[Review] Seidio Active Kickstand Case and Holster Combo - HTC Sensation

What I have finally is a decent kickstand case from Seidio. It's the Active case they sell but they popped in a kickstand. Here's a link to the unboxing and installed pics.

As a mini review...
Being this is my first Seidio Active case ever, I am quite impressed by the combo offering. the case and skeleton that goes over the case is quite nice. The build is nice and you can feel the quality of the case when held in your hand. Right now for the kickstand Active case, there is only the black available and that's ok with me. But I do like color from time to time. As for the kickstand portion, it works as described. It cannot stand up in portrait and is intended for only landscape viewing when the kickstand is in use. The kickstand has a nice click to open and close and you can be confident that the kickstand is tucked away. And when opening the kickstand, don't worry if you use too much force the plastic piece has some give and is forgiving. Nice to know
All in all the case is indeed worth its pretty penny. Before this case, I was using the Nillkin kickstand case as you can see in one of the pics in the gallery. Even though I love the slim factor, I am constantly worried I will be scratching the bottom and top portion of the phone which is not covered with the Nillkin kickstand case. Seidio has taken away that worry, however has added some bulk to my phone. It's not bad, but I do like the slim factor of the Sensation and was one of the main reasons for getting the phone. Eh...if the phone is to survive, I have to give something up right? LOL
As for the holster, its great. No issues in getting the phone in or out and I have yet to experience the peel back on the top portion that others have. But time will tell .
Out of 5 stars I give this case a good 4 stars. Because of the uncertainty of the holes that are not present in the case but are on the phone backing. I have yet to test the mic but I will report back if I have any issues.
UPDATE 4/24/12: With regards to the holes. There are no issues with regards to hearing on either end of a call and gps/cell signals are fine. This is my go to case when traveling. However, I maintain my 4 out of 5 stars, because it is a lint trap lol. And a little bulky for my taste, but that's a trade off when you want protection.

I have the active case with kickstand as well. It is the best phone case I've had for the sensation it offers great protection, not bulky and the kickstand just sets it apart from all the others.

Posted in the OP. Also included a coupon code as well. Every penny counts in today's world!

Reporting back after a few days of usage. Used gps and took and received a number of calls and glad to say everything works. With the covering of some of the holes in the back, I was hesitant of how people were going to hear me. But none have remarked that the in call volume was too low or otherwise. GPS ran as it should. Connected to sats locked in as usual.

Looks like I'll be getting this case considering its one of the few cases with a kickstand. Any flaws with it?

The only "flaw" IMO is that not all the holes are present in the case. But the main holes for mic are and do not hinder any performance in my case. And what ever cut outs are there are lined up perfectly. And removing the case in the need of a battery pull is a breeze as well. And also besides the holster peeling off the top part of the case when placing it in the holster one handed, its a hit or miss. You need to just be aware to just use your index finger to move the tab up before placing the phone in the holster from the bottom and then up.
I stand by my mini review so far with being it a strong 4 out of 5 stars for me. The last star would have been the cutting out of all the holes like the back of the case.

is that green case for the sensation? if so where did u get it?

Yes it's the Nillkin Kickstand case for the Sensation. I did a review on that as well, did you not see?? I advise against this case unless you are open to personally use a file or dremel to extend your cut out of the usb port. Also the kickstand itself needs to be modified as well to easily fold up the kickstand. Read the thread and make your own judgment before ordering.

And if you do want it, I got mine from obostore.com and they have a 20% coupon at the moment.

Great question! I took a look at it this morning and the answer is no. With the kickstand deployed, the port is located where the phone rests horizontally, as a result the port is blocked.

That's a bummer. I bought the case last night after thinking about this lol
I will still enjoy it though
Thanks for the answer!

It's up to ones own preference. I mean I do not regret the purchase. The kickstand works well. And I don't watch a lot of vids on the phone, that's why I have a tablet. Is it that much cheaper? I mean if you get it on ebay I think it's maybe a tad more expensive, but not astronomical.

[Q] Hard Case for Desire

I am looking for good hard case, I really like this one for iphone: SwitchEasy CapsuleNeo. But it doesn't matter, I preffer good quality.
I tried leather pouch case and sillicon case and both are looking ugly and cheap after using it while. The sillicon is too thick and after three months is quite stretched.
Thanks for advice
Have you looked at these? http://www.otterbox.com/htc-cases/htc-desire-cases/

I had a PDair case on my last phone.
They are very VERY good and will really keep your phone looking like new.
BUT
Be aware that they do impact signal strength and could make the difference between 2 bars and no bars.

Really? I've never encountered such problem, though. Pdair is a very famous case maker with rich experiences, I think they will fully test the products before commercial launch?? BTW, have you asked for replacement?

