Favorite Replacement Apps - HTC Sensation

So I'm thinking my about moving to CM7 once it becomes more stable, and was wondering what people have been using for their keyboards, dialers, and cameras. These are the features that I found that were lacking a little in terms of functionality.
I stumbled across the GO EX dialer, contacts, and keyboard today while browsing the market and really like them. What have you guys been using and would recommend?
Sent from my HTC Sensation

Go contacts ex is an excellent choice. Haven't find a better dialer.
For the camera, the miui camera is a little nicer and more stable than the default one but it's still not as flash as the sense one. Keyboard I use thumb keyboard.

Go Keyboard & Weather, QuickPic is way better than the default gallery, Handsent SMS, Business Calendar & Battery Circle, Ring Scheduler to automatically change profiles....

Thanks guys, excellent recommendations so far! Keep 'em coming!

Back on my Milestone I always used UltraKeyboard, which has been updated to v6.0 recently and seems to have been enhanced. I now prefer the HTC-Stock-Keyboard, so I haven't tested UK v6.0 very much, though.

SwiftKey x is an awesome keyboard. You can try the free version for 1 month before deciding to buy it.

Swype, the best keyboard imo (I'm using it right now)

I definitely recommend touchpal dialer, it is just like the HTC dialer.

[Q] looking for two app's

I am looking for recommendations for a new keyboard app seeing the Android KB is gone after 2.2 on SGS vibrant.
Also looking for a good time tracking app for recording my time spent on projects at work, it would be great if I could email the file to myself for inserting into Excel.
For the keyboard, try out the Gingerbread keyboard. Its pretty good and it supports multitouch

SwiftKey is another good keyboard, available in the Market. After you've used it for a while you'll swear it's become clairvoyant...
i m using smart keyboard pro. it has lot of options and many skins.

Best Dialer

I'm looking for a great dialer. Not crazy about stock dialer. Love the dialer HTC sense uses. I have a nexus 1 with cm7. Would love the feedback. Would love the ability to just type numbers or letters to find quick contacts. Also. Would love sleek look with different themes if possible.

Go to the Market and try TouchPal This thing is one awesome Dialer, I use this and prefer it over the stock dialer which I think is total crap. Give this one a try I dont think you'll be disappointed.
Thanks. I like it. Thanks for feedback. Very nice. Good lookng out

Dialer One is another good dialer IMO if you want to try a few
GO contacts all day

Best keyboard app

What's the best keyboard app (best meaning least amount of bugs and no complaints) specifically for the G2X?
To be honest man i say just stick to the stock keyboard. I've tried several on the Market and well i just don't see what the big hype is. It lags, it misspells, and they try to add like all these feautures that just causes you to misspell things and all that good stuff...
i say stock
I'm not a huge Swype fan so I've been looking around at different keyboards to make my typing more comfortable. I'm currently settled on the TouchPal keyboard. I loved this keyboard back in my WM6.0 days with my HTC Touch and I do enjoy the new version they have updated for Android.
A classic one I always trust is Smart Keyboard Pro.
It'll cost you a pretty penny, but it does its job very well.
It's a classic tap-tap-tap keyboard (meaning, no fancy swiping).
It looks great, it sounds great, it is great.
Customizable sound setting: iPhone / Android / Galaxy
Very customizable, and has many languages available.

Agreed! I'm using this one myself. You can get the free version in the market and test it out!
I really like Smart Keyboard pro. But I've just started using the free gingerbread keyboard on the market, very responsive and fast
Im a HUGE fan of swiftkey's new beta, SwiftKey X. Responsive, good prediction, and easy on memory.
How is 32 mb easy on the memory compared to the 5 or 10 mb from others?

I prefer better keyboard 8, I've never had any issues with it and the themes are slick.

Ill have to agree..stock is always the stable way to go

I've been using SwiftKey, it's such an awesome keyboard that saves you a lot of touches. It's prediction of the next word is really good, definitely my go to. You have to force yourself to use it for like two days before you get the hang of it

i gotta second Swiftkey or Swiftkey X worth the price of admission!
Smart keyboard!

+1 for SwiftKey
I also have to recommend Swiftkey. I've used the Froyo, the Gingerbread, Better Keyboard (both versions), and Swype. Hands down, Swiftkey is the best simply because it remembers your past conversations and predicts what you are about to say before you say it. Hell, it practically tells you what say! I love it.
I've purchased and used Smart Keyboard Pro for months, but now use Hacker's Keyboard from the Market on my G2x and ASUS Transformer. I use ConnectBot frequently and need Ctl/Alt/Esc keys.
+1 for swiftkey
Also before you buy this app make sure you have alot of text messages on your phone. The more the better...reaosn is because swiftkey reads and learns your typing pattern for word prediction.
I use better keyboard 8, i like it because i can make it take up more of the screen so the keys are bigger but i would like to see someone port the new htc trace that comes with the sensation since i like htc ime and its basically htc ime but u can also use it like swype
Do you want your keyboard to focus on stability/accuracy, typing speed, or breath of features?
If you want stability, use stock.
If you want speed, use Swype.
If you want features, use Swiftkey.
Me, I use Keyboard Manager so when I'm in portrait I have Swype and when I'm in landscape I have Stock. I'd rather use Swiftkey in landscape, but swiftkey and keyboard manager don't play well together.
Stock Gingerbread keyboard ...

