That's the problem isn't it. You have to decide whether you want the pretty UI of Sense, or the speed and battery life of CM7. Or you could try to find a Sense ROM that has the battery life of CM7. Have you tried BinDroid? I tried that recently and was getting 48 hours out of a charge. There are two versions. A partially themed 2.3.5 version, and a fully themed 2.3.3 version.
Unfortunately you'll never get any Sense dialer/contacts running on a non-Sense ROM.
I keep coming back to Sense. Sure CM7 is slicker than a buttered weasel, but no one is batter at the Dialer, Contacts, Clock, Calendar etc than HTC.

Dialler one is good replacement for sense dialler

In my opinion Email, Calendar and Dialer apps from Sense 2.1 look bad. They are polished in Sense 3.0 but instead of Dialer I still use GO Contacts Ex. You will try it and never get back to stock one.

I recommend ex dialer
And for messaging go sms pro is the best

Ex Dialer is good... Thanks!
I am a fan of Go SMS Pro, however the recent update only does a back up and restore to the cloud!
I wonder , Why did they have to remove the backup and restore to the SD card option? :banghead:

Just use sms backup and restore

I have never used Ex dialer.... but I can vouch for go contacts its smooth, has many themes... give it a try...

If you are looking for a mail app, I would recommend

I love the sense contacts; till now I did not find a proper replacement for it even after trying all kinds of contact apps. One problem I see mainly is they can never completely replace the built-in dialer & phonebook they keep poping up in some scenarios even after wasting making the new app default. This results in RAM wastage.

[Q] G2x + Sense 3.0 features ... is that even possible ?

Hey guys,
I was just wondering if some of the sense 3.0 widgets can be developed for G2x?? Atleast the sense 3.0 lock screen. Is it anyway possible or on the cards or should i stop dreaming ??

Its great to dream, but in this case you should stop dreaming. The G2x and sense roms has 2 different framework so it will never work and even if it could it would take tons of modding that wouldn't be worth the trouble. Its similar to trying to put a Ferrari body on a Mercedes chassis.

There's a app called "Go To Lockscreen" and it pretty much gives you the features of the Sense lock screen. Its a good app.

im not sure if you wanted sense for the same reason i did. i wanted sense for the dialer + messaging client. althought we probably wont get the sense dialer, there is an app called GO Dialer, and GO Sms that is similar to the sense applications. Stock android dialer SUCKS! anyways hope this helps

The lock screen, dialer, messaging client and contacts client are the only good things about Sense. The vanilla clients are boring with less features. What's cool about the Sense contacts client is that contact pictures are just there with no loading. The vanilla contact client lags a little bit and there is a delay in showing the pictures.

Sense has some neat stuff but most of it is cosmetic.
Launcher Pro already has some Sense-like widgets built in and are themeable. They look like Sense out of the box. You can also customize Launcher Pro's dock bar to match any version of Sense.
Go Dialer and Go SMS are popular because you can theme them to look like whatever you want. I've also used "Dialer One" which was a "HTC SENSE Dialer" Clone at one time. I think they've went down their own path since but still has the same great functionality.
Moral of the story, you can make you phone look and feel like a Stock-Sense rom without having the stock-sense rom.
And I think they're porting Sense over in the O2x forums (directed at the second poster). MIUI, Sense, and CM7 are the 3 roms that should be ported to every phone. Completely do-able though. Nexus One has all 3.... but maybe I was spoiled.
It was possible on my hd2 windows phone. So I would say yes, it is possible. That phone had a much bigger following so I will not say it is propable.

as things have been said, launcherpro, GoTo LockScreen, things like that can give the customized feeling of not being on stock android...
I think the problem is we are on a LG phone trying to port a HTC client, Samsung Galaxy series never got it to work fully, just my opinion. I am not saying it is not possible, I am one that loves options and would like to see it happen though.

You can find software that looks like Sense such as Go Messenger but there is no contacts client out there with the deep integration/features you get with Sense. The Contacts Client is the only thing I like about HTC and I have yet to see one done better. Just ain't going to happen.

New ROM idea!!!

So I see we have a great line up of roms here for our phones but I have yet to see a combo of CM7 & sense. I mean cm7 had its benefits but so does sense why not make the best of both world? Anyways just trying to introduce a new idea. Also sorry if this is in the Wong section.

