Claystone 3D Launcher: What comes next? - Android Apps and Games

Hey, guys...
Roughly a week ago we came to you asking for feedback on our Claystone 3D Launcher application and the response we've received thus far has been tremendous.
(See thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1298754 )
In keeping with that, we have just one question: What comes next?
What new feature, from the ones most frequently mentioned in the thread referenced above, would you like to see in an upcoming build?
As much as we'd love to, we can't bring in everything at once and need your help in determining what suggestions should receive immediate attention vs. which ones can cool their heels for a bit prior to inclusion.
If you could take a moment to submit your vote, we'd really appreciate it!
(Please note: we're already at work on stability and performance enhancements, stack labels, changes to the Home and Back soft key inputs, and a few other small improvements - just in case anyone was wondering why they don't appear as poll options.)
Thanks again for all the help, guys!

please support qHD resolution! it would be so cool!
i know i mentioned this in the main topic and i also know that you saw my suggestion but i want to say it again because i think there are coming more and more android phones/tablets with qHD screens... ATM there are only a few HTC and Motorola phones (and i own with my HTC Sensation one of these )
thanks in advance and i like claystone, its a really great launcher but i dont like blurry images as home screen, so i use it as far as there is qHD support...

Is the Motorola Atrix a qHD screen? We have one in-house and have been testing against it and it works fine. Which qHD device are you using? Thanks!

For the record, I totally had my money on 'Support for Scrolling Widgets' taking top billing. I very well could be proven wrong!

New HTC Android Device

I didn't see any other thread for this so:
http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/16/what-new-htc-android-phone-is-this/
Wonder what it could be?
It's the HTC Zoom 2 (HTC Dragon). Spec's say maybe released Dec. 2009:
http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2067&c=htc_zoom_2_htc_dragon
Looks like the Android version of the HD2 many people have been wishing for. Nice to have choices right?
Hm, I really hope it's not. Don't really like the looks of it.
Though IF it is the HTC dragon, it would be easier for me to choose the HD2 (out sooner + sexier ). It is a shame though, as I would have enjoyed trying out Android. Ah well... maybe next time.
Is it me or do the pictures look rather stretched. The screen looks way too long and narrow. It's not proportined right. The looks aren't that great either.
If this is the Android-version of the HD2, then they really screwed up the design, It looks like **** compared to the Touch HD2.
Plus its much bigger with that added chin for the trackball.
They should add the trackball between the buttons and skip that bottom chin.
What you all complaining about? I think it looks great.

It's not ugly. It just doesn't look as nice as the HD2 in my opinion.
Ok Someone else call Shananigans with me.......... This is more than a likely photoshopped Samsung Moment. Look at them both.

Yeah. But the eris is supposedly the Verizon Hero. So why they are pushing the moto Droid more than that IDK. Probably cause the screen aint no 4.3 inches.
Would be cool if the Eris was the Dragon though. But IDK.
http://phonedog.com/cell-phone-rese...ee-k-i-s-s-say-android-phones-are-coming.aspx
Screen doesn't look big enough neither does the device. The phone the other guy is hodlding is the Droid.
So mebe they took the Eris/Desire and photoshoped that picture so the screen was stretched and phone look bigger? Look at how stretched the Android bot is in one of those pictures where it's in landscape mode.
That phone looks like a shopped Droid Eris which is basically a Verizon Hero. Moto Droid all the way though.
Why soooo much of hoax circulating around. Just like with Leo b4 it ws announced?
It wont be called Dragon or Passion, but Bravo and its expected to be released late Q1, early Q2 of 2010 wearing 3.7'' and not 4.3 screen and many others....

Nobody spoken about an Android-based HD2 and neither did I. I just said that the device which the topic/thread is about (and so are the photos which are circulating) will be released as i have priorly stated on end of March (Q1) start of April (Q2) of 2010, as i have seen all the devices portfolio live, on my hands, a week ago.
Any idea what CPU its running? I like the idea of an android handset, but not if its using the same old MSM as my current TD2.

Guys, the forthcoming on April 2010, Android handset which will be finally called as HTC Bravo has nothing to do with the picture which was circulation over the net for quite a while. The device looks great from any point of view and as member nizzon correctly stated before, i can confirm to all of you, that the rounded red-coloured trackball will be between the buttons at the bottom of the device. The device is slim with perfect design and with really nice specs.
Wrongly many stated that Bravo is the Android side of Leo (HD2) as the only same feature which is maintained from Leo is the Snapdragon QSD 8250 1GHz CPU and many others have been added in advanced as the HD 720p Video caprure.
Will post you shortly exclusively 1-2 pictures to have a look, along with the offcial specs known so far
That sounds awesome dude!

