[Q] guys is there a way to teak the build - T-Mobile LG G2x

A lot of people says that the different of the g2x an 2x
Its the build and firmware. Is there a way to teak them?
For example. I got the metro pcs LG esteem witch is the same as the verizon
LG Revolution just the build.img is different and they already teak the build off of the esteem and now you can flash roms from the revolution to it
It would be nice if someone of our devs can figure something out to make this work

The main difference is the baseband chips. They are different and incompatible.
You can port the roms if you know what you are doing but why would you want to when the 2X is still stuck on Froyo. Wait until an official 2X GB rom comes out and then maybe someone will port it so you can flash it without screwing up your phone.

i guess your right wait till the gb comes out. my main thing is that seems like were dead with developers so i figure if they dont want to keep going just tell us how to port roms from the 2x to our g2x.
if you go to the samsung galaxy s 4g they stop making roms and teach you how to flashed roms from the vibrant.
in anycase it would be nice to have the LG overlay since all we have is stock roms.

LG Optimus 2x getting OTA Ginger

I came across this in the Tmobile forums. Looks like the 2x is getting a ginger OTA update. If thats the case it has the harmony chip onboard we should be able to push the drivers to our device. Just a heads up for everyone!

Bumping this cause Im really suprised no one has commented yet on this. This is great news for us because we will get current drivers for 2.3.4... Apparently this isnt big news for anyone?
This has good potential. The only thing keeping from the Ginger roms is the hardware video.
It would be awesome if we can get working ginger drivers. I would love to run one of the cm7 roms but I couldn't deal with the video performance in its curent form so I had to drop back to 2.2.
Do we know for sure that the 2x is based off harmony?

[Q] difference roms betweens the 2x and g2x!

hey guys seems like we dont have many devs working on the g2x. and i wanna thank to the ones the are you have been working hard to make roms
i was just wondering around the 2x roms section have seems very cools rom for that phone like this one check it out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1235915
i know even thought is the same phone but different in a way
and if i flash rom from the 2x will brick my g2x.
i also have a samsung galaxy s 4g and there is a way to flash roms from the vibrant to it.
like i said before same phones but different in a way
do you guys think we will get cool roms like this?
other than cm7 and miui?
or is there ever gonna be a way to flash 2x roms to the g2x like vibrant to the vibrant 4g!!!
They are not the same phone. The memory is partitioned differently and they have different baseband chips. If you flash a ROM for the 2X you will F... Up your G2X. Stay out of the O2X forums if you want to keep your G2X alive and well.

That said, porting ROMs from the 2x is a fairly straight forward matter and we should see conversions of the best 2x ROMs sooner or later...or implementation of the best features into existing ROMs. In other words 2x development is good for us and vice versa.

Can somebody make a custom rom for lg vortex???

Are there any devs that would like to take a shot at making a custom rom for the LG Vortex? This phone alone seems to be neglected but its part of the optimus line up along with th v, t, s, etc. I was just wondering if anyone can make a gingerbread capable or just a quick snappy rom please.

[REQUEST] LG MyTouch Q system dump / LG touchwiz 2.3 port maybe?

I see that there is a new LG phone on tmobile, and it runs LG touchwiz. Ive always wanted to get the good old LG touchwiz running full speed on my G2x but never seen a rom. What do you guys think???
There are so many things wrong with this... besides the fact the development forum is not a request board...
First. The MyTouch Q is not even similar in the least to the G2X... different arhitecture. If we wanted something similar with LG Framework, that would be the Optimus 2x.
Second. It isn't LG Touchwiz. No such thing exists.

they both use touchwiz
MTQ uses a Snapdragon while this is Tegra, so it's completely different and won't work. Plus, it's just an LG skinned ROM. Not TouchWiz at all. If you compare actual TouchWiz with LG's MTQ ROM you'll see they're completely different.
Samsung is the one to invent touchwiz on their galaxy series. LG UI is what you are refering too, and as someone said, the best chance we have at getting it is through Optimus 2x on AT&T/Rogers/Fido
Try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334819
JBOXER was trying to get the LG UI from the optimus 2x gb ota and everything worked fine other than we couldnt get any cellular signal even though we did have our original baseband. he and others had tried to get this pass but with no luck at all. it does looks beautiful on our g2x i really hope the devs can get pass this issue.

That's more progress than I was able to make porting a P999 gb rom.... I never got past bootloops. Maybe if I could get that far I would be able to get it working... Has to be possible.

