Good luck finding someone to swap for an ordinary black cover. I have seen some that were spray painted white. I'm not fond of having something painted in my pocket, but there are probably better paints available since I painted my pager 15 years ago.
I have a white Fascinate and my co-worker has the black. It is not just the battery cover that is white, it is also the piece around the phone above the chrome.

Same here. The volume rocker, power button and micro usb port cover are also pigmented white. With out those particular parts being white, I think a white cover on a black phone would look rediculous.
Now you guys are just being picky. Ill be happy with just the white battery cover. So what about the volume rocker and USB cover.

i was just playing with a white fascinate at best buy and it felt sturdier than ours does
Why not just wrap the back with a Zaggskins? So many more options for customization than just black or white.
also check out http://www.decalgirl.com/item.view/53217, available in a matte finish. I don't know what their template for the back actually looks like and if it's a seamless application (without cutouts to address the corners) but you can get a matching front as well.
Mass produce please
Would someone please just start mass producing back covers in different colors and materials for this device. I'd love an aluminium one or any metal in that case, even wood would be cool OR JUST PLASTIC in different colors! I feel like there is high enough demand for this, yet no one has jumped the gun to go on Alibaba and find a factory willing to pump them out.
Sourcingmap.com represents a China factory that is already making replacement battery covers for the Galaxy i9000. I sent an email to suggest a few tooling changes to open up a much wider market...
Hey I got my decal girl skin yesterday and LOVE it. It fits perfectly on front of phone and the back piece is a solid piece without slits. The entire side around the whole phone is not covered but it gives good contrast. Exactly the look I was looking for. Most of my friends are amazed with how it looked and thought I had gotten a new phone. A+ for decal girl. I'm now looking to skin all my portable electronics. By the way hooray for smart keyboard pro with iPhone skin. I don't know but I came from an iPhone and this keyboard is one of the most accurate with the iPhone like correction. Awesome keyboard.

Any chance we could see a pic of the installed skin? I spent a little time talking with a decalgirl rep and decided not to go with their product because it sounded like the coverage on the back corners wasn't sufficient.
Ill try to get pics up. I work retail commission so I'm stuck at work. And I only have the back on now. My 1 year old ripped the front right off in two pieces.

Spoke with both Best Buy and Samsung today in my free time at work.
Best Buy said to contact their parts department at 1-888-237-8289
Samsung Rep also told me to call parts and said they will be able to place the order for you.
"Melvin: You can call official Samsung parts dealer at 1800-627-4368. Timings: Mon – Fri. 9am to 6pm EST."
I haven't called either yet, but will get around to it to see if we can buy a replacement and the cost of it. (I can't imagine it would cost more than the black which is about $7-8)
Sweet let us know

to those that plan to skin their phones, do you plan to put it in a case?
I have a nice case (platinum from best buy) but between the case and the clip, there is no point for me to skin the phone or buy a white case.
I'm curious what you will do once you skin it? will you just use a slip case?
If i had get another case to have the white color, i'd do this one.

Yesterday I got a new battery from Anker (1900mhz) from Amazon. Which my Parents brought it when they picked me up from school. On the way to do some errands I popped the Anker battery into my Sensation. While at Toys R Us with my sister who they brought along also I decided to bring my stock battery just in case my Anker quieted on me. (Trying to fully discharge the battery as per manual) Long story short, I forgot to take my stock battery out of my jeans and it got washed and dried in the washing machine.
Right now it feels dry but the water sticker is basically indicating that it's been washed and the right 2 contacts are corroded.
Any thoughts on what to do with the battery?
like try to get a replacement or just recycle it?
Also at Toys R Us my sis got a Amazon Kindle Tablet. with a 10 dollar gift card that couldn't be given, so they marked 10 dollars off of it.
Just recycle it, you've already got your replacement battery.

Any experience with the powerskin? Any other alternatives? I really am looking for a case with extra battery and not just extra batteries or a different back cover. I like the idea of a case/battery combo.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk
I know some people who use it and it works for them but a lot of the reviews say it stops charging after a few months...
For the same price you can get the sedio 3800mah battery (60$ ) and then get the case for the extended battery also from sedio (20$ ) which might be a little bit more reliable..
Iirc, the phone won't deep sleep with the powerskin. You don't even need a battery that big. Nexus extended is far more than enough. You don't need one at all. I run 24 hours plus on stock with over 5 hours screen on, gtalk and text all day, emails, fb, weather, words with friends, stream music, and more.
With the nexus extended I'd need a new cover? If so, are there cases that accomdate for the new back cover?

