Anybody else have this problem?
I absolutely love go launcher better than all the launchers I've tried, but for me it runs sluggish when I run it over Sense.
If you do have this problem, any way to work around it? Final question, how smooth is Go Launcher with senseless and cyanogenmod? Thanks!

I've run adw launcher & go launcher at the same time over sense . Smooth. No lag.
Maybe more free ram is needed? Try something like AMM ?

No lag here. I am running it on InsertCoin 2.2.5 SSE ROM
smooth for me and i'm on stock.
Settings > applications > running services > menu > show cached processes
Look for sense. Sometimes it uses 90mb. Stop the service.
No problems so far.
Also, on sense, use a different scene and remove all the widgets.
Then use go launcher as default.

I'm running GO Launcher EX with CM7 alpha 7. It runs much better then when I was running sense roms. With sense there just seems to be too much going on which just eats up the phone's processing power. I highly recommend CM7.

It is stable. Just not quite complete, feature wise, that is.

I agree.. CM7 with Go Launcher is really nice...
And no issues with CM7 as of yet. No lag and very stable and I love the fact of having so much free memory now. Sense has... since.... died for me...
It would be nice if the sensation came with 1gb of ram though instead of 768

So if I instal something like ADWLauncher will it take over for sence? If so will sense still be running in the background taking up a lot of resources ?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Once you install an alternative launcher, when you press the home button it'll ask you which you want to use as the default for that action, the same way it works for web browsers.
I'm running ADW myself and see one HTC Sense service running, using 2.7MB of memory.
If you switch back to the sense launcher, you'll notice that it takes a bit to launch it.
Thank you very much. I have cyanogen on my G2. I am so familiar with ADWLauncher, and if it will use less resources and speed thing up perhaps that would be sweet, well until I can cyanogen on the sensation.

This is funny... I thought I was the only one who didn't like it. I really thought I was going to, but I find it just gets in the way.
I switched to LauncherPro (which I'm really happy with) and I stopped all the HTC related syncing stuff in the accounts setup. I'm not sure how much was saved, but it didn't seem to help much RAM and battery wise.
FWIW my wife hasn't had any complaints about it, and we both came from stock Android phones.
I can't wait to root this thing...
Did Launcher Pro not lag for you guys? I checked out the demo in the store and Launcher Pro chugged like none other. Who knows what they did to that demo before I picked it up though.

I am also running Launcher Pro and it runs great. No lag. On a side note, is it worth the $3.50 to get the 'Plus' version of Launcher Pro?
I installed Zeam to see if it would be slow. It ran fine. I actually noticed that some aspects of Sense shutdown when you use another launcher.
Try ADW Ex just for the mere fact that is supports hardware acceleration unlike LPP and the other homescreen replacements.

Im going to be switching to T-Mobile and the Sensation looks like the top phone at the moment. Unfortunately, sense slows this phone BIG TIME. Can i just bypass that with another launcher?
Yes, just install one from the market, push home and it will give you an option. that's just the launcher tho, not the whole system sense integration. But this phone was made for sense (interface not launcher, I personally use go launcher), I haven't noticed any lag.

Yes and no. The problem most people have isn't with the interface but with how much resources it takes up. If you add another launcher you don't reduce the usage of sense. If you just want a different interface then yes you can drop another one on top. From my experience ADW is slow as dirt on this device so i wouldn't recommend that one but i've heard people have had success with launcher pro
For me launcher pro and adw are slow. The but go Launcher runs great. Very smooth.

Well hang on there a sec, I didn't say the phone itself was laggy... in fact quite the opposite this thing flies. It was only ADW/Launcher Pro that lagged it out. I have had NO complaints with it's snappiness at all, and I'm harsh on judging my phones! This one has given me no reason to ***** about the speed... I just prefer stock Android over Sense, which even though it has some great features, still bugs me aesthetically.
I too was worried after I played with an in-store unit and noticed it laggy, but I think that is a simple result of everyone and their mother going in there and messing with it. All I can say is don't take the in-store performance too seriously... mine has acted nothing like the store unit did.

