I want to replace wpa_supplicant in system/bin inside of the Update.zip file of a full package Not OTA 3.2 with a copy of wpa_supplicant (Backup from prior version) that adds ad_hoc wifi to the acer Iconia A500
Then Zip it back up and Reinstall, Will that work ?

Is there any way I can get the keyboard apk from our G-Tablets in a apk form and just install it to another device?
I'd like to get this and install it to my Archos 101 when it arrives.. I know there's a zip of the keyboard but I need it in apk form. If anyone knows how I could do this I'd greatly appreciate it.
It's two files - /system/app/TapNTapIME.apk and /system/lib/libjni_tapntapime.so. Rothnic was able to port it to the zPad firmware, so there's a good chance that it could work on the 101.
Of course, you'd need to root the 101 and that might be where you get snagged.
we can temp root the 101. Why do I need root? So I can flash the zip. I can push the lib and flash the apk?
I pulled the IME.apk and the lib file from the gapps pack already

edit* i got the Tap keyboard zip in case the Archos 101 gets clockwork
I'm going to be trying this Today on the Archos 101 with Temp root.
adding the tapntapIME.so to libs, as well as the APK to system and see if it works.. Do I need ADB to push the APK, or can I move it with root explorer
edit* Nope. the Archos system/ is write protected so I can't copy the libs and apk into it.. yet!

unzip it in pc remove bootanimation.zip from it and copy to your SD card
1. Using any root explorer app, rename (or delete, just make sure you have a backup) the 'samsungani' file to located in /system/bin
2. Rename the file 'bootanimation' (also located in /system/bin) to 'samsungani'
3. Now put the bootanimation.zip of your choice in /system/media folder
In some cases the samsungani will not be available so replace with samsungloop

I have rooted both my Samsung Replenish and my Acer A500, installed the Wifi Tether AND the Wireless Tether apps, tried both, but my A500 did not recognize them at all.

Which has a modified wpa_supplicant file.
I downloaded it,
turned off wifi,
unzipped it,
and using Root Explorer, renamed the old wpa_supplicant in the /system/bin/ folder,
then copied the modified wpa_supplicant to that same folder,
changed the permissions on the modified file to 755 (rwxr-xr-x),
rebooted my A500,
re-enabled wifi, and there it was.
I was able to connect and browse just fine.

CWM install wasn't successfull
I also tried to copy Bravia.zip to root of devices filesystem via ADB plugin in Total Commander. When copying was finished, device was robootet but Bravia Engine wasn't appeared in display settings.
Is it possible to install zipped updates this way or unable to install Bravia2.zip to Xperia L at all?
I didnt use modified rom with Bravia engine and other modifications because I read that wifi not working with it...
adb sideload and flashing .zip does not work on stock kernel. Btw, the bravia2.zip(from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2418639) is NOT a flashable zip. I succesfully installed bravia using the following method(on stock rooted .36 firmware):
1) Extract the .zip to your sdcard of your phone
2) download a root explorer(eg:root browser: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree )
3) then in the root explorer on your phone, go to your sdcard in the bravia folder and copy the swiqi.apk(in app) to your phone in the folder \system\app. after placing the file here, long-tab the swiqi.apk and change the permissions to -rw-r-r.
4) repeat this for all the files in the bravi folder. the files in etc. go to \system\etc and the files in lib go to \system\lib(dont forget to change the permissions.
5) now the last step is to mod your build.prop file on your phone. Again use a root explorer to do this. navigate to \system\ there will be a file called build.prop. open it. at the very bottem under all the other lines add these 2 lines:
ro.service.swiqi2.supported=true
persist.service.swiqi2.enable=1
Don't forget to leave an empty space under it, then save the file, reboot, and it should work. I have included a screenshot of my build.prop file.

I accidentally renamed sh file in system/bin/ to sh1, and then I rebooted my Galaxy Tap 2 7.0 P3113. Now I can't rename it to sh back.
And My device isn't rooted anymore. I don't know what should I do. I can't even connect WIFI.
Do you have a backup of the system partition?
Easier Way is to flash Stock with odin, If you don`t have a system backup
Wait! Use Aroma File Manager to rename it in recovery!
