I am planning to buy a MyTouch 4g slide to upgrade my aging Touch Pro. What is the procedure to unlock the phone to use on any network?
Any network meaning any GSM carrier correct? It wont work on verizon or sprint.
Sent from my Undeadk9's Senseless ROM using xda premium
Yes unlock to use on any GSM network. I need to use this phone on gsm networks in Asia.
I just got mine unlock
here are your options from what I learned..
1. get it unlock through T-Mobile, if you have service with them. But there is no guarentee they will proivde an unlock code.
2. Do what I did, I use the AT&T prepaid, bought the unlock code and unlocked it. There are a number of sites they do this a I researched and ran into a lot of bad reviews on the cheaper ones. I ended up using these guys below for $25 and I got the code emailed in 10 minutes... worfked great.

T-Mobile said they'd give me an unlock code, but I had to wait 30 days...**** that.
Etn40ff, thanks for this link. It brought me to the guides I needed.
I'm trying to understand the process. I've done this over the years to so many phones, but its getting to be over my head, honestly.
I guess my next question is how to root this phone? I'll do a search for this.
Worked great for me, thanks
Go here. http://revolutionary.io/. Follow the directions. They have files for root as well. Make a clockwork mod back up after revolutionary. From h boot hit recovery then hit backups and restore. Make a backup could take up to ten mins fyi, if it looks like it froze it prob didn't.
Place zip files into sdd card. Reboot into recovery at the h boot select recovery. Next hit load file from sd card. Click yes. You're done reboot.
Make sure you have s off before you root via revolutionarys tool.
Hope that helps

My dad came home from work today and his stock Inspire 4G has stopped working. Nothing has been done to it. It simply hard locked and turned itself off. Since then I can't get it to boot past the boot loader. Once it's in the bootloader it checks for the PG98IMG.zip and then doesn't respond to anything else. I have tried numerous battery pulls, connecting to the phone with ADB and so forth but no response from the phone. Any ideas? AT&T has shipped him a refurb, but I figured I would take a crack at it until then since his phone would probably be better than some random refurb.
Sad, seems like it's boot looping: on stock rom, no less. My options will void the warranty, though, as it entails installing custom roms:
1. Push a cooked rom by rooting it. The cooked rom should be clean, but it will be rooted, thus, warranty void.
2. Try looking for stock rom for the HTC Inspire, push that using ADB and have the bootloader use it. Hopefully, it should restore stock settings to your inspire and still be replaced through warranty (i wouldn't know, I haven't sent a rooted phone in to warranty yet)
If that fails, might as well call AT&T and say it's a dud.

You could take the pd98img.zip from the ruu and it would do a clean install and more then likely boot the phone up, unless it is a hardware issue. I don't see the need to root it if all he wants is the stock rom.
Btw you can find the pd98img.zip in the guide stickied in the general section.

Wait, how did you get into the bootloader if you dad's phone is stock?
same way you do on a rooted phone power plus volume down..I think you are confusing the bootloader with recovery.

I think I'll try this. I'm wondering if it's a hardware problem though. My dad just told me that yesterday it was losing signal and then he would reboot it and it would regain signal for a little while and drop it again. May be a radio problem.
LEAVE IT BE. There is no reason to monkey with it if you already got the refurb, just send it away. Just because you want to poke around like bill nye or something might end up costing your dad $450.
I Agree Leave it be

Why not just take the stock ruu which installs from the pc?

Revolutionary achieved radio S-OFF for Sensation (among other devices) which means you can practically do whatever you want with your phone (like actually owning it..). This means it makes it vulnerable to all sorts of schemes including sim-unlocking. This can be done various ways (check forums), but I find the following quite efficient and easy to do!
Requirements: owning a Sensation S-Off’ed using this;
1. download this file and put it on the root of your sdcard
2. reboot your phone in hboot and let it do its job: load the file you’ve just downloaded from sdcard and run it. That file is a diagnostic utility and serves various purposes given various conditions.
3. you’ll enter a menu from which you can choose to check your device’s info or reset s58 data.
4. Reset s58 data. This actually resets some things including your sim-lock status.
Now you’re free to go! Bear in mind, though, that in certain circumstances you’ll lose your data connectivity or network signal. You’ll just have to check your APN, network type & so on; I guess this varies with each case.
Credits go to you all, XDA community, but best you should thank revolutionary team!
WARNING!!!
Backup all your settings/apps/sms/etc, network unlocking by using this method also involves wiping your data!

I would assume that SIM-unlocking does not void warranties.. but please correct me if I'm wrong. I realize this is a hacked method of achieving SIM-unlock, but I do not think it would matter how SIM-unlock is achieved.

not to mention, those of us on t-mo can just ask for the code. They've
always gladly given it to me. They wouldn't give you something that would
void the warranty.

well that makes sense but it only works with s-off so if it leaves clues the htc repair can simply refuse to repair the phone since s-off void the warranty

Hi sieempi! I tried the guide you developed on unlocking my HTC sensation which is locked to TMobile but it didnt work. My phone doesn't recognize the PG58DIAG.nbh code. Any other alternative to this?
What do you mean it doesn't recognize? Post your hboot messages.
ok I just did it. I didn't give me the option to reset the s58 data but to clean the s58 data, so I ran that, and now I'm running the nandroid backup I did before this process. I can use my mom's AT&T Sim to see if it worked or now I'll report back in a bit when I see if it worked or not.
It works fine but with that can´t do the normal updates anyone can help me??
I only have the s-off and that program, and i want to do the new update.
It's possible to do a roll back and put the sensation like he comes stock?
Thanks
awesome!