If you fully encase a phone in metal, it's kind of expected that reception will be affected to some degree. I suspect that different phone will also be affected in different ways dependant on where the antenna is located.
As I said, the PDair case IS very very good and I was prepared to accept the trade off on reception (which was only really a deal in poor reception areas) against the ultimate protection for my phone. When I eventually sold the phone on eBay, the buyer did not believe this had been my work phone for the last year plus as it was in such good condition.
My experience was however in an area of marginal signal, taking the phone out of the metal case resulted in an extra bar or 2. I do not believe this to be a faulty case, just physics

Alot like the way the Htc Legend has been having poor reception due to it been made from aluminium.
I had a 2 part case and broke it due to having to take the battery or sd card out frequently with flashing roms daily. What ive got now is a Casemate Barely There and it does its job brilliantly.

It just arrived, and it is perfect! The screen protector had gone on flawlessly, and is much smoother than my last one, giving the feel and slip of a bare glass screen. The case itself is very well made, and although it adds some minor bulk to the phone,i think it looks cool. All cutouts line up perfectly, and it feels very good to hold.
Well worth the money if you don't mind the look it gives the phone.

Just bought one of the body glove cases with a kickstand online for 17.95 with a free shipping code. I know someone in another thread got this as well recently and the pics he or she posted looked good in regards to quality but taking it apart may be a bit of a chore.
I'll post the link if anyone wants it, but I'll repost once I receive the case. I hope it works!
Post the link w/pics when u get a chance. I must have a kickstand case!
I know the Body Glove kickstand case for the HD2 was a bit of a pain to remove and seemed CLICK so loudly that people feared it might damage their device. Does the Sensation version go on and off without any noticeable issues?

Just got back from lunch and I got my bodyglove case. It is indeed the same you get at the tmo stores, but cheaper somewhat . As for the case, it works, it adds a bit to the phone which I am on the fence on right now. I kinda like it but takes away from the beauty of the phone. I took off the clip and put in the tab so that I would have a flat tab so that I can fit it into the leather case I also have.
I did try the stand. It works but seems a bit flimsy. I just don't like having my phones' face exposed to the elements like door jams and door handles and desk drawers at my office, so that is why I chose to not have that clip on. I don't know...I may want to sell this case in a day....anyone want it for 15 bux shipped?
Anyways here are the pics taken from the sensation. I do not have any pics of the case with the actual case on of course

I would be considering the body glove case for my new sensation, but the same case on my G2X actually started scratching the side of my phone. It's plastic on plastic, it makes scratches. Maybe it's different cause of the shape of the sensation (I hope so), but beware.

The only plastic is actually the top part that snaps on. It is kinda flimsy but fits nice and flush with the phone and no movement what so ever.
After a few hours, the case is growing on me but I may want to just get rid of it and buy the leather one from expansys that ships in a week.

Pictures, pictures please
I sued my landlord for $3000
I have some extra cash for the summer
The problem was that I had rodents (disgusting), so they took longer than 30 days
So I took a couple of pictures and threatened them to go to court and file for A LOT more money that my original request ($3K)
SO I had a meeting with the Vice-President of the corporation, it was a pretty nasty meeting, but anyway, I got my money
Bottom line is "A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS "
In my case, I spend $5 printing two pictures, I showed them to the Vice-President, and then we settled off-court
OMG that kickstand is nasty. Can't they make one that is more discrete?

I can second that it doesn't have any I just got the case today in the morning I love the case I'm pretty sure I can use a knife with some heat and melt out the cut outs for the volume.?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
I read some reviews and the reason the reason they don't have volume cut outs is because of the potential manufacturing difficulties that would result while being made.
If you could do it nicely with a knife or exacto blade I say go for it!!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
I got my case from Amazon & I immediately did my power button with a razor blade. The minute I put it in the case it tried to reset cause the case was pushing the power button all the way down. I don't know if I'll do the volume button though. Its way too sensitive, I can barely touch the button without changing the volume, but it's not exactly easy to cut TPU material neatly. The cutout looks OK from a distance, but up close it's kinda jagged. I can't believe they designed a case that holds the damn power button down like that, but I only paid 30 cents for it so I guess I can't *****.

That's exactly what I am saying mate
You can see that some of the holes are gone... edited away for some reason!
Very clear different color smudge(s) in holes locations
I can easily "clone stamp" away the hTC logo in photoshop... no biggie
I was just wondering why would the seller do that instead of simply posting a real pic of his product...
131 bought this via eBay.... 6 positive feedback no negative
is it worth a trial

131 bought this via eBay.... 6 positive feedback no negative
is it worth a trial

I'm stupid, lol.
But yeah looking really close, there's a "clone stamp" on the image. I wouldn't trust him but if you get any response from him, let us know
Wow. I do a lot of Photoshop work and that's got to be the worst clone stamp job I've seen!

Just recjeved tpu case from the one I linked in first page.

I love it!

