So I've been using gtg's infused 2.2.3 with bedwa's infusion kernel and mattedblues theme when one day I reboot my phone and no boot animation. All I get is the initial Samsung splash screen and lockscreen.
I've navigated to /system/media using root explorer and see the "bootanimation.zip" there and I even tried changing it to "sanim.zip" and still no boot animation either way.
I think I may be missing a file in /system/media but I can't figure out what it might be.
Any ideas?

Certain kernels have it disabled. Try reflashing bedwa's kernel.

Maybe your bootanimation binary has been corrupted. Have you tried flashing Hellraiser(I know you dont need it for the rom ur on). It worked for me,when mine went bye-bye. My 2 cents.
Keep the change.Lol

Why do you even want one? It just lengthens your boot time.
I remove mine on purpose.

FALSE. It starts and runs in the background as other services are loading. Once the last service is started, it then exits. It does nothing to add to your boot time. You will have to wait for all those services to start to have a working phone in the first place anyway, why not make the time go by with some animation?
I have the same issue. Infused 2.2.3 with infusion gb kernel. Otherwise phone is unstoppable and amazingly badass...want a bootanimation though.

May be a silly question but have you recently installed any init.d scripts that disable the bootanimation? I know one version of the 99tweaks is specifically no bootanimation and others may do so as well without calling them out. You might check the files in your init.d for anything that mentions "boot animation" or "bootanimation". See if something has forced it off.

Here is the Nexus s boot animation. It will work with any rom or kernel. Has your favorite kernel or rom change your boot animation well just down load this and flash using clockwork and youll have the stock boot animation back. Alternatively you can unpack the zip and copy bootanimation.zip over to the system/media folder on your phone.

I'll never quite understand why, but it's always bothered me having a different boot screen.. Thank you

Isn't there a way to just restore it? I thought I remember reading on here that you can override a kernel boot animation with whatever one the rom came with... be it stock, cm7, etc.
There is and i have just figured it out with upload the file in a minute

im loving this kernel, but is it possible in future versions to use cm7 built in oc controls instead of setcpu. netarchy kernel is able to use the build in cm7 controls and its nice not having to use an extra app, other than that great work!
I remembered the stupid easy way I was thinking about yesterday. I remembered after reading something that the boot animation is is /system/media. All I did was copy the animation I wanted (in my case the CM7, now using the 3D CM7 one I JUST found) and copied it over the bootanimation.zip that was currently residing in said folder.
Bam, back to stock or whatever boot animation without flashing anything
yes you can do that to. using root explorer. or you can even use adb if you want. the file resides in system/media/bootanimation.zip

I recently successfully installed Infused 2.1.0 after pulling my hair and running into weird issues along the way, like boot loops etc (learning... slowly).
I love to tweak things and ran across this GB tweak here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236779
The dumb question part is how the heck do I "flash" that into my device? I was thinking that I need to go into CWM recovery thingy with the red letters during post and I remember seeing an option to install a .zip. Now I was either thinking that or either I need to use SGS Kernel to flash it?
Sorry for the nubby Q but I'm sooo confused here.

Could you use root explorer to add an .oog audio file in the sub folder and name it something?Or go into system/bin. Open the boot animation file with the correct program and ad a line to lead to the audio file? I know really in depth but an idea. Might also have to link to framework which is to much trouble for me atleast as I dont have that kind of brains.

In the gnex forum, they have an awesome script that randomizes boot animations. I think this is very cool and I was wondering if this already exists for our sensation, if not, maybe someone who knows codes can make a flashable script? It seems simple but our roms does not seem to have a init.d support... I have no idea what that is.
So, if this was a repeat of some thread, mod, kindly link it to the correct one. If not, maybe we can use this as some sort of petition? So feel free sign or say +1 or click thanks if this is helpful in some way.
Thank you.

No one wants to make this script work for our sensation? I am surprised this doesn't exist yet at all. Unless I just missed it completely. I already tried asking...very nicely and without spamming...how to get it to work as the original gnex script creator said it can be used on ANY phone in ANY rom as long as the kernel has init.d support. But still no kernel Dev has answered this question. Oh well.

That's right. The script assigns a number to each bootanimation zip file and then every boot, you see a different animation. It seems really simple but I have no idea how to get it to work as I don't know much about android codes etc. I'm really surprised no one has picked up on this. I think it is so awesome!

Of course. I already tried. That's why I know it does not work. I'm currently on a rom with sebfms kernel. Either it is rom related or kernel but it definitely has something to do with init.d. folder in the system/etc folder. My current bootanimation is stored in system/media and the script is looking for the files in data/ local. The creator of script said it bypasses the system /media and uses data/local where various bootanimation zips are stored. I don't know. The script is not being called upon boot. I give up. Those who knows how to make it work are not exactly paying attention.

Just taken a look at the script and it is good to go, all you need is your custom bootanimation.zip files in /data/local/bootanimations/
If the script is not being loaded on boot it is because your ramdsk (the other half of boot.zip, 1st half is kernel so kernel + ramdisk = boot.img) doesnt have inbuilt init.d script support

I'm sorry but if people can't read I will start to lose my temper.
It is stated in both the OP of the original thread and in my last post that;
1. You need a ROM that supports init.d script
2. Bootanimations should be renamed to whatever then placed in /data/local/bootanimations/
Seriously how hard is it to read 1 post above yours