The last few days it's been going around unlocking the note II and gs3 with some settings(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34661189). Well the good news is the method can be used on our phones! I don't know what modems work I know two that don't. I was able to use the T989 modem (Tmo_SGH-T989_UVLE1_radio.zip)to unlock my phone but others have reported UCLD2 (a skyrocket modem) works as well. after I unlocked I switched back to UCLI3 and the phone is still unlocked.
You'll need to be on a stock(or stock based) rom and you should make sure the number matches the text next to it. All you need to do is touch the row to select it. I did these steps with a O2 sim card in my phone. after the reboot your phone might take a second but it should connect to the network and be happy with your non att sim.
I have not tested this on a rogers phone. It might work it might make your phone explode in your hand and kill you. For all I know it could do the same for other ATT phones.

Confirmed, this method works to network unlock using stock UCLD2 rom and modems (the April 15th ICS 4.0.3 leak.) Links to the CWM-flashable stock ROM and modems can be found below. Unlock was performed on an AT&T locked SGH-I727 using a TMO SIM card.
This method is modem specific, as the service mode commands vary by modem. It does NOT work with UCLA3, UCLE2, or UCLF6 modems (NV initialize menu item is not present, or non-functional.)
Note: After 'Press [4] NW LOCK NV DATA INITIALLIZ' step the phone reports ' PERSO_NV_INIT is SUCCESSFUL', then it's safe to reboot.
Confirmed that IMEI is intact following network unlock, and that unlock persists following a ROM/modem flash (back to CM-10.0.0 and UCFL6 modems.)
Awesome find, my friend!

kool, i added this thread to the sticky, even though its cheap to buy an unlock code for rogers(i paid under $8 from ebay), for att users its more expensive
Hi, I'm stock ICS on ATT, if I just flash the new modem will that make any difference on my ATT service? Like not get HSPA+ service. I am currently out of the country so I can't test it with my ATT sim. (had my phone line suspended)

First, a stock (or stock-based) ROM must be installed. Specifically, one that includes Samsung's serviceModeApp.apk in /system/app. This is required to support the *#197328640# dialer code that brings up the modem's service menu. ROM's such as CM9/CM10/AOKP/AOSP won't work for this because they don't have the service mode interface.
Second, a modem that supports the '[4] NW LOCK NV DATA INITIALIZE' command is required. The service mode menu items that are displayed and available are a function of the modem, not the ROM-- so only specific modems can be used to unlock with this method. So far it's confirmed that T-Mobile's UVLE1 and AT&T's UCLD2 have what it takes.
Just perform a nandroid backup of the current setup, flash an appropriate ROM and modem, factory reset, reboot, perform the network unlock, reboot, verify it's success with a non-accepted SIM, then restore the nandroid backup and re-flash the previous modem.

If you look at the OP he used ANOTHER sim card when doing all this. I think if you have an AT&T SIM in it doesn't work. I'm guessing that's it as I had an AT&T SIM in while I was doing it and it didn't work. Try a T-Mobile or other GSM sim and see what happens. I'll be doing that later.
Update: Apparently you do NOT need to have another SIM card in when you do this, as I was working on unlocking the phone with a T-Mobile card in and before I finished (I mean like I was on step 2) I got a T-mobile signal and was able to browse the web. Best advice I can give is when you reboot, make sure you wait for a good minute to see if the phone was unlocked, as you won't get a signal immediately even if it works.

I went back to a complete bone stock factory rom from TMo and it still doesnt ask for a subsidy unlock. DISCLAIMER I am not responsable for your phone if you can't follow basic instructions do not attempt.
First put your phone back to the proper Firmware where you can access service mode. Once that's done download QPST make sure the phone is on RNDIS+DM+MODEM download the phoneutil.apk put it on your phone and install.
Once that is done make a backup of your NV MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS IT SAVES YOUR IMEI NUMBER.
After the phone is rebooted go in to service mode and clear your EFS once the EFS is clear get to SHA256 on turn it on once on go back and then turn it off you should get 116630
Go back to COMMON and MAKE a backup
After the phone reboots open QPST and RESTORE the NV you had just backed up.
Your phone is now unlocked I CAN CONFIRM THIS WORKS.
Sorry the instructions aren't very precise but like I said IF YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT DO NOT ATTEMPT.

This works with AT&T MF3 stock rooted. Thanks a lot!!!!!
doubt
i can confirm this works, but now i have a custom boot, can i flash back to stock with tar files of mf3 and it ill remain unlocked? thx
Yeah it wouldn't work on Beanstalk 4.3.1 but I booted over to my touchwiz rom and it worked flawlessly. Put in my T-Mobile sim in and it.didn't ask me for an unlock code ;3 thank-you
Also I'm on mdl

It worked on my MF3! I was confused with all the different posts, so this is what I did:
1. Rooted device (I had already rooted to delete AT&T bloat)
2. Downloaded RegionLockAway-v1.3.apk
3. Installed App
4. Ran the app and said Reboot Later
5. Powered off phone
6. Took out my AT&T SIM and replaced it with a T-Mobile SIM
7. Turned on the device with no message about SIM unlock code!

Same for me, except I didn't even have may ATT Sim in. Followed the steps, put the tmobile Sim in and viola!
I did this to my MF3 device, had a successful unlock, I OTA'd to 4.3 and i'm still SIM unlocked, thanks!
Been unlocking phones with this app daily for like 2 months now. Can't go wrong with it. The MF3 root is ridiculously easy aswell

Just to clarify, if you change modems, you will HAVE TO re-run the app, as it patches the modem, it is NOT a true unlock....so in theory Ends is right....still not bad, and it works, but changing modems will disable it....

Change your modem and see what happens.
It will then ask again for a sim unlock....
Did anyone try this on other devices than Samsung?
