[Q] RCTeam tweaks and button light - HTC Desire S

Hi
is it possible to adjust the level the button lights light up?
The problem is that my button light need a REALLY complete dark room to light up (or i have to cover the light sensor). Would be nice if they come up a little earlier!
When I first noticed it I was using the VoidU S rom (<- with RCTeam tweaks). Now I'm on Hyperion and the button lights was working fine until I updated to v1.2 including the RCTeam tweaks. So I think there could be a relationship between my button light problem and the RCTeam tweaks.
I like both roms very much! It's not the greatest problem but a solution would make it just perfect for me
Thank you in advance!

Do you have the auto brightness mod option enabled in RCTweaks?

"autoBrightness" is set to default. Change it to "lower" or "lowest" or back to "default" does not change the butoon light behaviour.

You need to decompile the framework-res and edit values.xml and recompile.

Hey cool!
Thank you for your advice!
I will try my luck

Conclusion
it works!!!
i used apk manager to decompile and recompile the file /system/framework/framework-res.apk from the original rom... in my case Hyperion v1.2 by lowveld.
after that i edited the file \res\values\array.xml and changed the values for "config_autoBrightnessButtonBacklightValues" and "config_autoBrightnessKeyboardBacklightValues". Could be that "config_autoBrightnessButtonBacklightValues" is the only important value but i decided to play save
i attached my array.xml file (with already changed backlight values) for comparison for those with the same problem....

I'd like to know too please, is this a flashable zip, and does it properly fix the backlight?

yes, it is a flashable zip file. i packt it back into the zip file i extracted it from and flashed it with recovery. my backlight seems to work properly now.
just try it yourself... all infos for decompiling/compiling framework-res can be found here on xda devolopers.
i can write a more detailed guidance if you dont get it. could last a few days because of lack of time.
...i dont want to post the zip file because i dont want to mirror lowveld's rom. please forgive that....

Thanks very much, I'll look into how to do that, it will be my first time! Is it possible to make it a flashable zip as a small fix rather than flashing the whole rom again?

i did not have that problem to make a flashable zip file because i'm using hyperion with the "back to stock look" patch. i just edited the framework-res.apk from the patch and only had to flash about 25mb....
i'm not that expert but i'm pretty sure that it is possible to make a flashable zip with just these framework-res

Glad you got it sorted mate

yeah, i'm glad too!
don't know if i've done it the best way but it works....
here is how i get it:
- get apk manager
- use 7-zip to extract the framework-res.apk from the rom (or patch)
- copy framework-res.apk to /<apk manager>/place-apk-here-for-modding
- start script.bat
- select 9 for decompiling
- edit files (array.xml) in /<apk manager>/projects/framework-res.apk
- select 11 for decompiling
-> system apk? => yes
-> aside frome the signiture...... => yes
-> delete resources.arsc from /<apk manager>/keep
-> press the <any key> button
- select 12 for signing
- find your modified framework-res.apk in /<apk manager>/place-apk-here-for-modding
- rename the signed one to framework-res.apk and place it back to the zip file you extracted it from using 7-zip
- flash the updated zip file via recovery

got the same issue........asked lowveld to create a flashable zip with this fix....
i'm not into decompiling etc.
But it's really annoying not to see the buttons

As I believe olyloh6696 has said in thread and I know that I've said something similar before....What's the issue....the buttons don't ever change position and lighting the LED's only burns power, so what's the real problem....stop using your phone under the covers

Lol.......naaahh.....it should work, i paid for those damn lights so they WILL burn!

Could you post the zip when you get it? I've tried to compile but it wasn't very successful and I can't test it properly as I gave the phone to my dad, he wants the lights

Backlight for soft buttons
You can try 'Keyboard backlight controller'. You can download it from the Market.
It works for me (running VoidU S v1.1a).
I hope this helps.

