Android Market 3.2 - HTC Desire S

I know this should be in the themes/apps section, but this update makes the market smoother and kills the loading bug.
*See the attached items below*
To install ...
Copy to the the /system/app/ directory, and delete your current Vending.apk, then change the permissions to rwxr-xr-x.
Or ...
If you have adb installed, copy the vending.apk to the same directory and ...
adb shell
adb rm /system/app/Vending.apk
*ctrl + c*
adb push Vending.apk /system/app/
adb shell
adb cd /system/app/
adb chmod 644 Vending.apk

Edit .. if this doesn't make a lot of sense, I'll clean it up tomorrow .. going to bed .. haven't slept for about 43 hours.

is this an official release?

Unfortunately no, it isn't an official release. But its definitely legit.

It makes sense, but downloading executing and confirm with yes to replace is a bit easier

Does that actually work? Doing it that way didn't cross my mind, I just expected it to say it couldn't be installed. Let me know if it does work, I'll just re edit my main post.

Sry, I was a bit to fast, it looked like it worked, but the version were still 3.1...
But somehow confusing, cause changing from old to new market worked that way, anyway you were right

Your right, good night and rest in peace (or is it wrong at this point??? xD).
Sleep well and long to start tomorrow with new power

Got to get up in 3 and a half hours for class haha. Thanks though! Enjoy the new market, its so smooth ;-).
If anyone has any problems, I'll be back to help in about 5 hours haha.

It looks like a reboot it's needed after replacement (also wiped dalvik cache within recovery don't know if it's really needed), otherwise there are many fc from the market and the search button doesn't work.
But after it, it works smooth, like you said

I downloaded the APK and installed it. (When I opend the APK system asked me if I want to install and replace the old one)
I don't see any differnce in speed or so.

HTC Peep App - don't tell me it can't be done either! lol
Not the Desire app. Doesn't have the share option, this is just an old, low-res version of an old Hero port. At least I think.
Uhh, really??
if i install this, would i have it + the default music app? or would it override it?

Lol no I'm gunna try with these libs again but from the Desire ROM tonight in an update.zip format. I seem to have better luck with that than adb lol so it may or may not work. Might not be low res, can't tell from the screenshots and haven't flashed it yet.
Also, sorry if I sounded condescending, I had originally meant to post this in my thread about the Desire app, but ended up here. You didn't say it was the Desire app, my bad.

Ok thats what I thought. It is the old Hero version we already ported lol. Thats alright though.
About me trying the new version, I forgot I have a science project due friday, I have to work on my display. If I finish then I'll try it, if not it won't be until next week I get a chance because I have a concert tomorrow night, then I'll be gone all weekend for a tournament across the state.
Thanks for giving this a shot. It is still kinda choppy after removing the Google Music app and the resolution is kinda off, but none the less thanks for giving this a shot. If you try and port over the application from the desire build that would be sick!

New Market 3.2.0

not much different than 3.1.6 but that version never got pushed to phones/tabs so it may contain bugs. update through link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297389
edit: as mentioned below, this version isn't displaying properly on tablets. Try Philos' instructions on getting this market to work. see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18392304&postcount=11
3.2.0 looks a lot different than 3.1.6 did for me. The layout is even more scattered and ugly... I can't imagine this being intended. For instance, look at the useless big black box in the second screenshot. Maybe it's because of the ROM I'm running (ARHD 2.1.0), not sure if that's relevant. Here are the screenshots:
well that stinks. I haven't actually tried it on my transformer yet. only installed to phone. anyone else can confirm its not working on tabs? I'll remove link if so.

Not surprisingly, this does look pretty decent when in portrait screen orientation.
Yeah Complete bust for me FC only on TF101 Revolver 3.6 Android 3.2.1.
For someone who's want install in his TF101 - ARHD 2.1.0 -, I've got it and no problem.
Instructions:
*You can try to install this .apk over top of your current market, but it may not work. If it won’t, then you will need to be rooted and follow the instructions below.
1. Download the file (Phonesky.apk) to your SD card.
2. In Root Explorer or ESFile Explorer, find the file you just downloaded and copy it.
3. Move into /system/app and hit the R/W button to mount – then paste the file.
4. Find Vending.apk and rename it to something like Vending.apk1.
5. Long press on Phonesky.apk and rename it to Vending.apk.
6. Afterwards, long press on it again and choose “Permissions.”
7. Change the permissions to this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
8. Press “OK”, reboot and enjoy the new market.
Give it a try and you should have the latest Android Market, the same instructions should also work on all Android tablets too. You may run into some permission issues and will have to change a few things using root explorer if that is the case so head on down to the source link for full details.
Nothing to change on the UI.

