so what do u guys think about the iphone 4s? seems like only now apple caught up to the game......8mp cam? sensation check......duo core? sensation check......1080p vid recording? sensation check..........4g speed? sensation check....iphone 4s? fail.
any thoughts against out beloved sensation? just based on specs?
I lost it at "duo core".
The iPhone's camera and GPU are significantly better than the Sensation's. They also can both do 14.4 Mbps down and 5.76 Mbps up. Everything else is pretty much comparable though.
why???????? yet another pointless thread is this what xda has become there is an iphone 4s vs *** in EVERY Forum now.....
I just came from an iPhone 4. I love them both honestly. I just love smart phones in general.
You need to ask yourself what are you expecting your phone to do for you? Are you on T-Mobile, and if so, expect a terrible web, downloading, and YouTube experience with your Edge only data speeds. Hope you have WiFi everywhere you go. Unlocking and using the Gevey SIM etc. all a hassle. You can somewhat customize the iPhone if it's Jailbroken, but it's nothing like Android customizing. Forget about watching Flash videos on the iPhone, cause they still haven't allowed it. The plus to the iPhone 4 is the amazing camera. I don't care how many megapixels any Android device has, the iPhone's 5 MP camera blows em all away! The iPhones Retina display puts any Android phone to shame too. iPhones apps are genErally better, and there are more of them. Apple products are built better, and honestly the OS is really well put together and easier to use.
The Sensation is faster, more customizable with tons of ROM's, and more being cooked up daily. HTC makes solid devices and are always cutting edge with the newest of everything technologically.
Again, what's most important to you? My decision to come back to the Sensation was not having 4G, or even 3G. Maybe if the iPhone 4S comes to T-Mobile I will try one again. T-Mobile has micro SIM cards at the retail stores now, looks pretty promising to me??

People just want to know what to bring up in RL discussions with those iPhone-fanboys...
I've never owned an iPhone 4, but have spent lots of time playing with them. I honestly like the way the os looks, a lot more, in comparison with android. The experience just feels like more care and attention to detail is put into it. The home screens are also a lot smoother in general. Using the phone is just more fluid in general. And yeah, the camera and screen are awesome.
However, I still love my Sensation. I like the customization ability, the larger screen, and the fact that I regain some of the fluidity and better ui, with launchers and whatnot. I'd take my Sensation over an iPhone.

If u want a iphone 4s, just get a stronger battery, andv flash miui roms or miui launcher.

If 4s had the same screen size as Sensation or at least 4" I'd have it any time over Sensation. Hardware goodness + highly polished and smooth UI = win. I prefer Sense though....

Agreed, another reason I retired my I4, screen size sucks! Imagine our Sensations with the Retina display??? I would give a pinky for a larger Iphone screen. Still, my Sensation is amazing.

No, no, no, I love T-Mobile, I am on T-Mobile here in CA with my Sensation. I am saying you can't even get 3G on an unlocked iPhone on T-Mobile, you can only get Edge. Not bagging on T-Mobile, just can't handle only having Edge on the iPhone, it kills the whole iPhone experience. I need my 4G, so I ditched it.

The SAMSUNG MOBILE UNPACKED 2011 event will be held on October 18th in HongKong.
The device has a curved display similar to the Nexus S. Download the SAMSUNG MOBILE UNPACKED Application for more details
You see, several sources are now confirming Nexus Prime will most likely run a dual-core 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4460 CPU along with 1280 x 720 Super AMOLED display.
It is likely to have 4.6-inch screen with 320 ppi which looks beastly enough against iPhone 4S’ 3.5-inch 960 x 640 326-ppi retina display.
Have a look at the recent shots of the Nexus Prime

I would be surprised if Samsung didn't put their Exynos in it.
But either way that design is quite revolutionary for a cell phone. It looks so sick. And knowing it's from Samsung, the quality will br top notch.

Im with you.. I used to jump from HTC to another
HTC Pro -> HTC Hero - > HTC Google N1
and I wanted another HTC but at least in my 3G band frequency (850) the best option in the market was IMO the Galaxy S (at the time I got it) and now the Galaxy S2 which I have. Everything was perfect (except no flash on the S and slowness I didnt know existed until using a dual core cell) but I still missed and currently miss the HTC feel to the cell phones with their designs and metal body at least on the N1.
I cant wait for the Nexus Galaxy or is it Nexus Prime after all? Im gonna go from my S2 to that once the price is right

I use Hellfire pheonix with Trinity 1500mhz kernal. Its a monster now. Having stock is a bummer for any device. Some hate bulky sense. Some hate the ugly moto blur. Many get bored of touchwiz and that's just ui. Once you free your device it's a matter of hardware and manufacturers willingness to cough up source. LG is stingy with source but that hasn't stopped the devs. We still get good stuff. Thank them! Look at the hardware and decide based on that is my opinion. (If you plan on flashing roms that is)
"I'm just a hat tryin to get ahead"-whozilla.