You don't need a new cover. The battery might fit great, it might bulge. definitely didn't need a new case and my cover does bulge slightly

That battery is awesome. I've had it for two days now. I am a moderate to heavy phone user, and it is sitting at 43% after 15 hours of being unplugged. 40% of that is screen time.
I had the power skin, worked great for awhile but now the USB cord on the bottom to connect to the phone stopped working. I could probably have it serviced under warranty but....yeah don't want to bother it wasn't that good

I am on my 4th Powerskin for my SR in less than two months. They either die and stop working or the charging port gets worn down so it only makes contact when you hold it and put pressure on it. It is realistically about an extra 75% added to your battery, but your phone uses it to stay 100% charged so none of your battery saving features work. Would recommend a larger replacement battery over a case battery. I ended up buying extra andido batteries off amazon and plan on giving that a try over this.
I bought it at AT&T so they keep giving me replacements but will not give me a refund.
Do not recommend.
On my 2nd powerskin and it along with the 1st one stopped recharging......waste of time. Plus it makes it bulky.
I went through two of them. The last one overheated my phone and killed it :-( at&t gave me a new phone and I changed to an otter box.

Up until today, I had never dropped my Skyrocket before and then today all of a sudden I dropped my phone three times! Now it has little chips and scratches around the edges of the rear housing and scratches on the battery cover and there's one little piece of paint chipped off on the front edge of the housing (not on the screen, but the plastic part next to the screen). Luckily the screen is fine though.
So now the question is, should I try to buy a new rear housing and battery cover? I'm getting a new phone soon, so I'll probably be selling this one and I don't know whether I should replace the housing and battery door or not...
Will the scratches and little dents and stuff lower the value enough that it will be worthwhile to replace the housing?
Thanks!
No, slap a case on it. Rock it untill you get new one.
Yea it will not sell for very high scratched, but people don't care whether it had scratches as long as the case covers it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Am I understanding you incorrectly or are you saying that what people don't see, they don't care about? Thus, if I just throw a case over the scratches, people will no longer care about the scratches?

+1 Like covering baldness with a cap. Whoever's going home with it will notice the most.
How about putting a case on before it gets dropped? Skyrocket is a slippery beast, good tpu cases are cheap.

I usually buy cases (I had 4 for my Inspire), but this time I didn't buy one because I got the Skyrocket right when it came out and there weren't any cases I liked that weren't really expensive. I just never really got around to it later...
And I'm still not sure what you guys are telling me to do? If I sell it, what am I supposed to say? "It has scratches but don't worry, you can't see them because there's a case over them."
And I guess I won't be getting a new phone until the One X starts shipping into the US again....
You can get OEM battery covers for $15 or less shipped.
I'm not aware of anywhere to get a whole new body though. And I looked a little bit.
It's like selling a car... Want top dollar... Fix it closest to mint... Want to dump it, cut the cost and sell as is

Well they have the housing on eBay for around $20 and the battery cover can be had for around $10.
But what I need to figure out is, if I replace those two things, will the price be at least $40-50 more than the scratched up phone? Is it worth my time, effort, and cost to fix it or would it be cheaper (or more worth it) to just sell it as is?
Link to the housing??

Btw, eBay is too fickle. You can get anywhere from an incedible buyers price to a horrible price.
Depends on too many variables that you can't control unless you set a BIN at a high price and are willing to wait several days or weeks for it to sell.
Or a high reserve... but IMO, a high BIN is better than a high reserve because high reserve prices just generally piss off buyers. Or at least me.
How much is your time worth? I know it wouldn't be worth my time and effort..but that's MY time.
If someone has the choice between $300 scratched phone and $300 none scratched, which one do you think they will go for? If someone is putting out that much money they don't want to buy crap. If I had a choice between a $300 new looking phone and a $250 scratched one, I'm going for new.

How much do you think it would drop the price?
The less it drops the price the less likely it will sell. Say it drops the price only $10 who will buy a scratched phone when they can get a better one for only $10 more dollars.

Yeah but for like $50, you don't think that would make much of a difference?
Why don't you put it up for sale as a feeler and see what kind of offers are working. The longer you wait, the less it'll be worth.

What i'm saying is people use cases with their phones, majority of the time. Someone getting a deal will buy a scratched up one. Replacing the housing is expensive and not worth it for resale. I personally have the otterbox from the day I bought it. So my phone is in mint condition.

First of all I was suppose to return my phone Thursday for a replacement due to a loose home button.
Tonight I put the phone in my pant pocket, and for some reason there was some type of chalk looking round ball in my new shorts. Anyway, it managed to scratch up the back of my battery cover... Now I nervous that when I take my phone back on Thursday to return it, they are going to deny my replacement even though I have it in writing on my account that they will be replacing it when the new shipment comes in.
First question is will they definitely deny my replacement due to scratches on my back cover? If so, do you think it would be alright if I said I would just switch the old back cover with the new back cover so the one I'm returning does not have scratches on it?
Is there anywhere to buy stock back covers for these phones?
I don't think this will be an issue. I wouldn't purchase a new cover, just return it.

I hope you're right... I attached some pics.
When I go to exchange it should I have everything in the box with the battery out? Or should I have the phone out with the battery in?
I'm looking for the method that will bring the least inspection. If they have to remove the back it's going to be obvious.

The worst case scenario would be to just swap the back with the one from the new phone when you exchange it. This assumes you are getting the exact same thing.

I'm hope so. I'm afraid if they see scratches on the back plate they are going to start questioning the phone, and trying to pin the loose home button on me.
Maybe I should come clean before they even have a chance to notice it.