HOW TO - Using the ICS AOSP Web Browser in Sense

GOT THE ICS AOSP BROWSER TO WORK!
Here's what I did to get the stock browser to work in the Sense ROMs.
1) I extracted the Browser.apk file from "Voldemort's" ROM and put it on my SD card. (I attached this file to this post)
2) Navigated to /system/app/
2) I went into Root Explorer and renamed the current "browser.apk" to "browser.apk.bak"
3) Copied the AOSP browser.apk into the apps folder.
4) Changed the permissions on the browser.apk to the same as is listed in the picture below.
5) Went into the app manager and cleared the data for the browser app.
Opened the browser, and BAM! Worked!
(Pic of permissions... I stole this from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402364)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I hope this helps you guys... The browser is really fast. Opens really quick too.
Here's a pic of the working browser. (Sorry, the screen shot sucks.)
UPDATE:
It appears the 4.0.3 browser should work fine in a 4.0.3 ROM. Most of the AOSP ROMs already come with this browser, but if you're coming from a Sense ROM, this may help.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23101917&postcount=33
Hello,
Is it hardware accelerated now? Is it smoother than the one from gingerbread on complex/lots of flash pages/scrolling?
Thank you
Yeah. It's fast as hell. WAY WAY WAY better than GB. I was using Miren Browser on GB because I was on Sense. But this is definitely faster than Miren Browser as well.
I've gone to a couple sites already that crashed all the other browsers and they not only stay open, but they still move/scroll very smoothly.
Good Morning flash addicts!!! New day, new toys!!
Does it work on GB roms (2.3.5)? or is it only for ICS?
I am trying on 2.3.5 (InserCoin ROM) but it did not work.
Got the answer! --> ICS apps use ICS APIs that GB doesn't have, so it wont work!

[MOD][DEV](5/24/12) Hide ATT Logo in Status Bar | DL Link up...

Hello. Currently, it hides the "AT&T" in both the unexpanded and expended statusbar. I can make it so it appears in just the expanded statusbar or put something else in the expanded statusbar (may take a bit, but should be fairly quick).
I have some testers, so if they say all is good, I'll put up the DL link straightaway...
I am working on working CWM port now, so I am just going to post, as it seems to work. Have fun, and use at your own risk!!! I'll also have an installer up soon.
Oh, THIS IS FOR THE 1.82 RUU, I haven't tested on 1.73, but I can make it for that version, as well, and 1.85 when it's rooted...also, you need to be Deodexed!

You're fine. I usually give 24 hours to post the link. Im not a hardass like some of the other Mods.
Thanks for all of your hard work! You seem to be running about 4 projects at a time.
Hey, sk ...that Logo is not rom based...it's actually carrier based, It will display whatever carrier you are on..
For example, I'm on 1.82 att rom but it displays rogers, since i'm using rogers..
so when you changed to another network it will be the name of other network.
just want everyone to know, so they will not be that annoyed to have it.

Thanks for pointing this out. I just find it annoying/redundant, and it's not in the carrier free One X, so I got rid of it. Like I said, I can add it back to the expanded status bar if people need to know what network they are on (and it's still on your lockscreen).

2) Move new SystemUI.apk to /system/app/ with Root Explorer

3) Set Permissions to rw-rw-rw
Success on Magnolia X. (On 1.82)
Just to let everyone know it re-set my wallpaper to the default ROM one, but of course this is easy, just re-select the one you want!
Great Job SK!

The wallpaper change happens any time you replace the systemui because when I was doing some theming of the apk it happened every time even when putting the original back. Just need to go into settings and reset it no biggy.

OK, so I'm confused.....
The download link in the OP is for android.policy.jar, yet the posts listed are for SystemUI.apk.
I'm guessing the download link is linked tothe incorrect file?

Virtuous Saga v.1.0.0 camera.apk

Hi,
In the Virtuous Saga thread under development it is said that if you reinstall camera apk from system\apps you get the panorama mode back. Curious as I am I tried that, but there seems not to be any camera.apk in this zip!
Can someone explain? Is another ZIP meant te be source of this camera app?
Thanks!
Con
PS to mods:
I am active on XDA for about two or three years now. I never had to ask questions, because I actually search and read... Therefore I was unpleasantly surprised when I noticed that I can't post in the development thread. I believe that I am know asking help on a specific rom in a thread that is not intended for this...
Search for HTCCamera.apk in /system/app/.
You have to make 10 posts or so... to be able to post in the development section.

Thanks, I found it!
But after installing it there is no extra panorame mode.
That doesn't surprise me, but it's the same app that was already installed...
Does someone know how to get this panorama option in the scenes menu?

Thanks zyotty, for replying.
It is still not clear to me though... Do you, after having done as you describe, have amaze running, or the standard htccamera.apk? And did you install amaze from Play Store, or do you have an apk for that?
Thanks again!

I have attached the working Amaze cam. Copy the apk with RootExplorer to "system\app" folder (overwrite the existing apk), set the permissions like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
if you're done, restart your phone......

Yes, you can use ES File Explorer (don't forget to activate "root explorer" function, and mount file system in the app) if you don't have RootExplorer installed.

Haha! I have been using ES File Explorer every now and then for years, but I did not know the Root Explorer feature! ;-) Thanks for pointing that out.
The permissions seemed to be okay as they were, nevertheless I reinstalled again, but no panorama mode... I'll leave it there, because one of these days that will probably come in one of the many new ROMs anyway...
