[Q] How do I find out where my ota updates come from? - LG Optimus 3D

I have an O3D with an O2 contract but the rom updates dont come from O2 according to them so is there a way I can identify where they come from as really want the converter update but my update still says latest is v10d.
Phone was bought from online retailer but they dont supply the ota updates either so any ideas are welcome. Thanks.
Dave

Will an Unlocked T mobile One S get OTA directly from HTC?

Hi Guys,
I tried searching the web for this but just couldn't find a concrete answer.
Do carrier related phones still depend on the carrier for OTA updates when unlocked or they receive timely updates directly from the manufacturer?
I am buying an Unlocked T mobile One S here in India obviously because of the superior S4 processor. I read in the forums that the T Mobile Jelly Bean update really messes up the battery life. Hence I was wondering if even I would have the same problem.
So my question is, will my phone in India also get the T Mobile update or the HTC one. Also in the future, would it be receiving all OTA updates from HTC?

No
T-Mobile does not send the file themselves. Your CID, which is probably T-MOB010, is used to decide whether to give you world-wide, unbranded updates or something else. Yours will get the update from T-Mobile, but it will be released from HTC's servers
If you mean a SIM unlocked T-Mobile HTC One S, then yes, it will still receive OTA updates. Mine is SIM unlocked and still got the JB update.
Yes, would the unlocked T Mobile HTC one S have to wait for T Mobile JB update as per United States or since I am using it on Vodafone and in India, it would get the JB update as and when any other HTC One S in India gets it?
Glad if you could help.
Thanks.

Yes you have to wait as T-Mobile modify ota update and test again over there network then release it
It lags 2-3 months
I purchased my s4 HTC One S black
2 month ago from USA but not T-Mobile version it is factory unlocked European version
My opinion try more & you will find same as mine don't buy T-Mobile version when you update them they can be lock again 3g net frequency problem also there

[Q] OTA Updates ?

Hi there, I am in the UK and as my user name suggests I currently have a Moto Razr Maxx which I bought a few years ago, it was an imported phone from outside the UK and because of its non-EFIGS firmware build the OTA updates were withheld leaving me stuck on ICS4.0.4. I am now looking to update my hardware and the Nexus 5 looks the way to go. What I do NOT want is to fall into the same trap again and have another phone that will not get the OTA updates.
I have sourced a nexus 5 reseller (Google claim out of stock for a long time now) but the phone is imported form 'overseas' it is a LG-D821 model which is sold as the 'international' version. Can anyone tell me if the Nexus phone firmware is regionalised like my Motorola or if I will get all the updates without the need to go the route of ROMs etc?

There are only 2 models. North America D820 and RoW D821. None of them are carrier branded, locked or restricted in any way. They all get OTA's exactly as they are intended, no matter where in the world you are.

Lollipop at last

Hi Guys.
I've got a sim-free Note3 and I'm using an O2 sim. Yesterday the Lollipop v5.0 was pushed to my device.
Does anyone know if that means that I'll get a further update to 5.01, 5.02, 5.x sometime soon?
Thanks.
Steve
What is your csc?

If its an O2 phone you get the O2 update .
Sim is nothing to do with updates .
O2 Android 5 has been available for weeks .
Thanks guys. I've no idea what 'csc' is?
It's not an O2 phone, it's sim-free, I just happen to use an O2 sim with it - does that make a difference?
It might have been available for weeks, but it only got pushed to my phone yesterday.
Thanks
Steve
I highly believe we will get Android M update, officially.
@OP: Just enjoy the 5.0 update. There won't be any 5.0.1 or 5.0.2, at least not very soon. Cause 5.0 has been available for a lot of countries for over two months now, and there is absolutely no scene of 5.0.1 or 2, so better believe that those won't come. I am just happy to see that Samsung finally pushed an update which got rid of that delay while clearing recent apps, however that was just release for one country, but I am sure a wider scale of the same will be released soon.
Thanks guys! That's just what I feared. Just shame that such a great phone lags behind other, older models. My wife's Galaxy S4 is on 5.01!
A phone has a number of codes ( as shown in Kies )
Basically if its a O2 supplied phone it will have an O2 code and O2 are the ones that update the firmware if they want to .
Generic non branded as in UK BTU may or may not be in advance or delayed .
Who gets the upgrade first is very varied and over the years its varied from country to country getting first releases . Usually the non branded gets released well before the branded stuff .
Thanks. I'd read that sim-free unbranded phones were always LAST to get updates. It's confusing!

EU model in the UK - software updates

I'm based in the UK and looking to get the Note 9. Prices in the UK are quite high so weighing up whether to go for an EU model from eBay, Tobydeals etc.
Only thing holding me back now is whether getting an EU model will delay getting software updates or cause problems when they do update.
Software updates already take longer than I prefer so don't want to end up with something that just never moves to a newer version of Android.
Anyone have any prior experience with this sort of thing?
Thanks

System update failed

Hi all. I haven't been able to update my phone since I bought it last week. It keeps coming up with system update failed I bought the phone from EE in the UK. I was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem?
Are you trying to do an OTA or local upgrade? , is your bootloader unlocked?, what version are you updating to?
I have tried both local and OTA but no joy. I'm trying to update to 9.5.3. I've spoken to ONEPLUS support but they are as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.
I'm having the exact same issue too. I'm also on EE. Will it be a problem for this update only or all updates going forward?
So I spoke to oneplus support again and this time they gave me a better answer.
As we have the 5G variation of the phone we have to wait for another update as the ones that are getting pushed out now aren't for the 5G variation.
I guess we just have to play the waiting game!
Ahh ok. Thanks for the help mate. Saves me panicking thinking that I have to take my phone back ?? I'll just sit and wait now ?
I have the 5g model from ee and had an update when I first set the phone up.
I am on 9. 5.3
Just waiting for the big update with all the improvements .
I gather the .7 one that's about is just for the standard pro?
Really? I'm still on 9.5.1 and I'm unable to update to 9.5.3. Something weird going on!