LG G2x

Hello All,
I want to ask you guys that I am getting this Phone in cheap like around $125. I need to ask you guys that in that price is the right phone also I heard that people are complaining regarding this phone which majorly include random reboot. If I root it and flashed it via any custom 4.0 rom will it fix these problems ? Also I didn't understand what are the GB roms mean ? If anyone can suggest me a gud MIUI or any 4.0 rom it would be great.
Many Thanks in advance for your help.

Do yourself and your sanity a favor. DON'T pick up this phone! It's backed by a lying company, and it's an Nvidia based product making it subject to Nvidia's stuck up policy for releasing hardware drivers. Get something else. You'll be happier you did. LG NEVER again!

So....for the sane response. If you're planning on sticking with the stock firmware, then I'd also say to move on to another phone. If you're comfortable flashing a custom rom, I'd say if you can wait a while the this will probably be one of the best phones available.
To clarify, stock on this phone is very poor. CM7 is pretty good, but still has some bugs and obviously lacks all the newer features of ICS/JB. Right now we don't have a good ICS/JB build, but we're hoping to have one soon. Source was recently released for one of our "sister" phones. RC (Arcee, Ricardo) has already released CM10 for the O2x, but is ironing out some details on it atm. The reasonable assumption is that after is done with that, he'll make a version for the G2x (as he did with the "hacked" version of CM9 in the past).
So in short....hardware's great, but software's crap. Hopefully we'll see improvement on the software side soon though

At $125, if you will be satisfied with running Android 2.3.4 such as the stock LG/T-Mobile V21E or V21Y or a modded ROM of either of those such as Weapon, then the phone is a bargain if it is also in very good condition. The phone may or, most likely, won't get any further updates to ICS and/or JB even from developers such as those on XDA or Cyanogenmod (CM10). If you want to get the latest Android, buy a newly released NEXUS qualified phone with JB which will also get future Android updates.
Yeah, for $125 you can pick up a new non-LG phone that is far superior in terms of support and feature set. Anyone who recommends you to buy an LG smartphone does not care for you the way I do. I want you to live your life, not sit here in an XDA forum like the rest of us waiting to be saved by the open source community.

I am interested in one of those phones for $125 (unsubsidized cost). Name them and what support and features are superior to the G2X.

Fixed your post. The p999 will be definitely getting CM10. Right now, were just in a period when all the other devs are being respectful to arcee and waiting for all the kinks to be worked out of the p990 CM10 before porting to the P999. Plus we will most likely get official CM support from arcee as well.

Respect. Odd concept these days unless between gangs when it is used as a warning before all hell breaks loose.
So far, even though asked repsectfully and politely, RC hasn't provided any information about providing CM10 for the P999. I think we're hoping that he will after he gets some of the problems with CM10 for the P990 remedied. Apparently, he doesn't have a P999 but there's a rumour that he's getting one which I hope he does so he can optimize CM10 for the P999 without a lot of iterative programming. It's difficult to figure out what's happening with other developers, whether they're holding back out of "respect" for RC or they're gone from P999 development (there's one XDA member currently trying to port the P990 CM10 ROM but is having serious difficulties doing it).
Hey buddy there isn't anything wrong with the g2x as a phone. It still has tetra 2 and plays well with a lot apps and games. Its much better than any low cost new phone out there.
Leave it stock and maybe rooted and you will be fine.
Unless lg releases ics for it you wont have a full working ics rom for it.
And the problem isn't nvidia! Tegra2 devices are everywhere and the t3 is one the highest demanded chips out there.
Lg isn't totally to blame either.
The problem is anytime you buy a branded version of a phone it has to wait to get its software out too. So since the g2x says T-Mobile on it, they are also the reason the phone doesnt have much respect for the dev community,
Have fun with your 100$ phone. Best you can't find a better one cheaper

I wouldn't let NVIDIA and LG off the hook for blame, they both have caused problems for the phones NVIDIA's chips are in and LG for the phones it makes. I own an unbranded Optimus 2X which is exactly the same as the T-Mobile G2X in every respect except that it is LG's branded phone. How did that happen? It's because it is a Canadian Optimus 2X which was sold by some Canadian cell phone service providers such as WIND Mobile and Mobilicity and operates on the same AWS bands as the T-Mobile G2X. It came with Froyo and, in spite of it being advertised as being upgradeable and to receive an upgrade to Gingerbread, it has not received any Android OS updates at all and, according to LG Canada, never will.
I'd say $75 would be the price I would recommend it at. I paid $200 with contract unfortunately