No not it the wrong place. Let me try to answer this. It is kinda impossible because they are 2 totally different frameworks. Everything about them us different all the way down to the kernel. You can't necessarily merge the two. You can run senselike widgets on cm7. And you can take the sense out of sense roms but keep the contacts and what people do like about it. But it would be like combining a reptile with a mammal. They are just way too different all the way down and can't be mashed together.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4g using xda premium
Agreed ^
The framework is just too different. SystemUI files are going to cause a conflict if not the framework.
I think everyone have up on this idea back in the Hero days. There's a project called OpenSense, but I don't know anything about it.

What I meant is modding CM7 to have the ring lockscreen and recently open apps etc. maybe even add the launcher

Lockscreen, launcher, and every other element is heavily dependent on the sense framework.
If you change all the frameworks, the rom is no longer CM7 ... its sense

Easy.
Widget Locker has a "Sense 3" Slider what is a exact clone of the Sense 3 lockscreen, complete with all the animations.
As for Launcher, you can try GO Launcher(use Go Weather for the clock as well)

Removing HTC Sense

ARHD 6.5.1XE
Sense 3.6
Version 4.0.3
Ok, pretty sure I rooted the phone properly(no problems at all, besides battery) and did all the right wipes and what not, just too noob to detail it the right way.
Have tried to calibrate the battery to no avail. Used Current Widget, waited till 0 mA then deleted batterystats.bin with root explorer...also tried it using battery calibration app.
So, my next guess is Sense. I have read its a battery hog...how exactly do I remove it? And will that effect my one gmail account? I also don't use the Sense FB or Twitter, I use the offical apps...not sure if those work without sense either...

Anybody?

The battery drainer is sense account.. Not sense launcher
If you have htc sense account just remove it
To check for it
Go to settings-accounts and sync
If there is htc sense account there just delete the account. It's a hella battery drainer
To remove sense launcher .. There is an easy way.. Just use another launcher..
Apex launcher, go ex launcher Or any other

Try this aosp mod,it will remove sense from ur phone. before doing anything make a backup of ur phone and have 4ext recovery..
Link Here to the Post
I would also encourage you to just use a different launcher and remove the Sense account. The Sense camera, contacts, and lockscreen are far superior to stock.
I'm running OrDroid w/ Sense 4.0 on my Sensation and get great battery life.

see my previous post in this same thread for removing sense account.
for launchers
i found nova launcher and apex launcher equally good (just down load the apps and run them )
So I looked under accounts and sync and I actually don't even have a Sense account synced...only my gmail, FB, Twitter, and Weather. I'm not exactly sure what you all who say the sense launcher are talking about...but I do know I have 4ext recovery. Anyways...I can't figure this battery out at all...Spare Parts shows HTC Sense on the very top in my usage statistics...and on my battery history graph it shows a near complete solid bar on Awake, even when screen is off...but my battery has only been in 50 min since last reboot. I stopped using this phone a few days b/c the battery life issue. Perhaps I need to hang around a battery thread and post some screen shots to get help

I'd try a senseless rom, ie virtuous or hypernonsense.

If you want to remove Sense, you have to root and install a custom ROM.
I like this ICS Rom, and I don't want to lose a lot of the features it has, particularly the stock camera. It claims to have great battery life. I think I just have to get to the bottom of it, then I'll be happy. But the current battery life makes it almost useless when I am away from home.

HTC ONE X+ Android 4.2

I find stable android 4.2 to my htc one x+. At first - I install rom from maxwell. AOSP 4.2 - 0.1b. Great rom, but battery is ill. Wi-fi is off, mobile data is on, gps and I.t.c. is off. Screen is off all day. From 6am to 9pm -from 100% I have 7%. CM10.1 is better for it, but it have unworkable tourch and I can't use all my widgets in lockscreen(I can't fond it). I want senseless rom. Please help
I know my answer isnt what youre looking for exactly but what ive done to my phone is flash ARHD rom then i installed Nova launcher ( you can use any othet launcher that you like) and then through titanium backup uninstalled sense from the phone. Maybe this will be a good substitute for you.

Thank you. I trying it, but I can't remove all sense, and can't replace sms, lockscreen etc. Now cm10.1 - not bad. And, htc haven't 4,2 roms

Best free widgets for AOSP

As per title really, I'm thinking of switching to AOSP Rom as I fancy a change, but last time I tried it I missed the sense widgets, mainly clock/weather and calender.
I've had a look on the play store but don't want to buy one if I cab get better/free.
So, if you don't use sense, what widgets do you use?
Also, I've mainly kept sense as everything I've read suggests the HTC camera app is the best. Is this still the case? Any suggestions of other apps if I go AOSP?
Many thanks

I use the app fancy Widgets, it is free, and in my opinions looks better than the sense one. Try and see.
