So I'm bouncing back and forth between gummy and humble but i've yet to leave froyo. Is there a difference in performance between froyo and gingerbread... For roms not stock.?
Stock GB is faster than stock EE4 Froyo.
Froyo with all of the speed enhancing fixes and scripts is faster than stock GB.
I haven't tested any ROMs really with GB yet so I can't say, but I don't think there are many speed fixes for it yet...
Most of what you'll hear about GB is placebo effect, tbh. Just wait for OTA GB.
Stock EP1W (GB) is pretty snappy. I personally haven't had a single FC or reboot as of yet. This is supposedly the 'official' GB build.
Also I believe the soon to be released Gummy GBE 2.0 as well as DarkSlide ROMs are going to be based off the EP1W framework.
You really won't notice much difference between the two, but Froyo with speed tweaks scores much higher in Quadrant of that's your kind of thing.

But if you ignore benchmarks and just go by feel, GB beats the hell out of any Froyo rom.

I didn't notice any speed differences. If anything, GB was slower than Froyo. But then again, the last GB version I tried was EP1F.

u should try out EP1W if only for ****s & giggles.
Feels like a different animal..
I just cane back to froyo on humble 1.6 from the EP1w gb leak, and I have to say that I really like the feel of GB so far. With supercharged v7 running, the phone felt very snappy, never had a random reboot, and performance was all around great.
The main thing that brought me back to FROYO was the fact that the GPS fix hasn't (to my knowledge) made it to GB yet. I use my GPS a lot, and I couldn't stand going back to waiting over a minute for a lock.
Bow that I am back on froyo I am noticing the same inconsistent signal strength that frustrated me in the first place... so I will probably go back to GB soon. Battery life, signal strength and overall feel are nice on GB, but the call quality suffers with the new modems.

EP1W is *much* better than EP1F. F was quite buggy and slow. I tried it briefly and then quickly went back to EE4. Q was quicker. It still had a few minor bugs, but I used it as my daily driver. W is butter. It's a dream to use and it is most certainly release quality. I've yet to run into anything I recognize as a bug. If you care about Quadrant, I'm getting between 1600 and 1750 on EP1W, with or without ext4. As I said before, it just feels smoother than anything else. The default brown theme is horrible, but I've managed to get rid of most of it with UOT.

I haven't had any GPS problems on EP1W. I did have slow locks on EE4 sometimes, but haven't had any on EP1W. The lock often beats Google Maps drawing. One thing I do use is GPS Status to keep A-GPS up to date, but I did that in EE4 as well.

so sup guys. I'm getting my charge tomorrow as a replacement for this fascinate which I loved especially the devs. But seeing all these problems with the roms I'm guessing staying stock might be my best guess. If any of you have had problems that make a rom unusable or haven't had any problems at all I would love to hear from you

I tell you its so easy to flash back to start it would be worth it to flash a rom period. Now that said I am on Humble 1.4 from with voodoo kernel, and there is no problems at at. Everything in this rom is butter smooth. I wouldn't worry about what people say about different roms. If you listen to what everyone says, then you might be scared of everything.
Enjoy the phone
I came from the Fassy as well I received my Charge today. Its as easy to root as the Fassy and I have had no problems with the humble Rom yet.
They do have the odin to get back to stock, but its all your comfort level.
Also you will see some familiar faces in the development forum here.

I rooted my Charge with the Humble Odin package within 24 hours of getting it. I haven't had a problem yet and am undeniably pleased with the performance of my phone.
All the issues I've had have been operator error when trying to upgrade to newer versions (which was twice, and I swear I'm going to remember to disable voodoo next time lolol).
Thanks for the quick input guys. I'm pretty Co.fortable I flashed the balls off my fascinate(even managed to permanently brick once - phone turned on to orange screen and that was all) lolol seems like humbles the way to gO. I can't wait for official legit MIUI.

I came from a fascinate myself. Ive tried almost every rom with almost every kernel. I was getting quad scores of upper 1600s with humble 1.4 and imnuts 709 kernel and i over clocked it to 1.4. The battery life was twice of my fascinate on that set up. About 3-4 hrs of hard use. I'm about customizing though. I now use gummy gb with a theme. The quad scores are mid 1200s. These are what Ive found to be the best and have little to no flaws. Hope this helps.

If I was you, I would probably wait until Friday and flash the release that danalo is coming out with for Humble (Froyo). 1.4 seems to have some minor bugs that you may want to avoid that should be completely ironed out in the next release of Humble. The GB roms don't appear to have the maturity to get past some of the weird bugs such as terrible battery life and reduced LTE speeds so I would probably stay away from them for now.
Humble with animations off and LCD density set back to 240 has been running perfectly for me.

That's true I now remember people complaining of getting 30% of normal lte speeds. I think I'm sticking with stock rom for now.( I'm gonna miss my Netflix though.

