[MOD] Volume Button Wakeup Screen for Sense Roms [For ROM Cookers] - HTC Desire S

I have been looking for this kind of Mod for a While...
Using Power button to wake up Phone is sometimes uncomfortable to reach when u have a grip around Phone..
Moreover too much use of Power button can cause Power button issues... or may give up after a long time or may become hard to press with time..or loose its chrome finish...
I know there are applications like Unlock etc that will skip unlock screen but who wold wanna skip that Cool Sense Lock screen?
This Mod will not UNLOCK your Screen.. Just wakes it up... u will still get the Sense Lock screen...
Here is the TIP:
1. Extract KeyguardViewMediator.smali from android.policy.jar and Open with Notepad.
2. Scroll down and find ".method private isWakeKeyWhenKeyguardShowing(I)Z".
3. Delete 0x18 and 0x19 lines. Save
4. Repack
Dont forget to give Credits..
Hit Thanks if it was Helpful

This probably is an inactive section with No feedbacks...
I guess modding ends here...

What changes did you make exactly to the jar file?
Also the cdroid file, which rom version is it from?

just enabled it to volume wakeup....
Would you guys try it and let me know if it works or not??
its not gonna brick ur phone..... If its not working upload jar file from stock 2.3.3 or 2.3.5... I will make it to work...
But yeah looking at feedback I guess its not gonna happen

Im interested in it but id like to know in terms of learning what smali file you edited to what exactly? I guess you added an extra line to include vol keys.
Just trying to learn..
Its a good mod imho, should be included in custom roms as standard. I think leedroid has it in his roms

But I edited KeyguardViewMediator.smali extracted from jar file and removed two lines from it using notepad that were preventing volume keys when display is turned off...

Thankyou, that was very kind of you. There are some outthere who just dont share (you know who you are )

ty for this too I`m looking for this for a looong time. So if I`m extracting files from .jar inside my rom and edit KeyguardViewMediator.smali will do the work without anything else?
edit: I made a comparison of you`r KeyguardViewMediator.smali and mine and they are different in too many strings I can`t just use yours (your file has 116 KB and mine has 114 KB)

now is better

This is awesome dude!!! Unfortunately didnt work perfect in RCMix3d Runny S v1.5.1 that im using. Disabled few RcMix Tweaks example honeycomb lockscreen, and when i pressed power button to open up boot options, it show "Messages" in where it supposed to show "Power Off"

[REQUEST] Phone.apk theme

Yeah... I know it's something simple. I'm trying to edit the .png files but 7zip won't update what I've done when I'm finished. Plus I'm a hell of a lot more confident in others here than I am myself. I can't just push the phone.apk from that theme, can I? That seems far too simple.
what rom are you running now? ill see what I can do.

Gumbo 1.5c Bare. I think that'll look really good with the DarkStar theme. I switched back to 1.5 just so I can use that theme. I love it!
Thanks, bro. I really appreciate it.
What would happen if I were to just push the phone.apk? It's just a bunch of .png & 9.png files...
I started to do the same thing awhile back but never quite finished. our dialer buttons were in htccontacts.apk if i remember right
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614830 might help someone.
they are actually in both if you just change contacts then it changes the main dialer but if you go to enter in numbers while in a call then it is still stock to it needs to be both.
ok here ya go the dark star dialer just flash like any other update.

not a problem I shouldnt have to tell to you to backup before flashing. let me know how it works.
Works like a charm! Can you explain what you did so I can start to figure this out for myself?
And post a screen shot as well.
Also -- will this work on Sense?
Oh, +1 for "knowing what you did". What files did you edit?
honestly I could have easly gone in PS and made them but there is an even easier was to do it.
1. downloaded the theme
2. unziped the theme file
3. unziped Phone.apk from theme
4. went into drawable folder.
5. used winrar to open (not unzip) stock Phone.apk and navigated to drawable folder.
6. selected dialer buttons in themes drawable folder
7. draged buttons into stock Phone.apk
repeat with HtcContacts.apk
ziped it all up signed it.
good to go.

Gotcha, and when you said to edit the stuff in the drawable folder -- I presume the actual files that were edited were in the drawable-480x320 folder and began with "phone_number_#_rest/press.png, right?"

It's fine -- I'm just trying to create a custom theme and sometimes don't know which files to actually edit, that's all. Do you know how to create a custom ROM at all -- or at least what all it entails? I know its a lot like creating a theme for the most part, but I'm not even sure where to begin the process.
Thanks for the how-to... That's going to help a whole lot!