Thanks I'll give it a shot
Edit: only turns lights on or off, ideally I want them to work with the sensor....
if anyone could create a flashable zip for this I would happily donate some beer/flowers for wife etc money!!

Check out the hyperion thread, lowveld posted..... there is a fix for his rom......don't know if compatible with other roms

[MOD] Enable 270 degree rotation in ROMs without it

With the help of Tibedabeeto and Papa Smurf151 you can now enable 270 degree rotation in roms that don't have it enabled.
- They found out what was needed to enable it, all I did was make an update zip and test it out
Simply boot into recovery and flash the attached zip to replace the framework.jar file. (reboot may, and most likely will take a little bit of time since Framework has been modified)
Then under display > Enable/Check the orientation box
Done
Attached pictures are from Fresh 2.0d, but it was also tested on Infinitefx45's stock rom.
Thannxxx!!
Someone wanna try the framework.jar file from darchdroid to see if it will work on a sense rom
I'm on my phone or I'd do it.
Darchdroid has 360 rotation
I tried that as well, but I couldnt get it to boot :/

Yeah... I tried doing that earlier to the classes.dex file but I had nooo idea which .smali file to even look at haha. Good luck tho

Not sure. If ur using an aosp rom use the framework.jar from darchdroid. That's the one u want but u can try this one and see

Here's an AOSP version I whipped up. Tested with Buufed 2.0.3
I did not do the modding myself. This is the framework.jar from DarchDroid. I just threw it into a signed zip.
Was there any real mod work done here, or was the framework.jar file just pulled from Flipz's ROM and added to an update zip? If so, you should probably mention this, just sayin, as Flipz if the one who ported this original feature from the Eris leak that had this feature built in.
In terms of actually modding to allow for rotation, a search for 'orientation' in the decompiled files should get you closer to what you are looking for.

agreed man. i just told them where to get it from. No real mod work but just found out where it was kept and put into an update.zip file.

nfinites rom is deodexed and did u use the one from the first post or the later one that says 360. cause the 360 one does not work on that rom. the one on the first post is the one that works

After the I flashed this framework file I get a weird glitch (Things get out of place) every time I drag down the notification bar, and the phone is in landscape mode to the right. Is this a bug? Should I wipe Rotate settings in Recovery??

[24APRIL2011][Mod] Themes + Notifications Icon Mod + Settings w/ black background

If this framework eats your cat, i'm not responsible.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12340498&postcount=109
so i saw this post and decided that i want those icons. so i pulled my framework-res.apk from the current ROM i am using (overcome 1.4.4) and modded the files inside.
THOSE ICONS WERE NOT CREATED BY ME. CREDIT GOES TO ORIGNIAL CREATOR (dunno who, i tried to find but couldn't find it)
attached are NON-flashable zips from various ROMS that are available.
More info:
-the widget below the time is minimalist text.
-wallpaper is from this app called wallpapercasa free from the market which i highly recommend. this app has high res wallpapers made specially for tablets.
-"S" icon u see is samba filesharing free from the market as well. best wifi file transfer app IMHO from tab to computer or vice versa.
-from left to right, the icons are: bluetooth, wifi, silent mode, signal strength, battery(%) and alarm.
Credits:
Original creator of those icons.
Natious for his flashable zip.
alterbridge86 for his wonderful ROM.
Galaxyer for VA Green theme and black settings.
DistortedWisdom for blue honeycomb theme.
Biospin for black call settings page.
Update (13/4):
-added framework for BOYPPC-V3 rom. thanks to wallah.
-added framework for Overcome 1.5.0-Beta. thanks to mkhattab.
-made into cwm flashable zips
-made some changes to the framework as i realized that when i charge my tab, the animation is screwed up. this update should fix the problem.
Update (14/4):
-changed to non-flashable zips as there's some problem with the flashable zip.
Update (18/4):
-added ZHKC2.2.1
-will consider sourcing for more battery mods from other forums and add it here after my exams.
Update (19/4):
-added Overcome1.6.0
Update (21/4):
- added links for Blue Honeycomb theme by DistortedWisdom and VA Green theme by galaxyer and modded to work on Overcome 1.6.x by DistortedWisdom.
Update (23/4):
- added Settings.apk with black background [tested only on Overcome 1.6.1] preview: http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/1754/26105842.jpg
LATEST Update (24/4):
- added Blacksettings.rar - this is not a flashable. extract the apks and place them in /system/app for a black settings page. Currently only the account profiles page are not black. trying to fix it.
- Removed framework-res(Overcome1.5.0Beta) due to not so popular demand and lack of slots for uploading files.
Instructions for installing notification icons ONLY (without theme):
1. extract zip file.
2. copy the framework-res.apk in the zip file into your sd card using root explorer.
3. navigate to /system/framework
4. tap rw at the top.
5. paste the copied framework-res.apk and u will experience FCs and this is normal. DO NOT PANIC.
6. restart tab.
Instructions for Settings with black background:
1. download Blacksettings.zip and extract the apks inside to your sd card
2. copy or move all the apk using root explorer
3. navigate to system/app
4. tap on r/w at the top
5. [optional] backup your Phone.apk/Settings.apk/Accountsandsyncsettings.apk somewhere just in case it doesn't work for your rom. this has only been tested on Overcome 1.6.1
6. paste all apks
Instructions for installing themes ONLY (w/o icons mods):
1. place zip in internal or external sd card
2. boot into recovery
3. install zip
Link to download theme:

