Pure stock gingerbread....no themes, no weird fonts, no extras. Just pure gingerbread running on the sensation. I would absolutely LOVE this. Am I the only one? I'm not familiar with CM7....is that pure gingerbread?
I too want just a pure stock one. NO FOOLIES!

CM7 is basically stock but enhanced with new, improved features and settings. Like new lockscreens built into the ROM, profiles (so you can have a work and a home profile, for example, with different settings on each), a new kernel, better performance overall. For more info, go here.

Would love a pure AOSP rom with only a few additions like volumerocker music-controll and a optimised kernel.
When I still had my Nexus S i used Oxygen by Adam_G, fastest Rom i ever used.
I would like a GB ROM as well to have the option. But I'm runningthe non sense ROM and it combines a good mix of sense and stock gb. I still like sense because of the dialer and the magnifying copy and paste like on ios. But everythingelse on my phone is stock GB like the lockscreen, keyboard, and launcher . It's a good mix

That would be awesome, something nice and simple, and super.fast!

I would love a stock rom that had all the bloatware removed.
CM7 feels like a pure Gingerbread ROM, but with an extra option in settings that gives more power-user options. Different types of lockscreens (Gesture, rotary, normal), clock speed, force-move applications to sd card, volume enhancements, profiles, themes for status bar (and battery % inside the battery icon). There aren't many visual changes from ASOP (Unlike Sense or MIUI). (It's what I want to run)
I think there are some good features in sense 3 but still prefer stock gb. However if we could have gb with sense copy paste and modified sense lock screen it would be really nice. Ppl love the sense dialer but i seriously prefer stock dialer.

Would be great to have vanilla android for the Sensation. You can make it look like Sense, I just like AOSP better.

Stock/Pure Gingerbread is overated.
Just because there are this and that you don't like about Sense doesn't make stock Gingerbread great. Once you start using stock Gingerbread you will start hating Google for not implementing this simple thing and that easy tweak, and you would want more.
If you don't like Sense, or are not satisfy with the speed with Sense, go get CM7 (when it is available on the Sensation) and don't bother with stock Gingerbread.
I would love ASOP Gingerbread cant wait til i get one of those roms =]
hell if i could just get better than 9-10 hours of use out of the damn phone with stock battery i would be happy... (yeah i send 200+ texts per day) plus surf alot

I justed wanted to know everyones opinions. Which ROM fits you best, a Sense Based ROM or, a AOSP Based ROM(Cyanogenmod for example). Please leave your comments and opinions on WHY it is better than the other!!!
Cyanogen is cool and stable the most stable probably. No fc's no reboots as long as run there stable versions your guaranteed stability. And hella long battery life. Especially if run a setcpu profile along with it.
I love Cyanogenmod also. I'm going with Sense Based Roms though because of the great things that HTC incorporated into the Rom. Myn's RLS 5 for the win!

but I always keep a back up mikfroyo
cm is awesome .. But not really on my list (maybe if I knew how to get it to work on cricket)
what I look for is battery life first
and .. Of course it must be stable
sense or asop doesn't matter to me because as long as I can use it all day long without the fc's ..
I always use a cool launcher like go, unless I am using miui .. Then I am good to go enuff sed
I would move over to CM but Myns RLS 5 is just "Oh So Sweet." If I could just find a red themed gingerbread notify bar, I would be SET FOR LIFE!!!

and i like it because of the actual launcher and runs higher quadrant scores.
I like pure gingerbread, but i think i may miss the cm7 settings, some i use, also i miss HTC widgets and camera, etc, but i cant stand sense anymore.
Anyone have recomendations on ROMS, or CM7 Flavours/Mods?

So I'm doing some research on my next phone (currently rocking a Droid Incredible 1) and it will either be the HTC Vigor or the Nexus Prime. I'm leaning towards the Nexus Prime, but I love Sense, so I just want to make sure that there are people out there who create Sense based ROMs for the Nexus devices.
So are there any stable Sense based ROMs for the Nexus S?
No sense no thanks. You buy a nexus for the AOSP experience. If you want sense buy a htc phone.

Sense based rom ran into some hurdles, plus it's harder cuz unlike the nexus 1 it doesn't share the same hardware as an HTC phone...
For the Prime, we'd have to wait for a similar phone running ics, gingerbread might not run too well on it...