Sense is an entire UI integration made by HTC. It is not just a simple home app that you can replace (although you can replace the Sense launcher with something better like ADW). Unless you install an AOSP ROM like CyanogenMod when the phone is rooted you will NEVER be rid of Sense no matter how many bloatware apps you remove or HTC components you freeze. Period. End of story.
Is there anything about that you didn't understand?

I love to see a post with a mature, dignified, helpful approach... So, what approach were YOU going for?
Listen bud... try to imagine a world where posting unnecessary (ie completely unhelpful and rude) garbage like this does NOT in fact impress anyone. I know man... I sure wish it did too. I'm super glad that ADW runs buttery smooth for you, and had you responded with a helpful "Hey ADW runs great for me, here's how I have it configured..." I would have listened and actually could have respected you. Instead, you post trash like "I laugh at those, I'm right you're wrong" etc... As such I couldn't care less what you have to say.
Mm'kay? Thanks buddy...

I'm sure most of you already know that animations and eye candy are what slow this phone down. Using launcherpro makes it faster (blocking most of the sense stuff/animations), but it still wasn't quite fast enough. ADW EX on its "Fast" setting is quicker and smoother than LP. I have tried all of the launchers in the market and ADW is the quickest as long as you use the right settings. Anyone else seeing two processes called android.process.acore using very high CPU when LauncherPro is installed?
I've done some Google research, tried all the supposed fixes I can find, including uninstall/reinstall, and no luck.
Posts on the LauncherPro forum confirm the issue, and many have ended up uninstalling it.
So, if your battery life suffers, check running processes to see if this is the culprit.
Thank God for 3rd party launchers. I can't stand Sense and I have given it every chance as well. Apart from the extremely annoying frequent Sense reboots the phone lags and things feel slower than on my old Incredible. Just switching from Sense to LauncherPro without changing anything else I get back over 50MB of RAM. That's ridiculous, talk about bloat.
I still haven't s-off my phone yet but I'm starting to consider it. Especially when we get stable builds from Cyanogen.

I have been using ADW on it since I got it. I hate Sense and always have. To much eye candy for no apparent reason. Ill take function over form any day of the week.
By the way, I just switched everyone from the other thread regarding this same topic over to ADW from LP and gave them my settings. The 5 that did all agree that ADW is faster than LP with the correct settings. Also, the free version of ADW will not be as fast due to it not having a lot of the settings. I can't figure it out but my phone hates Sense. Even after I uninstalled the Good for Enterprise app which I thought was causing the issues Sense starts slowing down and then craps out after a little while. It literally restarts Sense after every app install or update or even uninstall. I don't think its a memory issue only because there's plenty free but it doesn't happen right after a reboot either. I can't figure it out but it definitely seems like something is leaking memory or corrupting Sense.
When is T-Mobile releasing our update? I'm good using LP for now but it'd be nice to have a proper functioning stock launcher as an option as well.

I was running ADW EX for a few days. It was fast as ****, but I missed the Sense 3.0. Widgets and interface. My phone has no lag at all and works perfect with Sense as well. If it was laggy, I would definitely drop it for ADW. My brother uses Launcher Pro and is a big fan. To each his own.
Totally agree, to each his own.
For me ... this phone is totally usable with Sense...
Each launcher has it's pluses and minuses. There are quite a few alternatives to Sense widgets but none has completely done it for me. Same goes for HTC's apps, especially People/Phone and Email apps.
The major problem with Sense 3 was the many frequent Launcher restarts, which is almost solved now with the custom rom I'm using (CrystalPyramid), been using it for 3 days and it's been as fast as can be for me. I really can't be happier with my Sensation now.
The only two things I really miss about other launchers are changing home number of rows and resizable widgets.

Have you tried playing around with the Memory Usage and other options under LauncherPro's Preferences --> Advanced Settings menu?
I was already pretty happy with LP's performance on my phone, but a couple of experiments with those tweaks made it even better for me. Hopefully it'll make things a little rosier for you too? That is, if you're even interested in LP anymore
I would get the white screen with green HTC logo almost everytime I went out of an app so, started using Launcher Pro. Today just for the frell of it
I decided to download Go Launcher EX. I got say its 1, Free, 2, there are