The themes and battery icon mods are 2 different framework-res.apk.
They are works of 2 different people and i will only combine them and post it here when i am free or when >10 people request for it. the screenshots you see are the result of combining them. i do not want to combine them because the original framework might change again when alterbridge releases an update for Overcome ROM and I do not know how to mod it to work on the new framework if that happens. the themes are done by DistortedWisdom and Galaxyer. i will request from them if ever there is an update and post it here. meanwhile i'm still trying to how to theme properly. if i know how i won't bother them again. thanks
hit some thanks if i've helped.

[MOD][XXKQB]Swipe to Remove Notifications

Hey guys, I have Ported swipe to remove notifications for the I9001,
It's similar to the ICS one, thanks to hansip87 for his Porting guide
I have created a CWM package, just flash it via FeaMod Recovery, (stock recovery might work, haven't tried it)
the phone will take quite some time to bootup after installation, don't worry
Remember you require XXKQB deodexed firmware, So deodex before trying this mod.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emGp...DvjVQa1PpcFPn6dwKkWC1MMm4clPvDKa5ZylOiPvUveI=
EDIT: tweaked the animation's slightly in (2), will be easier to swipe with the thumb now.you'll notice that swiping left will be easier, than swiping right, cause our thumb doesn't move in a linear motion while swiping right (if you are right handed) this can be tweaked.
Please let me know which one works the best or if they need to be tweaked more.
EDIT:Added Package for Moon ROM v4.0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFQN...DvjVQa1PpcFPn6dwKkWC1MLdqyRxI0qOBOQqSwbLsC_M=
EDIT: Added package for BroodRom.
EDIT:Set the packages to half swipe, this means you have to swipe from one edge to the center or slightly ahead.
If you liked this Mod then please press the thank's button

the phone will take quite some time to bootup after installation, don't worry
Remember you require XXKQB deodexed firmware, So deodex before trying this mod.

woohooo, so u succeeded ! i wrote to u in that thread, i was getting bootloops when i tried it a few weeks ago. great to see u did it ! Nice work man, big thanks
Really cool! It works with MoonROM but change theme...Hmm :S
Thanks man, I tried it once and stuck very early, wanted to try it again after my exams, but now you did it. Is it okay if I integrate it directly in my ICS-Theme? Would be just awesome!
Cheers
ICS theme with this mod will be great.
but gotta find the perfect swipe setting first
please test it and let me know.
Nice job dude!
Some other people also tried to make it work (including me) but failed. Really cool feature .
@ macdroid2:
It changes the theme because for this mod the systemUI.apk will be replaced. And there the moonrom theme isn't included. You could copy the moonrom .png files (from systemUI.apk) to the systemUI.apk of this mod..
awesome work