Best Handset at the moment?

Please recommend me a new handset as I'm getting the bug for a new one again and I'm a bit out of touch.
I've had just about every handset HTC has ever made since the very first XDA I.
I'm not put off by size (I love and still use my Athena)
Must be fast and good at playing video/divx etc
Prefer some kind of flash.
I kinda like the Pro2 but worried its just a pretty face and no big performance increase?
Also concidering a Hero but worried about Android. Can I transfer all contacts, calender etc over ok?
Suggestions on a postcard please
The HD2 LEO is the latest and greatest with Snapdragon! See it's section for details:http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=532
But if u want a keyboard, then the TP2.
Touch Pro 2 is the best hardware keyboard device!
We always want more!!
Snapdragon in a few years will be nothing and we still want more speed, more performance......
I strongly recommend you to buy Touch Pro 2. It is more than just a pretty face. It has a tilting screen. It allows for optimum viewing angle when typing, it allows you to easily watch a movie without holding your device, and it's great if you're using GPS navigation in the car.
Thanks guys, any comments on the Hero?
Are they easy to mod and transfer contacts etc from WM?
Hero comments here:

All HTC devices can be modded thanks to XDA!!
All can be done (almost all )
Motorola Droid is announced tomorrow.

Hey orb, maybe there will be no keyboard and just visual & voice interface!
Also, there will be Kryptonite Batteries that go a year w/o a recharge!
don't worry about Android. I am a long time WM user, and had a G1 phone for almost a year now. Android is a very very nice system with a lot of software in the Marketplace.
That being said, I just got myself the new Acer neoTouch.
1 GHz Snapdragon, good amout of RAM, nice 3,8" WVGA screen, WM 6.5, configurable accelerometer, nice design, good build quality.
I would say, if you don't need a keyboard and don't want to wait for the HD2, this is the best device today. it is very speedy, has good usability and seems reliable so far.

Personally, if you don't have a place like xda to help enjoy your phone then it's not worth getting another phone that you can not customize above and beyond the typical parameters. I don't know too much about LG or Toshiba's support sites out there but I often stick with HTC because xda.
It's not just about the phones specs but the people behind the phones that matter more. XDA is that community that keeps me close to HTC.
Do research using the various website like GSM Arena to figure out the best phone....but don't stop there. Find out the support Groups that are willing to carry you and your device to it's furthest limits.
Hope this helps.....
Well said band27! Definately check the HTC devices & hang out on XDA!

Hi there
I have a LG IQ (Canadian eXpo). I have never had a HD or a tg01 so I cant compare them directly but I can comment on the eXpo.
I very much like my eXpo, but as other posters have said, the big thing you lose going to another manufacturer is this communities support, although several on this forum have stated that they will work on ROM development when it becomes possible. There is a fledgling web site www.lg-expo.com and a special interest group here, where discussions about development can take place.
things I love about the eXpo:
The keyboard - as good feel as the Touch Pro 2, but with a few less keys
The screen - colorful and bright but I havent used a HD
The SPEED of the processor -1 GHz and you know it when browsing or booting your device. You also know it when using processor intensive apps - doing things like browsing a large music collection.
the camera - 5 Mpixel, flash and it works quite well for a phone camera.
I am looking forward to the coming availability of the projector attachment.
the hardware multi-tasking button, and LG task manager works better than anything else I have seen on WM
the fingerprint reader - yes this works for security - and it works fast so I actually use it, which wasn't the case with the password systems and in my situation I really should use security of some type.
After TF3D or Sence, the S Class user interface is different and needs some getting used to! I have grown to like it but it was a rocky road the first week.
The bad...It has no internal stylus, so you have to use your finger nail sometimes. With 6.5 I find I can live with this since I don't end up wanting to use a stylus too much.
good luck and cheers,
Stay with HTC!
Go for Leo or Rhodium
So far the best 2 devices to this date

