Thank God for 3rd party launchers. I can't stand Sense and I have given it every chance as well. Apart from the extremely annoying frequent Sense reboots the phone lags and things feel slower than on my old Incredible. Just switching from Sense to LauncherPro without changing anything else I get back over 50MB of RAM. That's ridiculous, talk about bloat.
I still haven't s-off my phone yet but I'm starting to consider it. Especially when we get stable builds from Cyanogen.

Inspire Sense 3.0 and Sensation Sense 3.0 (Stock) are two completely different beasts. The stock build for Sensation has some issues.

I knew it came with Sense. My Incredible came with Sense and it was lightning fast. As much as I like it its too slow and buggy. Once they update it and hopefully improve things I might give it another shot.
Oh and this phone hardware is reason enough to buy the phone.

Personally, I like HTC's hardware. It's Sense I can always do without. I mean, c'mon! This is a forum for phone modding, not for keeping your phone like stock.

If I can't install the apps I want then the phone is useless. Enjoy limiting what you install on your phone to keep running how you want.
I have been using ADW on it since I got it. I hate Sense and always have. To much eye candy for no apparent reason. Ill take function over form any day of the week.
By the way, I just switched everyone from the other thread regarding this same topic over to ADW from LP and gave them my settings. The 5 that did all agree that ADW is faster than LP with the correct settings. Also, the free version of ADW will not be as fast due to it not having a lot of the settings. You have to purchase ADW EX in order to feel the speed.

Sense 3 is acceptable to me
But I prefer Google's original launch app
But LaunchPro and ADW are something makes wanna throw the phone right to the wall

I can't figure it out but my phone hates Sense. Even after I uninstalled the Good for Enterprise app which I thought was causing the issues Sense starts slowing down and then craps out after a little while. It literally restarts Sense after every app install or update or even uninstall. I don't think its a memory issue only because there's plenty free but it doesn't happen right after a reboot either. I can't figure it out but it definitely seems like something is leaking memory or corrupting Sense.
When is T-Mobile releasing our update? I'm good using LP for now but it'd be nice to have a proper functioning stock launcher as an option as well.

I was running ADW EX for a few days. It was fast as ****, but I missed the Sense 3.0. Widgets and interface. My phone has no lag at all and works perfect with Sense as well. If it was laggy, I would definitely drop it for ADW. My brother uses Launcher Pro and is a big fan. To each his own.
Totally agree, to each his own.
For me ... this phone is totally usable with Sense...
Each launcher has it's pluses and minuses. There are quite a few alternatives to Sense widgets but none has completely done it for me. Same goes for HTC's apps, especially People/Phone and Email apps.
The major problem with Sense 3 was the many frequent Launcher restarts, which is almost solved now with the custom rom I'm using (CrystalPyramid), been using it for 3 days and it's been as fast as can be for me. I really can't be happier with my Sensation now.
The only two things I really miss about other launchers are changing home number of rows and resizable widgets.

Have you tried playing around with the Memory Usage and other options under LauncherPro's Preferences --> Advanced Settings menu?
I was already pretty happy with LP's performance on my phone, but a couple of experiments with those tweaks made it even better for me. Hopefully it'll make things a little rosier for you too? That is, if you're even interested in LP anymore
I would get the white screen with green HTC logo almost everytime I went out of an app so, started using Launcher Pro. Today just for the frell of it
I decided to download Go Launcher EX. I got say its 1, Free, 2, there are
loads of free themes and 3 customizable!
The guy at T-Mobile said that once this phone gets 2.3.4 and the HTC
update as well then Sense might not be so buggy.
Here's a link to view about the launcher above.

So I've been seein the EVO 3D, and I really like its new sense ui. You can change the lockscreen with weather and when you slide through the screens there is a new carasel look and more. I am just wondering two things. 1. Is there any way to get that Sense ported over to our Inspire's? 2. If we can't, do you think that the Inspire will ever get that update?

