stock i9023 - get notification toggles & get rid of overscroll? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
Quite new to the Nexus S, I have a i9023 bought in Australia.
Running the stock ROM which has updated itself to 2.3.6. Rooted.
Loving it so far and a little reluctant to mess with other ROMs just yet.
Only a couple of things I wouldn't mind changing, the lack of notification area button toggles, I know there are apps that will put lines in the notification area to toggle things but I really liked the buttons on my other android devices. (I do use use switchpro widget but have to exit out of an app to get back to the homescreen first)
Is there some way to get these without flashing a new ROM?
Also I dislike the orangy yellow overscroll, can I get rid of it?
Thanks

Strange Icon in top bar

Hey,
I hard reset my phone the other day as i messed it up to go to a fresh install of NatF's 4.4
Ever since i ahve an icon in the top bar which looks like a batter with a plug going into it. This is always there and the phone is not even plugged in. How can i get rid of it?, what does it mean? - It was there on my previous install of this rom.
Also, the icons in the programs and settings menus are small, especially the text. I used to get 3 icons to a line but now get 4? - which is normal?
Thanks
Regards,
Neil

Hi Neil,
Not sure about the battery icon in your task bar but the norm is 3 icons per row in Settings and Programs. If you want to change it back to 3, NATF has a custom cab for it in his thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469450#4
If you want to make the font on the icons bigger, use Schap's Advanced Config and under "User Interface" change: "Icon title font size" default is 6 on NATF's roms.
You're still on 4.4? You know he released 4.6 today.
yeh, I would upgrade but it takes ages to reinstall all my apps and the main thing is setting everything to how I like it! - so many small options hidden everywhere which take ages to alter and fix to my liking

[Q] Combined statusbar?

Hi, ive been using the tablet mode on my NS for a few days and i really like the statusbar located on the bottom combined with the bar with buttons. Is there any way to make this while leaving other stuff intact? Thanks
Not by now i think I looked gor it too but couldnt find amything :s

Anyone get ghost images in their status bar?

Since I have had my s3, i notice sometimes in my status bar i get ghosted images of my icons. For example, I have tasker installed with the ongoing notification. Sometimes when the icons change, a ghost image appears of the tasker icon, even behind a new icon. Its not just tasker, its any of the icons in my status bar on the left side. They go away eventually. Wondering if others have the same issue.
Edit- just noticed it happens on the entire status bar, left to right.
Yea it happened to me on synergy.i was running that fancy theme with aroma installer... Synergy got too bloated for my taste. Cleanrom is great.
What rom do you have
VZW GALAXY S 3 4G LTE
Currently on Synergy. I thought Cleanrom was odex, I like being able to theme my phone, seems like most themes are designed for Synergy.
Ive had this happen to me on stock. It occurs randomly and the one time I really noticed it was after updating some apps in the market. Goes away just as randomly. I hope this doesnt become a more persistent bug.

[Q] Change Navigation Bar Content on Stock ROM?

Hi,
I'm trying to get a Nexus 7 like UI in my Galaxy Tab 7.7. I have ICS 4.0.4 running on it. I installed Nova Launcher, set it as default, replaced Samsung Keyboard, changed DPI to 213, replaced some other misbehaving Samsung Apps. So far so good. But I would like to further simplify the UI, like in Nexus:
1) Introduce a new bar on the top of screen like Nexus7, move the icons on the right side of bottom navigation bar to top of screen. I need a new bar for this, any idea how can I get it? the notifications shall also start to pop down from top of the screen.
2) Disable mini-apps bar in the middle of bottom navbar. Anyway many of them don't function anymore in 213 DPI and I don't need it anymore.
3) Distribute the remaining navbar icons evenly onto the bottom navbar. Now they are very close to each other on the crowded left side of the bar.
Is this mission impossible? I was eventually using latest CM10 version which was good, but one morning I woke up with a depleted battery and a boot loop. I will wait some more time in the stock ROM (if possible) to try again either CM10 or PA.

[Q] Notification Power Buttons on Stock Rom

Hey Guys,
everyone, who for once has been using cyanogen mod, knows what i am talking about.
These little small buttons in the notification bar, to control wifi, data, gps and bluetooth...
I loved them on my defy and I'm sad about not having them on the razr.
Nevertheless, i would love to have them without changing the rom, so here is the Question:
Is there a possibility to mod the SystemUi.apk or/and other parts of the System so that i can have them fully functional on Stock Rom or is it straightaway impossible.
I have just checked the SystemUi of cm10 and there are files in there, which seems to be responsible for the Buttons, but i cant really figure out the magic happening in the Background, making them Appear in notifications.
Hope anyone knows an answer, greetz Esok
I use Notification Toggle:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle&hl=en
Works the same but has a persistent icon in the statusbar...I don't even notice it now.
