Wondering what the best rom for me to use would be?
I also feel like my phone uses too much battery searching for data.it burned 25% in 1 hour without use. Just because I didn't have a 3g signal

ROM has much less impact on battery life than the kernel. The best battery life you're going to get right now is on Froyo with an overclock kernel so that you can undervolt as low as your phone can handle.
I recommend updating your modems to the newest EP3HA leak. I have had much better data connectivity since. If you are in a building that is causing the issue it may or may not help.

Just wondering if when I flash the imo 3.1 for charge like you have in your comment (using humble 4.22) will it show 2.6.35.7-EP3 for the kernel in the "About Phone"? Just trying to verify if the flash worked.

I like it actually despite it being a beta however there's still issues one of which is with lagfix/ext4 conversion that soft bricks the phone so stock RFS for now (I should change the sig lol)... its fast enough and the cyan/ICS look is pretty cool, no accurate battery readings yet as I've had to flash it a few times the past few days to test stuff but it seems to be pretty decent
I also managed to grab a beta of Imnuts/TSM Infinity rom for EP3H that I used for a while and that was pretty awesome.. it was smooth, stable and had pretty good battery life, I don't know when they're gonna release as a final rom but it looked done pretty much.. there is an Infinity rom for EP1W though that's the same if you don't mind not having the latest leak lol

Ok, ive been doing some research and it looks like eagals blood is prob the rom for me. I was wondering if i could get some advice on this, i am currently unrooted so im stock , this phone is killing me when it comes to battery life, the stability is so so, but my real problem is battery life i charge my fone about 3 times a day. I am a crazy heavy user, fb, texting about 200-400 message a day, phone calls every now and then, games (words with friends), and just random internet stuff. so my phone is like my life! My friend has a samsung captivate and he can go 12-14 of heavy usage prob not as much as me but he doesnt have it charging all the time like me. I was wondering what rom i should use to achieve great battery life and not lose out on stabilty or speed, look doesnt matter bc i use UTO kitchen.
Are you looking for an Android 2.3.3 or 2.3.5 ROM?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Hey man if you want a 2.3.3 rom that is stock the best is Xboarders stock tweeked rom it is super stable and everything works and the battery life is great. I use that ROM myself when I am in a stock mood. You hit it on the head with eaglesblood it is the best rom out there. I use the 1.08 verion it is based off GB 2.3.5 it is a mix a cm7 and EB goodness. The battery life is also excellent on it but you will not have A2DP (thats BT stero music) And you cant flash the stock froyo LG camera and there are APN issues that A hard reboot fixes every time. All of the problems I just mentioned are not specific to EB they are however specific to GB 2.3.5 for the g2x. It has something to do with Nivdia not relesing something drivers or sorce I dont know what exactly but thats why. You have to make a choice. I hope this helps you. Oh I alklmost forgot I am a heavy user like you except not text mssgs or phone calls but net data data data I had to change my plan to the 10 gig plan 5 was not enough. So what I did was I got the extended battery for the O2x it fits perfdectly and it was only $30. Before that I had 2 stock batterys with an external charger that worked ok too but I hated changing the battery half way through the day you should look into that. Good luck man.

i dont mind i want something stable, fast and great battery life...what does A2DP mean...im going to try EB 1.07 bc i hear no1 has problems with that...
A2DP is Stereo Bluetooth Audio... That's only important if you listen to music using a Stereo Bluetooth Headset.
For battery life, I'd recommend a CM7 based ROM, with either a stock, or undervolted kernel, such as faux123.

I agree with FatalityBoyZahy,
I did see a battery life increase after installing CM7, but the most dramatic change in battery life came after installing faux's 0.4.1 undervolted kernel.
And no the speed and stability don't drop, at least not with faux's kernel.
I would imagine that a 2.3.3 stock GB based rom such as Xboarder's tweaked or EB 2.3.3 plus faux's stock GB kernel would produce the best battery life, as I remember experiencing a huge jump in battery life from CM7 to stock GB.
However, I feel like besides the great battery life, the stock GB roms are ****ty compared to CM7 in terms off features and stability.
For example you can't do Netflix or gtalk video on stock GB.
Also I didn't experience this, but some users experience reboots and other such nonsense on stock GB.
So in Summary:
- stock 2.3.3 based rom (EB 2.3.3 is your best bet here in my opinion) + faux kernel = best battery life
- cm7 based rom (EB 2.3.5 or latest CM7 nightly) + faux kernel = best choice for both great battery life and better stability/features
Hope this helps!

No. The only risk is that you might run into stability issues, but using morfic's UV11 it isn't an issue.
Undervolt, use SetCPU profiles, keep wifi/gps off when you're not using them, and keep your display brightness low. That will net you the best battery life.