Seemed pretty fair and balanced. Glad to see that pics are better with this handset over some other HTC ones. Little bummed about the tearing int he video - but I imagine that might be something that a software update might address. Browser seems fine if a little different than the samsung when zooming flash. Battery life looked ok - but what surprised me was that they have great battery life on their SGS II. That seems to be one of the most dominant complaint threads on their boards.
All in all I feel better about looking to purchase one when it comes out in the states.
Damn.
I'm thinking more and more of getting the SG2 now instead due to lack of dev support and this review is swaying it more too. The SG2 is a much better hardware package but i prefer the design of htc and i prefer sense to touchwiz.
I can comment on TouchWiz vs. Sense. I got an SGS2 because I couldn't wait for the Sensation to come to the States to evaluate it. I had Sense on my former HTC phones and was expecting TouchWiz to be kind of the same thing. Sense is an environment with apps tightly integrated whereas TouchWiz is really just a Samsung launcher. I used launchers on my last two phones which were vanilla Android so TouchWiz's more Android feel felt comfortable. People looking for HTC's approach toward common apps being front-ended by Sense and tightly integrated would be disappointed with TouchWiz. Not that TouchWiz is bad and a lot of Samsung's proprietary apps and hubs are really good, it's just a very different approach.
"Sensation as the consumer’s phone and the Galaxy S II as the Android fan’s phone"
this review is that whas i need.
i dont intresting sg2. i only intresting or sensation is beter that desire in all aspekts ( screen, power, call quality, camera, sound in 3.5mm and laudnes in speeker, battery u.t.t)

i disagree. sg2 is just too ugly and iphone'esque (even if Apple copied their original design from samsung)
HTC are a better all rounder i think
Well Barff1984, I do agree with you that in the all-rounder category the Sensation is the winner, however in terms of "Android Fans Phone" I think it's a bit inconclusive:
On one hand you've got the fact that the SGS2 was released earlier, with its bootloader opened wide with the sound of devs cheers, incredible specs and whatnot. Is it the easy fan choice? Well;
On the other hand: Some people (myself included, hate me if I sound a bit biased) prefer HTC's approach - albeit slightly weaker, when it comes down to the experience of actually using it - the UI, the sense of quality in your hand is a key factor.
And you know what? I think that's another way of being an Android fan - sticking with the things you like, and not fitting into an iFruity pattern. That's the beauty of Android - you've always got choice, whether its hardware or software. If you don't like it - change it. Because you can.
Plus I can smell the dev gods are cooking delicious stuff for us Hardcore HTC guys, and just because Samsung got a head start doesn't mean the Sensation is DOA.
i agree with you trek -
I don't think you can say either phone is better, they both had good points, both had bad points...
but the reason i love android - WE are left with a choice of which one WE prefer !
i happen to prefer better build and feel of htc and sense over touchwiz.

I think you've mis-read the quote slightly.
I think it's to do with the sensation having a more polished interface which will make it sit better with casual users. Whereas people that have researched the phones a great deal will possibly prefer the Galaxy2 for its unlocked bootloader and arguably better hardware.
Of course as slashgear also stated, this generalisation does nothing for either phone as both are power houses.
P.s. I also realise that the vast majority of users here have researched both phones and have alot of knowledge, hence the reason we're here. ;-)

It's a never-ending debate.
As long as someone is happy with any of the phone, I would say job well done from the part of the manufacturer/OEM. And I believe the review did it's best not to raise the fanboy-ish sentiments that we have.
I am absolutely sure that Engadget review will be provocative/controversial (it's always their goal to generate maximum comments). Gsmarena/Anandtech seems to be much more detailed and objective.

I think the review was good. I saw some complaints about it being too superficial but I think it serves its purpose and was unbiased pointing out the benefits and cons giving each phone its due (I don't care that it was more of a comparative review as that's basically how people on here treat it). I also hope the GSMArena one comes out soon. They tend to have very detailed review going into all aspects of the phones. I'm still quite sure I'm getting it but I like to be aware of all the "bad" stuff before I get something (this is also nice because often the bad doesn't turn out to be as bad as I thought it would be making me pleasantly surprised rather than disappointed )

I agree, minor steps for big improvements.
1) Think the ram is the big issue, specially when sense is going to take up
more ram then touchwiz (im guessing here but im pretty certain it be the
case)
2) Im sure "hoping" that this will be by passable, I've read a detail
article about this stating, it not as bad as people believe. I dont understand
it fully but as most people on here, i just want custom roms!
3) Would be nice, but not on my top list as personally im not a big
web broswer on my mobile. (Although might change when i get a bigger screen
and faster web browsing )
Im leaving work early to fly down to the vodafone shop and see if
they have one in stock - bar that to phones 4 u shop opposite so
hopefully I'll be able to talk from first hand experience!
Hmm, I wonder when we'll start seeing reviews with proper GPS testing. Not comments like "the gps is fine, it locked really fast!" but showing some tracks and proof of decent accuracy and consistency. That would help avoiding fiascos like the one with the Galaxy S.
I'm curious about the Sensation but will definitely not buy another toy without clearing this out first... can't get lost.
did anyone notice sample camera picture taken by sensation at slashgear review have soft image on left and sharp on the right?
ignore the already out of focus background flower pic, other street and tree pictures it doesn't seem like depth of field, anyone got the device on hand can confirm or share your picture please.