I've been running gb for a few days now and have no bugs at all. The battery is almost the same has humble froyo. The only catch with humble 1.4 that I found was no gb keyboard. To solve that you go to titanium back up before flashin 1.4 backup gb keyboard flash 1.4 then back to titanium to restore gb keyboard.
Gingerbread or froyo!? Which do u prefer and why?
For now I prefer Froyo. The GB is unpolished to my eye. I have run both and always go back to lightning fast GummyCharged FE.
GB really slowed my lte speed like about 1/3. There are a few visual tweaks on GB but nothing to write home about. Also it seemed kinda sluggish.
You really don't gain any functionality on GB. Froyo is solid on the charge.
GC FE works really good with lots of nice themes for it.

Your speeds are exactly the same. You looking at your speed test results and your mind is playing tricks on you. Speedtest isn't working right on gingerbread. Go to speakeasy.com instead and see what I mean.

If you are basing your opinion on the GB leak for the charge and you notice no loss of lte speed, that is great. I would have stuck on GB if that was the case.
My lte slowed dramatically on GB then instantly got good when I reverted back to froyo. This is based on speakeasy.net results. Also not only with speedtests but when dl files, apps and webpages, it was friggin slow.
I have been running GUmmyCharged 1.9.1 froyo for a while now and looking to upgrade to gingerbread. I have been very happy with gummycharged, although battery life could be better. Would you all recommend switching to Humble 3.1 gingerbread or sticking with GummyCharged 2.0 RC?
is there anything special i need to know if i decided to flash from gummy to humble?
Thanks in advance. THis is the best forum for android users. hands down.
I was on Gummy 1.9.1 for months and absolutely loved it.
I got bored one day at work however & decided to try a GB ROM. The TBH leak had just come out, so I decided to try that. I flashed to that with the latest imoseyon kernel. Other than the colors being kinda ugly, it worked super.
A few days ago, I odined the latest Humble GB ROM just for kicks. Other than the fact that it's better looking, I can tell almost no difference whatever between the two setups.

Stay with gummycharged. To my experience, gummycharged does not have as good a battery life as humble but there are subtle things that keep me with gummycharged.
I prefer imnut's TW4 build of EP1W over either Gummy or Humble, at the moment, though I'll probably try Humble again when he gets the full battery notification removed.
TW4 is very, very lean, and very quick.

I refuse to use Humble for personal reasons.
The claims that Humble has better battery life are completely unfounded. All in all, they are the same speed and battery life, it's just a matter of what interface you like best.

Thank you all for the response. I will probably stick with Gummy.
I have used both..Humble 3.1 is very stable, battery life is excellent Quadrant scores were consistently in the 2000 range, and I have experienced no issues so far.
Gummycharged 2.0RC1.5 was very quick also, very smooth but had syncing issues and I had some random fc's..its a matter of preference

I would recommend trying both out for a week. That's what I did with humble 3.0. 2 days ago I switched to gummy 2.0 RC 1.5.
So far I prefer humble, I did a have very noticeably improved battery life over gummy, it also was alot smoother and real world use was extremely fast. I like the customization available for gummy but it looks like ill be going back to humble unless a new build of gummy comes out.
On another note I still use the ee4 modem. I am experiencing the same crackle that is notorious with the EP modems, but my 4g remains more consistent and the transition to 3g isn't noticeable at all. Hope this will help.

ROM has much less impact on battery life than the kernel. The best battery life you're going to get right now is on Froyo with an overclock kernel so that you can undervolt as low as your phone can handle.
I recommend updating your modems to the newest EP3HA leak. I have had much better data connectivity since. If you are in a building that is causing the issue it may or may not help.

I like it actually despite it being a beta however there's still issues one of which is with lagfix/ext4 conversion that soft bricks the phone so stock RFS for now (I should change the sig lol)... its fast enough and the cyan/ICS look is pretty cool, no accurate battery readings yet as I've had to flash it a few times the past few days to test stuff but it seems to be pretty decent
I also managed to grab a beta of Imnuts/TSM Infinity rom for EP3H that I used for a while and that was pretty awesome.. it was smooth, stable and had pretty good battery life, I don't know when they're gonna release as a final rom but it looked done pretty much.. there is an Infinity rom for EP1W though that's the same if you don't mind not having the latest leak lol

Hi all. Just wanted to say that I got my new Charge today and love it. I put the leaked gingerbread rom from tbh on there and I think it's great. I could have waited for the nexus or gotten a bionic, but price was a huge deciding factor for me. Performance is on par with the bionic. Nice little machine for a cheap price (from amazon).

Only the CWM has prereqs. The Odin version is all-in-one.
Yep download the Odin file and flash it. It contains everything you will need (kernal, radios, and obviously the rom itself) and you will enjoy your phone even more. The kernal included in the file also supports overclocking if you are into doing that as well.

Humble is no faster than the TBH leak set up correctly (I have tried both). TBH plus the CoreDroid theme is better looking than Humble also IMHO.
I am using the TBH setup, imoseyon 4.0 kernel, fuju tweaks, etc etc etc & it is EVERY BIT as fast as any Humble ROM. It hit 2400 in Quadrant and is the fastest smoothest setup I have ever used.
