I still want to keep the sense feature and some of tmobiles app that I always use, I just want to remove some stock apps that's taking the memory so much and I don't use them plus they said overclocking will decrease lagging of the phone

Can I use that on factory stock phone or I have to root ? Sorry for a noob question.

You need to root your phone to either freeze the apps via Titanium or by ViperBloat
Rooting your phone is really a good thing to do as it open your phone to changing, modifying and adding certain apps

Jhobert, I advise you to read and get very familiar with the process as it could brick your phone. Brick means that it won't work at all no matter what you do.
Just wanted to warn you and advise you to do a lot of reading.

I would suggest downloading and flashing one of the NO-SENSE scripts in the Dev section or using ViperBloat to remove all the uneeded bloatware!

Thanks for the advice, been reading the steps on how to root and flash and its still confusing to me maybe its because I'm a noob and not a techy guy. Been having confusion on the terms they are using like the kernels, Rom, etc.

Can you UNINSTALL the bloatware apps or will that mess things up?
Also, where is ViperBloat? I am searching the dev forums but don't see it, unless it is a very old thread.

VISIONary.apk will not turn s=off, you have to manually do it.
There are several threads in the Development section on this.

NOTHING will appear to have changed when rooting a phone. The only difference is you will notice a "super user" icon appear on the screen. Has a little Android Head and Cross-bones. What exactly are you expecting it to do or look like?
The head and crossbones but it doesn't show up

It's just stuck saying rooting device please wait. I swear it did it in less than a minute last night and know it just hangs there

To learn how to flash a rom you first need to learn to search. Look at the sticky in the Inspire 4G General section. It will teach you how to flash a Rom.

The same way you got CM7 of course.

Thanks but i read sticky and i need it put into more simple terms...
And i didnt install cm7 myself. I had someone else do it

Then even after you get help doing it, I would suggest you read up and try and uderstand what you are doing. You very well could end up having a brick that you can't do anything with except look at.
Miui is VERY buggy and cap, don't bother. Looks amazing but I'm back on CM7 after trying two different MIUI versions last night.

seems to work for thousands of others....
SEE YA!
I was actually really impressed with MIUI. I thought I was going to hate it because of the iphoneish look to the UI so I never bothered to try it but once I did it impressed me & I got the best benchmarks & speed tests out of it than any other rom. But I love my VU & sense :')

read all this and u will figure out
Go through the guides on the index thread in the desire s development section.
Also read the tips on how to avoid bricking.
If done correctly, totally safe. Depends on your experience n patience too I guess. U haven't mentioned what version hboot etc you have which is the starting point.
Re your recovery thread, Google it or search xda, there's also a glossary...

Thx so much my hboot is 0.98.0002
Does revolutionary requires administrator to run? Cuz I don't hv the admin rights x( is there any method that I can bypass that? Sorry if this sound stupid
You will be fine with revolutionary,it's. What I used to do mine straight from virgin. it will S-off then drop the file you download from the site on the SD card and flash it to get root

Use a file explorer (like es file browser) and mine are located under clockwork/backup even though I use 4ext.
Sent from my Sensation using Tapatalk
You can also do the same thing if using a USB cable or SD adapter on a computer. Just navigate to clockwork/backup. Each backup has it's own folder.