I would advise you to keep it simply because you will not get much in return for it. In fact, LG has officially discontinued the G2x and Tmo has sent out an internal message that they will no longer sell or support this phone. In addition, current customers will not be given any refunds. Exchanges for the G2x will ONLY be the My Touch 4g -which LG claims is comparable. I do not see the My Touch 4g being worth it. However, as you will likely hear from others in the forum, with the right ROM (and that means different things to different people), the G2x is still a fantastic phone. Most GB based roms are running very smoothly and there are a few ICS roms running pretty well that are still being tweaked. I'm pretty satisfied with mine since I rooted it.....best of luck to you thought!
There are some better phones, but it's a good phone for it's price. You can't ask too much for a $200 phone, but it works like a $300 or even $400 one
Thanks everyone for replying, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't hardware that made the g2x suck. I agree I do like sense and am currently running a sense rom. I am also debating my touch 4G slide. Both are around the same price.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA
If your gonna choose tmobile the g2x is a hell of a good phone, even better when rooted and custom rom'd from xda!
The one gripe i only ever had was it coulda used at least 1gb of ram which would have future proofed it till at least the g4x/ one s came thru, still thats a minor complaint and i still love owning my g2x as a backup phone. Dont think ill ever sell it just cuz it is too beast of a phone to get rid of and my kids also cant get enough of it lol

It's alright, could be better though. If you're looking for a 100% reliable phone, then this one might not be for you.
I previously had the Nexus S which on paper is inferior to this phone. That being said, this phone in reality is buggy, I have had issues with it on multiple ROMs, the camera pictures are quite poor, and the battery drains quite fast (not overclocked)
The good is the 4G which I enjoy the faster speeds, and even though the camera is disappointing the video makes up for it.
This is my opinion, hope it helps.
I liked the phone so much, I bought a second used for dirt cheap on cowboom.com. This phone is a beast that T-Moble and LG failed to work right. It's dualcore with sufficient memory. It has a Tegra 2 chip making gaming a reality with games like GTAIII and Zen Pinball. It does hdmi out with ease. All this in a sleek body with a decent screen. Any popular GB ROM is a go on this device. The only thing that could make it better is quadcore, 1GB RAM, and Tegra 3. Here's to G4X!

So I had the Samsung rep in today showing me the Samsung galaxy s3 today, first thing I did was run a quadrant bench mark and antutu, quadrant benchmark for both were pretty similar. On antutu both phone were pretty similar too, I did like the Samsung feature where you can minimise a video window and watch it while carry out other tasks, neat,,, hope fully it can be hacked to make run on other quad-core phones, build qualiy I have to say was very poor for the Samsung s3, the back cover is a flimsy bit of plastic, so for build quality HTC ONE X wins hands down. I do like the ability of removable battery and Memory card which I wish the one x had,
So guys what are your opinions...

can already do the pop up player thing with "stick it".
As for HOX vs. GS3. I had 2 HOX that were faulty. sent them back and stuck with my Note waiting for GS3 thinking it would be the don of phones. Watched the launch event and was underwhelmed enough to get my 3rd HOX. this one is spot on. I'm lucky/stupid/daft enough to carry a work phone and a personal phone, so might get GS3 as my work handset, definitely want to try it hands on first though.
Yeah but stick it is very glitchy, I have had many Samsung phones and HTC, that's one of the perks working for mobile phone retailer, I have not had any Hox back faulty yet lol,
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
being a stock feature i have no doubt that pop up player is better than stick it, which i have to say i uninstalled as didnt use it. I'm not sure i'd use pop up player, although i have said that in the past about many things that now form part of my daily mobile life! i can see me using that more than the voice recognition thing.
I have no sway one way or the other on sense vs. touchwiz, i am comfortable with either. I was interested in your comments on build quality. I just sold my Galaxy Note and GS2 shortly before that after getting the HOX, i would say the Note and GS2 are better built than the HOX, not as nice a design, and the materials dont feel as classy, but it seemed somehow more solid?? are you saying that the GS3 is more flimsy feeling than the GS2 or Note? disappointing if that is the case, although i will have to hold it in my hand and judge for myself.

Yeah but stick it is very glitchy, I have had many Samsung phones and HTC, that's one of the perks working for mobile phone retailer, I have not had any Hox back faulty yet lol,

HTC Evo3D was one of the worst phones I ever had in terms of build quality. My SGSII isnt as sturdy as my OG Evo and my old Hero, but its held up quite well over the last few months. As far as the HOX vs SGSIII, not having expandable memory is a deal breaker for me. Ill wait to SGSIII is released or get a note if it comes to Sprint.
Overall build quality of both phones is good, Hox is better feel, the s3 when hold it feels cheap, again its a personal opinion, even the Samsung rep said I agree with you, but at the end of the day he works for Samsung so he was quite reluctant to say any thing bad about s3, lol

Once I get actual stock I will post pic of benchmarks for both phones,

The build quality has nothing to do with the materials used. HTC uses metals that are heavy and give the impressions of quality, yet they can't keep dust from getting under your screen ... Samsung may use plastic but that keeps the weight low. My SGS 2 (TMo version) compared to My Sensation is hands down for my SGS 2 and they use the same SoC..