I actually prefer it to vanilla Android. I ran cm for a day and flashed design gears Rom back over it. I have great battery life so far, so it really doesn't bother me. I feel almost "privileged" to have it since I own an HTC device.
You really can't beat the dialer, messaging app and keyboard. I know there are skins to out on other keyboards but I can't get the same performance as I can the built in HTC keyboard.
Plus I'm a huge sucker for the clock....

I'm borrowing my buddys inspire for two days to see how I like it. I own an Atrix. Right away I can see that the screen and build quality of this phone is much better than my Atrix. I also really like sense.
I asked my friend to put gingerbread and 3.0 sense on this phone so I can try it out. While the features are great the phone just doesnt feel as fast as my Atrix I need to find out exactly what Rom is on this phone so I can tell you guys, but my question is, is there anyway to put REAL sense 3.0 on this phone as well as gingerbread? Or are these things just themes?
I would try to find this info myself but you guys have like 30 roms listed in the dev forum. Also can you tell me if its possible to make the inspire very snappy while having sense 3.0 and gingerbread? So far I'm very much liking the phone and am considering making the switch.
If I'm understanding correctly, sense will backup all my settings and apps so that if I switch phones I won't have to do anything to get it back to the way I had it. Is this accurate?

CM7 is basically vinilla android with some improvements so no sense, miui is the best rom ever period, rcmix kingdom is sense 3.0 but is still not a solid rom. i had an atrix, hjad hardware problems with it and got it traded, then i started looking at the inspire fourms and i became more and more unhappy with my atrix and switched it for an inspire and it was the best desision ever but if you want to back up all your apps and restore them it wont work when switching roms 100% of the time so i would recommend BUYING titanium backup because if yourestore apps with the free version it takes forever due to the fact that you have to hit yes for every app, wait for it to install, then hit done, for every app

I disagree. Miui is horrible. Blah.... It lasted 12 hours on my phone. And that only cause I went to sleep.
I am using Gingerbeast. Its awesome. Fast...I Have been OC'd on it @ 1450mhz for like 2 weeks straight. No Issues. No Sense tho. But sense, its garbage man. Sense is bloatware..... .. Install a launcher, install GO SMS and GO contacts.. Its all you needs. If you want sense for the social stuff, just down load the social apps. But with this phone why? I just use the browser and log into them normally...
Leedroid is the only other Rom I would recommend for Sense. I used it for weeks. Fast, OC-able and All the Sense you could want.
I also +1 Titanium Back up. Its awesome.

As I am not experienced much yet with an unlocked bootloader, ill take your word for it. I already purchaser TB for my Atrix do that's not an issue. I just never fully understood how to use it so I kinda just sits in my app drawer.
If you could please just briefly highlight the diffrences in cm7 and miui I would really appreciate it. Also do you think flashing to cm7 will remove this "zoomed in, big font issue" I was referring to earlier? Or is it maybe that MOTO blur is zoomed out? Everything looks smaller on the Atrix.
It's strange to see such dislike for Sense. I've seen on many occasions in other phones forums, people asking how to put sense on their non HTC devices. I was under the impression it was the best.

Out of all the UI's Sense is the best. I've used miui once but it looks too similar to the iphone so I don't really know what the appeal is there. However there is a large number of people who like the stock look with CM7 because of how you can customize literally everything, after a while that gets repetitive and boring. Personally I prefer Sense because of the hardware acceleration in the UI and the eye candy. Out of all the UI's it's the only one that doesn't look like it was designed by a 10 year old kid.
Go flash Leedroid with all the patches and you'll see what I mean.

