Hi every one, I keep getting this message every time I use ChevronWP7 for deploying xap files to my Samsung Focus Mango ( 7720 )
sorry, I'm having trouble communicating with the phone
- Please make sure it's connected using USB
- Please start the Zune application
I had the phone connected using USB and the Zune application was started , and still get that message .
please tell me what's wrong !
thanks in advance
I have some problems with HTC Trophy. Maybe programs don't work on Mango?
Chevron does not work on Mango
Its not just Mango.
I downgraded my Omnia7 from Mango Beta to 'UK Retail' Pre-NoDo rom.
And got the same error trying to run ChevronWP7.
Did you also install the certificate? Won't work otherwise. Only on pre NoDo...
yeah forgetting to reinstall the certificate was quite common when I was flashing back to pre nodo backups,
I would check that first then make sure zune is syncing ok.
I installed the Cert before trying ChervronWP7 and when it didn't work.
I sent it to the phone and installed it again. Still got the same error.
I'll try again on the weekend, with the same PC it worked on before (the one I updated to Mango beta on) to see if it makes any difference.

Hello,
When I try to update my Trophy via Zune I always get the "Can't check for updates right now. Please try again later. Your phone can't connect to the Internet because the server's name can't be resolved." error, with code 80072EE7.
I also noticed that this only happens if the wifi and data on my Trophy are off. Shouldn't my phone get Internet via USB and Zune or we must always have wifi on when we want to update ?
Thank you in advance
Anyone, please ?
What version of Windows are you running? Have you've updated Zune? Any mods that you have made to the phone?
Any particular reason why you are trying to update with the data and wifi off?

I am running Windows 7 x64, I have the latest version of Zune and had not done any mods on the phone, it is just developer unlocked.
I have no reason updating with the data and wifi off, just thought it can be done.
same problem here..i'm running w7 32bit.my hd7 won't update?i did hard reset my phone, and reinstalation the zune and still nothing..any help?
Seeing the same exact error code in Zune Update, Windows 7 64bit, Samsung Focus 1.3, OS version 7390. Tried on 2nd PC, same issue.
Connect Focus to my WiFi along with the USB cable tethered to PC, and error goes away.
10/3/2011 update - Works Ok on Windows XP machine I have. Was able to Disable WiFi on Focus and do Mango update trick by unplugging LAN to force find new update available with my ATT Samsung Focus.
I just flashed my Omnia 7 from a T-Mobile branded one to the XXJL3 RETAIL UNITED KINGDOM one but am unable to update past 7008. Any one else running in the same problem?
yeah.. i had the same problem.. i was on uk retail rom and was not getting past 7.0.7008.. heres what i did to get my mango update.
1) flash a nodo rom from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131891 ..
2) u will be on nodo(7389 or 7392) after that
3) next use this guide to update to mango beta 1 (7403 build) http://koolmobile.net/windows-phone-7-mango-7720-rtm-leakedhow-to-install/
4)once 7403 is installed.. zune will automatically give u notification that ur phone will now be updated to final build of 7720(official mang0)
5)after that it again check for updates and then will install samsung updates for correct drivers for ur device..
done!! full official mango in ur device
Will give it a try.Thanks
It seems that the links for the beta mango rom is not available but with the nodo rom its pushing out the 7392 version. Will install that and check if maybe mango pops up on its own
ok quick update. Using the WLAN disconnect trick I seem to have managed to get Zune to detect the 7403 update
Thanks a lot for your help

I'm facing the exact same problem. Flashed German T-Mobile NoDo Omnia 7 16GB to a unbranded 7004 with W7 Downloader. Next, I unlocked the device with Chevron WP7 and installed Samsung Tools to keep the lock when connecting with Zune.
Zune installed the 7008 February update succesfully, but now reports that my phone is up-to-date. What a bummer. Why does it let you update to 7008 and not beyond if the removed all the other update up to Mango!? It's a real bummer
I couldn't even restore the backup made with wpupdater.exe
I have an un-branded Samsung Omnia 7 (Deutsche Telekom I believe). I did the force update for mango and was able to update to 7403 just fine. However, at the last step 2 of 2 of updating to 7720 it gave me the error code 80180048. I do not have a walshed phone because I tried using the walshed fix and the program said my phone wasn't walshed. Any one having this issue or have fix for this? Thanks.
All Languages
I was having a problem with failled Mango update and I discovered I used the Walsh tool wrong. I only selected the language that was "checked" in my keyboard settings and not ALL languages that were available on my phone. Once I selected all languages, the update went flawlessly.

