Hi have a uk t-mobile samsung omnia 7 with the original firmware version 7004.
I have been waiting patiently for the update but it is still in a testing stage with t-mobile and they are clearly in no rush to release it.
I have the phone unlocked with chevron,
can anyone tell me whats the best way to get the new firmwares and if there are any downsides that anyone has experienced in upgrading through a non official way.
Also any pointers on how to keep the phone unlocked after the update would be appreciated.
I've looked through the forums but there is way too much information and methods, and I cant find anything specific for my phone.

Ez, I had the same firmware as you, I got fed up of waiting so I just flashed the I8700 XEN I8700XENJK1 rom from samfirmware. I then use the Hungary trick to get Nodo which worked 1st time for me. My phone now runs like a dream, no lag on the market, games load fast etc.... I cant believe T-Mobile are still holding onto it, wankers!!!
Only downside was having to change the regions etc to the uk which took about 30 secs.

Hi I did the reg key trick with the VPN and worked for me. Plus my phones still dev unlocked on nodo. Yeah I agree about t-mobile they are taking the piss and blaming MS for there failure.

@antony: Which method did you use? The Data connection one or the WiFi?
The Omnia 7 UK has a 3G toggle as well. Whenever I try either of the two methods above, it never works. Maybe you can explain how you did it since it's applicable to our devices specifically?

I am looking at buying my first Wp7 handset but I am unsure whether to wait on for the Mango release devices or dive in now?
I already have 2 other phones so I am not going to break the bank so I have boiled down my choices to the LG Optimus 7 or the HTC Trophy - any input on which to go for would be helpful.
I understand that MS manages all software upgrades but looking at their update page it does seem that operators are managing the updates - is this correct?
If I buy a unbranded sim free version would this mean I get the updates direct from MS?
Hi. I have 4 Samsung Focus rev 1.3 phones. All are AT&T phones imported from USA and now in use in the EU for my own small business. Two of them run on AT&T firmware, while two others on Rogers firmware. Rogers firmware phones recently updated to Mango 8107, while both AT&T phones are stuck at 7720 and do not show any available updates (either directly or through Zune).
Any ideas on what is going on there and how to force update to 8170? We use Google Apps and I read that 8170 improved on Google Apps performance. Overall Rogers firmware seems a tad snappier, but it is major pain to reflash everything to Rogers at this stage.
Look up the CAB Updater thread in the Dev&Hacking sub-forum. It allows you to forcibly install updates directly from Microsoft.

I have a one x on Vodafone Australia.
When I got it from Voda, it came with 4.01 software version 1.26.862.2 which isn't receiving any of the OTA updates (apparently because 862.2 was not released to the public so I must be mistaken even tho voda have seen it!?!)
I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to update to .3 or any of the new software versions and where the RUU's may be found?
HTC and Voda have been as useful as pissing in the wind.
I used to fiddle with my old windows phone aswell as my blackberry but am new to Android so any help appreciated.

I am using Samsung Focus. Never got any update post Mango. I had to push those updates via cab sender method. I am on Tango now.
Same here. No update past mango. Still having keyboard disappearing issues as I type this. ATT HTC surround

HTC Trophy under Vodafone Portugal... they kept delaying the subject, but eventually told us the patch was "tested and denied" due to "serious problems in the wifi system". Its just BS,the usual from Vodafone Portugal.
I already knew that. I read it in the VOD-Portugal forum, and it's quite annoying, since VOD-IT is behaving the same :/
HTC Arrive users like myself didn't and won't thanks to the fantastic support from Sprint...
