[Q] Value Plan, Work Around... Am I missing Something - HTC Sensation

So i want the Sensation and the Touch Slide 4G, but on the value plan tmo whats you to pay retail for the phone and that's like $1000. Here's my work around.... No not craigslist, however I could get the two phone for about $700 maybe cheaper. Go to best buy get the the classic family 1000 with data and txting it's comes out to $119 a month for the two lines. Pay $99 for the sensation and $0 for the touch slide. Wait a month and pay tmo 400 for changing my plan to the value family 1000 that $79 a and re-up my conteract for two yrs.
The differance in the two plans is $40X24=960
I gave tmo 100 for the phones and 400 for the EFT so I'm out 500.
So i either got two NEW phones for 500, Maybe even cheaper then craiglist.
Or I save 460 over 24 months.
The Very Simple Math
960-500=460
What Am I missing.

Orange upgrades???

Orange Upgrades...
what do they offer on top (e.g. extra minutes), or am I better off looking in Carphone Warehouse or other networks etc.
I have had a £35/month contact (with a £50 SPV M3100) and just realised I'm 5 weeks from the end. My dad's been using the SIM as I have a better contract with 3 and will let him carry on using it but keep any new phone, I also do not want to change number (it will be inconvenient porting from contract to contract across networks).
Never upgraded before-always had 12 month contracts, moved on before the chance to upgrade came.
Any advice?
Initially I chose Orange over T-Mobile as I was at a new house and their Broadband was free/£5 with a good contract, but I grew tired as it was not actually 'unlimited' and was too slow and now use Be Broadband.
I don't really like any of their current phones though, I have a Viewty and K850i (plan to sell one of them) and don't like the Touch Diamond. Nothing they have is truly better than even the K850i (which I use with a 8gb microSD).
Has anyone had any positive encounters with them in the past?
i managed to get a trinity on upgrade last year on dolphin 35 with a 10 pound discount, so i get 600 mins, unlimited texts and now with the new data package i get 'unlimited' data, plus 3 magic numbers all for 25 squid a month. although thats a 18 month contract.
im looking to get a diamond on the same tarrif soon

Need opinions!!

I have a TILT , great phone , for xmas i bought the fuze on premier and got it for free(added a line) , now my dad decided hes staying with sprint i now have two options , return the phone and have the one line removed , or keep it(it is the phone i want to upgrade to) and just convert the lines to family talk and keep him on for an additional 9.99(and give the additional line to a friend that cannot afford cellphone service?).so what do you say should i keep it or return it?
just keep it, "tis the season" right?
my opinion is sell the Fuze, get it unlocked and sell it on ebay for $500 or so, take the money pay the ETF and use the rest toward the Sprint Touch Pro on your dads plan... only if its cheaper to go on sprint with your dad, if its not cheaper per month i say keep the phone and give the line to someone that can atleast afford $10 a month
It is cheaper to go on sprint with my dad buuuuuut i hate sprint , the service isnt as good but the plus side is there plans are cheap data is cheap my only gripe against ATT is i think there prices of their plans could be a little better for example tmobile , tmobile has unlimited data for pdas for 20 and for berries for 20 , i wish att had this id be estatic.Besides we have the entire family on sprint i dont think he needs another , also when i told him my secret xmas plan he told me he was happy with his rumor and that getting the phone isnt a need its more of a want and that he would deal with what he had.So instead of a phone for xmas he has requested computer parts to further prolong the life of his computer. As far as pricing goes to keep the second line it would be
40 for 550 minutes unlimited nights and weekends both lines
25 data for my line
20 unlimited texting (my line)
10 dollars for the additional line
plus tax you figure 100 bucks (My bill is already 100-103 every month) why not?
To save money i could always reduce my texting package or see if i can finagle getting media max unlimited places on my plan(its a *****)
which would be for 35 unlimted data+texting. However media max unlimited is for "normal phones" and not pda phones even though both plans use the same gateway to connect to the internet(medianet not isp) If im not mistaken i could be wrong . So we have 1 for yay and for a maybe if other deciding factors!
wait 30 days and pay the ETF for the new line
Keep the phone and put your SIM in it
Umm, if your older than 18, just put it in your name with att, take over service and smile.
the account is in my name both lines are under me

[Q] T-Mobile Upgrade Discounts?

I currently have a one year contract with T-Mobile. It is going to end on October 11, 2010.
I am wondering if I can get a discount on the a phone (I am hoping to get the T-Mobile G2 or even the Vibrant)
If I can't get a decent discount price off, If I sign up for a brand new 2-yr contract, will I be able to pay the 2-yr plan price (like if I was going to sign up for T-Mobile for the first time.) The G2 will be priced around $200.
Also will I be able to turn my old phone in for a discount also? (My current phone is in my signature. If I can turn it in for a discount, I will put it back to 100% stock.)
Thanks for your answers.
Bumb-Just to make sure that it will be seen.
Don't be fooled by T-Mobiles Discounts...

