Im stuck in recovery mode in clockworkmod 5.0.2.0 im at the main screen and i cant select power off or restart idk how to turn off my phone will taking my battery brick it?
Did you complete all the steps for flashing whatever it is you were flashing? If so then just yank the battery, I had it become non-responsive once and only once. I just pulled the battery. You could try holding volume up + power button also, not sure of it'll work in recovery though.

I'm new to Android and had my phone rooted everything seems good with the root but as soon as I go into rom manager and try to go into recovery mode I get the white HTC screen then starts to turn kinda brownish then black and will stay like that until phone is shut off. Please help I can't download any custom roms due to this I'm guessing. Thanks
Open Rom manager again. Press the option at the top to flash the recovery. After its done try to boot into recovery again.

Ya I tried that already a few times and still does not work also changed the clockworkmod recoveries and nothing
Have you tried booting into recovery manually by holding volume down and pressing the power button? I find this way is more reliable that ROM manager.
Is there a trick to that I tried it my phone vibrates and get the power off option but no reboot to recovery thanks
Have you turned fastboot off? settings - applications - remove check from fastboot
Make sure fastboot is off, like the poster above me said. Turn your phone off. Hold the volume down and press the power button. You should then be able to scroll down and select recover.
All you guys are awesome the headache is gone it worked thanks very much
actually when i go into recovery i still get that htc screen that turns black and will frezze up
Did you use Bubby323's root method? That is what it sounds like. If you did, then read the FAQ. There is a fix for this graphical error.
Hi,
My Inspire is now stuck in a cm7 bootloop after I messed up flasing cm7 to it, and I can't boot into recovery now. I take out the battery and restart it with power + vol- down, but it just loads back into the bootloop and there is no way for me to access any recoveries or the main screen. Is there any way I can completely reset my phone from my computer? It seems like that is my last resort now, so if that is possible I would be completely willing to start over from the beginning with rooting and flashing. Any help is appreciated.
Also, my volume rocker has not been working for the past few hours, and I have no idea if it was broken originally (I doubt that) or if it was broken after a bad root or something. This is the main reason I need to reset it from my computer.
Also, my phone is not being recognized by my computer when I plug it in. The more I think about it the more I realize that I'm probably screwed, so any advice to the contrary would make me love you forever.
try with the power cord attached, holding the volume up,power on until the red led starts flashing, then remove the battery put the battery back in, press the power button. for me this got it into recovery. good luck
Thanks for the help, but it didn't work. At this point I'm just looking for a way to reset it from my computer and start completely over. I don't care about any data or apps I had on there, and I don't even care about the root I had. If anyone knows ANY way to reset my phone back to factory settings (or if AT&T does this) please tell me.
If you vant get your computer to recognize your phone then you cant restore.
Some att stores can do it, but remember you have voided your warranty.
What recovery version are you using? If its an older version then you can plug the phone in while it is off, and it will boot into recovery.
How long have pulled the battery for?

Recovery is volume DOWN plus power for 5 seconds, bootloader its volume up plus power...
Try putting CM7 or any other ROM on your SD card via your computer, using a card reader. Then boot into recovery (volume down plus power), wipe data/cache/Davlik, then install from zip. That should get you up and running.

Ok so today my triumph stopped responding so i restarted it (took out the battery). then rebooted. upon reboot phone shuts down and now will hang at the motorola logo for about 10 min before boots but will shut back down due to the battery being dead(but had full charge when this started). Dont know what happened. So i try to get into clockworkmod to flash backup. cant get into it. the only thing i can do is get to the recovery.img file(pressing power+volume down). Other than that nothing.
also tried to boot with power pluged in. it stayed on but would not respond to any touches or button press except the lock button.
I have cwm 5.0.2.6 installed and tickerguy's cm7.
never had this problem till today. Any help would be appreciated.
a new development has occurred. now when i try to access recovery, the phone will just vibrate without stopping.
and i believe its stuck in a boot loop but without recovery i dont know anyway to exit the loop.
Are you able to get into download mode (power off then simultaneously press power button & vol- (should show polling))

Yes i am able to get to download mode
Well after some tinkering (replacing the recovery image, assuming something corrupted it) i can now get to recovery, still takes 10 min to load it though. But i am unable to do anything in recovery because i have to press the menu button to confirm selection but the buttons wont respond. Some help would be appreciated.
im using a tmobile samsung galaxy reverb and i installed cwm and a new rom. all was good till i installed rom toolbox and i was using the boot animation randomizer. it worked fine the first reboot then the next one the boot image never left the screen but i can rotate my screen and see half of my home screen also go into all my apps but i cannot see the upper/left half of my screen. i held down the power and vol down button and it goes to into the warning page about istalling a custom OS instead of CWM. can anybody please help me out with this???!!!
Is I'm not mistaken.. You want to power off your device. Then press power, home, and volume up to get to recovery.. (Not sure about home). I do know that volume down sends you to "download" which is not what you want.

If it just froze and rebooted the recovery should be fine.
Pull the battery for a minute. Insert it, then hold both volumes down together (the whole rocker), then hold the power button until it vibrates then release the power button. Continue to hold the volumes until the recovery is up. Restore a backup or do a clean reflash.

Exactly, all i need is download mode but when i enter it it vibrate loops after a press volume up.
when i enter download mode i see a blue screen then it boots and vibrates, why is it doing that
When the screen turns blue, does it start off black, and then start becoming pixelated and end up blue? Or does it just turn blue immediately? I had the same issue where I bricked my phone while I was using 4.3, and tried reverting back to stock... Sometimes, you cannot get into download mode if the phone is plugged in or not plugged in... Try both ways to see if you get any different results! Also try removing the battery for 30 seconds and then putting it back in... When you go back to stock, make sure it is ICS and not GB! You only get stuck in a boot loop if you do GB!

Hard brick won't boot at all. Even though it's not booting properly it still boots which means there is hope. Try going in to download mode plugged into USB with the battery pulled. If it works Odin back to stock. If you get stuck in a boot loop after flashing stock, don't panic. Just boot to recovery and wipe your cache's and reboot. Let us know if you need anything or resolve the issue.
