[Q] Changing mango ie9 search engine or alternative browser - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Loving mango, but one thing I changed in Nodo was the seach in the address bar to google using a sideloaded app.
I wondered if there was anything like that for mango, also has anyone managed to release a edited browser with the tab button back.
Would do anything to replace the refresh button with the tab button

Thunderbolt, Stock Browser - HTTP always in front??

So, I've got my TB and have installed an earlier version of Swype (Evo).
I love that swype works great, except for the auto space with the stock SMS (Handcent FTW).
I've tried Dolphin Mini/HD, FF and Miren. I gotta say that I'm loving Miren, but because Swype auto space doesn't work at all, I'm back to the stock browser.
One of the things I love is being able to just type in search words in the browser bar, but I have having to erase the "http://www." everytime in the stock browser.
For example, if I want to search for "amsterdam", I go to the top, touch the browser bar, and see that everything is highlighted...EXCEPT for the "http://www."
So I need to manually delete/clear out the "http://www.", then go back and swype "amsterdam" to search from the bar.
Is there anyway to have the stock browser take out the "http://www." on the Thunderbolt as a default?
p.s. does Miren support swype auto space...if so, how?
I know what you're talking about and it's really annoying. On the Droid X, the browser would just clear out the whole bar. On the TB, i have forced myself into the habit of pressing the search button in browser when I want to search for something.
I must say I like the HTC browser much more than the Moto one, but the way it fills in http:// is just annoying as all hell.
I noticed that http bug in the stock browser as well. I'm sure it will get addressed soon (pardon the pun derp I couldn't help it.) As far as browsers not auto-spacing that's because those browsers use the address bar both for searching and for URLs, and there's no way for your keyboard know which one you are typing. I've been using opera for a while now, it's super fast since it's the only browser that uses hardware acceleration at this point, plus it has a separate address bar and search bar. Give it a try, you'll probably like it.
I don't think my browser does that. Then again if I'm going to do a search while in the browser I just hit the search button.
with the browser open, just tap the search soft key

I would rather leave it the way it is. I think they actually put a lot of thought into how this works and intended it to be that way. It assumes that if you're tapping the address bar you wanna type an address. How annoying would it be if you had to type the http..... every time. Just use the search button.

I would rather they bloody ask.. IE made options for that crap.
Check out the extra settings in the browser. It might be in there I would check for you but I don't have time. But I can direct you where to look. Go to browser> type in the url about:debug > hit enter or go whichever. It shouldn't do anything to the page but what will happen is if you hit menu> more> settings. It will give you much more edit menus. Give it a try.
Download and instal the aosp browser add on in the teslacoil rom thread, bak in the happiness!

Samsung Keyboard Dock

Got one of these new and really cheap and chuffed.
My question is.
The keyboard has an internet button but it will only bring up the default browser and not Dolphin.
Anyone know how I can change this?
Also same for email as well.
Ta
I think you have to set Dolphin as your standard Web Browser
There should be a dialogue if you open Dolphin for the first time.
Yeah that's not really an option sadly.
The keyboard only seems to bring up the default apps.

Hello there,
Chrome browser's performance is awful on CM10.1. I didn't try CM10 and other ROMs but maybe it is not related to the OS version. Anyway I've used an earlier version of Chrome (v18) on my previous stock ICS ROM and it was working fine. Now there are a lot of lags when there are any animations - carousels, sliding panels, css animations... The same problems on the new Opera browser. Everything works fine in the native android browser.
Can someone post his experience with the Chrome browser on Desire S? Also does anybody know if Google has been changed the mobile rendering engine to blink?

[Q] Google Chrome opens as a window

I pressed something and now google chrome opens as a window on my one plus one running the pac man rom. How do I get chrome to run full screen again?
The new update changed. So when you open a new tab it opens as a new activity. So you will see it in recent menu.
It's a bug in version 39. It has already been reported in Chrome Beta, now they rolled it out to everyone:

[Q] Stock browser default search engine resets w/ each new tab

Has anyone had the issue where changing the default search engine in the stock browser doesn't work in new tabs?
For instance, I'll change the default search engine to Bing. That tab will use Bing for searches. If I open a new tab or close and reopen the app, it will use Google for searches again.
I'm curious if anyone else has encountered this or knows a way to fix it. I'm using the AT&T S6 with latest 5.0.2 firmware.

I don't have the exact problem but a similar one.
Whenever I change the default search ingine in the stock browser, it always resets back to Google whenever the browser is closed and reopened.
I'm using S6 Dual SM-G9200 with latest 5.0.2 firmware too.
Where can we report bugs to Samsung so they can fix?
Yes that is exactly the issue I was having. The only "fix" I was able to do was installing the stock browser .apk from a deodexed ROM for the G920F. That would require root, at least the way I did it. I'm now rootless (wanted to take the latest AT&T update) and the bug is back. I just went back to Firefox. With that said, I would have to think it will get fixed on an upcoming major update.
