I had a G2 before I had the mytouch 4g slide and I used to be able to change to the next song holding down the Up volume button. I can't do that with the slide, my slide is root and is running the Virtuous rom. Anyone know anything about it?
-thanks
Was your G2 also running Virtuous?
I think (not 100% sure) but the volume up/down music control is a feature that must be implemented into the ROM itself, ie. CM7/MIUI. Sense 3.0 doesn't have that built-in I believe.

I had cm7 on it, never tried it with virtuous though. So im guessing you need the source code to change a simple button function huh -__-...the wait is killing me haha this phone can do a whole lots more!

Hi all, I am using virtuous unity 1.29.0, and I've noticed that it comes along with a native screenshot app that is activated by holding the power button and home button.
I've also noticed that since this is a sense 3.0 rom, it came along with a scribble app made from htc named mysketcher.apk in the app folder.
My question is that is that app responsible for taking screenshots? If yes is it possible to install it on non sense 3.0 roms?
Would appreciate any help given!
Thanks and regards!

Well it would be great to have a native built in one that works by holding the power and home buttons, so I can snap pictures of any application running immediately....

There are plenty of applications from the market that will enable you to do this shootme or drocap2
are both simple to use, although the majority of them require root access

I downloaded my purchase version of the volume boost app however it doesn't work properly like it did with the G2.
When I activate the volume app it does boost the volume but the quality is horrible its not the same as when I turn off the volume booster.
Anyone have any idea what's going on? It works perfectly on the G2, it boost the volume and keeps the same audio quality.

Play around with the settings. My Volume+ app is working perfectly on my Sense on Crack 5.0.0 ROM.

Another vote for Volume+. Without it I couldn't get by with this phone. Audio is simply way to low stock.
The free or paid version?
I tried the free version and it goes up to setting 5 which was almost good enough but then I paid for it and now I run mine at level 7. It just depends on how loud you want it. I wouldn't go any higher than 7 though.

Do you use stock ROM? I've looked at Volume+ in the market and it states upfront they do not recommend using it with a stock ROM, only CM7. I have no desire to replace the stock ROM (though I am rooted).

I've used the paid version with both an AOSP rom and a Sense rom with no problems.

Hi. I recently installed an app called GameKeyboard that would replace the Android keyboard with a D-Pad and configurable buttons so I could play flash games made for PC. However, I was noticing that when I was in the game, holding down the menu key wouldn't pull it out. Then I switched back to the normal Android keyboard, and that doesn't appear when I long hold menu either.
My dad has a ZTE Blade and it pulls out the current keyboard selected when holding down menus, so is there an option somewhere that allows me to turn that functionality on or off, or is this just downright disabled in our devices?
Thanks for your time.
Depends which rom you are running I've noticed. Cm7 does it and has the option to enable/disable actions for software buttons. I can't remember about some of the stock based roms

Doesn't work on 2.3.3 or 2.3.4. Only seems to work on CM7 and MIUI builds.

Hi everyone, I'm currently running clean rom 3.0 de and was wondering if there was a way to skip to the next track using the volume rockers when the screen is off? Also I would like to use the volume rockers as the camera shutter. These were things that I have grown a custom to when I was running CM7 on my nexus one.
Thanks for your feedback

I dont think this is built in to cleanrom right now, but it would be worth mentioning to the dev if you really want it. I know there are some settings like this in most of the AOSP based roms (CM9, AOKP, miui) but I am not sure of specifics
So, this may just be me, but i would like the www/com key to do actually that. Insert either www or com. is there any way i can do that?

He is most likely on an ICS build which does not have that function. It opens the browser, I tried today to change the function in ICS Sense but the only change I made was to make it TAB rather than browser. But there are many threads around here to explain this, maybe one could go at it with a text editor to achieve what they want?

There's a patch coming out in the next CM9 Rom with WWW/.COM working.

Wish I knew what functions they changed the keys to but TAB suites me better because I don't use the www/com function at all

I second the request in this thread, only less bitterly.
I became a little hooked on that function I guess! I'd also love to turn the slide out keyboard's back key to a keypress delete or something and a long press back so I don't lose XDA posts once in a while!
