VISIONary.apk will not turn s=off, you have to manually do it.
There are several threads in the Development section on this.

NOTHING will appear to have changed when rooting a phone. The only difference is you will notice a "super user" icon appear on the screen. Has a little Android Head and Cross-bones. What exactly are you expecting it to do or look like?
The head and crossbones but it doesn't show up

It's just stuck saying rooting device please wait. I swear it did it in less than a minute last night and know it just hangs there

I'm wanting to install cwm, but Im running KG4 2.3.4 stock rooted. I found ways but have to be running froyo. Is there a way to install it while running gb? If not which is the best method of going back to froyo to install it. Thanks in advanced. I'm usually not one to ask for help, but this is my first Samsung. I have/had alot of htc phones and that's what I'm used to. If some1 wouldn't mind helping I've been to the Bible page. Just need to be pointed in the right direction now. Thanks again.
Edit. Just seen there was a sticky tab in the q&a thread... So now my question is sense I already have that rom installed can I just start at the step of installing the kernel? Or should I do it all over?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
When in doubt, do it over. You should just be able to install a kernel like Bali however, that has CWM built in.

Since you already have Gbread installed you just need to install a kernel with CWM.

Kg4 voodoo kernel is the only gingerbread compatible kernel with cwm voodoo built in.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I think I actually suggested that in my first post. Bali kernel carries the built in CWM.

You need to root your phone to either freeze the apps via Titanium or by ViperBloat
Rooting your phone is really a good thing to do as it open your phone to changing, modifying and adding certain apps

Jhobert, I advise you to read and get very familiar with the process as it could brick your phone. Brick means that it won't work at all no matter what you do.
Just wanted to warn you and advise you to do a lot of reading.

I would suggest downloading and flashing one of the NO-SENSE scripts in the Dev section or using ViperBloat to remove all the uneeded bloatware!

Can you UNINSTALL the bloatware apps or will that mess things up?
Also, where is ViperBloat? I am searching the dev forums but don't see it, unless it is a very old thread.

read all this and u will figure out
Go through the guides on the index thread in the desire s development section.
Also read the tips on how to avoid bricking.
If done correctly, totally safe. Depends on your experience n patience too I guess. U haven't mentioned what version hboot etc you have which is the starting point.
Re your recovery thread, Google it or search xda, there's also a glossary...

Does revolutionary requires administrator to run? Cuz I don't hv the admin rights x( is there any method that I can bypass that? Sorry if this sound stupid

I have rooted my phone revolutionary method and i tried factory reset to unroot but i guess that doesnt work
i tried SuperOneClick but it just stops during unroot and wont continue process
does anyone have step by step instructions on how to remove root?
btw im on stock ROM.
Thanks!!
There's no true way to rid your phone of root, as S=OFF (Security flags are off).
Not even flashing the PDIMG59.zip image will remove the S=OFF.

S-OFF is permanent.
S-ON to S-OFF is a one way trip.
Nothing you can do about this.

Hi I had to send my HTC inspire 4g back in for warranty purposes so I had to go back to stock to send it in.
I rooted it when I first got the phone and iT was on froyo and I have been looking through the forums but I see a lot of rooting formats for froyo. I don't want to try one of these and brick my phone so can anyone tell me how to root on 2.3 please?
