Hello,
I wanted to check for updates for my Desire S which was bought in Hong Kong in May 2011.
The phone found an update and started it.
But the it reachs a point where only a red exclamation mark is on the screen. With buttons I can enter the recovery and see the following failure:
assert failed: check_cid...[]
"HTC_622") == "t"
E:Error in /sdcard/download/OTA_Saga_HKCLS_CHT_1.47.832.1-1.31.832.3_release_199650ujj9tvk1o1su97r.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I don't know what to do.
Is it because I'm not in Hong Kong right now (I'm in Germany) or is this some other kind of problem.
Can I solve it by unrooting the phone?
I would appriciate any ideas
Thanks
Uwe

I think rooted phones can not upgrade with this OTA
yes you must be s-on & unrooted....
the official OTA package could only be applied through official recovery~
u dont have to be unrooted or s-on, just flash the RUU in, copy the OTA package to your sdcard, sign in the hboot and go into the recovery.
u will see a picture of cellphone and a red triangle, right? then press the volume+ and power button at the same time, use option "apply update from sdcard" to install the OTA package~
good luck man~
Your phones CID does not match what is in the update script
assert(check_cid(getprop("ro.cid"), "00000000" , "11111111" ,
"22222222" , "33333333" , "44444444" , "55555555" , "66666666" ,
"77777777" , "88888888" , "99999999" , "HTC__001" , "HTC__E11" ,
"HTC__032" , "HTC__203" , "HTC__Y13" , "HTC__102" , "HTC__405" ,
"HTC__N34" , "HTC__304" , "HTC__A07" ,
"HTC__016") == "t");
Mike.
Hi
thanks for the replies.
1. I made a mistake - the phone is unrooted and s-on - it has never been rooted but "more locale 2" was installed to enable German language - could this be a reason?
2. What does that mean that my phones CID does not match the script? How can I change that?
The update was downloaded over the update-function - so it is very official, or is this not correct?
I'm very confused and open for any help...
Uwe
Error 7 for me was the CID not matching, once I deleted those lines from the update script, the OTA installed, however, I am S-OFF and have custom Recovery installed. I also had to manually install the new ENG HBoot 2.
If your update came down officially, I am a little confused.
Sorry.
Mike.
The phone was bought in Hong Kong on a smal street shop.
Could it be that it was debranded by somebody and sold to me and now the official update does not match the phone?
I have no knowlegde about CID and stuff at the moment.
Has anybody an idea where I can get it.
Is it possible to change the CID?
Uwe
I'm getting into more and more.
I found a reference how to read and change the CID, but I was not able to change it and got "command error !!!" from fastboot oem writecid
My CID is HTC__044
Do you think it will work if I'm changing to HTC__102 (should be Germany, correct?)
How can I do that?
Must the Phone be s-off - I do not want to change too much. Only as much as needed to get the official update working with my phone.
Uwe
one more update:
I was able to set s-off with Revolutionary but still no chance to set the CID.
How can I manage to change it?
You need to remove the assert tags
assert(check_cid(getprop("ro.cid"), "00000000" , "11111111" ,
"22222222" , "33333333" , "44444444" , "55555555" , "66666666" ,
"77777777" , "88888888" , "99999999" , "HTC__001" , "HTC__E11" ,
"HTC__032" , "HTC__203" , "HTC__Y13" , "HTC__102" , "HTC__405" ,
"HTC__N34" , "HTC__304" , "HTC__A07" ,
"HTC__016") == "t");
from the updater-script
+ if you flash the boot in the update you will s-on your phone again, you may want to replace the hboot in the firmware.zip with the leaked eng Hboot 2.00.
So - I tried and changed the check_cid part and added my cid HTC_044...
It seems that it went a little further but then showed a big red question mark (before it showed a exclamation mark)
Then I was very afraid that I bricked it - but started again and is still the very old ROM....
arghh...
I never wanted to root anything, s-off something and all that. I simply wanted to install the official update which the phone found by itself...
So I have 2 options:
1. Flash a custom rom -> girlfriend does not want to do this and likes her phone as it is
2. find a way to change that stupid CID. But this CID seems unbreakable....

Did you try reflashing the RadioROM only (radio.nbf)?
yes i tried to reflash it only with the radio ROm .... but no way ,,gives me thesame errror
pls help
You will have to use the "NoID RUU" instead. There are many pages here with different versions that you can choose from.
my magician after flashing with the latest rom , i got this error ,, i got not GSM and Error 114 if i try to reflash the radio again
could anyone help if u please
I'm still convinced that you will need to get a RUU that is made specifically for updating the radio (to at least 1.12) only
Thank you for ur help , but i already did it many times and nothing new ,, always give me the error 114...
i have all the radio versions of my imate .... and i tried all of them ,.but no way

Hi there!
I've search the forum but every 140 error topic I've found was from people relocking their phones, so I'm not sure if that would apply to me, as I hadn't rooted the phone or installed any ROM before.
I'm trying to upgrade my phone in the hope that solves a problem with the radio module. My software version is RUU Europe 2.10.401.8. First I tried with RUU Europe 2.10.401.9, using the goldcard method, but I get Error 140.
I red that upgrade was not possile, so I tried the next version, thats ARA 2.14.415.3, but again error 140. After that I tried with RUU Asia India 2.15.720.3, but again error 140
Any idea on this?
Thanks!

what kernel you using? what phone model? try flash another kernel ....find best its 2 seconds need to flash
I encountered that problem on some samsung phones. Try resetting your phone to factory settings, no need to wipe anything. If that doesnt work you may need to logcat it

my kernel is original kernel
samsung n9005 - galaxy note 3
i can confirm that its the only bug that no one can solve it !!!!

hi
i have htc 8x locked in operator three I've upgraded to wp 8.1 with preview for devlopers but i found A lot of problems ( battery life / black camera / .... ) And for this I want to downgrade back to WP8
- I got Download the official europe rom :
(RUU_ACCORD_U_APO_00_HTC_Europe_2.00.401.03_1.11b.32.19.23_2_15.42.32_RETAIL_ENC_RELEASE.exe)
- And I started doing the steps But he show me a message say ( ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDOR ID )
I got up to search for the meaning of ERROR [294] I found this (( Every device contains a short string that identifies the operator who sold it. Because the same device is sold by different operators, this prevents users from flashing a T-Mobile ROM to a device that was sold by Orange, for example. You probably need to Install a HardSPL or CID Unlock your device. ))
And I think the problem is my bootloader is locked , And I am looking for a way to open it for( Flash original ROM)
Who can help me to do that please.
sorry for my bad english ^^