Who here besides me would want a PURE Gingerbread ROM?

Pure stock gingerbread....no themes, no weird fonts, no extras. Just pure gingerbread running on the sensation. I would absolutely LOVE this. Am I the only one? I'm not familiar with CM7....is that pure gingerbread?
I too want just a pure stock one. NO FOOLIES!
me too would love it
+1, but I would also use CM

Working on it.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
CM7 is basically stock but enhanced with new, improved features and settings. Like new lockscreens built into the ROM, profiles (so you can have a work and a home profile, for example, with different settings on each), a new kernel, better performance overall. For more info, go here.
www.cyanogenmod.com
Would love a pure AOSP rom with only a few additions like volumerocker music-controll and a optimised kernel.
When I still had my Nexus S i used Oxygen by Adam_G, fastest Rom i ever used.
I would like a GB ROM as well to have the option. But I'm runningthe non sense ROM and it combines a good mix of sense and stock gb. I still like sense because of the dialer and the magnifying copy and paste like on ios. But everythingelse on my phone is stock GB like the lockscreen, keyboard, and launcher . It's a good mix
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
That would be awesome, something nice and simple, and super.fast!
Sent from my (S-OFF)HTC Sensation Z710e using (LeeDroid) & XDA App
I would love a stock rom that had all the bloatware removed.
CM7 feels like a pure Gingerbread ROM, but with an extra option in settings that gives more power-user options. Different types of lockscreens (Gesture, rotary, normal), clock speed, force-move applications to sd card, volume enhancements, profiles, themes for status bar (and battery % inside the battery icon). There aren't many visual changes from ASOP (Unlike Sense or MIUI). (It's what I want to run)
I think there are some good features in sense 3 but still prefer stock gb. However if we could have gb with sense copy paste and modified sense lock screen it would be really nice. Ppl love the sense dialer but i seriously prefer stock dialer.

Gpc had a great Rom running on the HD2 maybe he will jump over to the sensation now that we have s-off
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
just a rom with OC/UV and voodoo audio/video and no bloatware is all we need... i can deal with sense 3.0 because thats what i've used on the sensation4g since day 1 (first android phone).
+1000
Would be great to have vanilla android for the Sensation. You can make it look like Sense, I just like AOSP better.
Give me barebones CM7 or give me death.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
+1, but I would also use CM or MIUI ROM
Stock/Pure Gingerbread is overated.
Just because there are this and that you don't like about Sense doesn't make stock Gingerbread great. Once you start using stock Gingerbread you will start hating Google for not implementing this simple thing and that easy tweak, and you would want more.
If you don't like Sense, or are not satisfy with the speed with Sense, go get CM7 (when it is available on the Sensation) and don't bother with stock Gingerbread.
I would love ASOP Gingerbread cant wait til i get one of those roms =]
hell if i could just get better than 9-10 hours of use out of the damn phone with stock battery i would be happy... (yeah i send 200+ texts per day) plus surf alot

That's the problem isn't it. You have to decide whether you want the pretty UI of Sense, or the speed and battery life of CM7. Or you could try to find a Sense ROM that has the battery life of CM7. Have you tried BinDroid? I tried that recently and was getting 48 hours out of a charge. There are two versions. A partially themed 2.3.5 version, and a fully themed 2.3.3 version.
Unfortunately you'll never get any Sense dialer/contacts running on a non-Sense ROM.
I keep coming back to Sense. Sure CM7 is slicker than a buttered weasel, but no one is batter at the Dialer, Contacts, Clock, Calendar etc than HTC.
Dialler one is good replacement for sense dialler
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
In my opinion Email, Calendar and Dialer apps from Sense 2.1 look bad. They are polished in Sense 3.0 but instead of Dialer I still use GO Contacts Ex. You will try it and never get back to stock one.
I recommend ex dialer
And for messaging go sms pro is the best
Ex Dialer is good... Thanks!
I am a fan of Go SMS Pro, however the recent update only does a back up and restore to the cloud!
I wonder , Why did they have to remove the backup and restore to the SD card option? :banghead:
Sent from my HTC Desire S.
Just use sms backup and restore

I love the sense contacts; till now I did not find a proper replacement for it even after trying all kinds of contact apps. One problem I see mainly is they can never completely replace the built-in dialer & phonebook they keep poping up in some scenarios even after wasting making the new app default. This results in RAM wastage.