internally MIUI and CM7 are very similar the biggest difference is the way they actually feel when using them, its mainly the ui, with CM7 you can customize EVERTHING but with MIUI most of its their you just have to see if you like it but if you do flash miui id recommend Rey's coustom rom MIUI in the desire hd fourms. but with titanium backup what it does is makes very precise backups of all your apps and saves it to your sd card and when you move roms you just download titanium backup and restore, most of this is done thorough batch which you go to backup/restore, hit menu, and select backup all user apps with data, but NEVER select system data when moving roms because it can cause some serious problems
My opinion:
Love sense. My favorite UI, and I like all roms on this forum. Tried every single one. My absolute favorite aosp rom is gingerbeast. Favorite sense rom is stock rooted and gtg's inspired ace. Then comes miui. As for the atrix, forget it. I had the atrix and it kept overheating, so I got the inspire and it was the best decision ever! Best part-no motoblur
As far as the people who don't like sense, go spend a year on touchwiz or motoblur

Well then you might as well flash an aosp rom. Sense wont keep all you stuff backed up throughout roms(I don't remember it restoring any of my stuff)
aosp roms will keep EVERY app backed up and will restore them when you reflash or update the rom. If you uninstall an app, it wont restore it.
Works perfect.

Yes, just install one from the market, push home and it will give you an option. that's just the launcher tho, not the whole system sense integration. But this phone was made for sense (interface not launcher, I personally use go launcher), I haven't noticed any lag.

Yes and no. The problem most people have isn't with the interface but with how much resources it takes up. If you add another launcher you don't reduce the usage of sense. If you just want a different interface then yes you can drop another one on top. From my experience ADW is slow as dirt on this device so i wouldn't recommend that one but i've heard people have had success with launcher pro
For me launcher pro and adw are slow. The but go Launcher runs great. Very smooth.

Well hang on there a sec, I didn't say the phone itself was laggy... in fact quite the opposite this thing flies. It was only ADW/Launcher Pro that lagged it out. I have had NO complaints with it's snappiness at all, and I'm harsh on judging my phones! This one has given me no reason to ***** about the speed... I just prefer stock Android over Sense, which even though it has some great features, still bugs me aesthetically.
I too was worried after I played with an in-store unit and noticed it laggy, but I think that is a simple result of everyone and their mother going in there and messing with it. All I can say is don't take the in-store performance too seriously... mine has acted nothing like the store unit did.

Sense is an entire UI integration made by HTC. It is not just a simple home app that you can replace (although you can replace the Sense launcher with something better like ADW). Unless you install an AOSP ROM like CyanogenMod when the phone is rooted you will NEVER be rid of Sense no matter how many bloatware apps you remove or HTC components you freeze. Period. End of story.
Is there anything about that you didn't understand?

I love to see a post with a mature, dignified, helpful approach... So, what approach were YOU going for?
Listen bud... try to imagine a world where posting unnecessary (ie completely unhelpful and rude) garbage like this does NOT in fact impress anyone. I know man... I sure wish it did too. I'm super glad that ADW runs buttery smooth for you, and had you responded with a helpful "Hey ADW runs great for me, here's how I have it configured..." I would have listened and actually could have respected you. Instead, you post trash like "I laugh at those, I'm right you're wrong" etc... As such I couldn't care less what you have to say.

Were there any side affects from freezing Sense? Crashes or freezes?

Everything opens up instantly now...it's faster than my buddies g2x.
I'm sure most of you already know that animations and eye candy are what slow this phone down. Using launcherpro makes it faster (blocking most of the sense stuff/animations), but it still wasn't quite fast enough. Then I went to settings, display, turned off all animations, and now it's blazing fast. Opens up most things instantly. I love it.
Imagine what would happen if we can flash custom ROMs

Probably apps would open just before you hit the shortcut...
With custom roms I'm guessing an app will open right as you just start thinking about opening it. Makes sense.

I'm running the same setup and its fast. Try getting spare parts from the market and turn everything to fast and it will fly even more!
I dont know, I tried disabling animations in the settings but I still got a bunch of HTC animations. To me, LauncherPro seems a lot smoother on my Nexus One (unrooted, stock, etc...)
I run the same setup on my phone too, i have with all my phones, When i got the cliq it was the slowest phone ever and i used launcher pro which made it somewhat faster lol.
woa! snappy! thx!
Only thing I didn't like about Launcher Pro was the wallpaper cropping. Installed Wallpaper Wizardrii and setup is exactly how I've been wanting.
Thanks.
It really does seem snappy. And the lag when opening launcher pros app drawer has disappeared aswell!

hahahah nice
my phone will already know all the apps i will open for the next day and rapidly open them for me as they come
Try ADW Launcher (I use EX) with the same settings. I find it to be just as snappy however much more feature rich than launcherpro.
I'm just drooling waiting for CM7...