The mention of a "SILICONE TPU-CASE" seems odd to me. TPU and Silicone are two different materials. Most sellers are selling cases that are either TPU or Silicone. I doubt it's some new blend of TPU and silicone. TPU is the cheaper material, so it's probably TPU.
I've found TPU cases have a negative impact on signal, but I've had no such signal issues with silicone cases. I've been testing both.

[Q] Anyone tried Case-Mate Pop! for HTC Sensation Hard Case?

Doing hours of research on all diffrent types of cases i can apon the theory that case-mate are some of the best cases for the phone.. but i can across these Pop! branded hard cases and wanted to know if anyone else has one or seen one in the wild and what there thoughts are.. The case looks great, but its a heafty $34.00 for one.

I love the case, I have the black and grey version and I've been using it for just over 2 weeks now. The grey is a nice soft tactile grip and the main part of the case is a nice hard and smooth rubber compound that feels more like plastic then rubber. Fits the phone very nice, and its a dream to hold on to. But its a pain to take it out if you ever need to get access to the battery or memory card.
The only real con I found is that glossy black plastic scratches easily and shows the scratches but better the case then my phone.
Buttons are very easy to push and you don't have to struggle with them.
Now I have had one accident since I've had my case and I know it saved my phone from damage.
If there was an Otterbox Defender for out phone it would be over $60 and provide about the same protection. I'd would recommend this case.
I don't understand how people scratche their HTC!
Its the only devices that have unscratchable materials,I had an N1, DHD and now Sensation with no cases...never had any single scratches (apart the N1 screen)

Love it. Adds bulk to the phone, but it looks dope so I don't mind. Mucho protection too.

If you haven't made the purchase yet, take a look at the Seidio Active case for the sensation. I've had it about a week now and it is a fantastic case. Not too much bulk, cutouts are positioned perfectly, and buttons are easily accessible. Plus I bought the one with the kick stand built in, which is a nice extra feature.

Just got this case today and its great.. adds a little bulk but it feels nice. Looks great also. Already got 3 compliments today. Very easy to put on and take off. Fits snug. Buttons push easy. Recommended to anybody that doesn't mind a little bulk.

Love the rubber feeling more than plastic if compare to pop type. Avoid scratch i think.

Just received this case. Very nice and greatly built. Only minus is that back is scrach sensitive. And the phone becomes little bit "fat" (add 2-4 mm) Buttons is still very responsive and everything is fine.
I would recommend to buy from case-mate.com with coupon from http://www.retailmenot.com/view/case-mate.com
I have bought it with 25% helloween coupon and I have received my case in 9 days. (from USA to Lithuania).
In the end i'm attaching some photos:

I had the bottom one,and had to cut the edge of the shell of the cable to fit smoothly.
P.s. could be my cable is odd....

Also I have received Tough Case and Barely There Case today from case-mate.
I can say POP! case is far the best, gives the best protection.
Barely There case is even funny. It has almost no protection from dropping the phone. It just makes 1mm protection from scraches.
And the tough case is like cheaper version of POP! version. And there isn't so much gum or silicone whathever the material inside is in the tough case that it is in POP!.
POP is far the best case for me yet (from case-mate production).
Another Coupon for site-wide 25% discount.

I know this thread is a bit old, but just got this case in the mail today. From the experienced guys who have this case...what is the best way to start taking the case off?
Work from the bottom up? Bottom down? Or sides? For the life of me I have no clue Feel like I'm gonna split the phone in half, trying to get this on or off!
Thanks!

Best case possible for a cheap price! $5.85!

Hey guys, I just bought this case a few days ago... It's amazing. I paid $5.85 for the case and it was TOTALLY worth it. This thing is easy to grip, fits well, has all the cut outs in the perfect locations. I almost bought an otter box for $25 but I am glad I decided not to.. I NEVER use cases on my phones because I am always so careful with them, however, I don't think this one will ever come off.

No I meant that because with my old case can't remember what company or anything it always had less WiFi signal than with the case off

Ive been using this case since Novemeber and its been flawless, no signal issues ever?
I have a pretty similar (in that it's part matte/part shiny) case:

Also very good.
I have the black and clear and use them both depending on whether I use my polished cover, white beats cover or the oem one lol.. I like the white and polished the best though..

You can get those off Ebay from China for less than $3.00 shipped. Of course...you'll be waiting on it for some time.
For the money, they're great cases. IF you're looking for bare minimum scratch protection, this is it.
I wouldn't expect it to protect much in a drop, however. There's no padding, just thin rubber/tpu.

I just bought this case, so I'm hoping you guys didn't steer me wrong. Also bought the Skinomi tech skin, hope that's worth it and will keep my baby from sustaining any more scratches
Sent from my Sensation 4G using XDA
This case rocks. Slim, protects well, and dirt cheap. Along with the Skinomi screen protector (which due to an annoying installation means that I permanently have a small hair underneath), this phone is now complete. I feel way safer moving forward with it now that I have this case. Only complaint is that it took a day longer than stated to ship.
