[Q] Tmobile Omnia 7 7004 question - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi have a uk t-mobile samsung omnia 7 with the original firmware version 7004.
I have been waiting patiently for the update but it is still in a testing stage with t-mobile and they are clearly in no rush to release it.
I have the phone unlocked with chevron,
can anyone tell me whats the best way to get the new firmwares and if there are any downsides that anyone has experienced in upgrading through a non official way.
Also any pointers on how to keep the phone unlocked after the update would be appreciated.
I've looked through the forums but there is way too much information and methods, and I cant find anything specific for my phone.
Thanks for any advice

Ez, I had the same firmware as you, I got fed up of waiting so I just flashed the I8700 XEN I8700XENJK1 rom from samfirmware. I then use the Hungary trick to get Nodo which worked 1st time for me. My phone now runs like a dream, no lag on the market, games load fast etc.... I cant believe T-Mobile are still holding onto it, wankers!!!
Only downside was having to change the regions etc to the uk which took about 30 secs.
Omnia 7 T-Mobile UK

Hi I did the reg key trick with the VPN and worked for me. Plus my phones still dev unlocked on nodo. Yeah I agree about t-mobile they are taking the piss and blaming MS for there failure.

@antony: Which method did you use? The Data connection one or the WiFi?
The Omnia 7 UK has a 3G toggle as well. Whenever I try either of the two methods above, it never works. Maybe you can explain how you did it since it's applicable to our devices specifically?

Hi Antony
Is there a thread about the reg key trick with a vpn?
cheers dude.

New firmware for AUS 3 Touch Pro

New firmware version:
HTC Touch Pro ROM code for Hutchison ‘3’ Network - version 1.90.861.7
Can be download in the HTC e-club at http://www.htc.com/au
Too bad there isn't any list towards what had been fixed. Fingers crossed for those have problem with phone rebooting while roaming.
Do you know if there is also a radio rom included? And if so, which version?

I'd like to know this also, i can't check at the minute as im at work, but will do when i get home unless someone beats me to it which they probably will, ahem... Jcepi2005... lol
I don't think this version is new? I got my Touch Pro last Tuesday and it has version 1.90.861.7 on it already.
I tried to login to the HTC eClub Australia website and it asked me to register. During registration it asked for my HW S/N, which I got from the back of my handset. But it doesn't seem to accept the S/N! All I get is "Sorry! Your hardware serial key data is not correct !"
I bought the phone from Handtec UK. Does it mean I would need to register in the UK site only?
Yes, u can register at UK site only.

My rom is 1.90.861.7 out of the box from the 3 network. Should i go on and apply the "update" anyway?
Mine (received it during the last week of October), also has this version on it already.
Mine has this version too.
I got mine well over 2 weeks ago and I have that version...
To the poster who was asking whether they should install it anyway... I'd say no. Not worth the time if the version numbers match up...
will i see any benifit of upgrading to the Aus 3 ROM? I'm using it on 3, but on the stock rom i got when i ordered it from the UK...
People I had the 861.6 rom on my Touch Pro from 3 Aus and upgrading to this 861.7 rom has improved GPS acquisition time dramatically and the device seems to run smoother to me. I was one of the very first in their front door to buy it when it came in a month ago.
If you have .6 I recommend it. If you already have .7 then theres nothing to be gained. Cheers
Anyone willing to give me a copy of the new 3 AU ROM? I bought my TP from Europe so I can't register with HTC AU. Hopefully I will see some improvements even though I have no major issues at the moment. You just can't have enough right?
Bump. Anyone?

Help regarding Omnia 7 Mango force update

I live in Pakistan. The only Omnia 7 available here is either a T-Mobile one or 3 UK one. My question is can I force update Mango on it with the disconnection method even though 3 hasn't released any Mango update? Or do I need to debrand my phone? If I need to debrand can someone point me towards the correct thread? I've seen them all but I'm confused between all the different ROMs available.

Who didn't get Tango update yet?

Hi all! So, I have an Omnia 7 under Vodafone Italy and I didn't get the update yet. Still no reliable answers from them.
Who else is without Tango? What phone do you have? Which brand do you have?

HTC Trophy under Vodafone Portugal... they kept delaying the subject, but eventually told us the patch was "tested and denied" due to "serious problems in the wifi system". Its just BS,the usual from Vodafone Portugal.
I already knew that. I read it in the VOD-Portugal forum, and it's quite annoying, since VOD-IT is behaving the same :/
HTC Arrive users like myself didn't and won't thanks to the fantastic support from Sprint...

[Q] HTC 8X questions for new user

Hello,
I was looking to buy an 8X and had a few questions before I do I was hoping someone could/would answer:
1. I was wondering if anyone can post suggestions of reputable retailers that sell the "HTC Windows Phone 8X Unlocked" that will work on AT&T with 4G LTE.
Please note I am looking for the official "Unlocked" version straight from HTC.
2. Is it possible to share the internet via Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/USB with the 8X to a PC or other device?
3. Can any one post highly recommended custom ROMs for the 8X?
I am coming from an older HTC HD2 using Dutty's ROMs and I am looking to see what I can do similar with the new 8X phone.
Thanks.
1. I bought it straight from Bell Aliant (Canadian AT&T). Hence, I couldn't recommend you any retailers.
2. Sure is! As far as I know, you can only do a Wifi Hotspot.
3. There's no custom ROMs for WP8. It's a Windows Phone, really not as open as Android. But really, you don't need a custom ROM. I was an Android fanboy before switching to Windows Phone. I loved the idea of customizing my phone and using the latest, fastest ROM. However, this phone is seriously the fastest phone I've ever used, without even having a custom ROM.
I bought an unlocked and unbranded Bell (Canada) 8X. It works 100% on ATT after a couple of tweaks like APN's. I believe that AT&T and Bell are the only two versions that will work with AT&T's LTE. Do some research and check out the exact model numbers before purchasing.

Lollipop at last

Hi Guys.
I've got a sim-free Note3 and I'm using an O2 sim. Yesterday the Lollipop v5.0 was pushed to my device.
Does anyone know if that means that I'll get a further update to 5.01, 5.02, 5.x sometime soon?
Thanks.
Steve
What is your csc?

you got screenshot of device info plz

If its an O2 phone you get the O2 update .
Sim is nothing to do with updates .
O2 Android 5 has been available for weeks .
Thanks guys. I've no idea what 'csc' is?
It's not an O2 phone, it's sim-free, I just happen to use an O2 sim with it - does that make a difference?
It might have been available for weeks, but it only got pushed to my phone yesterday.
Thanks
Steve
I highly believe we will get Android M update, officially.
@OP: Just enjoy the 5.0 update. There won't be any 5.0.1 or 5.0.2, at least not very soon. Cause 5.0 has been available for a lot of countries for over two months now, and there is absolutely no scene of 5.0.1 or 2, so better believe that those won't come. I am just happy to see that Samsung finally pushed an update which got rid of that delay while clearing recent apps, however that was just release for one country, but I am sure a wider scale of the same will be released soon.
Thanks guys! That's just what I feared. Just shame that such a great phone lags behind other, older models. My wife's Galaxy S4 is on 5.01!
A phone has a number of codes ( as shown in Kies )
Basically if its a O2 supplied phone it will have an O2 code and O2 are the ones that update the firmware if they want to .
Generic non branded as in UK BTU may or may not be in advance or delayed .
Who gets the upgrade first is very varied and over the years its varied from country to country getting first releases . Usually the non branded gets released well before the branded stuff .
Thanks. I'd read that sim-free unbranded phones were always LAST to get updates. It's confusing!
