HOW TO - Using the ICS AOSP Web Browser in Sense - HTC Sensation

GOT THE ICS AOSP BROWSER TO WORK!
Here's what I did to get the stock browser to work in the Sense ROMs.
1) I extracted the Browser.apk file from "Voldemort's" ROM and put it on my SD card. (I attached this file to this post)
2) Navigated to /system/app/
2) I went into Root Explorer and renamed the current "browser.apk" to "browser.apk.bak"
3) Copied the AOSP browser.apk into the apps folder.
4) Changed the permissions on the browser.apk to the same as is listed in the picture below.
5) Went into the app manager and cleared the data for the browser app.
Opened the browser, and BAM! Worked!
(Pic of permissions... I stole this from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402364)

I hope this helps you guys... The browser is really fast. Opens really quick too.
Here's a pic of the working browser. (Sorry, the screen shot sucks.)
UPDATE:
It appears the 4.0.3 browser should work fine in a 4.0.3 ROM. Most of the AOSP ROMs already come with this browser, but if you're coming from a Sense ROM, this may help.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23101917&postcount=33

Hello,
Is it hardware accelerated now? Is it smoother than the one from gingerbread on complex/lots of flash pages/scrolling?
Thank you

Yeah. It's fast as hell. WAY WAY WAY better than GB. I was using Miren Browser on GB because I was on Sense. But this is definitely faster than Miren Browser as well.
I've gone to a couple sites already that crashed all the other browsers and they not only stay open, but they still move/scroll very smoothly.

Good Morning flash addicts!!! New day, new toys!!

Does it work on GB roms (2.3.5)? or is it only for ICS?
I am trying on 2.3.5 (InserCoin ROM) but it did not work.
Got the answer! --> ICS apps use ICS APIs that GB doesn't have, so it wont work!

Yep... Just don't flash this. LOL I don't know how to make flashable zips. This zip just has the APK in it. The instructions are simple. Although, I'm hoping someone can add this to their flashable AOSP mod.

I tried this and couldn't figure it out. I've never seen this in action, so I'm not 100% sure what it's supposed to do, but I swiped all over the screen left and right and got nothing.

I only used dolphin for a few hours long ago so I couldn't tell you. Dolphin was a little too messy for me. I like simple and clean. Performance wise, I don't think much can beat the AOSP browser since it's light weight and hardware accelerated.

You can't flash this zip.
Follow the instructions in the OP to install it. However, if you want to flash, take a look at Hawke's thread. He has a flashable zip with all of the AOSP apps.

[APP][Keyboard] Android 2.2 Keyboard! as seen on Cyanogen Nightly Builds

After lots of looking and time tearing apart Cyanogen's Roms I found the awesome Froyo keyboard, that expands up for numbers and such. I take no credit for this keyboard. Cyanogen got it from somewhere and I just pulled it from the rom.
Install Instructions:
1. Download the Apk file to your sd card
2. Locate and install it. It might ask you to uninstall or upgrade depending on what keyboards you have on your phone previously. I just uninstalled the previous keyboard and than installed this one.
3. Go into your settings and enable Android Keyboard
4. Open a text message and change the input method to Android Keyboard (Long key press on the message box)
Confirmed Working on:
OMJ All 2.2 versions
Damage Control V3.5
Ava-FroyoV3RevA
Fresh Evo 3.1.0.1 (not sure why people are having problems, works great for me)
Baked Snacks 1.2
Burnt Droid 1.0
Does not work on 2.1 (as far as I know) Testers would be nice

Thats something new in the 2.2 keyboard if you swipe up it gives you the numbers. Its suppose to make it easier but I find it harder then going to the number pad.

If it does work with anything besides MIUI, I'd imagine it'd only be AOSP roms, so no business sense. You can try though, drop it in system/app and set the permissions to match everything else. I don't even know if it works on CM7, will have to wait for someone to test.

i dont think this will work with sense because of the kernel. BTW the apk you posted worked for me on CM7. did they add anything new to it since may?
MIUI works on my Incredible Via running CyanogenMod. Works perfect too, best camera app I got. The Guy who gave me mine said run it in recovery, find the zip and install it. It will replace your stock camera from your rom.
I am running;
- 1.) MIUI Camera
- 2.) IncRom Camera
- 3.) LG Camera
All three work fine and perfect except the LG one is buggy for us incredible users. It needs an auto detect settings, put on the wrong one it malfunctions till you fix it right. I've never got the actual camera to work either.

Boot into recovery, make sure that the Apk is in a .zip
Go to install from Sd card, find where it is and install it.
Following the steps above but I did not notice a new change in the latest camera.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B5NO0V6S< In order to install the Apk we were given here you need to extract the MetaFilss folder from this zip. Then compress the apk and meta folder into a zip. I just did it, it works. If you want you don't have to do that, you can just install this one. But follow the steps above.

if you are on sense then it would be a little bit difficult because the kernel controls the camera. so you would have to make a hybrid froyo / GB kernel to get froyo camera to work. if you are on ASOP its a little bit easier.

New Market 3.2.0

not much different than 3.1.6 but that version never got pushed to phones/tabs so it may contain bugs. update through link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297389
edit: as mentioned below, this version isn't displaying properly on tablets. Try Philos' instructions on getting this market to work. see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18392304&postcount=11
3.2.0 looks a lot different than 3.1.6 did for me. The layout is even more scattered and ugly... I can't imagine this being intended. For instance, look at the useless big black box in the second screenshot. Maybe it's because of the ROM I'm running (ARHD 2.1.0), not sure if that's relevant. Here are the screenshots:
well that stinks. I haven't actually tried it on my transformer yet. only installed to phone. anyone else can confirm its not working on tabs? I'll remove link if so.

