DESIRE HD RADIO will enable 2100 band on inspire 4g ? - HTC Inspire 4G

Hello,
I just love inspire 4g and would like to buy one, but I live in europe.
I need 2100 band to use 3G network.
Is it possible that after flashing the Desire HD radio, inspire 4g would have 2100 band available ? I know that Desire HD has 2100 available ...
Thank you for any response,

Nope - the hardware radio supports 850, 900, 1800, 1900. No way to change this through software.

why wouldnt you just buy a Desire HD? they are the same phone, except the inspire says AT&T on it

All the Desire HD models and the inspire support 850, 900, 1800, 1900 for gsm. But only the european desire HD supports 900,2100 for the higher speed data bands. The inspire and telus desire HD supports 850,1900 for its higher speed data. No software or ROM can change this.

What he^ said. Please search before opening a new thread as this has been covered Thousands of times over the years. If the phone is not set to handle a certain data band, nothing you can do short of swapping out the antenna will change it.

[Q] Flash Radio to Sensation 4G for HSPA 850??

Is it possible to flash a radio that supports HSPA 850 band for the Sensation 4G? I haven't gotten the phone as yet but it has already been shipped, and I noticed it supports 900/1700/2100 HSPA but not 850 band.
Pretty sure that's not possible, you'll need the Telsus version of the Sensation if you want 850. You intend to use it on At&t you will need a Telsus version.

So basically this is a hardware issue, theres no way of flashing a bell or telsus radio to a t-mobile sensation to get 850 band for 3g?

Yes it is a hardware limitation. But check your sensation data sheet if it shows 1900/850, 2100/900 MHz, then it is a world phone. It can be used.
I had similar problem with inspire 4g which has 1900/850 Mhz radio. It is incompatible for the 3g band used in India. I sold it back.

Inspire 4G vs. Desire HD

This is my first post so please dont slam me for it. I have been dealing with android phones since i had a G1 and im quite familiar with the superuser and Linux layout. I have rooted about 10-12 android devices in my time. Including unlocking and custom roms. I now have what i believe to be a HTC Inspire 4g and am having trouble defining if i have that or a Desire HD. Whats the difference in the two? Rooting, specs, pros and cons. Any response would be appreciated. Again this is my first post and i do appologize in advance if i posted in the wrong section.

A little searching would have found this information very quickly as its been discussed here and all over the interwebs. The difference is a revision differnce in sound (which is why patches are needed between the roms. And the 3g radio. Easy way to tell, if you get 3g in north america you have an inspire, otherwise you need the desireHD for 3g in europe. They cannot be changed to work universally.
I believe you can go off the model number. Pull your battery door off and look at the model number, then do a search to see which one you have.

The Inspire 4G will have an ATT logo on the back of the phone. And don't forget that Telus in Canada released the Desire HD also. It looks exactly like the European Desire HD except for the small hole next to the camera LED. This is a second mic for noise reduction and is not present on the European version. Except for the ATT logo on the Inspire 4G and the HTC logo on the Telus Desire HD, they are physically the same phone. Both are A9192. The European Desire HD is A9191. Under the battery cover you may see this: Pd98140 is for the Telus Desire HD, Pd98120 is for the Inspire 4G, and no clue what the European Desire HD is.

omg you just quoted information that answers your own question. so read what you quote first. no they are not identical, im not gonna repeat what was already covered a mouse scroll up the page. ^^
They do not have 100% the same hardware. The radio is different.

This is wrong. The Telus DHD is the same as the AT&T Inspire 4G and different than the Euro model. Telus uses the same HSPA frequencies AT&T does, and the Telus model also uses the newer audio setup that the Inspire does. The only differences I know of between the Telus, AT&T and Latin American models is branding and CID. In this case, model number does not tell the story.

No.
Oh no I am not wrong. I have the Telus Desire HD. Physically the phone is the same as the Inspire 4G except for the logo. But from the outside appearance it does look exactly like the European DHD. Now what did I say that was so wrong? Everything I mentioned was 100% correct. You just basically rephrased what I posted.
it's a big difference, I can tell... If only I knew that when I bought my phone... I have Inspire 4G and I live in Serbia, so no 3g signal for me.... (
i tried for some time to get 3g working, thinking it's some kind of software problem, but no. obviously, US phones should stay in US, right?