I agree in the past HTC had problems with dust under screen, but now as there is less gap there is no dust problem, as I said I work in mobile retail and I have seen Samsung come back with dust under screen,

Both phones are very similar, I think it will come down to brand loyalty or UI, I prefer HTC sense but touchwiz is not bad either,

On the One X the browser sucks because it keeps using the companion core, and overall the Tegra 3 gets hammered by the new Exynos pretty much everywhere. Anyway if I had to pick a phone now I'd probably get the One S: cheaper, better looking, not too big and with the excellent S4. I'm really looking forward to those WP8 devices with S4s on board. Nokia top notch quality and style + S4 equals epic in my book

Just thought this article was a reminder that the one S and one X probably don't have to worry about obsolescence for a little while yet.
In this article the 1X and 1S tied for First place, the SG3 at #2 (where it belongs), and the Evo at #3.

It's a smaller One X. It actually beats the One X in bench marking due to it's lower resolution, but yeah, it's pretty much the same phone--if we're talking the american versions--just smaller.
The One S definitely is an underrated phone. Even HTC themselves don't really pay much attention to it.
yeah all the advertisements htc make are about the HTC One X...
for me, the htc evo LTE 4G is the "hidden king" of all smartphones, its the same as the htc one x, plus it has SD card slot, has a kid stand or something like that XD, and has the s4 Snapdragon which beat the tegra 3
hope htc release a GSM version of it soon, i already bought a htc one S because i like the 4.3" phones and because is so thin

Not true, I saw a lot of comercials for the one S like the one when they were falling from the sky and taking those pics they did them for the one X and the one S. Also Tmo still plays them a lot too.
The hd2 is better than all three

OP you are FUNNY!
The HOX and HOS are perfect phones, if you're lucky enough to get a defect-free one. HTC really has shot their reputation w the quality management of this year phones.
I've never seen a One S advert. It's all One X. I understand they're obviously going to push their flagship phone, but the One S has just been neglected and is on par with the One X in terms of performance, just a small size. HTC big up photos being taken specifically off of the One X, when the One S has the exact same camera capabilities.
What annoyed me the most is the release of the Desire C. First the Desire is now the bottom of the barrel budget phones, when the original Desire was the flagship line, and it's the last budget phone HTC are doing, yet it has NFC capabilities, which the One S could have easily had, and should have.
As said above, HTC aren't what they used to be, and seem to be leaning towards Apple's business practices.
There's no way I would agree to this...
My One S can't have a stable USB tethering connection, so much that I went back to using my iPhone 4 as main phone. Before I root it and install more recent ROM (like the 1.84), I had numerous data issues: No data, No data despite having the icon on screen, Stuck on Edge, all required a reboot to fix. The phone have poor network reception barely better than my iPhone 4 "hold in the wrong way". I still can't use Skype. In less than one month I dented the case after a fall of 1 foot high on ceramic and scratched the screen in normal use (first time I scratch a screen without an accident). I won't comment on multitasking performance...
I love the phone but very disappointed we do not have NFC

Reasons I got rid of the HTC one s every call had static all three phones multitasking non existent data was highly annoying hit or miss if not for the static I would have kept it but HTC that was your last chance done gettin ripped
I'll be honest tho I'm really starting to consider iOS all my phones are android but I'm starting to get disappointed with lag doing simple crap like scrolling hopefully 4.1 will help alot in this regard

I got something for you OP, since you decided to make this thread to make yourself feel better. My Galaxy S III bests your One X in almost every way. The only thing I would give the One X is looks. All that slideshow you linked to says is the One X is "the greatest camera phone ever", which I would have to disagree with (objectionable). It also says, "The One X might have snagged top honors, but it edged out the Galaxy S III by a fragment. Laced with powerful hardware and dope next-gen features, Samsung’s mobile powerhouse embodies its “Next Big Thing” tag line.":

And benchmarks? Benchmarks don't prove anything. I also find it funny that Nvidia pays developers to tone down the graphics on non-Tegra 3 phones so their chipset looks better. Good thing my Galaxy S III runs Tegra 3 games better than Tegra 3 phones like the One X:

You know this is the S4 HTC One S section, right? No one here owns a tegra unless they have two or more phones. Were running on the sexy S4.

There's really no use comparing day-to-day performance. In 3D-intensive tasks is where you'll notice a huge different in GPU performance.