I believe the faux kernel is here: [Kernel]CM7 [2.6.32.45] (v0.4.1) OC~1.55GHz/UV/SLQB/BFQ/EXT4/Voodoo [Aug-27]
Looks like the CM version of the kernel is preferred by some in that thread (has to do with the battery driver).
Question: In terms of flashing the kernel, should I flash the ROM first and then the kernel? Or the other way around? (Or does it not matter?)

Always ROM then kernel.
And I prefer the CM version of faux's kernel as well. Supposedly the DS version has better battery life but I've never been able to notice because I'm always busy pulling my hair out over the jumpy and wildly inaccurate readings.

So I'm bouncing back and forth between gummy and humble but i've yet to leave froyo. Is there a difference in performance between froyo and gingerbread... For roms not stock.?
Stock GB is faster than stock EE4 Froyo.
Froyo with all of the speed enhancing fixes and scripts is faster than stock GB.
I haven't tested any ROMs really with GB yet so I can't say, but I don't think there are many speed fixes for it yet...
Most of what you'll hear about GB is placebo effect, tbh. Just wait for OTA GB.
Stock EP1W (GB) is pretty snappy. I personally haven't had a single FC or reboot as of yet. This is supposedly the 'official' GB build.
Also I believe the soon to be released Gummy GBE 2.0 as well as DarkSlide ROMs are going to be based off the EP1W framework.
You really won't notice much difference between the two, but Froyo with speed tweaks scores much higher in Quadrant of that's your kind of thing.

u should try out EP1W if only for ****s & giggles.
Feels like a different animal..
I just cane back to froyo on humble 1.6 from the EP1w gb leak, and I have to say that I really like the feel of GB so far. With supercharged v7 running, the phone felt very snappy, never had a random reboot, and performance was all around great.
The main thing that brought me back to FROYO was the fact that the GPS fix hasn't (to my knowledge) made it to GB yet. I use my GPS a lot, and I couldn't stand going back to waiting over a minute for a lock.
Bow that I am back on froyo I am noticing the same inconsistent signal strength that frustrated me in the first place... so I will probably go back to GB soon. Battery life, signal strength and overall feel are nice on GB, but the call quality suffers with the new modems.

EP1W is *much* better than EP1F. F was quite buggy and slow. I tried it briefly and then quickly went back to EE4. Q was quicker. It still had a few minor bugs, but I used it as my daily driver. W is butter. It's a dream to use and it is most certainly release quality. I've yet to run into anything I recognize as a bug. If you care about Quadrant, I'm getting between 1600 and 1750 on EP1W, with or without ext4. As I said before, it just feels smoother than anything else. The default brown theme is horrible, but I've managed to get rid of most of it with UOT.

I haven't had any GPS problems on EP1W. I did have slow locks on EE4 sometimes, but haven't had any on EP1W. The lock often beats Google Maps drawing. One thing I do use is GPS Status to keep A-GPS up to date, but I did that in EE4 as well.

I have been running GUmmyCharged 1.9.1 froyo for a while now and looking to upgrade to gingerbread. I have been very happy with gummycharged, although battery life could be better. Would you all recommend switching to Humble 3.1 gingerbread or sticking with GummyCharged 2.0 RC?
is there anything special i need to know if i decided to flash from gummy to humble?
Thanks in advance. THis is the best forum for android users. hands down.
I was on Gummy 1.9.1 for months and absolutely loved it.
I got bored one day at work however & decided to try a GB ROM. The TBH leak had just come out, so I decided to try that. I flashed to that with the latest imoseyon kernel. Other than the colors being kinda ugly, it worked super.
A few days ago, I odined the latest Humble GB ROM just for kicks. Other than the fact that it's better looking, I can tell almost no difference whatever between the two setups.

Stay with gummycharged. To my experience, gummycharged does not have as good a battery life as humble but there are subtle things that keep me with gummycharged.
I prefer imnut's TW4 build of EP1W over either Gummy or Humble, at the moment, though I'll probably try Humble again when he gets the full battery notification removed.
TW4 is very, very lean, and very quick.

I refuse to use Humble for personal reasons.
The claims that Humble has better battery life are completely unfounded. All in all, they are the same speed and battery life, it's just a matter of what interface you like best.