Yes and no. Telus still has a CDMA network, but their new network is HSPA.
My DHD is on their HSPA network.

[Q] HTC Sensation XE 3g Question

Hi,
i am planning to buy this mobile
https://negrielectronics.com/htc-sensation-xe-unlocked-white.html
i can see that this is a Australian model.
Network band : GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900,HSPA 900/AWS/2100
I am kinda of sure that indian networks use 2100MHZ for 3g and my T mobile HD2 worked perfectly with 3g
Does this mean this Sensation XE will also work because it does support 2100MHZ?
Also what is the difference between HSPA and HSDPA?
And this AWS is something to be concerned ?

HSDPA : High Speed Downlink Packet Access
HSDPA is basically 3G at higher speeds and often called 3G+ or 3.5G
HsDPA is to 3G as Edge is to GPRS
Now as for your other question, yes, to the best of my knowledge, most frequencies are supported on the XE.

Forcing a Sensation Tmous 4G to 850mhz..?

I've seen that a few samsungs and european HTCs can do this through service mode, but is there any way to force the Sensation 4G to 850mhz? according to HTC, the modem in the phone does support AT&T frequencies and the carrier with the best connection only supports 850mhz in my country, and i reeeally don't want to buy a new phone.
i know it's a longshot, but it's worth trying.
Be careful, you don't want to ruin your device. Watch for overheating. Watch for force closes. Any signs And go back to normal. Be very cautious overclocking that much

Its not overclocking, its trying to get one of the cellphone frequencies.

i'm not talking about overclocking, it's the data modem, to put it simply, i need to be on AT&T frequencies but my phone is T-Mobile, and i've seen people change it according to their region. is it possible on the Sensation?
Well for starters the only way you would be able to operate on that frequency one your device has to be carrier free meaning unlocked from all gsm carrier's and this will allow your device to operate on that frequency meaning all you would have to do is swap sim cards if your device is carrier free and then you be able to put in AT&T sim card and reboot however you can't do this unless you are carrier free

The Sensation supports 850mhz for gsm. It does not support 850mhz or 1900mhz hspa (at least the us version does not support 1900 hspa, having aws instead).
So if you are using an att sim and want 850mhz, you would have to switch it to gsm only (although it'd only work with gsm anyway since att uses 850/1900 for hspa iirc, or maybe just 1900?).
Even then, it'd choose between 850 and 1900 depending on signal / area, etc.

meaning my sensation is confined to EDGE speeds on said networks??
Compatible networks GSM/GPRS/EDGE
850 900 1800 1900 MHz
UMTS/HSPA
850 1900 2100 or 900 1700 2100 MHz
HSDPA 14.4 Mbps
HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
tmo version supports 900/1700/2100.
looks like the other version not available in america supports 850/1900/2100 for umts.
not sure if there's any difference in hardware or if it's defined in software (not a part that's included in ruu's).

Its a difference in hardware. The Canadian Bell version supports 850/1900 (AT&T Frequencies) You can use the T Mobile version but you will be limited to edge/2G only.

hi help 3g in 1900mhz

hi i read here in a post that mytouch 4 slide is a 3g in 1900 1700 2100, but according to gsmarena it comes only with 3g 1700 2100, as some tmobile units, my questions are:
does anybody knows the real configuration (only 1700 and 2100, or not)?
is there any radio that comes with 3g 1900mhz, even if its not from mytouch 4g slide, maybe other cause i think that the hardware will work in 1900 as 3g instead of only edge like in 850mhz?
is there any secret code to activate 3g band options?
thank you very much indeed
I would trust the gsm arena spec sheet, but haven't confirmed the bands myself. And not you cannot just add bands, they are interdependent of the radio in that sense, you can not add or remove them
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
To make it easier instead of using the Freqs (Because they overlap with other bands) here are the Bands that the mT4GS uses: Band 1 and Band 4.
Your confusion comes from T-Mobile refarming the 1900 MHz for 3G. This is the one at&t also uses. It is Band 2.
The mT4GS will not work on Band 2 in 3G only 2G. The hardware was made for Bands 1 and 4.
Use this chart it should clear up the confusion:
