i personally want to use the original google android ui. so it use less ram and faster.

No, you're stuck with Sense 3.0 until custom ROMs are possible.

download "launcher pro" homescreen replacement till custom roms come out

Is there a way to get like a "sense" widget for the time and weather??
I like the weather and clouds going across the screen, but need the Launcher Pro for the buttons at the bottom..

This is funny... I thought I was the only one who didn't like it. I really thought I was going to, but I find it just gets in the way.
I switched to LauncherPro (which I'm really happy with) and I stopped all the HTC related syncing stuff in the accounts setup. I'm not sure how much was saved, but it didn't seem to help much RAM and battery wise.
FWIW my wife hasn't had any complaints about it, and we both came from stock Android phones.
I can't wait to root this thing...

Did Launcher Pro not lag for you guys? I checked out the demo in the store and Launcher Pro chugged like none other. Who knows what they did to that demo before I picked it up though.

I really like LP. I saw a youtube video of the Sens. running it....looked great to me.

I'm running lpp on my sensation. It's a lot smoother than sense. No lag whatsoever.

I am also running Launcher Pro and it runs great. No lag. On a side note, is it worth the $3.50 to get the 'Plus' version of Launcher Pro?

I installed Zeam to see if it would be slow. It ran fine. I actually noticed that some aspects of Sense shutdown when you use another launcher.

Try ADW Ex just for the mere fact that is supports hardware acceleration unlike LPP and the other homescreen replacements.

Sense widgets for an alternative launcher?

Are there any alternative home launchers that allow you to put sense widgets on it? I absolutely love the sense widgets but I hate the home screen lag.

As with any other HTC device, the answer is a big no
As for lag - what lag? I've got none whatsoever

Do you have more than one home app installed?
That will happen when the device gets low on RAM and it has to kill background processes to keep it going. The solution ? Uninstall some of the apps you recently downloaded and don't need AND reduce the amount of unnecessary widgets on the homescreen(s).
I wish this was possible too. No lag here but I hate the stupid 3 button bar wasting space. I tried wave launcher but it looks like crap.

I had a myTouch 4G before the Sensation that was rooted with a stock Android rom and I had all my widgets loooking identical to sense.
Download Beautiful Widgets (it is $1.99 but WAY worth it if you want cool widgets!) There is a clock called "SuperClock" that comes with the app that looks IDENTICAL to sense, especially when you download the (free) skin called "super sense". It also has the sense-looking toggle widgets etc. All with TONS of skins to choose from. The super clock even has the sense animations if you download the free animations add-on.
And just in case (for the non-readers out there) after downloading the app, you apply the widgets like any other (long-press). Opening the app is just for adjusting settings/skins etc.
Guys, is it possible to install Sense 2.x launcher? I wish I could turn off that stupid 3D effect (and scrolling page by page in app drawer)

Launcher Pro + Beutiful Widgets on the Sensation - FAST!

I have had my Sensation for about a week now. Been playing with both Launcher Pro and the stock sense. Stock sense seems REALLY laggy and kinda buggy. I have been using Launcher Pro for about a year and a half or so and when I loaded it on here and customized it makes the Sensation come alive! If anyone out there hates the lag try Launcher Pro until HTC comes up with an update to fix this.
One downfall is you do lose all of the HTC widgets. The phone still functions the same. And your notification bar and everything else is still there. Just the widgets won't show up when using it. There are widget apps out there like Beautiful Widgets or others that are free.
Just wanted to post this on here. A lot of people talking about lag. This is a great fix for it and speeds up your Sensation to what it should be!
Not trying to pimp Launcher Pro. Just tryin to give suggestions.
Cheers!
Yup, I myself am using adw ex & the phone is now flying. Do miss the sense widgets though. Little bit of give & take I suppose.

I am using the EXACT setup lol. I always use launcher pro with beautiful widgets. Best combo for me.
I am also using launcher pro. I did get the plus version with the extra widgets. I am somewhat disappointed in them and not sure it was worth the price. However, LP runs great, better than Sense, and I use it along with fancy widgets.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
It's fast for sure. I also use 5 row homescreen grid to fit more icons and widgets to certain screens. Plus version of Launcher Pro is definitely worth the money.
Me too
Ive done the same, ditched sense a few hours after unboxing, Launcher Pro Plus, Beautiful Widgets and Widgetsoid. Fewer FCs and much faster.
Doesn't sense still run in the background even if you use an alternative launcher?
+1 lpp working good for me with the combination of miui fancy widget.

Yes it does, there's no getting rid of it until we're rooted.
Home screens arr very smooth with launcher pro... But my app drawer.lags quite a bit. Same with adw
Anyone else use Folder Organizer?
I really don't like swiping. Much rather click. So I only use one home screen, with folders. Click, click, to access any app, shortcut or bookmark I want. Very fast, zero lag.
Folder Organizer has the advantage of allowing custom icons for the folders, so home page looks like a screen of apps, instead of a bunch or generic folder icons.
One disadvantage, can't link to a widget from inside a folder. But, 3rd party launchers have a similar issue, and I can still put widgets on other home screens if needed.
We have 2 sensations and both running BW and LPP. Our home screens are still not smooth in transitions and often laggy. This is on 2 tmobile sensations. My previous G2x was much faster and smoother.
Also I believe LPP is messing with my geolocation. Not sure how, but when I remove LPP I don't have geolocation issues(tells me I am in a different state).
I prefer Regina right now but I love messing with launchers
Idk what kind of setup you guys are running or maybe your definition of lag is different then mine, but I have no lag at all.

I see... Idk if I can put if with lag for that long. haven't had a phone that lagged since my droid Eris. Honestly my droid 2 global was a little more snappy than the sensation. But that was oc'd of course.
Launcher pro is awesome but its still not as fast on the sensation as it is on my nexus one. It will prob be after root. Still, much better than sense.

Destop visualizer in sense
I have been an ADW launcher user for quite a while
on HD2 (2 of), Desire HD and now sensation.
But I have also been using Desktop Visualizer to add custom icons to empty sense pages - best of both worlds.
i also have ADW as a home page choice - have not set either as the default yet.
Only had sensation for 4 days.

What launcher do you like?

Well we all know sense is fat and slow. It looks great. But we want speed. Or at least i do. I use adw at the moment. I think its pretty good. Have any of you tried launcher pro or something else that you think is far better than any other. Lets take a poll. Im interested. Thanks

ADW EX. I'll never use anything else. The hidden dockbar is just too good. Fast and clean and nothing else comes close for customization.
Also used Launcher Pro, but ADW wins.
I have always used adw on my other phones with CM7, but it didn't seem to run very well on the sensation. I just tried Launcher Pro starting about 2 days ago and that is where I am staying until something changes.

Had ADW EX for a little while but then switched to Go Launcher EX. I actually find it more customizable. Both were fast for me. I don't think I'll switch for a while.
Sense is fine for me. I think it's just as quick as the other launchers stock for stock

I use Go Launcher. I tried Adw and launcher Pro ex but I just think that the customization in Go Launcher is better than anything else, at the moment anyways. I also like the transitions and the" wrap around" home screens. I keep the other two installed just to check for updates.
I wouldn't mind a faster launcher, but I really like the ring lockscreen scheme on Sense.

I bought the phone because of his software and speed and the only thing i miss is root to tweak the rest little bits

Do any launchers support the qHD wallpaper like Sense does? I've tried Go Launcher and ADW and can't get them to not crop my wallpaper photo too much. The form factor isn't right.
Also Go Launcher dock icons are too small on this screen, and don't seem adjustable.
Tried using ADW and Launcher Pro PLus for some time....
I realized, Sense 3.0 is the best
Adw has some hd icons and walls. Also on adw you can change the size of icons. Just saying. Might help.

I use launcher pro and you still keep the sense lockscreen. One downfall of sense is that it only takes gives you a 4x4 layout. I have 5x10 layout using launcher pro means you can fit more on your homescreens. Plus you can resize widgets.

Sense widgets in other launchers

I'm completely new to Sense (upgraded from a mt3g and avoided any roms that included anything related to Sense since it would've killed me on ~600MHz or so). I really like my Sensation with ADW Ex and was wondering, short of custom roms is there any way to use Sense widgets in ADW?
Sorry for the newb question, I tried to figure it out using Google but only came across links talking about "Sense-like" replacements. I'm curious if there's any way to extract the actual Sense widgets and reuse them.
Peace,
- bez

Thanks, I'll give LauncherPro a spin.. but I've seen a lot of "similar-to" replacements already that don't quite cut it; are the actual HTC widgets baked into Sense with no way to use them outside of their launcher?
I doubt that there is a way to access the Sense widgets from any launcher other than Sense?

Launcherpro + turn off all animations = fastest phone I've ever used

Everything opens up instantly now...it's faster than my buddies g2x.
I'm sure most of you already know that animations and eye candy are what slow this phone down. Using launcherpro makes it faster (blocking most of the sense stuff/animations), but it still wasn't quite fast enough. Then I went to settings, display, turned off all animations, and now it's blazing fast. Opens up most things instantly. I love it.

Anyone else seeing two processes called android.process.acore using very high CPU when LauncherPro is installed?
I've done some Google research, tried all the supposed fixes I can find, including uninstall/reinstall, and no luck.
Posts on the LauncherPro forum confirm the issue, and many have ended up uninstalling it.
So, if your battery life suffers, check running processes to see if this is the culprit.
