From what I have heard and read here, it depends on where you are. I am in San Antonio, TX and run HTC-RIL 2.2.0169HMQ - 2.3.4 ROMs, Radio versions: 10.14.9035.01
And using the Coredroid 2.4 rom with stock kernel. All is fine in the world with this set up for me. Uploads speeds range from 3-9mbps, and this is constant compared to the older radios/rils.
So basically it's up to you really. But the one I use the majority of guys that use it have good things to say about it.
I'm using the 10.58 radio...

About an hour ago I didn't know anything about cyanogen, or what kind of mod it was. So I did some basic research, then on these forums I looked at some C7 base mods, the issue is, there are more than one of them!
I like the fact they come without sense, better battery life and are 'clean'. Currently I'm using Mikes hd revolution 3.6.2 and it works a treat. But I fancy a non-sense Rom.
Could anyone with experience tell me what I'm in for (pros and cons) and perhaps point me to the best Cyanogen mod around?
Thanks in advance.
I run the CM7 Alpha-version from the CyanogenMod website. It can be found here: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/forum/401-htc-sensation-experimental-mod/ (see the sticky post a the top).
A few known issues aside (which don't concern me much), so far, it works great for me - the phone really feels much better without Sense. I definitively won't go back to a Sense ROM.

I agree with this. I would recommend you use the official CM7 from kmobs himself. After you expirment with the original cm7, you can try different variations of it

So the SelfKang7 version on XDA is different from the official kmobs version? What is the difference exactly? I often wondered what the difference was.

No the selfkang is exactly the same. The other roms are based off the selfkang and are themed with extra bits added/removed and some are more optimised.
Using hypersensation. Runs like a charm

The selfkang version is the official version developed by kmobs himself. Other Roms use cm7 as a base, but I recommend you use selfkang 9

Okay thanks for clarifying. I keep going back and fourth between ARHD and CM7 because I absolutely hate the CM7 camera issues. My FFC on CM7 even takes picture upside down??? Crossing my fingers the stable version will have a solid all functioning camera with zero glitches.

+1 Fast and Cool dish!
i personally got tired of CM7/MIUI variations running on my old SGS1 and i got the Sensation mainly because of Sense
whenever i install cm7 or miui i feel my old phone is back and i start missing sense straight away
Like the title says. In your opinion what do u like the best. I'm currently running ExtremeSensation Dream 2 by TheLegendaryLegends.
I've just got the ce and loving it. Wanted to know if I'm missing out on an amazine Rom that's hidding someware lol

I prefer Android Revolution HD (i'm on 6.5.1, will try 6.5.2 later today), InsertCoin also worked like a charm on my device. At the end it's personal preference I think. But look at the number of replies on the ARHD thread, it shows how active the Android Revolution team and the community is. The support is amazing. I love it.
I am using elegancia rom, arhd is simple rom where u must add every think by yourself, elegancia have everything built in, and also is beautifle. Aaaand also u can chose some options in instalation like oc kernel (better cpu, like 1,5 or 1,7 instead 1,2). Give it a try, i wont be dissapointed.

IC is by far the smoothest and it gets updated at least 2 times per week. ARHD is good too but I always return to IC! Try them and choose the one that fits your needs

+1 for Android Revolution The support is mega, thats what i love more than anything.
Fair enough you may have to add modds / tweaks yourself, But thats because not everyone wants a ton of mods n stuff, Some people just want a stock looking custom ROM.
IMO its better than having them all built into the ROM and having to dissect it to remove the stuff you dont want..
But the main thing is personal preference.... There is not better / worse ROM

I must agree with that, u must try it for u self and decide. Unless there is a rom, wich is very, very, very bad, but talking about all main roms, u must decide for u self.
Thanks guys. I'm going to try each one of these roms that has been mentioned.. What I'm looking for is something that looks good, has very good battery life and is fast. First one I'm going to try is InsertCoin. Is there any good asop roms floating about.. I used to use Oxygen Rom on the HTC Desire S.
Thanks for the replys there very helpfull.

awesome bro i remember seeing you in those forums I too switched
as for roms depends whether you want sense or not
MIUI is perfect AT this moment. based on the HTC ICS Base so you get both the camera and everything else working.
Official HTC Rom like ARHD, coredroid etc - Stable and fast rom with Sense 3.6(personally dislike Sense but you can install a mod to make it just like stock android, look under themes and apps)
CM9 - video camera doesnt work so well, bluetooth no go,
sense 4 - camera not so much with no autofocus, but almost good enough
I suggest - ICS stock rom with HTC base. like hypernonsense

I came from mt4g and found the sensation easier to root. I am running coredroid on the mt4g and on my sensation. The mt4g is for my son, he bought one off a kid at school for $20, because the kid didn't like the battery life. I am real happy with coredroid on both phones. Just make sure to go through a few battery cycles before judging any of the roms, most will break in and give great battery life in a few days, at least in my experience.
+1 for ARHD - its the most stable, the most fastest and the support is amazing.... (IMO)
I highly recommend trying it out. Throw in Sebastians kernel and having a Full day AND a half battery wont be a rarity any more.
there are a lot of guides on how to flash it, Its the most popular ROM, The guides are fairly simple, and if you dont like it, flash to something else

Hi all, so I'm in the process of buying a second hand Sensation which is currently locked to Bell (Canada).
I've seen a few ways in order to sim unlock this here on XDA forum, but is there one recommended way for noobs to follow in order to unlock?
Also, I have seen there is a HTC Sensation and a HTC Sensation 4G. Is there anyway I can tell if the phone I am buying is a 4G?
Thanks in advance
Actually that is wrong. The sensation 4g picks up 4g. The normal one can't and never will, it doesn't have the extra antenna to be able to anyway. The xe and the normal sensation are the same just that the xe has red lights which are admittedly quite sexy

The Sensation's 4G is HSDPA. Every Sensation is capable of that, even without the antenna.
I am actually going to use one of your sources.
So I got the case today and put it on. To my surprise, everything seems to work. I het the normal 4G HSDPA signal and data speeds for my area, and Bluetooth and WiFi work just fine with identical levels to the 4G case.

What kind of kernel would you recommend for a 4.0.3 Rom with sense 3.6?and also what kernel no.

Try them, everyone feels differently about them. Honestly, I don't notice a realistic difference between any of em, so I use stock.
You can't tell a difference o.k.

I am by no means an expert in this and fairly new myself, however in my experience the cooks have done a pretty good job of matching the best kernels to there rom's. Some even have multiple ones to choose from during installation.