True, I'd like to know this. But no tech site, or youtube review has brought up the GPS issue, which I'm sure they would when they did their review.
I did hear (made a poll), on androidforums, that a few had these problems but all of them, now, have basically ironed themselves out. Really odd, but a few days later virtually everyone reported back that it fixed itself. I know your looking for hard evidence but I just thought I'd share what I know.

Thanks for posting. Seems to be all over the place now, including PocketNow, Engadget etc etc.
I really hope the phone in question is running an S3 SoC like our Sensation because it looks DOG slow. I know poeple will say it's only a test build, but even so, if that's what the S4 (Krait) has to offer I'm deeply disappointed. And qHD resolution? Really? Eeeek. Why no 720p? Chip not up to it?
Apart from bluetooth 4.0, more RAM and a better camera sensor I don't see too much of an improvement in terms of hardware. Still got a big bezel. Not sure HTC are doing the right thing here - the hardware is enough of an improvement to make people who have just got a Sensation on a two year contract feel a bit frustrated, but not significant enough to make those people who are a year into a contract trade up. Hope this isn't their flagship for the MWC in Feb ; ) If this IS an S3 chip then I guess Krait must have been delayed and this is just fodder to buy HTC time. It'll be interesting to see full details at the MWC : )
Is it me or does showing off the phone's IMEI number etc seem a bit foolhardy of whoever filmed that video? Surely HTC will be able to work out who had that prototype recently and kick their butt?? Unless HTC leaked it themselves I suppose...but why would you show such laggy software?

looks like they pulled the video guess the "leaked" info was gaining too much attention... here are screen shots http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-ville-caught-video?utm_source=ac&utm_medium=twitter

Well, including the "working" sounds in the backgrounds. It looks like this is just recorded somewhere in a HTC office. And without him acting nervously or something might this be done on purpose? And indeed the software seems to be unfinished.
Edit: Nevermind, I just saw the software info screen in the video. If really this will be Sense 4.0 (which I doubt), I won't buy HTCs for a couple of months/years.
menu animations look laggy guessing they will improve
overall HTC ville looks kinda sensation-ish and yeah spec wise it isnt that much of an upgrade
sense 4.0 looks laggy as hell but thats how the first leaked version of ICS sense 3.5 used to be as well so i think we got nothing to worry about
cept AOSP looks hotter lol
It runs at Android 4.0.1 as you can see. Remember our Sense 3.5 builds with ICS 4.0.1? Very laggy.. like this one.
I guess we should wait for the final version and then judge.
Btw, I find it a pretty sexy device.. Thin, nice specs (although it could be better ofcourse..) and Sense
I only hope that HTC will optimize their software for the SoC's so it'll run utterly smooth.
the font on the clock widget is ugly as ****!! the corrent clock is better.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using xda premium
Looks good, specs are not bad but why the hell doesnt it have an 720p display instead of qhd like the htc rezound I hope this is wrong lol

Agreed : ) Looks like some of the imitation 'sense clock' widget skins in the Market ; )
Some sites are stating that the Ville has the Krait chip in it. If that's true it's supposed to be up to 60% faster....in which case either the firmware on that device in the video is truly awful or Krait might be a let down. Really hope it has the same chip as the sensation.
Kinda weird about the screen resolution. Does that mean the Rezound went too far for the current performance of Qualcomm's SoC so HTC had to back it down a bit?
By the way, the reason I care about the lag, even in an early test build, is that I was one of those people who got bitten in the race to offer VGA screens a few years ago. At the time the hardware in my Touch Pro just wasn't good enough to push that many pixels around (vs QVGA) so I was stuck with a fairly sluggish device for a looooong time (although to his credit NRGz worked miracles with his ROMs for it : ). I can't help thinking manufacturers are in the process of doing the same to us again at the moment with the transition from WVGA to qHD and HD screens. Compared to my HD2 my Sensation is clearly faster most of the time, but in certain cirsumstances the gap feels pretty slender.
I'd love it if performance over MHL to a tv was better - it really will be great when we can truly use our smartphones as mini pcs connected to a tv/monitor at 720p+, with a bluetooth media keyboard controlling things and a Micro SDXC card with enourmous amounts of storage.