I'm noob on this type of things, it's easy to do? :$ sorry..
Attach the moon ROM framework.jar and systemui.apk file.
hey nail, nice done. But which framework.jar did you use? Because this is not the original KQB one.
I used the framework.jar from XXKQB Deodexed package made by you,
this one http://www8.zippyshare.com/v/49143861/file.html
Why what's wrong ?

Don't know if there are other things to change in the framework.jar for the theme.
I think you can simply unzip the systemUI.apk (if it doesn't work, rename it to systemUI.zip) and copy the files from /res/drawable-hdpi to the modded unzipped systemUI.
After that repack it (with compression setting -> store, in german it is named "speichern", don't know the exact name in english, but should be store), rename in systemUI.apk and try it.

There are a lot of different smali-files in the framework.jar if I compare it with the stock one. But as far as its working
got it installed on the moon rom, works fine. unfortunately, though, it kills off the other button settings in the status menu (i.e. there's also data connectivity, gps and so on, that you get to by swiping the buttons to the left)
so, ironically, your great work stops swiping
You had made the deodex package so you know better,
what rom's framework.jar is it actually ?
As long as it work's how it's supposed to, there's no problem

Re: [MOD][LOCKRING] Easy Custom Lockring Mod
I'm guesing you created this using CROMI 3.4.1 since you just posted it but wanted to verify. Also I would recomend adding the CROMI info in the OP like you did for ur theme.

Yes tested on CROMI, but should work on all roms of the same base that is why I did not say for CROMI specifically, read notes at bottom of post.
looks awsum... about to try!
will this affect your colormod?
did you see anything to suggest you could mod the lockscreen to stay in landscape? drives me crazy

No it won't affect color mod as all it does is change the lockring image.
Never noticed that the lockscreen still rotates even with auto-rotation off, I'll have a look and see what I can do
yep... awsum!
these finishing touches are really slick!
thanks
Hey guys,
I made a short video for this mod, to visualize how to flash this (even if it's pretty easy) and how it looks like.
I hope it is helpful for some of you!
Cheers
All we need now is a source for lock rings images. I did a quick google images search for "lockring png" but only came up with other threads that had mods. Not the actual png files. Could we unzip and extract those png images from those mods? Does anyone have a link for just getting appropriate sized png images?
---------- Post added at 03:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:23 PM ----------
I found a few rings and I've replaced as described above. When I rezipped using 7zip, the resultant file is called ECLM.7z. Am I on the right track? Can I flash this file?
So I reattempted this using some 128x128 png icons from iconarchive. I renamed them as directed and replaced the pngs in both of the folders. I rezipped to .zip and attempted flash. Flash failed. I will double check my file names. Is 128x128 too big?
Thank you for this . IT worked the first time I used it.

No 128x128 should be fine for hdpi but not sure about mdpi?
hdpi 183x183
mdpi 122x122
Re: [MOD][LOCKRING] Easy Custom Lockring Mod
Will try again tomorrow and use different sizes.
How do I screenshot the lockscreen from the device?

I use the dock which has a screenshot key. Not sure if you can do this without dock, I think I remember seeing a checkbox in settings to get screenshot by pressing vol- & power but only see one for recent apps button now.
Here is a link to post for xoom lockring mod by wesamothman
Download links at bottom of 1st post are lockring icon sets, there are many lockrings to choose from just unzip and pick.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923594
Rezipped file needs to be .zip again, it can have any name (lockring-mod.zip, my-ring.zip) but extension needs to be .zip
+1
power + volume down= screenshot
there is a knack to it but right timing works well ... i don't have dock and is only way to take screenshot of lock screen or notification bar.