[Q] RCTeam tweaks and button light

Hi
is it possible to adjust the level the button lights light up?
The problem is that my button light need a REALLY complete dark room to light up (or i have to cover the light sensor). Would be nice if they come up a little earlier!
When I first noticed it I was using the VoidU S rom (<- with RCTeam tweaks). Now I'm on Hyperion and the button lights was working fine until I updated to v1.2 including the RCTeam tweaks. So I think there could be a relationship between my button light problem and the RCTeam tweaks.
I like both roms very much! It's not the greatest problem but a solution would make it just perfect for me
Thank you in advance!
Do you have the auto brightness mod option enabled in RCTweaks?
"autoBrightness" is set to default. Change it to "lower" or "lowest" or back to "default" does not change the butoon light behaviour.

Conclusion
it works!!!
i used apk manager to decompile and recompile the file /system/framework/framework-res.apk from the original rom... in my case Hyperion v1.2 by lowveld.
after that i edited the file \res\values\array.xml and changed the values for "config_autoBrightnessButtonBacklightValues" and "config_autoBrightnessKeyboardBacklightValues". Could be that "config_autoBrightnessButtonBacklightValues" is the only important value but i decided to play save
i attached my array.xml file (with already changed backlight values) for comparison for those with the same problem....

I'd like to know too please, is this a flashable zip, and does it properly fix the backlight?
yes, it is a flashable zip file. i packt it back into the zip file i extracted it from and flashed it with recovery. my backlight seems to work properly now.
just try it yourself... all infos for decompiling/compiling framework-res can be found here on xda devolopers.
i can write a more detailed guidance if you dont get it. could last a few days because of lack of time.
...i dont want to post the zip file because i dont want to mirror lowveld's rom. please forgive that....

Thanks very much, I'll look into how to do that, it will be my first time! Is it possible to make it a flashable zip as a small fix rather than flashing the whole rom again?
i did not have that problem to make a flashable zip file because i'm using hyperion with the "back to stock look" patch. i just edited the framework-res.apk from the patch and only had to flash about 25mb....
i'm not that expert but i'm pretty sure that it is possible to make a flashable zip with just these framework-res

Glad you got it sorted mate
yeah, i'm glad too!
don't know if i've done it the best way but it works....
here is how i get it:
- get apk manager
- use 7-zip to extract the framework-res.apk from the rom (or patch)
- copy framework-res.apk to /<apk manager>/place-apk-here-for-modding
- start script.bat
- select 9 for decompiling
- edit files (array.xml) in /<apk manager>/projects/framework-res.apk
- select 11 for decompiling
-> system apk? => yes
-> aside frome the signiture...... => yes
-> delete resources.arsc from /<apk manager>/keep
-> press the <any key> button
- select 12 for signing
- find your modified framework-res.apk in /<apk manager>/place-apk-here-for-modding
- rename the signed one to framework-res.apk and place it back to the zip file you extracted it from using 7-zip
- flash the updated zip file via recovery
got the same issue........asked lowveld to create a flashable zip with this fix....
i'm not into decompiling etc.
But it's really annoying not to see the buttons

As I believe olyloh6696 has said in thread and I know that I've said something similar before....What's the issue....the buttons don't ever change position and lighting the LED's only burns power, so what's the real problem....stop using your phone under the covers
Lol.......naaahh.....it should work, i paid for those damn lights so they WILL burn!

Backlight for soft buttons
You can try 'Keyboard backlight controller'. You can download it from the Market.
It works for me (running VoidU S v1.1a).
I hope this helps.

I was trying to search that all day long, and I didn't know which keywords to use, it was giving me some random results. So it would be lovely if somebody did it! All that I need is the data switch, cos I really have no idea why it's not there by default, that's my most used option, I think.
And yes, I know it's in the lock menu, but it's annoying going there all the time. and since I don't use widgets in Espier Launcher, I'm definitely waiting for this!

Then copy lidroid-res.apk to /system/framework/
after copy QuickPanelSettings.apk to /system/app/
again copy SystemUI.apk to /system/app/
and Last copy framework-res.apk to /system/framework/
Thats it phone will restart and You have the status buttons.

I doubt both will work, it's more possible that your new Systemui.apk and settings.apk would replace it. As for getting both of them to work, I don't think that's possible.

No, you'll need to decompile both apk's, merge them and compile again.
And then it's not even sure if they will work.
