought my wife with the bluetooth keyboard. I picked up the new one yesterday and it is rooted. I took all the crap off it I didn't want. Installed some of the stuff I wanted for now. Still working on getting linux installed on it. I have the feeling this will be a rooted what it is, and I will have to buy something different down the road to be able to actually do what I want with it. This will work for now for the basics.

Galaxy 4 7.0 SM-T230NU Root (vRoot)

After spending 2 days to figure out how I can get root on my newly purchased Galaxy Tab 4 7.0,
I finally got it to work through vRoot.
Here's a detailed instruction from ShinySide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/general/root-galaxy-tab-4-7-t230-t2835264
Now, where I had the problem wasn't what I did. Rather, it was the auto update that Samsung rolled out in August.
I tried doing through vRoot like, 50 times, and got the same result over and over.
Then I read ShinySide's post saying the August update interferes with vRoot so I had to flash my tablet with older firmware.
Lucky for me, ShinySide also has this available on this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2778374
I did it with NE2, and BOOM. VRoot rooted my phone like a charm.
So, those of you who are having trouble with vRoot (probably seeing X mark instead of a check mark at the end)
check your firmware under About Phone.
If it says August, then you have to flash the device back to the older firmware.
That little detail made me go crazy for the past 2 days, so I thought I'd share that.
So, just remember two things:
1) Check your firmware!
2) DISCONNECT Internet as soon as you install vRoot and run it while you are NOT connected to avoid auto update.
And make sure to THANK ShinySide 'cause he made this possible!
Thank you for posting. I've been looking for root options for my T230NU and was skeptical about VRoot. I don't trust random apps that aren't even in English, you know?
Your post looks good so I may attempt to root as well. Please update if it turns out that VRoot is a bs virus.

I tried it on a few devices. What it does is install a bunch of root apps/exploits and keeps trying till it finds one. I think some installs a chinese app store or somesort Which is kinda weird.

I'm fairly new to rooting and I haven't tried this.

HELP!
I think I may have bricked my SM-T230NU
I googled how to root SM-T30NU and didn't realize google was showing me instructions for SM-T530NU when I actually was trying to root SM-T230NU
I followed this guide
(can't share links but if you google root SM-T30NU you should find it)
I get message I am in Odin Mode and my current Binary is custom system status official
It says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again"
I tried both versions of Kies I found and it doesn't show up in recovery mode.
I am a total noob, please help if possible.
Have you gotten it fixed yet? If not go to the opening post and find the link to the NE2 firmware. Follow instructions there to flash to NE2. You should be fine.

[Q] Wanting to root LG K3

I just went from an older than dirt LG optimus slider (android 2.3.5...hence older than dirt!...But I still miss the slide out keyboard! ) to an LG K3, running Android 6.0.1. I'd like to root it so I can remove some of the bloatware, and to get Link2SD running so I can move stuff to the SD card. However, Kingroot shows "No exploit available." and there isn't a TWRP recovery for it yet either. Anyone got any ideas as to how to root this thing? I've tried kingroot, oneclickroot, and even poot (which made me giggle like a 5 year old, once I found a clean version anyway.) to no avail.
Still searching for some hope.. so far very very little.. ran all the app root which all fail dramatically.
I have went on offensive trying to find a version of twrp that is also a negative.. any seniors want to give us some light?
Well, since there are at least three threads concerning this phone, maybe someone will give us a hand in one of them! I actually have a spare one with a shattered but still functional (due to the skinomi holding it together!) screen that I'd be willing to let someone use for research purposes.
I am in the same boat about this phone. I currently have about 8 of them for Perk and Check points and I would love to be able to root for them. I can make a small donation ($50) to whoever can get a root developed to this device so I can do my own will with it. Very serious about my offer =) Subscribed!
I can offer a small donation as well ($25). I have the Virgin Mobile version of the K3, if that makes a difference. I'm not too tech-oriented, so the easier the root method is to follow, the better

I've managed a temporary root using a rather unorthodox method of two different one-click root utilities. Currently working on getting the SuperSU binaries to stick to achieve a permanent root. I'll keep you all updated.....

I will definitely do that. Just today I finally achieved full root on my LG Tribute 2. The LG K3 has proven to be tough. I have full root via iRoot, but have yet to replace the iRoot binaries with SuperSU binaries.

So if you simply want root, I can instruct you on that. My definition of a "true" full root, however, is when @Chainfire's SuperSU binaries are injected.

I'll get some links and files together and post some instructions by this evening. This method will at least get you super user access to /system

I'm not sure if I need the SuperSU binaries or not. I'm looking to both remove manufacturer-installed bloatware and to install link2sd so that I can use the SD card. I've read a little bit about custom recoveries and I don't think I want to go down that road.
The two previous phones that I had - the LG Tribute and the LG Optimus - were fine once I rooted them and removed stuff and then installed link2sd. I liked the fact that I had more control over the phone, but I didn't feel the need to install any custom recovery. I remember the root process for the other two phones did include installing SuperSu, but I don't know if that is required for what I want to do.
Thanks!
Sure. The root that I've achieved will give you full root privilege over the /system partition. You can debloat, deodex, edit build.prop, install BusyBox, etc etc. As we speak I'm putting together a brief tutorial on rooting the LG K3, with links to needed files.
Guide - Rooting the LG K3
Disclaimer: As with any rooting procedure, you are doing this at your own risk. I am not responsible for bricked or inoperable devices. However, I will provide support in the event of such a travesty.
1. On your Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 PC or laptop, download and install the LG United Driver v4.1.1 from this link.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByS9qDHT607jTVFBbVEwUi1vVjg/view?usp=drivesdk
2. On your LG K3, go to SETTINGS, ABOUT PHONE, and find BUILD NUMBER. Tap approximately 8 times until DEVELOPER OPTIONS is enabled.
3. Enable USB DEBUGGING and OEM UNLOCKING.
4. On your PC or laptop, download and install the latest iRoot version for Windows from this link:
http://www.iroot.com
5. Connect your LG K3 to your PC or laptop using a proper micro USB syncing cable.
6. Launch iRoot on your PC or laptop and ensure your phone is connected as a media device.
7. Follow any on-screen prompts that may appear on your device's screen during the process.
8. Your device may reboot one or more times during the process. This is normal.
9. Upon completion, iRoot should indicate that your device is rooted and a super user app will be installed on your device. If the procedure fails, simply try again. It will achieve root.

MotoJunkie, I installed the LG United drivers to my PC using the link you provided. I then downloaded iRoot and when I tried to install it I received this message:
"The program can't start because libaapt.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem."
It went on to list these other dll's as missing: Common.dll, PhoneManageru.dll, and DuiLib_u.dll.
A Google search turned up the possibility of a virus or corruption as the culprit, among other things, so I'm running some scans now. Any thoughts?

Go to the iRoot official website and download the most recent version of iRoot. Install it from your download. It is very possible that the file I provided is devoid of the required .dll files for installation. I will correct that in my post. Thank you for pointing it out.
SO far, I have tried this on one of the 8 phones I have. I have restarted, rebooted, basically followed the steps in order. Downloaded new direct from the iroot - i have had 8 attempts, nothing, all i Get is root failed. Does it matter if it's a Boost Mobile device prepaid?

It is possible that there is a difference, possibly in the firmware build, or in some type of carrier specific protected or encrypted partition. To clarify I used this exact method on a LGLS450 Virgin Mobile branded. The method worked first time. You should perhaps try Kingoroot, the PC version. Also, RootGenius and KingRoot, PC versions, have proven effective in the past on some of these budget LG devices. Please keep me posted on your progress.