Ahh this makes the decision so much more difficult. I was pretty much set on getting the Prime because I figured it'd be an easy swap to put a custom sense ROM on it.
I really want to have the latest and greatest (ICS), but I also love my sense features (lockscreen, beautiful widgets, beautiful animations, etc)
what to do, what to do....
Yeah Rem3Dy said it all, but to throw my 2 cents in.
If you want a phone running Sense you should stick to HTC phones that come pre loaded with it. Ports can be cool, but it's hard to rely on them everyday as a daily driver they all tend to have their issues. From what I was hearing before leaving the EVO 4G forums, HTC should be developing a web app for consumers to unlock boot loaders in the future, so you shouldn't have to wait for exploits to enjoy root privileges on future phones.
Now if you want a pure Google Experience device then you should look into the Nexus line of phones. This is the way Google envisions Android and in my opinion, it's the best way to enjoy it. The Nexus line always has the latest and greatest with software updates direct from Google. This means when new versions are released we don't have to wait for manufacturers to upgrade their UI to to work with the current version of Android, no wondering when or if our device will ever even get the upgrade.
So if Sense is a deal breaker for you, you should probably stick with HTC. If you're intrigues by the Nexus Prime, wait till it hits stores and go check one out, I doubt you'll be let down.

Sense sucks balls, big time. It was the reason I rooted and flashed aosp on my Evo. Most htc owners try to get away from sense, and you want to install it on a Nexus??
However we like SEnse or not (I don't personaly, and sure thing is if you have a Nexus "something" is for experiencing the pure Android), it has been said several times by several great devs that it won't be possible to port any Sense like launcher on the NS.....
You can always install Launcher Pro Plus which has very similar widgets to HTC Sense. ADW is another popular launcher as well.
It's not just the widgets, but the sense 3.0 lock screen is one of my favorites!

While I mostly agree, I need to correct some things....no offense.
Virtuous isn't AOSP, it's an AOSP "experience" based off sense base. True AOSP right now is Opensensation which is (CM9).....also as listed in your last suggestion cm9 (opensensation) isn't that customizable right now.
Also, while many suggest to try them for yourself......to someone who just rooted their new sensation, this can be a long process, with plenty of time consuming reading and configurations....
So I think it's best to offer the OP a starting point:
Pure stock like sense (3.6) - ARHD
Pure Stock like Sense (4.0) - Don't know if there is one, most I've tried are too laggy, and have too many bugs....but try any one to get the feel...maybe Coindroid
Pure AOSP - Opensensation (I don't even notice the bugs as listed)
Pure MIUI - There isn't one
- MIUI.us and MIUI android are based off sense base
- UltimiuIcs is based off AOSP, but developer is finishing exams
Given the above, they offer a starting point (with MIUI and sense 4.0 a starting point just to see what it's about) IMO, I'd wait for MIUI AOSP based if you like that, and wait for bug free sense 4.0 if you like that.
The rest of the roms, sense and AOSP are just variations on the starting points above.....with some being tiny, tiny visual variations (the rest under the hood), and others quite a few modifications.
As far as my onions:
- I find sense too laggy, I mean our phones can handle it....but of you want battery life, your gonna have lag.
- I recently moved to Opensensation, and can't even compare the speed....even underclocked, undervolted....while I do miss some sense features, they don't even compare to the speed.
- I recently tried "eyecandy" AOKP, based off AOSP....and there is a lot of tweakability and theming works as I'm sure more will be available.
As far as kernels.....if running sense, I'd use bricked, if running AOSP, use stock kernel with rom, or faux kernel.
Hope that helps for a starting point....and NANDROID...NANDROID!
That way you can easily revert back if you don't like one or get into trouble.
Cheers!

Hi all
I'm very torn as to which ROM I stay on.
I've been switching between Viper ROM & CM10. Both are awesome ROMs but I can't decide which I prefer more.
I really like the integration that sense gives you over AOSP but can't get away from the fact that CM 10 is giving amazing battery life.
If anyone can steer me in any direction I'd appreciate it.

Nobody can really make the descision for you. You need to decide which is more important for you, good intergration of apps, or better battery life? After that, it's an easy choice to make.
I really like both for those reasons, back on viper again now will probably check CMX soon

Go with one and commit to it. It's like when you're dating two girls at once, and they're both great, but eventually you have to pick one or the other. You're playing with their emotions. Do you want the bust y blonde in sense, or the amazing personality brunette with maybe some aesthetic flaws? You just have to tell one to take a hike and go all in with the other. Pimp out CM10, enjoy Sense 4s beauty, whatever.
For me, I'm a CM10 guy even though sense is much better for organizational purposes right of the bat. But the thing is, I can organize just fine with CM10, just takes a little more customization.

Sense just feels more fluid and connected. For example, clock weather widget, tap on the time and it takes you straight to alarm clock, timer, stop watch. Tap the weather and you get the forecast.
To achieve the same on an AOSP Rom, needed to find a clock widget (fancy sense) then a timer and stop watch app, then a weather app and then set the widget up to open the secondary apps.

My whole life I've used AOSP until about 2 months ago. With sense I feel the phone is just more intact, by that I mean stuff just works. Like the kernel has no hacks or whatever, all the libs are there, all the kernel codes, hardware and software seem to cooperate more. I personally feel the sensation was meant to run sense, despite not liking the aesthetic look, everything is fluid and works wonderful
