i'm leaving next week "if" tmobile galaxy s2 supports att 3g!

im leaving next month for Nexus Prime/Galaxy Note

it's just a slight spec bump from the infuse, and i prefer the larger display
gs2 has a smaller battery and display, i'd rather wait for a bigger upgrade. we'll see what's going on a year from now!

I'll wait til my upgrade in May, will be better choices at that time....

Not goin anywhere until next spring. Waiting for the next bigger thing myself. What's out there now is not worth 200 bux.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App

I'd only leave for the Europe model. Att doesn't look appealing at all

staying here

I can only afford one $500 phone every few years..

Ill Have to wait and see if the nexus prime will be on at&t then ill jump untill then ill wait
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium

With LTE being out in my area, I'm not getting a phone that doesn't have LTE.
I can wait a few months for AT&T's first LTE phone, and the SGS2 is only a slight spec bump from the Infuse, and it has a smaller screen... I can't go smaller now.

Staying, I dont care for SII....that is until the Rogers SII comes out cause thats gonna have LTE and 4.5" screen.

Nexus Prime or any with LED notification, 4.5 screen, etc....

If it was dual 1.5 and 4.5 like tmobile, I'd be gone.
Sent from my Bad Azz Infuse....using xda premium of course!

do we really know the t-mo will not be 1.2 ghz? but if it is 1.5 that's awesome. they are getting phones with exessive power lately. the sensations doesnt need all that gpu power without 3d. but i guess t-mo really wants to keep the tech geeks. they got them all with the g-1 and hd2 and i guess they know that people that passed up the iphone for those phones are gonna want to see specs.

Well I'm glad to hear. I don't wanna leave my Infuse. It's the best phone I've ever had
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium

The European SGS II is exactly the same as the att model other than the capacitive buttons (see review on Engadget.com).
Tmobile SGS II will indeed be quad band wcdma supporting both tmo and att 3g.
While tmo SGS 2 does comes with a qualcomm 1.5ghz chip, it is inferior in processing and gaming to the 1.2ghz Exynos chip in the other ones...
As for me I'm staying put.... I love my Infuse enough that while the SGS 2 looks great and is very tempting, I will wait for Samsung's next super phone that will have a 1.5ghz Exynos processor and a 16 mega pixel camera and will run at 70fps.

ATT launching LTE Samsung Galaxy S II

Looks like we'll be loosing some more Captivate users next week. Between these two phones it's going to be a tough call on which one to pick up.

Also looks like att is going to see quite a few returned s2's for the lte version.

Well, it put more refurbed s2's out there. Makes it better if you have an upgrade coming up.

HTC VIVID, here I come!

While i'm just guessing, i'm thinking it will haves the same processor as the TMo version of the S2(ever which one that may be) because of the screen size.

Looks like its the Exynos 4212, but I haven't seen any articles specifically confirming this.
Unless you live on Mars, At&T doesn't have LTE yet. I jumped ship to Verizon and they don't have it it all markets yet either. Why bother?

Anyone heard what the chipset is on the Vivid yet? While the 1.5 GHz Exynos is appealing; I don't think I can take it being on a Samsung phone anymore. I'm thinking I'd rather have the 1.2 GHz Vivid so I can jump to HTC.
Dude it's not worth upgrading to either of those phones right now. Your best bet is to stick to this Galaxy S II, and wait for the Galaxy S III in February. Do remember that the first LTE phones will most likely have bad battery life.
Isure wish it was the Galaxy S II HD LTE instead. Same specs but with the 4.65 display instead.

I'm in very much the same boat as you; although the mod community can make the Captivate better than crap, one's got to admit that staying on Samsung stock would be 100% unbearable.
On the other hand, my close friend has an Inspire 4G, which I have borrowed for an extended period of time now; that's been a dream to use, be it Sense 2 or Sense 3.

Don't forget that these are not the first LTE phones anymore... Verizon has released plenty of them from the same manufacturers, and these are almost a full hardware "generation" removed from the Thunderbolt Desire HD and the Droid Charge already.

If upgrading right now, why get the SGSII instead of a Skyrocket or Vivid?
I'm debating which as well. I'm just worried about the SGSII dev support being split between the two (if hardware is different) or there not being much dev support over with the Vivid.
For myself, my phone is a benefit from my work. Which means I should probably stay on the stock ROM since they are paying for it. Not only that, but if something goes wrong during a flash and I mess up my phone I'll be in some trouble at work. Since that leaves me on Samsung's horrible upgrade cycle I'm very inclined to jump ship.
Even though these are new LTE phones for ATT I still believe it's worth it to consider them over the non LTE SGSII. If I'm going to be stuck with a phone for 2 years I would rather have LTE. Since I live in a LTE market it's even more of a draw. If anything, considering the HTC just to get away from Samsung.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to wait a month and see what the reviews are from other XDA members. If the battery life is completely horrible maybe just wait it out. Also my wife is due an update in December. If I do jump and don't like it I could always hand her down whatever I get and pick up something new when we renew her contract.
Regular SGS II is better.

[Q] When to upgrade..... gimme your 2 cents.

OK, I just got eligible for an upgrade, and was about to pull the trigger on a Galaxy S2 when I picked up a Galaxy 8.9 Tab to play with. Long story short, I spent my upgrade money on it (and a sexy piece of hardware it is, IMO). So now I'm thinking about when to upgrade. I got to thinking about the fact that my Inspire does everything I want it to do right now (MIUI is sweet!). I'll have another upgrade coming in a couple of months (I steal my sons upgrades on my family plan and give him my hand me downs), so I have plenty of options. I also think that an upgrade unused is a waste of potential money.
So what's around the corner? Think the next best thing is coming out? I could just get the S2, keep the Inspire, and sell the new phone. I'm actually looking at the Skyrocket now, I like the idea of a little bigger screen, but 4.5" is about as big as I would go. Are there any other large screen phones on the horizon that I should be thinking about?
Check out the galaxy note!! One big ass phone/mini tablet.... ur choice!
Keep an eye out for the HTC Elite/Congressional. Should be announced at Mobile World Congress the end of next month, to be released this Spring. That is the one I'm looking for. No specs have been leaked on it, just the internal/rumored names and potential release date so far.

This is good advice, especially with MWC only a month away. I don't know about you, but I'd be kicking myself if I upgraded now only to see a whole host of slick new phones coming out in the near future. I wonder if global smartphone sales drop before MWC due to this.

[Q] Should I buy the Skyrocket?

I have a Motorola Atrix right now and was looking to buy the Skyrocket. I had the Samsung Captivate and really loved Samsung's Android devices.
Some questions I have about the phone:
-The Galaxy Nexus has a 720p screen, since the Skyrocket only has a WVGA screen, does that mean less icons on the screen?
-We don't have LTE in Seattle yet, but how is the battery life while on HSPA? And how is it on LTE?
-Since the processor that is in the Galaxy S II isn't compatible with LTE, is Qualcomm's dual-core as fast and smooth?
-Is the camera take good pictures, and is the video quality good?
Thanks for those who help!

So I wanted the Galaxy S II and the Skyrocket seems like i'd be to big with the 4.5" screen and the AT&T GSII seems nice with the 4.3" screen.
Is there much of a noticeable difference between the 4.3" and 4.5"? it's only.2" bigger.
Is not that big of a difference (size wize), but I would go for the Skyrocket, is newer and have LTE. Make sure you read first what users are saying about the screen though, I've heard there are some pretty bad batches out there.

Appartently some people are saying the "screen" is not good...
I don't have any issues, nor do any of the 10 buddies of mine who own the same phone..
I was skeptical about switching from iPhone 4 to the Skyrocket due to its enormous size difference. After using for a day or two, I got used to it and the 4.5 inch screen really made a difference for me. However if you're switching from an OGS2, then it won't be that big of a difference but still good.
Girlfriend has the 4s, and she doesnt need to ask siri which is a better phone. i have had both att gs2's. The skyrocket is faster but the other is more refined. i like them both, but like skyrock speed
hey, my dad actually has the iphone 4 and he says all the time "hey whats that on your phone" because this phone is just so capable. I came a Sony arc and the speed alone should be enough to get this phone

24-28 hours on LTE?
I'm impressed.
May I ask what ROM you are using that achieves this battery life?
I have the Skyrocket and overall I think I made a mistake getting it.
** The skyrocket is a hastily put together phone. The plain SGS II is actually a better built phone. Even the Captivate was a much better built phone.
**The only reason for the Skyrocket hardware is to enable LTE for AT&T. The plain SGS II gives you 4G which should be more than enough, since LTE IS NOT AVAILABLE at most areas.
** The plain SGS II has far superior screen resolution.
** The exynos processor in plain SGS II even at 1.2 GHz is so much better.
** Unless you ABSOLUTELY want LTE, Skyrocket has not shattering advantage.
** The Skyrocket HD of course is a different question altogether.
** AND the HTC One X has the same specs as Skyrocket, with a HD screen and may be something to consider. Check this phone out too. http://www.mobilenapps.com/articles/1769/20120420/htc-one-x-release-date-att-may.htm#

Sorry, I think all ur main points are wrong frankly.
1) Build quality and quality control of the skyrocket has been excellent so far
2) I have access to 4g and LTE everywhere I go in all of Ontario, and let me tell u for what I use my phone for, late makes a WORLd or difference, 4g isnt even in the same league. This us basically just ur opinion
3) better screen resolution? where'd u find this info? link please?
4) find benchmarks showing me that exynos slaps the S3 1.5, please. Cuz I guarantee u won't. Sure if all u do is run benchmarks all day, yeah ifs faster. but in real world use u won't even be able to notice the difference. I'll take a pentaband radio that I can use on any carrier over 5% not even noticeable performance increase.
5) again ur opinion, see second point
6) skyrocket HD is same phone, better screen... so I don't understand this one
7). HTC One X has no SD card slot for expandable storage and lacks a removable battery, HUGE turnoffs for me ans several other users here, plus its HTC, and it may or may not come with a locked boot loader. Our dev took off out of the box, becuz we had no obstacles. Sammy's are definately the best for custom stuff.

Samsung Galaxy 3

Looking forward to it. Although my S2 is pretty bad ass. Hard to imagine how much better it will get.
Powered by the SGSII....
Looks like most of the phone is the display, no haptic keys. Any rumors on the physical dimensions of the phone. From the image, i'd guess it's a little less than 5" diagonal. So, perhaps it's just slightly bigger physically than the S2. I'm hoping for at least 720p resolution on this bad boy lol.
this is dumb as all hell. why dont we just go buy an iphone with one button besides the volume, camera and power buttons. im all for new phones but im not getting sold into the hype of every damn phone coming out. how is it people get suckered into 2 year contract just for a "newer better" phone to be released in the next three months. c'mon people grow a damn brain. im pretty sure thats why alot of devs are still on the htc sensation because its still about half a year old.
IMO Samsung is the only smart phone manufacture whose flagship is worth 2 year contract, with their hardware staying to current performance standards for about 1.5 years after release. Saying from my vibrant experience and seeing what is happening with GS2 (not the US LTE versions that came out late with different hardware). Also Samsung has a clear strategy with their flagship unlike HTC, LG, Motorola etc who bring out so many flagships in quick succession, they don't know what they are doing. Now if SG3 is released with penta band support i would pick up the international version and stay on t-mobile without extending contract.

The original SGS Vibrant came out 8 months or more before the 4G so yes, Samsung Android phones do stay "current" for the next 1.5 years stated.
The dual-core processor is limited to very few phones so a 1 Ghz with a GPU phone processor from almost 2 years ago is incredible.
When T-Mobile released the SGS4G, it was primarily because the Vibrant and all other Galaxy S variants were so successful. Samsung and T-Mobile wanted to milk the franchise before the S2 was released.
4.8 does seem HUGE coming from another phone, but it's kinda like coming from the Vibrant to this phone. At first it seems collosal but easy to get used to. I haven't seen the Note in person but honestly it looks monstrous in the commercial. Not sure I'd wanna go any bigger than the S2.

I'm definitely buying it , I got to get outta this dev community on this version of this phone , don't get me wrong I love the phone but the development sucks and its too childish in here and that's why I mainly stay away, hopefully with a different phone it will be better or at least the forum community will hopefully be better
Meh... I'm not upgrading until T-Mo comes out with the Note or something comparable. 4.8 inches isn't big enough for me to consider it an upgrade. 5.3 or bust, IMO.

Well the note has cwm now as of today and we have people flashing the tmobile radios to see if it works with 4G. If it does im ditching my nexus for one until the SGS3 comes.

A 4.8" screen with near zero bezel would be near perfect. Though the phone I really want is the HTC Zeta (if it ever gets made).

I'll definitely buy it no questions asked. I just have to get a dev one so I can get updates.
Anything bigger than our SII's seems too large for me. Everything is perfect about my SII including the size.

Did samsung release the original SGS2 before the ipjone 4s was released?

Samsung gs3 from skyrocket question

So....got the skyrocket several weeks (like 2 months) ago...and behold...the gs3 announcement that I was stupid enough not to wait for. Well..I have a spare upgrade available on my att account that I can easily get the gs3 under upgrade price with..but should I do it when it hits US? Would love to hear any and all opinions on the question

Well
is it so much of an upgrade that you cant live with out it? i dont see much difference except the better screen and supposedly better battery, but ill agree it beats it out a bit in preformance due to RAM but from this article, http://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-vs-samsung-galaxy-s2-82255/
im still pretty happy with my GSII. i think the GSII is sleek, thin, and good looking. im keeping mine and not worried about an upgrade.
I was going to wait for the s3 back in like February but the wait seemed so long so I just went with the skyrocket and love it! I'm glad that I didn't wait, not saying the s3 isn't good but not that big of an upgrade

Not worth it, if I wanted Iphone features, Id get an Iphone. Better to wait for the S4 sibce hardware is almost similar

Also has a quad core exynos processor, but that's for the international version, no telling if we will see that on att though.

The GS3 seems great, but that screen is way to big for me... even the skyrocket is a bit too big to fit in my hand and its even annoying some time. The perfect screen size is about 4" IMO

This is my mindset at the moment haha...and yes...I do believe 4" is leaning too close to iPhone territory. Skyrocket and gs3 are perfect sized IMO

An S4 Quad would be nice, determining how a S4 dual compares to the T3. i honestly don't think Samsung is stupid enough to announce the GS3 stretching the quad core thing out as the biggest feature, and release it here in 'merica with a dual.
I'm kinda thinking that LTE is where the carriers want to go... So I'd think that until the manufacturers can get LTE to work on the quad core, we're going to see a "North American" version Dual Core LTE Slll. But who knows, there's still plenty of Markets in Canada & the US, which don't have LTE service.. so maybe we'll see both the Quad & Dual core phones in N. A.... Just to keep Samsung's penchant for having technically different phones, with the SAME Damn name....