Did you also install the Windows Phone Support Tool? It may be needed for the Walsh Tool.
I have samsung focus (from Rogers Canada) and am facing exactly the same problem, I have reset my phone a couple of times but still receiving the same error, am not sure what to do now, can someone suggest following steps? I don't have walshed phone and walsh tool gave me missing clsid exception.

Samsung Focus has two hardware revisions.
You will not be able to get passed the last steps to update to Mango if you have rev. 1.4
rev 1.3(Micron): Windows 7.5 update will be available through Zune on 9/27.
rev 1.4(LSI) : Update has not entered the AT&T SPE lab yet; however, Samsung is targeting for 10/17 lab entry and 10/31 TA"
you can check which revision you have by pulling out the battery. there should be a revision number on on a white sticker on the device.
I have checked the focus revision number on my phone and it is 1.3, I found that one may use windows phone support tool to solve the issue, but it always gave me the 'the device not in connect to pc mode' error while I am pretty sure the device is infact that mode, so somehow it doesn't see that. I am still confused what to do now?

sounds like a USB driver issue.
open Device Manager
open Zune
plug in the phone into the USB
In the device manager you should see Windows Phone USB Device at the very bottom come in.
Double click and double click Windows Phone USB. Got to Driver tab and make sure it reads Deiver Version 4.8.2345.0
if you have something older, uninstall the driver, unplug the phone, then plug it back in and hopefully it will pick up the new one.
I have exactly the same problem as Starsyde.
Forced update managed to get me through to 7403 and then on step 2 of 2 I get error 80180048. Tried at least 6 or 7 times and always get the same result.
My phone is also an Omnia 7 (bought it unlocked but has the Orange UK logo and apps preloaded).
It's not Walshed (I didn't even have an idea what that even meant until a couple hours ago but still tried that tool, just in case - it says "Good news, your phone isn't Walshed!") and the Windows Phone Support Tool says the phone's not in a "Connect to PC state", even though it is.
To sum up: nothing works.
Oh, almost forgot: I then saw the post about the USB drivers, it's version is 4.8.2148.0 but it says it's the last version so it won't update, and when I unsinstalled it, it automatically installed the same version.

odd, the latest drivers are 4.8.2345.0 and these were installed a week before Mango was released to prepare the phones for Mango. Not sure why it would give you an older USB driver....
I updated the USB driver but the problem stays the same, not sure what else could be done

I'm been have the same problem with a samsung focus v1.3, i've tried everthing i could find, but nothing worked. I hope someone has an answer to what causing this.
I've reflashed the phone with both the rogers and at&t roms(many times) but can only get to 7403.
Also i have tried 4 different computers, one was ever XP.
i am getting the same update error with my Branded HTC HD7
Same error Omnia 7.
Posted it at MS forums: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...-omnia-7/779a50b6-2080-40da-b106-c8b365c25372
Edit: Fixed mine by reverting back to 7392 and fixing a couple of registry values for language packs. I wanted to remove the ones I didn't need. That created the conflict. Now I'm on Mango!

Not to be insulting, but did you try the Walsh Tool and select ALL languages that are on your phone. Most people who have gotten to the end of the MANGO update and failed with this error code fixed this with the Walsh Tool. Please don't dismiss it out of hand, it has solved this error code issue with a lot of people.

Just to add to this, my brother inlaws focus, which i flashed with the rogers rom(It was a gift), installed the mango update yesterday morning. His phone is identical to mine.