Thank you all for the response. I will probably stick with Gummy.
I have used both..Humble 3.1 is very stable, battery life is excellent Quadrant scores were consistently in the 2000 range, and I have experienced no issues so far.
Gummycharged 2.0RC1.5 was very quick also, very smooth but had syncing issues and I had some random fc's..its a matter of preference

I would recommend trying both out for a week. That's what I did with humble 3.0. 2 days ago I switched to gummy 2.0 RC 1.5.
So far I prefer humble, I did a have very noticeably improved battery life over gummy, it also was alot smoother and real world use was extremely fast. I like the customization available for gummy but it looks like ill be going back to humble unless a new build of gummy comes out.
On another note I still use the ee4 modem. I am experiencing the same crackle that is notorious with the EP modems, but my 4g remains more consistent and the transition to 3g isn't noticeable at all. Hope this will help.

i would have to agree with this guy ^^^
SS v5 is the best rom hands down, dopest dope you've ever smoked
I get at least 40+ hours of moderate use, and only have to charge every other day.
CM7 nightlies Scary Kernel Stable because it's the fastest most up to date rom with the best battery life.
Mik 1.6, smooth and functional... no custom Kernel as of yet though.
I run a newer cm7 nightly. I used to run shift deck which is really close to stock AOSP which is what I want but it hasn't been updated in ages so I went with CM7 which does have a few bells and whistles (some call it bloat) on top of stock AOSP like ADW launcher and a few things like that but for the most part it still feels like an AOSP rom and you can very easily set it up to look and feel exactly like AOSP.
I am using the stock kernels that come with the roms now. They have overclock options and seem fine. I have used scary stable but didn't notice any difference so I don't bother any more.
I really like Sense roms as I feel they are more fluid mostly when swiping between home screens but I cannot stand that there is about a 5 minute timer on the notification light before it shuts off even if you haven't cleared the notification. I rely on that light while I am at work so I have to stick with an AOSP ROM that flashes the light indefinitely until I clear it. I can also set the light to flash orange or green depending on which notification I am receiving which I find handy for text messages which I place a larger priority over than say a Wordfeud notification while I am at work
I usually do one cycle of charge fully, wipe battery stats, discharge completely until phone shuts off then recharge fully whenever I flash a new ROM and I haven't noticed any better or worse battery based on which ROM I have used.
How's battery life on Mik 1.6???

What exactly are you waiting on? Do you mean you just haven't rooted? Because you can now Root GB Shift's by downgrading to Froyo. Check HERE and HERE. Either of those threads will get you rooted if your on GB . As for MikShifted G v1.6 by aamikam, it is an excellant Rom . You should also check out Supreme Sense V5, by strapped365. It's based off MikShifted G , with a lot more eye candy . Both of those are Smooth, Stable, and quick. I have both of those running on serveral different devices with NO issues. Still waiting on the Source Code Kernel to be able to overclock. But both of those run excellent without being overclocked ( this coming from a SPEED Junkie ) .

I'm not saying scary stable is bad. But for MY shift
Scary average battery temp - 136°
PershootV9 average - 101°
Big difference. That's when im actually using my phone, i multitask a lot.
Scary kernel - while playing my game online ill lose connection about once every 5 minutes
PershootV9 - never lost connection once, only like 2 or 3 lag bumps
Battery life for appears to be about equal give or take maybe an hour.

That is strange. My battery is at 87F right now, but that's with light use. I'll monitor that.

My multitask can sometimes mean multiplayer gaming, phone calls, music, going. Between downloads, texts.. A whole lot

Hi all. Just wanted to say that I got my new Charge today and love it. I put the leaked gingerbread rom from tbh on there and I think it's great. I could have waited for the nexus or gotten a bionic, but price was a huge deciding factor for me. Performance is on par with the bionic. Nice little machine for a cheap price (from amazon).

Flash humble 5.0 , it's even faster!

I noticed that the humble rom had some prerequisites.
Where and how can I install the imoseyon kernel?
Thanks.

Only the CWM has prereqs. The Odin version is all-in-one.
Yep download the Odin file and flash it. It contains everything you will need (kernal, radios, and obviously the rom itself) and you will enjoy your phone even more. The kernal included in the file also supports overclocking if you are into doing that as well.

I just ordered a Charge too. Should be here tomorrow or Monday!
I sure hope my reception on Verizon is better than Sprint has been lately.
I will says of all the ROMS, the EE4 versions are the more stable. I am using the EE4 gummy rom. The gingerbread ROM usually involved random reboots at least once a day.

I got constant random reboots on EE4 whether it was stock or rooted. On GB, the only roms I get reboots on are TSM Parts roms (Gummy and Infinity).

Humble is no faster than the TBH leak set up correctly (I have tried both). TBH plus the CoreDroid theme is better looking than Humble also IMHO.
I am using the TBH setup, imoseyon 4.0 kernel, fuju tweaks, etc etc etc & it is EVERY BIT as fast as any Humble ROM. It hit 2400 in Quadrant and is the fastest smoothest setup I have ever used.

After playing with this phone for a few days I think it's safe to say I made the right choice in getting this over the bionic. Saved over $100 and this thing flies! The devs on this forum are amazing.

Believe me, you made the right choice.
I owned a Bionic briefly, other than the dual processor the Charge is better in every possible way. The screen on the Bionic is absolutely hideous compared to the Charge.....
The new Razr screen isn't real great either.

Almost every thing looks like crap compared to this phone's screen. That was one of the main reasons I chose it over the HTC Thunderbolt.