Not surprisingly, this does look pretty decent when in portrait screen orientation.
Yeah Complete bust for me FC only on TF101 Revolver 3.6 Android 3.2.1.
For someone who's want install in his TF101 - ARHD 2.1.0 -, I've got it and no problem.
Instructions:
*You can try to install this .apk over top of your current market, but it may not work. If it won’t, then you will need to be rooted and follow the instructions below.
1. Download the file (Phonesky.apk) to your SD card.
2. In Root Explorer or ESFile Explorer, find the file you just downloaded and copy it.
3. Move into /system/app and hit the R/W button to mount – then paste the file.
4. Find Vending.apk and rename it to something like Vending.apk1.
5. Long press on Phonesky.apk and rename it to Vending.apk.
6. Afterwards, long press on it again and choose “Permissions.”
7. Change the permissions to this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
8. Press “OK”, reboot and enjoy the new market.
Give it a try and you should have the latest Android Market, the same instructions should also work on all Android tablets too. You may run into some permission issues and will have to change a few things using root explorer if that is the case so head on down to the source link for full details.
Nothing to change on the UI.

(mod for p6200) stock honeycomb apks working on p6200!

Hey guys
the other night i was messing about with my p6200 with KL7 firmware and decided i was totally sick of the crappy Samsung stock apks camera, music, browser calender... etc and i was sick of waiting for some one to make a theme or a mob to fix this issue as i have always wanted AOSP vanilla honeycomb on the p6200 i decided it was time i go bare grills on its ass haha
this is what i did.....
NOTE: first you will need to be rooted deodexed and have root explorer.....
step1. download the stock ROM for the asus transformer 3g (its easy to find on XDA i can not post links as i am new)
step2. extract all the system apps in to a folder (i will make a flash soon but if you want them now then continue )
step3. place the folder on to the root of your SD card unplug USB
step4. providing you have root explorer installed navigate to system, app and make a back up of all your stock apks you wish to replace...WARNING: only use the apks i have listed below any damages caused at this point will be nothing to do with me and it will be your fault. if you wish to come and kick my ass then so be it hahaha
step5. providing you have backed up you apks to a safe place e.g. SD card you are safe to continue. now navigate to your folder from which we placed on to the root of the SD card before then find the apk you wish to replace and press copy or move press back till you are in the main path agen and open system, app and past (some apks will appear straight away but its always best to reboot.
step6. after applying apks its always best to navigate to settings, applications, manage applications, all applications and find the apk you just installed and clear data or it may force close until you do so e.g. browser will force close until you clear its data.
their you go guys its done you are now using stock honeycomb apks and they should be all working. let me know how you get on
list of working asus apks tested and confirmed working
1.stock asus camera (fully working)
2.stock asus launcher (partly working as it force closes when adding widgets)
3.stock asus calender (fully working)
4.stock asus gallery (fully working)
5.stock asus music player (fully working and beautiful)
6.stock asus browser (fully working but required data to be cleared)-this browser will not dim the back light then opened unlike the stock browser and it looks soooo much crisper and clean.
pleas read all instructions and do this at your own wrist i recommend nandroid back up before any kind of modification.
thanks agen
aim of this is to encourage a willing developer to make a AOSP vanilla honeycomb theme for the p6200 using my discovery...it would be a revelation for our p6200s
please feel free to app links if you have them for downloads etc...
i have did try adding screen shots

[REQUEST] AOSP Status Bar / Notification Menu Theme for ICS

I've posted in a few sections and it seems to get burried, and I don't mean to spam, but would like to start a legit thread as I have a feeling lots and lots of users would really like this.
I am looking for someone to theme just the Notification Bar/Menu to look like this FOR THE ICS LEAK:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"

APEX/NOVA (apex for me) handle the rest quite nicely. Willing to donate a decent amount to the person who can do this right, and at least two of my co-workers who also have the skyrocket would also much appreciate it, and I have a feeling the community as a whole would as well.
NOT looking for any other changes, hoping this makes things simple, and hopefully a quick mod.
Thanks a ton guys.
UPDATE:
This Dev was so kind as to fullfill my request for the most part, and is working on it to continue improve it.
Also added the 14 toggle: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568128
+1 also put the 14 bar mod in it as well. I for the life of me borked my phone trying to get it in there following the instructions.

I also would really love this. Blue icons, 14 toggle mod (if possible), and no ATT logo.

Changing the system.ui is easy enough. If you can get me the zip file I can do it for you. But idk about the 14 toggle. I think you have to mess with xml's for that and I just did a fresh install of windows so I haven't re-downloaded the necessary tools yet lol.
Scratch that: This works fine I think.

Could you get the information needed to the dev of that Theme so he can include it in his next update? That would be awesome.

For help I'd post in the guys thread, as he is probably the only one who can really help you, did you clear cache and dalvik and restore permissions after flashing?

Anyone got this fixed that borked their notification bar as well? I posted on the thread for the dev, but also wanted to ask here in case someone who has a Skyrocket can assist since all the T-Mo folks seem to have it working just fine.... followed the instructions to a T!
EDIT - Turns out the deodexed ROM I was using wasn't deodexed and killed my notification bar.... I flashed a true deodexed ROM and then this, works great!!!