Hey guys , i swear i just saw this the other day , but after searching , i cannot find it . How do I get back from Official Mango to Nodo ?
Also , I would like to make a backup , but the program i used to get on the Mango betas is no longer working . What is the preferred method of backing up in case something goes wrong ? I remember having to have Zune 4.7 installed to do anything before , is that still the case?
Whenever i try running my backup tool i get a message saying my Windows Phone Support Tools must be updated to VER 4.8 . Im pretty confused as to how i get back to nodo . Thanks for any help you guys can supply me with .
Ok, the falling-over-easy way to restore a backup is go into the Zune software, Settings -> Phone -> Update. There's a button there to restore the update.
If there isn't a button there, your backup was put somewhere unexpected. It needs to be under "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows Phone Update" for Zune to see it.
The "backup at any time" tool still works, but you do have to make sure you have the correct component versions. Microsoft no longer ships UpdateWP.exe, but you can still find downloads of it online. You need matching versions of UpdateWP.exe (from the v1 of Windows Phone Support Tools, *NOT* the v2) and Zune.
Hey man , after MANY hours of trying to get Mango Interop Unlocked and talking to Heathcliff74 ... here is where im at :
I am currently at 7403 Interop Unlocked . I followed Heathcliffs directions to a T . I will post them here and let you know where i had my issue .
Download U2M7720 v1.2 by Ansar. Install it on your Nodo Device and run it.
In the U2M7720 app tap on "U2B2
Then tap "OK" (circled button at bottom).
Then tap "Done".
Then tap "Unlock" (this will apply Interop Unlock).
Now update your device to 7403 Beta, using Zune.
When the update is finished, open Connection Setup (you can download it from the marketplace if you don't have it).
Tap on "OK".
Open the U2M7720 app again.
Tap on "U2B2".
Tap on "OK".
Tap on "Done".
Tap on "Unlock" (this will reapply Interop Unlock).
Update to Mango RTM, using Zune.
When the update is ready, open Connection Setup again.
Tap on "OK".
Open the U2M7720 app again.
Tap "DoNotU2B2".
Tap on "OK".
Let Zune update again.
When Zune is ready, open Connection Setup for the last time and tap "OK".
The underlined part is where i am having issues . After getting to 7403 , i sideload Connection setup , because while it was in my official mango market , it was not there when i rolled back to nodo . After i do all the steps he said , i go to update via zune to get back to mango rtm ....and it only gives me the option to go to 7720 final build . Initially , i did that and had my homebrew stop working . Didnt shoot up exception error .. just autoclosed apps , and told me U2M7720 was revoked by MS and i should uninstall it .
I reverted back and now i am interop unlocked on 7403 ... how do i get to mango rtm so i can finish the steps? Thanks for all your help. Both of you guys are awesome .

Yea, Heathcliff74 knows his stuff, No question. If your getting "Revoked" apps message, your unlock failed or you hit your App limit (Dev unlock EDU gets 3 sideload, Dev, $99 gets 10). This can happen after rolling back or other updates.
Re-unlock your phone and make sure you put in the reg keys for unlmited sideload and prevent re-lock. That should get you up and running.
You should not need the RTM version any more(your a Verizon user, same as me) as you can't get it any more. The "retail" version is pretty much the EXACT same thing accept for the firmware (7720.68 is 7720.68, just the firmware and radio gets updated on our Trophys).
If you follow the process of using the Connection setup and running after every upgrade(replacing the proxml file after every use), it should give you a Interop unlock with unlimited sideload, like I have.
The upgrade to Mango "Final" works the same way as Mago RTM does. It will upgrade you 2-3 times depending on the version your on.
What are you trying to do ? Getting back to NoDo would only be good if you didn't get a correct unlock and you want to attempt to fix it but, I don't see any other reason to get back besides that.
I rolled back to nodo because I think my unlock was lost when I got to mango . So I rolled back and have now made my way back to 7403 interop unlocked . You're saying from here I simply update to official mango via Zune ,then run connection setup when mango update completes ?
Also .. What do I edit to get unlimited sideloads ? And what are the keys ? I would have to do that prior to the mango update right ? Sorry for all the questions ,but I'm so close I can taste it haha , and you're the only person I know tat has pulled this off on Verizon.

did you successfully updated it? Im having problem with my zune, coz it says, "cannot check updates at this time". they might be preparing an update. but... still not sure if i will still keep my phone. Maybe i will sell it later.
Use the cab sender method. It worked great for me.
So I used the disconnect internet trick and got Tango to install on my phone. Problem is, it stopped with the 3 updates and did not install (or find) the Samsung one that I know was supposed to be installed (for firmware), so my firmware is now 2103.11.10.1 instead of what it is supposed to be.
Does anyone know a way to force the OEM firmware to be sent to Zune. The internet disconnect trick isn't work now, so I'm stuck. Also, my backups aren't showing up, even though during the update process it said it was creating a backup (for all the OS updates it installed all the way up to 8773).
If there is no way to get the OEM firmware to be pushed, does anyone know how to get the Focus Flash to stock? I know I have a backup on my computer, but Zune isn't recognizing it (I had forced 8107 on my phone, and Zune made a backup of that ROM).

Top tip!
Hi,
Just reset your phone, format it and then go on with setting up your windows live id. Once fully synchronised, then switch over to zune and go to settings and press forget this phone, after which just connect your phone and you'll get all the updates steady!
Worked well for my Omnia W here at Dubai.

Just Get the TANGO Update....... (Samsung omnia w{DEV UNLC})
There is no reason to update Omnia W, ver 8107 already have all the things, at least unbranded versions.
Next step for Omnia W is 7.8