I was hoping to make this it's on thread but for some reason it won't post, came across your thread and saw how it applies to your question, hopefully the info is not to late for you:
I see lots of people in the IRC yesterday morning discussing the price of admission on the T-Mobile G2. Since I can't figure out how to post on the IRC with Android IRC for my G2 I'll post what would have gone there here, in the hopes that I can save a few of you a little money.
Please bear in mind that these are my opinions and there may be something I am missing.
T-Mobiles Contracts are complete and total rubbish when it comes to a phone upgrade, and here's why:
The average difference between a T-mobile contract and corresponding Month to Month plan price for an individual with unlimited Data is $20. With the month to month being the cheaper of the two...
What's $20 buck extra a month for $300 bucks off the phone you ask?
Let me tell you....
@ $20/mo extra for 2 years that is $480, the G2's retail price is $500 uhh you just payed full price for that phone.. but wait there's more:
Add to that $480 the $200 you just spent for your "discounted" upgrade for extending your contract for 2yrs and that cost jumps to $680.
That's nearly $700 bucks for a $500 phone.
Here's the break down....
::::::::::::::::::::::Month to month Costs:::::::::::::::::::
G2 down payment = $200
Interest free financing = $300 over 20 months @ approx $15 per month
Total Phone Cost = $500
::::::::::::::::::::::Month to month Costs:::::::::::::::::::
::::::::::::::::::::::2yr Contract Costs::::::::::::::::::::::
Phone upgrade discounted price = $200
Contract monthly cost Difference = $20/mo. = $480
Total Phone Cost = $680
::::::::::::::::::::::2yr Contract Costs::::::::::::::::::::::
So your reward for being a loyal T-mobile customer and extending your contract for 2 more years is paying full price for the phone + $150.
Doesn't exactly exude the warm and fuzzy feeling of being a valued customer does it?
TO THE MOD: I couldn't post this in it's own Thread I kept getting a message about not allowing outside links on new users, if you could copy this to it's own thread or tell me what I'm doing wrong I'd appreciate it! thanks in advance!

[Q] T-Mobile Users: Contract Question/Details

Hey guys,
There's one thing I don't quite understand about both this forum and the T-Mobile forum that I'd like some clarification on. I typically see blocks of text from members similar to the following:
Well, I like my Nexus One a lot, but I find myself using my Vibrant on Wednesdays and my G2 on the weekend. I think I'll pick up a myTouch HD when it comes out too for giggles.

My question is: are you people throwing down out of contract prices for all of these phones or am I woefully ignorant of a better channel for buying them?
Just searching around today I've seen multiple people with a Nexus One and a Vibrant, and all I can think to myself is "Surely they didn't spend $1000 on phones..."
Also, as an aside, I noticed the differences between T-Mobiles Even More and Even More Plus plans, which seems to be $20 a month. I'm guessing if I did go with a G2 or a Vibrant under contract that my monthly bill would go up by $20 a month? Or, does that only matter on a new contract rather than an upgrade?
Some of them buy the phones new, off of e-bay or get them as testers. The difference in the even more and even more plus have to do with the phone discount. The cheaper plan you pay outright for the phone. To recieve the discounted phone price you pay the extra $20 a month.
Just talked to a rep today and looked at my plan more. I think I'm going to go for the Even More Plus 500. Right now I'm at loyalty unlimited with 1000 texts, but I'm only using around 300 anytime minutes and 100 texts. Going for the Even More Plus 500 keeps me at $60 a month.
If I factor in $20 a month more on my current plan under contract it means I'd be paying $480 + cost of phone over the lifetime, so it sounds like it's better off contract.
That aside, anyone else want to chip in on where they get their phones? Particularly people with 2-3 current Android devices?

[Q] Looking at getting 2 these Phones, on Tmo Value Plan

So i want 2 Touch Slide 4G, but on the value plan tmo whats you to pay retail for the phone and that's like $1000. Here's my work around.... No not craigslist, Go to best buy get the the classic family 1000 with data and txting it's comes out to $119 a month for the two lines. Pay $0 for the 2 phones at best buy. The differance in the two plans is $40X24=960
I gave tmo 0 for the phones and 400 for the EFT so I'm out 400.
I paid a month at 119 Add 40 thats the differeance for one month.
So i either got two NEW phones for 440, Maybe even cheaper then craiglist.
Or I save 560 over 24 months.
The Very Simple Math
960-400+40=520
What Am I missing. Have I overlooked something. Has anyone tried something like this

i got 2 line value plans last month and i didnt like paying full price for the phones but i am pretty sure u cant pay to switch ur CONTRACT so just get the value plans and pay full price
I could be mistaken, but I thought that on the Value Plan you paid the subsidized cost up front and they pro rated the balance by adding the remaining cost to your bill. Call TMo to be sure, or find a company store (not a franchise).