ADW EX on its "Fast" setting is quicker and smoother than LP. I have tried all of the launchers in the market and ADW is the quickest as long as you use the right settings. Plus ADW has more customization options than LP. Your right though. When used with a Launcher, it does become faster than the G2X.

Can you list your settings, I would like to try it, I love the context menu when holding a long press over icons, but lp always seemed faster

Anyone else seeing two processes called android.process.acore using very high CPU when LauncherPro is installed?
I've done some Google research, tried all the supposed fixes I can find, including uninstall/reinstall, and no luck.
Posts on the LauncherPro forum confirm the issue, and many have ended up uninstalling it.
So, if your battery life suffers, check running processes to see if this is the culprit.
Well i think battery usage is the (almost) first problem of our problems with our phones. Changing launcher might be a little solution for it. Maybe not. I don't know. But I'm pretty sure some of users are bored from Sense UI. Well any suggestions for launchers? Please vote as their battery usage(especially) , customization, best looking etc. specialities.
And sorry for my bad english.
Regards.
im simple i like stock sense, ADW is heavily bloated with stuff(allows you to fully customize but still bloated) i like when ADW came out it was lean mean and simple now it just wild and getting ugly looking honest opinion LauncherPro is simple and light but dev stop supporting he went MIA, GO ex is like ADW
I switched to GO EX three months ago and haven't looked back. I like it better in every way. No more Sense reloading and my battery life is WAY better.

Nova Launcher is great. I'm using it right now. But Rosie is always a backup plan. It's a little slow, but it has great widgets.
Im using now nova laucher, love it! back up launcher is go launcher
I like the sense widgets but launcher pro is pretty solid in my opinion
Another vote for Nova launcher. A very clean launcher indeed!
Sense is my favourite when using Sense ROM's.
On ROM's like CM7 I like the stock Launcher (since it's quick) and LauncherPro.
ADW EX is okay too.
Never been too keen on GoLauncher though although I do like GoSMS.
I'm using apex atm but I've used launcherproplus for ages its the best one for me I left it because it hasn't been updated for ages

i've never used sense.

+1 here. HTC's has a few things I like, especially the left hand sided shortcut widget, but Go Launcher has so many more useful features I can't go back to anything else.
GO.
like the posters above, I haven't looked back.
seems to be easier on the battery, lighter on ram, way more home screen customization options, and themes up the wazoo.
replaced most of the widgets with 3rd party and they are working even better for me then stock.
tried VTL launcher for a short period of time. great launcher but just wasn't working for me.
heard great things about Nova. can't wait til ota and try that sucker out.
will be interesting to see what HTC does with Sense and ICS...
I've tried tons of launchers, and my two favorites are Go and Sean. For totally opposite reasons. Zeam is light, fast, and basic, but has awesome functionality.
Go is fast, always being updated, and had awesome customizability.

nova!!! is the way to go
Launcher pro is laggy on Sensation... It's not even close to its smoothness i have seen on Xperia Ray..
Didn't like the fact that I was limited to a 4x4 grid with the Sense launcher, so got Launcher Pro Plus. Haven't seen the need to switch back, it looks really clean. Runs really well with an overclocked kernel.
i like trebuchet its pretty simple but that may be the reason why i havent seen it lag
rosie is pretty tho, i remember the first time i saw it i was drooling but with time you get bored...still dont get how iphones are still selling
lets see how cool rosie gets once sense get facelifted again (like the time when sense 2.1 jumped to 3.0)
I'm currently using the massively bloated spb shell 3d. It looks awesome though.
